For those who like to cut straight to the chase..
Doug and Glenn are without a doubt the (Wedding) King/Queen makers of the Lexington area.
Their connections in the Lexington we...
dding industry run deep and just by choosing them alone, every other wedding vendor we hired was excited to work with us.
I never in my life wanted to have a “Wedding,” I always said weddings were a waste of money- just go to the courthouse and fill out the paperwork. After the wedding that Doug and Glenn put together for us, I would have one every year if I could afford it.
————————————————————————
My wife and I live in Connecticut but had our wedding in Lexington, KY where my wife is from; so from the very start we were giving Doug and Glenn the challenge of working with a couple who was 700 miles away- didn’t phase them for a second.
Doug and Glenn were more like our Wedding “Counsel” than wedding planners. At every step they were there to guide us and give us advice about how to navigate whatever challenges we met- even when it was not beneficial to them. We came to trust them so much that our dialogues went from us asking for advice for each decision to us saying, “whatever you guys think” and even then they always gave us a couple options to choose from.
Whenever you hear about someone planning their wedding, amidst the excitement is almost always an equal amount of stress. My wife and I both work at least 60+ hrs a week yet we felt very little stress making choices and meeting deadlines during the wedding planning process- all because of Doug and Glenn. Even on our wedding day, Doug transitioned us so seamlessly between the different stages of the wedding that the whole thing seemed effortless.
My wife and I were laughing about similar experiences we both had during the wedding where we were mingling with the crowd and out of the corner of our eye we would see Doug standing quietly about 10ft away looking at us and we would immediately leave whatever conversation we were in and go to him where he would then direct us to a photoshoot here or there or our first dance or a cake cutting etc.
This is why I say that they are the wedding King/Queen makers. In shows and movies, whenever there is a prominent figure who looks like they have it all together, there is always someone in shadows who really deserves all the credit. That is who Doug and Glenn were for us. They took my wife and I who live too far away, work too much, and know too little to even THINK of pulling off a successful wedding and they turned it into the most amazing night that even our guests are still talking about.
We are forever grateful for them.
5 stars is not enough here. Doug and team were absolutely amazing in the planning and execution of a magical day for my daughter at The Kentucky Castle. They were patient, though...
tful, detailed, and communicative throughout our planning process. Doug fielded all my questions and ideas with grace and truthfulness, and never made us feel like we were being difficult or unrealistic. Coming from a detailed oriented person, Doug handled my daughter and me fantastically, and we really established a great relationship built on trust. This led to our family being completely relaxed and confident that the day would run smoothly, and that Doug would handle any complications along the way.
Doug and team also handled the design and execution of our flower decor. WOW. My daughter gave them a tough assignment - purple - and they delivered way beyond our expectations. The number of compliments we received was too high to count. They brought by daughter's vision to life beyond any dreams.
Their skillful coordination made my daughter's day one that many will not soon forget. While it was bittersweet to say goodbye when the night was over, we know many others will be in outstanding hands for their own day.
We truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Doug & Glenn! From the very first time we met them, we knew we were in the best hands. Their expertise, attention to detail, and c...
alm, reassuring approach made the entire planning process so enjoyable.
We had a very large wedding, with a 30-person bridal party and nearly 350 guests, and they handled every detail flawlessly. They went above and beyond to make sure our day was seamless, not just for us, but for our parents, bridal party, and all of our guests.
We keep saying that our wedding weekend felt absolutely magical, and we know that wouldn’t have been possible without them. If you’re looking for planners who are incredibly talented, genuinely kind, and truly invested in making your day unforgettable, look no further. We are so grateful to have had Doug & Glenn by our side and cannot recommend them highly enough!
Having Doug and Glenn with Doug Smith Designs + Events as our wedding planners was truly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. They worked with us for the past year an...
d a half, helping us plan every detail and making sure we stayed on schedule every step of the way. They coordinated with our vendors, kept us organized, and always made sure we knew what needed to be done and when. Their guidance made the entire planning process so much less stressful.
On our wedding day, they coordinated everything flawlessly. Because of them, my husband, our families, and I were able to relax and enjoy every moment without worrying about timelines, vendors, or what was happening behind the scenes. The day flowed so smoothly, and we never felt rushed or overwhelmed.
They were also our florists, and the flowers were absolutely stunning. Every arrangement was even more beautiful than I had imagined and perfectly brought our vision to life.
We truly couldn’t have asked for a more organized, talented, and caring team. Doug and Glenn went above and beyond to make our wedding day everything we dreamed it would be. We are so grateful for everything they did and would recommend Doug Smith Designs + Events to anyone planning a wedding. Thank you both for making our day so special. We will never forget it!

ed around my schedule seamlessly! They listened to all of my ideas and helped me make them a reality! They know the industry so well that they knew exactly who to call and how to best budget your money to be able to accomplish all of the things you want! They made the wedding planning process so much easier for me and removed so much of the stress! On the day of the wedding I was told many times I was so relaxed and that was honestly because I knew Doug and Glenn had everything under control and I just got to enjoy things! There were a few things that we noticed during the reception (like the band playing more slow music than we wanted) and all I did was make eye contact with Glenn or Doug and they were immediately headed my way and listened to my concerns then made sure it was taken care immediately. Also, they made all of my floral dreams come true! The arrangements for the aisle, tables, ceremony alter, and bouquets were all breath taking and exactly what I described to them! I have people asking me all the time who did my florals for my wedding! After Doug and Glenn have been apart of 5 weddings in my family, I still cannot recommend them more!
Doug and Glenn were truly a 10/10! My best friend suggested I reach out to them when I was feeling completely overwhelmed during the wedding planning process. She told me they had ...
done a phenomenal job with her sister’s wedding and thought of things they didn’t even know they needed, and now I know exactly what she meant.
From our very first conversation, I could tell they genuinely cared about making our day special. They are patient, kind, organized, and connected with all the best vendors. Every detail, big and small, was handled with such care and intention. They guided us through every step, brought creative ideas to life, and made sure I never felt stressed or unsure.
Thanks to Doug and Glenn, our wedding day was beyond anything I could have imagined. Our wedding was absolutely magical from start to finish. Everything ran seamlessly, and I was able to just enjoy the day knowing they had it all handled. It was perfect in every way, all because of them.
Doug and Glenn don’t just plan weddings, they create unforgettable experiences. I will forever be grateful for the heart, expertise, and joy they brought to our big day!

day perfect. Every little detail was handled with such care and precision that we didn’t have to worry about a single thing.
My husband and I were planning a Kentucky wedding from Virginia. Doug coordinated the vendors and told us everything we needed to know about Kentucky and Lexington.
On the wedding day, Doug made everything run so smoothly. It felt effortless that I felt bad for being anxious. He kept everyone on schedule, handled any hiccups before we even knew about them, and somehow made sure we both had food, water, and a lot of fun.
Our families and bridal party kept saying how amazing he is as a person and coordinator. My mom was literally in tears with gratitude. The whole day flowed beautifully thanks to his expertise and kindness.
If we could do it all again we would hire Doug sooner. If you’re on the fence about hiring a coordinator, do it (and hire this one). It will be the best decision you make for your wedding.

Not only was our experience with planning incredible, but Doug created the most stunning bouquet for my bridesmaids and I. We received several compliments throughout the entire night regarding the reception set up and florals.
Our families raved about Doug and Glenn all weekend and how they would be recommending them to everyone they know due to their attention to detail, making the bride and groom feel comfortable, and their abilities to make us laugh when everyone was a little nervous.
Doug and Glenn’s work made us experience the best weekend of our lives and we are forever grateful!

Glenn was our day of coordinator and was a true lifesaver! He ensured that everything ran smoothly, from the timing of the ceremony (and making sure the bridal party was on time!) to all of the little reception logistics. He was always there when we needed him but also gave us the space to enjoy our day. I am so pleased with how seamlessly everything flowed throughout the day, and that’s entirely thanks to Glenn!
Our floral arrangements were beyond stunning! They were everything we hoped for -- simple, elegant and beautiful! Doug turned our vision into reality and we are so grateful! We wouldn't have changed a single thing about any of our florals.
Overall Experience:
Together, the wedding day coordinator and floral design team transformed our dream wedding into a reality. Their professionalism, creativity, and dedication exceeded our expectations. We’re so grateful to have had them by our side on our special day! If you're looking for a team that will take care of every detail and deliver exceptional results, look no further than Doug & Glenn. Coordinating: Doug was with us all day, from b...
efore we arrived at the venue, until after we left. He was on top of every question and need, and made sure that every transition throughout the day went flawlessly. From the second we arrived, he was making sure everyone was comfortable and on track for the perfect day. Whether it was helping the bridal party organize their supplies and snacks, making sure the vendors were all on track, making sure the service was magical, or making sure we got our boxed up leftovers from the caterers, Doug was there every single step of the way. If you’re on the fence about hiring a coordinator, go for it, and hire Doug. Having him take care of everything freed up so much space for us to enjoy time with our guests and take in the day without stress.
Flowers: I simply can’t rave enough about the perfect florals from Doug. My bouquet took my breath away the first time I saw it. The guys’ boutonnières were the classiest ones I’ve ever seen. The venue decor and centerpieces were the definition of classy elegance. Doug took my vision and made it happen. Definitely a 10/10.

Doug & Glenn did an amazing job from start to finish for our destination wedding in Charleston, SC!
They did the planning, coordinating, florals and designs. We did many meetings...
here in KY and took 2 trips down to the destination location for more hands-on planning.
Their professionalism is top-notch when dealing with all vendors, myself and my family. The week of the wedding Doug handled everything and kept our timeline in place. The visions I had of the wedding day were executed perfectly, from linens, to florals to decor.
If I could add ab extra star 6/5, my entire wedding party couldn’t get over how great Doug was from just the 2 days they had with him of rehearsal and wedding day.
Thank you Doug for everything you did for us! We couldn’t have asked for a more magical wedding!

ime to listen to our daughter about the type of flowers she wanted and how she wanted them. Believe me he delivered and couldn't be more happy. We also want to thank Doug for taking the time to get Lily of the Valley for our daughter's bouquet. It is a special flower in our family and has been used in her mother's bouquet some fourth years ago. Doug even took leaves from our yard and incorporated them into my daughter's bouquet as something old. As these plants originally came from her grandmother's house. It was special for us to know they were in the bouquet and appreciate Doug's thoughtfulness. But that is Doug. You won't go wrong using Doug Smith Designs.

thanks to their services — it was far from it. I hired Doug for day of coordination and floral services. Doug was always very attentive to my emails, zoom calls, and text messages. Answering my thousands of questions professionally and in a timely manner. As someone who had never helped planned a wedding before, his advice and expertise on every thing weddings was truly so valuable to me. Doug has a person for EVERYTHING. My wedding day ended up being so much more than I could have every imagined. My reception and ceremony spaces were decorated beautifully. They made all my visions and Pinterest boards come to life, and then some. As far as coordination of the day — everything flowed seamlessly. And PROPS to them for managing to get my bridal party and family to where they needed to be. If anything went wrong on my wedding day, my husband and I didn’t know about it. Doug and Glen had it covered without us ever knowing! I cannot recommend them more.
As far as the floral services — they were absolutely AMAZING. Some of the most beautiful arrangements and blooms I have ever seen.
Over all, I could not think of one negative thing to say. For all future brides/grooms planning a wedding — I would recommend their services a hundred times over.
