Very professional and helpful. Their preferred vendors were great! we had an amazing wedding day.
I am very pleased with my reception, the wait staff and the event planner. The wait staff was amazing, very accommodating and it was more than we could have asked for. We used the Portofino Room for our small wedding. We had wall panels and a photobooth in the back room. They were flexible with letting us set up since there were no weddings before or after us for a few weeks.
However, we stayed at the hotel for a few extra nights. On the day of my wedding, my bridesmaids and I were scrambling to get the room together before our photographers came to take getting ready photos. Someone accidentally spilled on the bedsheets. We asked the front desk if they can send someone to make the bed and replace the sheets and he rudely said no. He said I was supposed to ask them to make the bed when I checked in. Umm..I’ve never had to do that at a hotel before but okay... I explained it was my wedding day and we really need new sheets before the photographers arrive. He said it wasn’t his problem. I finally asked if I could have clean sheets then and he reluctantly agreed. They brought up only a top sheet so we had to call them again to get a fitted sheet too. Then my bridesmaids and I made the bed after getting both the sheets. I was disappointed they treated me that way on my wedding day. Also, Meyers bakery (their preferred vender) made my wedding cake. It was a simple white cake and it had a giant crack separating the two layers. The person who dropped the cake off clearly saw the giant crack on it and just left it there.
Beautiful hotel with gorgeous views, right on the marina. The staff was very accommodating. They bumped up our room at no added cost, giving us a presidential suite. This worked out perfectly for my bridal party as a getting-ready location and later as a honeymoon suite. Not the cheapest option, but it was certainly the most convenient for us as it was in the same parking lot of our reception venue (The Plaza at the Cabrillo Marina). Definitely enjoyed our stay and the room was extremely comfortable.
I marked it down a star due to difficulties with cell-service in the building, problems with the WiFi, and the lack of continental food or freedom in the restaurant area; my wedding party and I were unable to use any of their empty tables for so much as a card-game, without ordering something.
I was very excited to have my reception here, because it was close to the water and it was different then the regular golf course venue. I don't recommend this place for the following reasons:
1. At the food tasting we decided to go with the upgraded steak dinner plate because it was delicious and paying the extra for the beef was worth it. The day of the wedding the food was not as I had requested and it didn't taste like what I had tried at the food tasting. I requested the food to be served hot which it wasn't; it was cold. The taste of the food was not what I had previousley tasted; the cook did not get the recipe. I felt like I paid extra for nothing.
2. Before the reception started, our MC had to read the venue rules to our guests. We were never made aware that the venue rules had to be read at the reception.
3. I had my flip flops in a bag and the venue's day of coordinator told my husband he couldn't bring outside food into the venue; all I had were my flip flops in the bag.
4. The meat of the sliders that were brought out towards the end of the night was dry and hard.
5. We spent a lot of time discussing details with the event coordinator and the staff still got many details wrong. At my job mistakes need to be kept at a minimum and if mistakes do happen we need to fix them right away. Unfortunately this venue doesn't follow the same standard.
Don't waste your money at this place, if you want an ocean view venue go some place else and save yourself the disappointment.
Great location. Would highly suggest Madeo ball room -- especially if you have a 100+ people.
Excellent reception location for Wayfarer's chapel.
Affordable and great accomodations for your guests especially if you have a lot of out of towners.
Food was great -- ask for the prime rib!
Erica is great. She will go the extra mile to make sure your wedding is the way you want it.
I liked this hotel, and they were really accommodating to my group. The rooms were large, and had great marina views, but the hotel construction meant we dealt with three different fire alarms the morning of my wedding, which was less than ideal. Other than that, it was great!
From the day I requested information about having the wedding at this location, I was treated with a personal touch. Nikki (the catering manager) and her team were patient with me and helped me every step of the way. They were also very professional and made me feel like I was the only bride that day. My wedding was on 11/11/2011 and there were a ton of weddings that day. Not once did I feel like I was being brushed to the side. We also had "ify" weather. Nikki and her team were on top of things to make sure my guests were comfortable and my ceremony & reception weren't ruined. If I had a choice to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing.
When we were getting competely fed up with the venue we selected, with only a few weeks before the wedding, we contacted the Doubletree to inquire about having our wedding here.
They were amazing. They were able to design a customized menu, including alcohol, that almost matched the first venue. They returned all calls and emails on time and put everything they promised in writing. I would use them for an event in a heartbeat.
This was the perfect place for our smaller, intimate wedding reception of 75 guests. We wanted a location that didn't feel like a traditional hotel ballroom. The Madeo Room was exactly what we were looking for. Lots of windows with half the room looking out over the marina and the other half looking out to an adorable courtyard. Once the sun went down, the courtyard was illuminated with twinkle lights in the trees. The cocktail area & bar was separate from the dining room and plenty of space for people to take a break from the dance floor. The staff was friendly and courteous and the hotel wedding coordinator was amazing throughout the entire process. We had an amazing time and so did all of our guests!
We loved that this venue was right by the water. We had our wedding at the end of August so the breeze from the water was very nice and relaxing. The package deals are very affordable. Our catering manager was a bit lacking but she did try her best to please us at all times. The hotel seemed to be on the newer side also which is a plus, it hasn't been run down too much.
I loved the Madeo Reception and cocktail room the cocktail room was my favorite! Just the set up is awesome!
The large reception room so the tables were not to close together.;The hotel rooms were expensive and very outfated and dirty.
