Super professional, super clean, super easy to work with. A key component to the perfect wedding!
We hosted our wedding reception here and it was so beautiful. We had lots of out of town guests so to host our wedding reception and block off hotel rooms worked out really well for our guests. Sheila and her staff did a phenomenal job! Sheila was easy to work and made the planning really fun. Both Sheila and her staff on our wedding day knocked it out of the park. The food was fantastic, the service was top notch, the bartenders kept our guest entertained, and everyone had fun. We even included a kids room that way the kids and adults could have fun all night. The atrium allowed for natural light to peak in and helped make our day even more beautiful. This venue was absolutely perfect!
Sheila was our venue coordinator, and we loved her confidence. We had both our ceremony and reception at this venue which required Sheila and her staff to flip the atrium space. Her ability to take our vision with our centerpieces and effectively translate it into reality with the dinner tables and head table was impressive. The day of the wedding went off without problems. The food was delicious, and the wait staff were very professional, courteous, and attentive.
Any questions?
We selected the Doubletree Downtown Saint Paul for so many reasons but our top were the staff, the location, and the packages offered. We worked with Shiela throughout the planning process and she was more than accommodating especially with our room block. We had a large part of our guest list traveling in so the ability to get a nice room at a great rate and not have to worry about also coordinating shuttles or how people were going to get home was fantastic. All of the staff from Leona in the Rival house, Philip at the front desk and Nicole in the food and beverage department were amazing and went above and beyond. We received so many compliments on the food and everyone said they had a wonderful time, truly the 2 most important things for us when wedding planning. We went with the summit package and it was worth every penny. The food options were top tier, the hosted cocktail hour being included was so nice, and it also covered dj, drapery and our cake. Having 4 vendors locked up into one made it easy. The location provides something for everyone if you have a lot of people traveling and all within walking distance of the hotel. I have been in or a part of so many weddings and you realize what's most important in planning a wedding- the Doubletree met all of those needs.

It was a pleasure working with both you and Eric. We wish the happiest, healthy and success in your future as a married couple.
Sheila
If I could give them more stars, I would! I am a bride who had to reschedule THREE times due to COVID. The third time was because I got COVID the day before my wedding...it was insane. Sheila was our event coordinator, and without her, I don't think we would have made it through. The accommodation of her and the staff at the DoubleTree was unlike anything I had heard throughout this pandemic. Understanding is an understatement. They helped us through such a hard time. On top of that, the venue was stunning, the food was so delicious, and the vendors they recommended (decor/cake) was truly wonderful. I honestly don't have one negative thing to say about them. We won the jackpot with this one!!
We had a great experience at the Doubletree for our 9/19/2020 wedding. Wedding planning during a pandemic is not an ideal situation and the Doubletree staff went above and beyond to make our day perfect. Every worry or doubt I had was met calmly and lots of communication to ensure our day would be perfect and it absolutely was!! Thank you Doubletree team!
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the DoubleTree St. Paul downtown February 2020. Adena and the rest of the staff were absolutely incredible, and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs to truly make it the best day of our lives. We could not have picked a better venue to celebrate our wedding day!!!
This place is amazing! Pictures do not do it justice, it is a MUST see. The giant window will blow you away and made for such an amazing backdrop for our ceremony. The staff is so great to work with and will go above and beyond anything you ask for. We toured what seemed like 100's of venues and knew right away when we walked into the Doubletree that this was our venue. Adena was amazing from the beginning. Not only does she know whats shes doing from a venue stand point but was super helpful through all the planning process and even set us up with a few vendor friends that turned out to be awesome as well! We were so grateful to have her by our side through this. Our wedding was everything we wanted and more thanks to the staff at the Doubletree. Thank you so much!
Also, the Rival House is super cool and a great spot for a rehearsal dinner and for your guests to hang out at all weekend. We had so much fun there! Great staff there too!
Although the venue is stunning I would warn all couples to be extremely cautious when booking this venue. Adena is very nice and will say yes to anything and everything you ask for/about up front, but when it comes time to execute thing she will tell you no and you will have to fight tooth and nail for things she originally said absolutely no problem to in the first place. We had a few major issues with this venue and in hind site wish we had not used them.
Here are just a few of the many things that happened to us.
1) We had agreed the cake would be cut by 8pm and then be served to the head table and tables 1-3. Our cake was cut at 7:15, however the front three tables were never served cake, instead our expensive wedding cake was left in the back for the staff to enjoy.
2) There are approximately 30 hotel rooms that over look the reception hall, when booking the venue my husband and I specifically asked Adena if we could block off the rooms being that we did not want strangers to be overlooking our wedding. She without hesitation told us not to worry because they automatically block those rooms off for wedding guests and will not sell the remaining rooms unless the hotel fills up. Giving that our wedding was on Black Friday she was confident they would not fill up. Not only were our guests not given the rooms over looking the reception, instead being out on the 17th floor and having to be asked to be moved to a room with a view of the reception, they also sold the remaining rooms to random guests even though the hotel was no where near full occupancy. When I spoke to the front desk to ask them to please give the remaining guests who hadn’t checked in yet a room with a few he told me they were at 50% occupancy for the night of our wedding.
3) In the contract they charged us hourly for security, however not only did we not see one single security guard our entire wedding but we had three different wedding crashers that walked in in street clothes, were served alcohol by the bartender from our OPEN BAR, and sat down and started eating dessert before a family member noticed and asked them to leave.
4) We had welcome bags for all of the guests staying at the hotel, however even though we were told it was no problem to have them handed out at check in, only about half of our guests received our welcome bags. In the bag was a timeline of events for the weekend and unfortunately some of our guests missed activities they would have loved to have attended because the front desk never gave them their welcome bag.
5) Finally my husband is a huge ping pong fanatic and was really excited when Adena told us they had a ping pong table we could set up in our reception. At the final detailing when I asked her about it she said she would have to “see what she could do” and wasn’t sure if they could set it up. After reminding her how when touring she said we could absolutely use it no questions asked, she said we could put it in cocktail hour. I then asked for it to be put in the reception hall instead as we wanted guests to be able to go back and forth between there and the dance floor. For whatever reason this was a big deal and we had to fight to have the ping pong table at our reception like SHE had originally OFFERED.

Hello Jami,
First, thank you very much for the comment about our venue and its appearance. We are expanding even more on the appeal early next year! I want to apologize about the way you feel regarding about our team. The DoubleTree by Hilton...
St. Paul Downtown takes great pride in the service we provide to all our guests, meeting planners, and weddings. Our relationships with all guests and clients are very important to us and we have a very knowledgeable and accommodating team. Our wedding team is very dedicated to making all weddings wonderfully memorable.
After talking with the team and getting more insight on the situation about your concerns you. We do have some explanations we would like to share in more detail on the occurrences.
Typically for a wedding there are months of planning involved by a wedding party and/or a professional wedding planner. Your wedding party came to us with a challenge of getting your wedding off in a very short time frame. Adena, against her normal policies of planning a wedding, helped do just that. Adena did everything in her power to make sure you had a fabulous wedding in the tight time constraints.
1. In the review, you mention that our team sat and enjoyed your cake. We were instructed to serve the three head tables that seated 28 guests. The cake provide to us by the wedding party was only large enough to cut into 23 pieces, and that was a stretch. The Wedding server cut the cake while the wedding party was giving their speeches and we displayed the cake on the dessert table, so the 28 guests would be able to go get the piece of cake if so desired. This was a decision for a perception issue so the team did not leave out five people. We made a choice not to disrupt the speeches of your special day.
2. Regarding the venue facing rooms, we do apologize about the perception of other guests being able to see into the Atrium space. There are always factors when servicing guests. The only way to guarantee a block of the Atrium rooms for a wedding is for those rooms to be reserved, and paid for in the wedding room block. The hotel cannot predict if a current guest will need to stay longer, or we may need to transfer a guest to a different room, or if they need a late check out. In addition, for wedding guests we like to upgrade to present city views in the room. If members of your wedding wanted a suite or a higher room with views, we will accommodate those requests as needed. Based on the wording in the review, it doesn’t seem to have been an issue other than some of the wedding party was on the 17th floor? We will be very happy to do a hotel room audit to make sure there was no non-wedding party guest in the Atrium floors. We do everything we can to accommodate all the requests from all of our guests.
3. We have an in-house security team that is at the hotel 24/7. The security team makes rounds every 40 minutes on all floors to ensure the security of the building. They are dressed in plain clothes so they are not detected as they do their rounds. The goal of our security is to ensure everyone is safe everywhere. We believe that is good customer service for all guests. Our banquet bartender remembered the event and the people who came in, they tried to get a drink and he refused them service. We take our security and professionalism very seriously. Secondly, our security guard or manager on duty were never informed by anyone in the party of a disturbance.
4. To our understanding all, the wedding bags were delivered to all guests booked in the wedding block. If someone books outside the wedding block, it makes it impossible to know if they are with your party and deliver the wedding bags to those rooms. We are very sorry that some wedding guests did not get your wedding gift bags.
5. To comment on the Ping Pong table; we did deliver the Ping Pong table after the dinner service, this was discussed and agreed upon by both parties. We did not want a safety issue for any of the guests or our team members having to serve around Ping Pong games during the dinner period. We love it when groups are having a great time! However, we will not endanger anyone in the hotel so that is why the table was set up directly after dinner service.
We believe in our wedding team knowing what makes a perfect wedding, but given the short timing of the event and the requests we did our very best to accommodate. We believe our team went above and beyond to try and make this a great event. We are truly sorry you feel this way about the staff. It saddens us we did not live up to your expectations on your wedding day. We wish you and your husband much love and success in your marriage.
The venue, catering and coordinator are all top notch! Adena is very connected to and has worked with so many different types of vendors from around the cities, which made it even easier for us to plan from out of state. The large windows made for a stunning backdrop and the newly renovated ballroom elevated our cocktail reception and room flip leading to the dinner reception. The staff was all accommodating and friendly to us and all of our family, friends and guests.
We LOVED LOVED LOVED the DoubleTree! We signed our agreement with them before their remodel knowing they were just about to start their remodel so I was a little nervous what it would actually look like, but they did a fantastic job updating everything! We did the draping in the atrium which really added a level of elegance with the large window (which was our selling point). The new lights in the ballroom really make it so you don’t need much for decoration in there! Adena was fantastic to work with throughout the planning process! She replied to emails in a timely manner and always answered our questions! The rest of the staff was great too from the staff setting up on Friday while we were there to hotel front desk staff and of course Adena and her staff. It is super nice that Adena sort of acts as your day of coordinator by making sure venders arrive and helping with the timing of everything from the ceremony to dinner. I loved that we essentially got the space for the whole weekend! We were able to drop our décor off on Thursday, decorate Friday afternoon and didn’t need to get our things out until Sunday morning! The venue rental itself is super cheap because they have a food and beverage minimum, but we thought the food prices were pretty reasonable considering everything it came with, so we got a lot for our minimum. Adena was willing to work their food packages to really fit our needs too. We really wanted to do a hotel for a venue so we could stay there the night before and the night of and not have to deal with driving. One of the huge selling points for me was the capital suite hotel room! The girls all stayed in the room Friday night and got ready there on Saturday morning! This room is HUGE! It has a king bed, a full 8-person table, 2 chairs, 2 pull out couches, and tons of mirror space! We also had the adjoining room on both sides (which are just standard rooms). The location is also perfect where you could go do pictures by the river and get some downtown vibe. We had some issues with one of their preferred venders, but Adena totally vogued for us, had our backs and helped us get some money back! All in all this is a beautiful space, the staff is awesome to work with and we would have it there again in a heartbeat!

Hannah, we so enjoyed working with you and Curtis and LOVED having your wedding here. Thank you for being an amazing client and thank you for the kind words. Keep in touch!
Due to my school schedule, my husband and I were limited on dates available to book our wedding. This was the first venue we looked at and completely fell in love with it! Adena and her team bent over backward to help accommodate so our day was everything we ever imagined. Our guests loved the space and we still are getting compliments on our reception space!
I can’t thank Adena and all the staff for what they did for us to make our wedding perfect! From the day we started planning our wedding with the the Double Tree (21 months ago!) we had nothing but a great experience! Adena was very accommodating with all of our needs :) and prompt in responding to all questions and emails, which made wedding planning less stressful! Everything from the ceremony to the reception was beautiful! We can’t thank you enough and I would recommend this venue to anyone!!
Adena, Taylor and team made our wedding a dream come true! We had our ceremony and reception at the DoubleTree. The attrium shined for our ceremony and dinner while the ballroom was a perfect fit for cocktails and dancing! Our event flowed seemlessly and the staff was friendly and professional! The food was also amazing as our guests loved the mac and cheese bar and carving stations!
We were drawn to the DoubleTree by the inviting feel from our initial tour with Adena and the amazing atrium space with floor to ceiling windows. Everything from the rehearsal followed my dinner at the Rival House to the ceremony, social hour, dinner, and dance to the accommodations was perfect. Our suite had a dinning/conference table, sitting area with 3 lounge chairs and couch, small bar and kitchenette so we had plenty of space to invite family and friend up the next morning. Adena and Taylor were super responsive and answered all of our questions throughout our 5 months of planning and were present to ensure that everything ran smoothly. The DoubleTree works with amazing vendors that also helped to make our day more beautiful and special (lighting and draping). It was cold, super cold for April, and many of our guests commented on how nice it was to park car for the ceremony and not have to get our in the cold! We couldn't have been more pleased.
Can not say enough about how amazing this venue was for our 11/18/17 wedding! We got thrown into and unfortunate situation with our previous venue and Adena and Taylor were there to help us from the beginning. The were absolutely amazing. The staff, the food, everything was more than what I imagined. The venue is gorgeous! I would highly recommend this venue to anyone! Please make sure to work with Adena or Taylor as they both are hands down absolutely wonderful!

Oh Krystal, thank you so much for the kind words! You made it really easy for us, too; you both were so fun to work with, truly a lovely couple. I'm so happy that we were able to save the day for you after your stumble with the other venue. You...
r wedding was gorgeous, and thank YOU for the awesome pictures. :) Both Adena and I thank you so much for choosing us, and wish you and Matt all the happiness in the future!
This place is affordable AND awesome! I always dreamed about my wedding day and even though we had a strict budget, Adena and Taylor did everything they could to work with me and make my dream a reality. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was fun, and the service was flawless. It was everything I’d hoped for and then some.
We booked our wedding with this hotel and it was out of this world awesome! Taylor and Adena were amazing to work with from day one all the way through our wedding day. The room was decorated beautifully and was more than I could have even imagined. All of my guests still to this day are saying how great the wedding was. We hosted our rehearsal dinner the night before in the Rival House room on the and that was great too, we played ping pong and bags, ate great food and just had a nice relaxing evening. I would highly recommend this venue for anyone planning a wedding.
Response from the Vendor on 10/27/2017
Lucy, thank you so much! We cannot express how happy we are you booked with us and how gorgeous your wedding was! It was so much fun working with all of you. We wish you a lifetime of happiness! Adena and Taylor.
We had a great experience working with the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown St. Paul. We wanted our reception in a hotel, so that it would be easy for guests to retire as they pleased after dinner. This DoubleTree had no rental fee - every dollar we spent went towards our reception expenses. The food was fantastic. We had lots of space! We were able to have our dinner in the atrium and the dance in a ballroom! We felt that we got a great deal on our reception package. We would highly recommend!
We used the DoubleTree both for their large room for getting ready in the morning, and for the room block for our guests. The Parlor Suite we used for the bridal party to get ready in (hair, makeup, etc.) was HUGE and it was great. It worked perfectly for me to stay in the night before and wake up and start getting ready. The small bar and large conference table helped as well for us to spread out and have breakfast as well. We were able to book it Friday night for use on Saturday morning and got a late checkout, so we had plenty of time to use it until we had to head over to our venue - which was connected through the skyway system! That was a major plus. Our guests could get back to their rooms by walking over, as long as they had their room key, after they left the wedding. Parking in St. Paul can be a challenge so this was really great! The rooms were nice and a good price for being right in St. Paul and for having such a convenient connection to the venue we used.

Thank you so much for the kind words! we are so thrilled you are pleased with this venue and all we have to offer! We hope your day was magical and wish you a lifetime of love!
Beautiful hotel. Worked with them for 6 months and two days before they called and said they were overbooked and we're going to pay for us to stay at a much lesser hotel. We raised some hell and were able to keep our rooms, but it was so hot in the room and the thermostat didn't do anything so got no sleep either night.
We used the DoubleTree both for their large room for getting ready in the morning, and for the room block for our guests. The Parlor Room we used for the bridal party to get ready in (hair, makeup, etc.) was HUGE and it was great. I had a large bridal party plus two makeup artists, two hair stylists, and a couple personal attendants. Not to mention all the food, bags, dresses, and such that comes with all that! We had plenty of space and it was very cozy.
I can't even put into words how happy I was with my wedding experience at the DoubleTree in downtown Saint Paul. Cassie, Savannah, Brooke, and all the staff worked so hard to make sure that everything went smoothly and it was the day of my dreams. The atrium room is absolutely beautiful and we just loved all the natural light that the space offered. The food was delicious and the banquet staff was so professional and went above and beyond to make sure that the guests were happy. I can't say enough nice things about the DoubleTree and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an afford wedding reception location in the heart of downtown St. Paul.
We chose the DoubleTree by Hilton as one our our hotel accommodations for our guests for the weekend of our wedding and we are happy with the accommodations we made. They were very easy to get a hold of and the planning process was fairly painless. They hold a certain number of rooms under your wedding name and offer a group code to get a discounted rate (ours was $124). They add rooms to be held if needed and hold these rooms open at that price until about a month before the event. Guests could call or go online to make reservations. They emailed us a list of guests that have reserved rooms under our group code which was nice. They also offered a few hours of shuttle for our guests to and from the venue at no additional cost which was very convenient. If 30 rooms are blocked under your group code your standard room for the bride and groom is free. We did not have enough reservations to take advantage of this offer but they did upgrade us to a corner suite for free and allowed us an hour later check out which was appreciated. Some of the rooms are very oddly shaped but they have refrigerators and nice sized closets. The rooms are very average, nothing special, but worked nicely as our preferred hotel for guests.
Overall we had a great reception. The food was awesome, the room was set according to plan. Our coordinator did a good job keeping things moving. Our challenge was with the paperwork and some miscommunication early on. first there was a change in the minimum charge that we didn't catch (shame on us) until the second revision, and then I had to challenge the block room rate because I got two different numbers. They did honor the lower rate. I would use them again and the atrium ballroom is beautiful. All of our guests enjoyed the event and we did too. When we wound up with fewer guest than we expected, they let us keep the bar open to use the unspent amount of our minimum. It all worked out great.
had our August 2012 wedding here..now called double tree by hilton. turned out great..very flexible with set up and tear down which was awesome..food was good..large window wall is beautiful
We used them as our hotel. They were very accommodating to all of our guest even though the hotel was sold out they still made us a priority.
We had our wedding reception at the Hilton Garden Inn in Saint Paul. The staff was great to work with and they always answered all my questions promptly. The food was also good. We were able to have a beautiful reception and also accommodate our out of town guests while staying within our budget.
Such great employees. Very Accomadatin to our guests for sleep and for the shuttle
