I wanted to work with a wedding planner because I was planning a wedding in a city to which I had just recently moved and because I knew that there is so much that goes in to a wedding that I was simply not aware of when I got engaged. My family hired Kathy from Dream Wedding and Event Planners because she was highly recommended by the events staff at our venue (The Detroit Institute of Arts) and because when we met with her, we could tell she was an expert in wedding etiquette and had many resources at her fingertips with her years of experience in planning weddings.
Throughout my interminably long engagement (18 months), Kathy was always available to me and always professional and timely. She served as a sounding board for me and my family as we navigated everything from engaging vendors to ironing out the big day's final timeline.

The day of my wedding, Kathy was truly invaluable and a consummate professional. While allowing me to enjoy the day and relax, Kathy and her team were behind the scenes ensuring every last detail was tended to. She made sure that everyone was where they were supposed to be when and made everyone feel at ease. I know she put out some fires for us along the way that day (with such a large event, something is bound to come up!) but on that day, in my eyes, everything went as it was supposed to and I was none the wiser, enjoying every minute of such a perfect celebration.

• Before we had hired you, there wasn't too much that I was frustrated with at the time because to me we were so far ahead of the game with a lot of our wedding planning, but we were so far ahead and so far out from the wedding I was not thinking about all the little details that went along with the day. So if anything was to have frustrated me, it would have been all the little details.
• After hiring you, you helped in so many ways. Keeping everything in order and on track, making sure that we had all the little details in order as well as all the details in general.

Thanks to Kathy our day was amazing! We couldn't have done it without Kathy's diligent attention to detail. She was there to provide advice on everything from etiquette to vendor needs and many other things that I wouldn't have even thought about. From step one she was there to help is find and secure the best vendors and keep them all on the same page. She was a wonderful liaison between myself and our vendors especially when I needed someone to go to bats for me. She was always happy to get a detail in a contract clarified and she never let me get stuck paying for services we didn't need.
The day of our wedding she was there to keep everything on schedule and running smoothly. I forgot my wedding license and she was able to have it brought to me on time as to not cause delays. I was very lucky to have her and her staff to bail me out of that one. Having her and her staff for the day set my mind at ease and helped me just be able to enjoy my wedding.

By far the best decision my fiancé and I have made throughout this entire wedding planning process was hiring Kathy. Immediately from our first encounter, I knew that she was the wedding planner for us. And goodness gracious was I right!!!
Kathy is extremely organized, detail oriented, and there for us whenever we need her. Whether its a text, phone call or even the occasional late night email, she is always prompt in her response. There is no way we could have done any of this without her. My fiancé and I are very busy professionals, and with just 2 months left until the wedding day we are more than prepared and organized, (and stress free) thanks to Kathy.

I honestly don't know where to start when thinking about the phenomenal job Kathy did with our wedding. From the very first phone call I felt at ease. My husband and I are both in medical school, were planning a wedding from a different city, and moved the date up a full year so the stress quickly added up. The minute we hired Kathy that all changed. Every single vendor she recommended was best in their area of expertise. I would make a trip into town where she would have a whole day's itinerary set up for me with vendors, making all the calls and arrangements beforehand. That was amazing. She attended the most important vendor meetings, negotiated contracts, confirmed with vendors the week before, and probably a million other things I wasn't even aware of! Our wedding was honestly a fairytale come true - I still have not stopped getting compliments on every aspect of the day. She kept us on budget, gave us a timeline of when things needed to be accomplished by, and was always there if we had questions or concerns, usually answering emails within 24 hours. We never would have had 1/8th of the wedding we did without this woman! The day of, her team floated seamlessly around making sure we stayed on track without being obtrusive. I cannot say enough good things about Kathy! If you are looking for an expert in the business who is also reasonably priced look no further! We love Kathy and cannot thank her enough for the wonderful job she did!

Kathy did a wonderful job working my myself and my mother in regarding to planning my wedding. I was living in Chicago with our wedding back in Ann Arbor, MI and therefore I was unable to attend some important meetings and Kathy was a great help to my mom to make some decisions and advice with certain aspects of the wedding. She was extremely organized and was very prompt with emails and phone calls. She came prepared to meetings and extremely professional. Kathy was familiar with the wedding business and had great vendor suggestions to make our day perfect. I can't thank Kathy enough for her assistance especially working with my mom and making sure we were on schedule!
I was very skeptical when my fiancé approached me about hiring a wedding planner. I am very frugal with my money and our projections were already putting us over budget. We were getting in frequent arguments about money and we were beyond stressed. The day we met Kathy everything changed. From the moment we walked into her office and sat down with her to discuss what our goals were (a free consultation), the stresses from all the planning seemed to lift off of our shoulders. She was very direct with us, letting us know our expectations for the wedding were going to take us over our hopeful budget. At the same time we realized what a good resource she was. Name any vendor, whether it be a DJ, makeup artist, florist, jeweler, hair stylist, tux place, etc. She knew the best in the business, the best for the money, and the ones to stay away from due to her many years in the business. She gave us her personalized checklists and timelines to make sure we thought of everything beforehand so the weeks prior to the wedding weren’t too stressful. She also gave advice on what things were trending, what guests appreciate at weddings, and what is not necessary. The day of the wedding she was there with her assistants and emergency kit, for anything that could possible go awry at a wedding; things we wouldn’t have even thought about, and made sure everything was running smoothly from the beginning of the day until the end of the night. Being a guy, I thought a wedding planner meant they would take our money and completely plan the wedding. That is not the case. Think of it as playing a video game with the strategy guide. You still play the game and get the full story and experience; you just don’t spend 48 hours trying to walk through a door that won’t open, breaking a controller and drywall in the process. To put in in my new wife’s words, “Kathy is a godsend”. Thank you Kathy for everything you have done for us, you were like family through our wedding planning journey.

Prior to meeting Kathy I was overwhelmed, anxious, and stressed. As a perfectionist, it is not easy for me to delegate tasks to others. I had no idea where to start and who to trust for guidance. Kathy Byrum of Dream Wedding & Events was fabulous to work with. I was the MOB planning the wedding for my daughter who lives out of State. Kathy guided me through the process so no detail was left out. She & I collaborated together, the end result was a magical day for everyone involved; I cannot sing her praises enough. I appreciated Kathy's prompt communication; response to inquiries usually immediate but always within 24 hours. I couldn't begin to guess how many edits she had to make to the timeline and production schedules; she had unlimited patience! We had the great and fun honor of having Kathy as our wedding planner. My son and his fiancé are both in medical school and were next to impossible to lock down on ideas and needs, but Kathy handle it with amazing ability. She would provide them with 2 or 3 choices, followed up with them, sometimes had to chase them down, but in the end she provided them with the best in the business, on every level. Her selection of vendors is incredible. Every person she recommended was top in their field and not the most expensive. We loved working with every one of them. Once the choices were made she set up appointments with them to meet that fit everyone's schedules. We also live on the west side of Michigan and our reception was in Dearborn so it was not easy for us but Kathy made it simple and convenient. From the start of the process Kathy kept us all up to date on everything needed to make this a perfect day. She checks and double checks every aspect of every part of the day. Just a few days before the wedding we had everything organized and ready for us. One final meeting before the day and our job was done. Kathy and her staff handled everything! Our day was perfect, our guests raved over and over that is was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to, and it was all because of Kathy's ability to oversee and address every detail. She is really incredible. She even helped me organize things for my family outside of the wedding party. She confirmed our limo (which did not have our reservation, but Kathy had a limo waiting for us with only one days notice) and made sure everyone felt comfortable and needs were met. We had a really tough woman at the church to deal with but Kathy stood back and handled this situation like the pro she is. In the end, we had a day that our kids will remember for the rest of their lives. I have been a business owner for over 30 years. To watch Kathy give of her talent and time the way she does I know is unmatched in any industry. We highly recommend Kathy for your perfect day. Kathy was absolutely fantastic and so helpful. She is very organized and I was definitely relaxed and felt so relieved once she was on board! My wedding was amazing and everything was taken care without any issues!! She has many contacts and doesn't waste any time helping you secure all your vendors! A must hire!!!
Kathy was fantastic throughout our wedding planning process. At first, we weren't sure if we even needed a planner, I figured we could keep track of everything ourselves.. but looking back I realize how important she was and we wouldn't have been able to throw the party we did without her help.
She kept us on track with certain milestones to make sure we didn't fall behind time-wise. She tracked all our vendor contracts, decisions, and next steps. She was always very friendly and understanding in our decision-making process, and definitely relieved a lot of stress for my bride. She also has a lot of connections and good advice on vendors - her experience in the industry is a nice asset to have. She'll bring knowledge to the table that you can't just google or find on the knot.
During the day of the wedding we were so much more relaxed knowing Kathy was there making sure everything went smoothly (and it did). Overall, she did an amazing job and I highly recommend her to anyone getting married!
I was very happy to have Kathy helping me plan my wedding. Since the first day, I knew I would have my bases all covered. I am one to get tied up in aesthetics and details (flowers! dresses! sparkly things!). Kathy is a master of the "big picture" - logistics, organization, coordinating vendors, and overall planning. She helped me stay on track with what I needed to accomplish at each point in the planning process, including tasks I never even considered. Another benefit of having Kathy on board is that she has an inner circle of vendors/professionals that she has grown to trust over the years. For example, researching 7 or so photographers, with a range of prices/styles was much easier than digging through the hundreds listed on the knot, etc. Especially when I didn't have time to meet different options in person, coming into Detroit only once in a while. I was very pleased with all of the vendors she suggested. This is priceless because the internet when planning a wedding is an overwhelming, black hole of a place! I still went there at times, as I wanted certain things a little "outside the box", and Kathy supported those decisions non-judgmentally. She not only helped me, but worked with my mom a lot to figure out guest accommodations, among many other things, and went to meetings with her when I wasn't able to make it. She helped to coordinate between the band, hairdressers, makeup artist, bakery, venue, to put together a very detailed timeline that may have seemed over the top at first, but it was so nice to have "security blanket" for the weekend, knowing everything was going to run smoothly. She always responded very promptly, and answered all of our questions in a very organized way. The wedding was still very much my own vision and style, but it was so great to have someone else staying on top of the 'nuts and bolts!. I thought I would be able to handle everything before I got started, but I had NO IDEA what a big deal planning a wedding was! Anyone would gain some sanity, security, and a better/smoother event by having Kathy in their corner!
I don’t know where to start that to express how much I enjoyed working with th “Dream Wedding and Event Planner”. I believe every girl has a dream of her own special day. So do I. My husband and I did not decide to have Wedding this year due to the overseas working issue until the three month before the wedding on Oct 10th 2015. It was in very short time to prepare my dream wedding and I really thought that I wouldn’t be able to make it. Then I found Kathy. She cleared all the things up for me and made me feel a lot more confident to have a wedding before the weather gets too cold in Michigan. I got back in town one month before the wedding, and everything was just under control so well by Kathy. Everything I am concerned about that she already took good care of. And she has no limit to provide any help about the wedding, and always at the first time replying with her support and in professional way. And any ideas I have about the wedding was always her first priority, even though it could sounds undoable.
The more I work with Kathy, the more I rely on her. She is not only has really great taste (Which makes her may be the best choice of the wedding planner), but also she has a beautiful, crystal heart that always concern others, and could always stand as the others point of view. We just love her after we know her more and more by time. She is very detailed, warm-hearted, open minded. And it such a gift that she is the person who has great ability to communicate and cooperate with people, strong management skills, and also very organized! I have to admit that I wasn’t believed how much a wedding planner may help. Of course a lot couple could plan their wedding by their own. But after I have Kathy, I really feel thankful to have her. Not only because how much time I have saved, but also she knows exactly for every single step. I could never imagine how stressful would be when the wedding day come closer and closer, I got freak out and there were actually so many things need to take care of. With that being said I cannot stress enough how invaluable it was to have a good wedding planner. Over the course of the year+ leading up to the wedding, Kathy Byrum not only provided her expertise and guidance but also took a lot of the worry off of our shoulders when it came to the details and execution. We put our trust in her and were not disappointed.
If that wasn't relief enough...she (and her staff) were also with us from morning to night on the wedding day and WOW were we happy to have them there! It really is important to have someone with you who takes on the hectic schedule of the day necessary to pull of a large wedding so that YOU and the BRIDE can relax, enjoy the special moments, and make lifetime memories....I've been asked several times if a wedding planner is necessary or worth it and my response is always the same, "Absolutely!".

Kathy took care of my daughter as if she were her own. The bridesmaids were treated like princesses. Anything they needed - from pressing out wrinkles to re-curling their hair - was provided.
Any vendor mistakes were quickly handled or eliminated and Kathy always had a smile on her face so I never knew of any glitches.

Kathy Byrum was my wedding planner and I have nothing but excellent things to say about her and her team. She really made my wedding day spectacular. Throughout the planning process, she responded so quickly to all of my emails and calls multiple times a day! She is so detailed in her planning and knows many people in the business. She has a ton of experience so she seems to know what to do in every situation and never makes you feel like you are being a burden or a headache. My wedding was very beautiful and everything I wanted it to be. I will never forget how hard she worked to make my wedding day amazing. I would highly recommend Kathy and her team!
As my new wife had already mentioned, We contacted Kathy rather late in wedding planning. We only had a month remaining until the wedding and we were drastically behind in every that needed to be done. When we contacted Kathy, she helped us completely organize all of the logistics of the wedding and created a time schedule for everyone in our wedding ceremony. She was absolutely fantastic for us every step of the way. She spoke to all of our vendors prior to the ceremony to make sure everything was in order and kept us on time for all proceedings throughout the day from pictures to cutting the cake. Picking a planner was a tough decision because we had no idea what was ahead of us in planning our wedding and it was a big decision to pick the right person to assist us on planning and organizing the wedding. When my wife first spoke with Kathy, she was very pleasant, enthusiastic, and supportive of our idea of having a mixed wedding. As complicated as our wedding was going to be with two cultures coming together, Kathy assured us that she would work closely with us to make it magical. When the day finally came, it really turned out to be more than what my wife and I had envisioned. With the help of other vendors and her guidance, we were able to pull off an amazing wedding. She did a great job staying organized, especially with timing so that could reserve the best of the best vendors. She had good rapport with these individuals and she gave us a good variety to choose from. When it came time to meet, she would be very organized and top of her game to make the best of the time we had, which was very important as both my wife and I had very limited time available and worked from out of town. It would be complicated bringing our two unique customs together, but she was very attentive and paid close attention to the details so that nothing was missed. At times when we had a hard time seeing what the final product would look like, Kathy knew how it would come together and was able to pick up on our vision. She worked hard with the vendors and even explained ideas that we could not put out in words. When the day came, she took control and directed everyone perfectly so that it came together better than what we had expected. She took care of all the major talks with the vendors and other participants so that we didn't have to. On the wedding day, everything ran smoothly under her direction. This was most impressive since we had so much jammed into one day with two unique weddings and a reception. I highly recommend Kathy and Dream Wedding and Event Planners to other couples looking to get married in the future. You will be pleasantly surprised how well she does. With all the craziness involved in planning a wedding, she does a great job keeping the couple calm and cool (of course you have to be patient and not crazy to start with, like my wife and I were :)). So my husband and I worked with Kathy with dream wedding and event planners for our wedding. First of all, I must say that she did an EXCELLENT job. We highly recommend her as your wedding planner and here is why:
1. From the very start, Kathy was so personable. What made me choose her was the fact that even from the initial consultation (before we even chose her), she set aside the time to do a skype interview. She was so polite and so nice, and I instantly knew she was the one. Even after we started officially working with her, she is an incredibly nice person and easy to talk to and get along with. We felt as if we had known her for years...and we still miss her!
2. Me and my husband are both very busy with our jobs and lives and therefore we needed someone who could take over yet still have us involved with all decisions. Which Kathy did. We had multiple meetings set up to meet with Kathy as well as the vendors. This was all set up by Kathy, we were just told where and when, which was perfect since we are so busy and dont have the time to set this up ourselves.
3. SHE IS SO ORGANIZED!! Our wedding was a two day Indian and Persian event so there were 2 ceremonies and the reception, so the day was super busy. Yet Kathy and her team were able to help keep it together and organized. Everything went exactly as planned. Her timelines are on point. I really felt like I could trust her the entire time and with all the details. She made sure to contact vendors and make sure everything was perfect.
4. She was available all the time. I was able to email her/call her/text her/skype her whenever I needed. She would respond to emails SO quickly it was amazing.
5. Her vendor selections were great. She has a lot of experience so she knows who the great vendors are. Our wedding looked amazing and it was all because of the choices she had supplied us with for vendors.
6. OUR WEDDING WAS MAGICAL! It was the wedding I had dreamed for and Kathy helped make it all a reality. All my guests were telling me this was the most amazing wedding they had been to... from the decor, flowers, food, music, cake, and flow of the wedding. All thanks to Kathy!
So basically, all in all, if you would like to have your wedding go smoothly, have it look gorgeous, be able to trust someone to take care of everything and make good recommendations, and be there every step of the way with you...I would highly recommend Kathy with dream wedding and event planners. She made our dream wedding come true!!!!

When my husband and I decided to have our entire wedding ceremony and reception at our home church, we knew we would be responsible for more than the average couple. While we had no idea how much more, we soon found out. We contacted Kathy later in the game than we probably should have, but she happily jumped right in and began coordinating vendors, finetuning our timeline, and getting us organized. After just one meeting my husband and I felt a huge weight lifted off our shoulders! Kathy is extremely knowledgeable with a great personality; she is so much fun to work with but also gets business taken care of quickly and efficiently. By the time the wedding day rolled around we had no worries that everything would go as planned. On the day of the wedding Kathy took care of absolutely everything. Due to the fact that we were not at a traditional venue, he went so far above and beyond. She took on the tasks of guiding our guests from the ceremony to cocktail hour to the reception, made sure our drink dispensers stayed full and set up our milk and cookie favor display, all while coordinating vendor arrival and set up and making sure everything went smoothly. We had previously had a tricky experience with the dj we hired before contacting her, but before my husband and I arrived at the reception she had already spoken to him and had everything resolved. I owe the perfect, relaxing, stress-free wedding day we had to Kathy! I don't even want to think about what it would have been like if she had not been there with her care, expertise and attention to detail. We had my daughter's wedding at Suburban collection showplace in Novi. The venue was wonderful Courtney and Lauren were the best to work with. Our wedding planner Kathy was so detail oriented, professional and very kind. we trusted her and every one she recommended were very knowledgeable on what they were doing. Name some of the vendors, Linens and beyond (Loretta), Ralph for flowers from Bellisario Florist, the photographer, cake, videographer, hair and makeup and so on, they were the best we could have. If I have to do it all I will have every sigle one of them again. Thank you all you guys were the best, and Thank you Kathy.
Working with Kathy was amazing. I spent 4 or 5 months trying to do everything on my own and eventually decided that I just couldn't do it. I liked Kathy from the minute I met her. She was knowledgeable and ended up saving a me a lot of money on items like linens and decor. She surely has a lot of connections and made my wedding go smoothly. Her and her team showed up on time the day of the wedding and we did not have a single glitch in our special day. My wedding was amazing and I appreciate the help from Kathy and her team!!
Kathy was absolutely great to work with - I worked with her mostly on our wedding day because I live in California and my mom took on most of the planning - but I know that Kathy was an invaluable resource during the planning process. My personal experience with Kathy and the Dream Wedding Planner team was very positive. They are incredibly organized and made the day of the wedding very easy. Kathy immediately got to work making a budget & timeline, contacting vendors & venues, and making sure we were on track for our Dream Wedding. I can't tell you how many times we had to make a change or adjust something - and immediately, like magic, we'd have a revised budget/timeline/task list.
Everyone she referred us to - the florist, photographer, cake designer, DJ, dress alterations tailor, makeup artist, hair stylist, etc - was top notch and we were more than pleased with their services. People commented on how beautiful the arrangements were, how great our photos turned out, how yummy the cake was, how beautiful my makeup looked.... it was because we hired the best vendors and we didn't have to search for them - Kathy brought them to us!
We are a very busy couple and didn't have a lot of time to plan or have meetings, so Kathy did email/phone conversations with us to help save us time and she even met with vendors for us when we couldn't make it. She was always available by phone or text and she even graciously talked me down from a few bridezilla meltdowns!
Many times, I didn't even know what I wanted, just an idea of something, and she made it happen. Things that we would never have thought about - for example, what we'd be eating while having our hair done or in the party bus - were taken care of.
She wasn't the church coordinator, so she didn't have to be at the church for the rehearsal to support us - but she did, thank goodness, because the church coordinator made many mistakes and Kathy was always there to pick up the slack!
The day of the wedding was amazing, it went so smoothly - from the preparations, to the church service, to photos, to the coffee hour and cocktail hour, to the reception. it was beautiful and truly more than I could ever have hoped my wedding to be! Many people have said it was one of the best weddings they'd been to and my family was all amazed at what a great job "I" did on my wedding - my secret was Kathy.

We hired Kathy Byrum with Dream Wedding and Event Planners because we didn't want to stress or be overwhelmed with what was to be the most important day of our lives. Every time someone asked why we hired a planner, my husband told them the less I stressed, the better – and I have to say, there was not a single issue on the day of our wedding that caused any concern for me. In fact, my hair stylist told me I was one of the calmest brides she had every worked with, I had nothing to worry about – everything was planned in advance, Kathy had been in touch with all the vendors the days leading up to the wedding, so I was just left to spend the day getting ready with my closest friends and family. I must say, this was the most valuable part of her services, the fact that I never worried or dealt with any issues the day of my wedding was astounding – I feel like there is always something, but not with Kathy, my bridal party and our parents didn't have to lift a finger or worry about a single thing. That was the best!
Kathy helped us from the beginning to end, she provided checklists, suggested vendors, helped with the design, coordinated everything at the rehearsal and day of – she even went above and beyond to steaming my wedding dress and transporting it to the venue after it got wrinkled in the garment bag on the way to the hotel. One of things we really appreciated was that Kathy did a great job at recommending vendors, there were a couple times I had suggested using someone I found, every single vendor we selected was based on Kathy’s expert recommendation. Our vendors were top-notch and together helped us to execute a fantastic day of our dreams. We were very happy with all of our vendors; they were truly the best out there.
A benefit of hiring a planner was that Kathy also did a great job of keeping me on track, it can be overwhelming to know which step on the wedding to-do list needs to be checked off next, so she walked us through step by step – always making sure we were getting something accomplished. In fact, about six months before our wedding, we had all our vendors selected and were so caught up with planning – there was a lull in activity, which was kind of nice, we were definitely very prepared for our big day.
Kathy kept in good contact with us, always touching base via emails, she was always quick to answer questions and provide advice when I asked for it – even sticky etiquette questions. The very few snags we encountered in the planning process, she was fast to suggest alternatives or reassure me it would all work out in the end, she understood what was important to me.
Our wedding was truly the most beautiful and elegant wedding we could have ever asked for, we received so many compliments from the décor to the food. Kathy understood my vision and helped me to pull it off. There is not one single thing I would have changed about the day, it was absolutely wonderful and I am grateful to Dream Wedding and Event Planners for helping to plan and deliver it. And I owe that feeling to one amazing wedding planner, Kathy Byrum. She worked with my wife and me in every aspect. She made wedding planning fun for us. She helped me find the perfect tuxedos, from Sarno & Sons in Pennsylvania. We had an amazing wedding day! Kathy and her team handled everything. We didn't have to worry about any details. She worked with all of the creative tendencies of my wife, including her surprise walk down the aisle. Kathy is a wonderful and talented wedding planner who clearly loves her job. My husband and I initially hired Kathy to help us plan and coordinate a casual, backyard wedding. After she invested many hours communicating with various tenting specialists and caterers, it became clear to us that due to our ballooning guest list we would not be able to have the backyard wedding we initially wanted. So, we scrapped the original plan, and I described to Kathy what I was looking for in a new venue. Kathy began tirelessly searching for a new venue and found one that suited our tastes perfectly.
After we chose the venue, Kathy essentially planned the entire wedding in fewer than three months. Her expertise in all things wedding allowed us to relax. She recommended our amazing photographer and talented florist. She also provided excellent advice regarding wedding etiquette.
When several unforeseen issues with the venue arose due to a change in their staff, Kathy did a remarkable job of defusing the conflicts. Had it not been for her, several major issues would not have been resolved; I know I would not have been able to handle them myself.
On the day of the wedding, Kathy and her team kept everything running smoothly. She provided us with a detailed timeline and itinerary, which gave us piece of mind. Kathy and her ‘Dream Team’ set up all of our decorations (excluding the flower arrangements, which were set up by our florist) and made sure everything was absolutely perfect. When she discovered that the venue did not have the table numbers, she went to the store to purchase them while I was getting into my gown!
Our wedding was beautiful, and we owe much of that to Kathy. Her warm personality and enthusiasm drew me to her. She is easy to talk to, extremely knowledgeable, understanding, and honest. It's really hard to even decide where to begin with Dream Wedding Planners. We hired Kathy for our event as we lived in California but were holding our wedding in Mackinac Island, MI. We had a strange request: a magical, one of a kind, dark, steampunk masquerade. The kind of wedding you see all over Pinterest and magazines, the kind of wedding that brides-to-be drool over and dream about. We didn't want to fall short, we really wanted it to be an event that no one would ever forget.
Kathy and her team did everything for us from beginning to end. She recommended the most superb vendors, and organized all the little details, from payment schedules and guest lists to RSVPs, to the point that planning such an extravagant event was a breeze, even from across the country. I can't even begin to explain how incredible our wedding was. I literally had people from all around the island stopping the groom and I (and our wedding party) all day to take snapshots and photos of us, and ask us about our spectacular nuptials. We actually had a huge crowd of people standing from afar, taking pictures of our ceremony because the decorator that Kathy had recommended did such a phenomenal job. Our wedding was showing up all over Instagram and Facebook with people talking about this unbelievable wedding they saw on Mackinac Island!

When my husband and I began our wedding planning process we assumed we'd be engaged about a year and knew that with two very demanding careers we would have to enlist the services of a wedding planner. Not only was she able to calm my nerves, but in her true fashion she took care of everything! In no time at all Kathy had contacted every vendor, had their dates of availability, and even had potential wedding dates lined up! I can never thank her enough for being so flexible and calm about the entire situation.
She's incredibly easy to talk to, pays attention to every detail and has relationships with some of the most amazing vendors. I'll never forget walking into the ballroom prior to everyone entering and being completely blown away. Each and every little detail that Kathy and I had discussed was there and was better than I could have ever dreamed! This is all thanks to the unbelievable vendors that Kathy supplied us with! Going into my senior year of college about to graduate, I had no clue where to even start with the wedding planning process. Kathy at Dream Wedding Planners really was incredibly helpful. She helped find vendors and did my day-of coordination. I had no idea what I was doing and she really helped bring direction and focus. She worked within my budget and found wonderful, reasonably-priced vendors that I never would have found on my own. Dream wedding and Event Planners are a fantastic vendor. My daughters wedding was truly a fairy tale. From meeting Kathy and her pleasant personality and how she tuned into what my daughter was looking for for her special day. Kathy and her staff were outstanding the day of the wedding. Kathy provided her services to us on our wedding day and for a year and a half of planning beforehand. We interviewed quite a few wedding coordinators, but we knew she was "the one" within ten minutes of talking to her. Kathy is experienced, organized, connected with fantastic vendors and clearly loves what she does! She had a knack for making me feel as though I was her only client, as she was so attentive and available for little questions and larger problems.

Before I hired Kathy, I didn't know if even had enough time to get ready for the wedding on 3.3.2012. That was such a tight period from mid Jan 2012 to the wedding day. That was only 40 days to prepare. I didn't know anything about wedding planning. When we first met Kathy, after a few minutes of talking, 100% confidence came to me. Yes, Kathy brought back our confidence and passion. That’s why during the period we were planning, we trusted each other like a great partnership.

Hiring Kathy as my wedding planner was the best decision I could have made in planning my wedding. I knew once I got engaged that I would need help. I was in my 4th year of medical school and busy interviewing for residency. I watched many of friends struggle with planning their weddings and I knew I wanted to have a better experience. Kathy establishes a timeline for planning and makes sure things are getting done. I don't know what I would have done with out her.
I came to Kathy with a vision of what I wanted my wedding to be like and although she had never done a wedding like it, she was able to make my "Miami Beach Nightclub" wedding come true. She has amazing relationships with vendors and was able to connect me with the right people. She was also willing to listen to me and my husband when we had suggestions. I can't emphasize enough how helpful it is to have someone like Kathy when meeting with vendors. She knows the business and is able to get results much easier then you would be able to on your own. When I was frustrated with how my flowers were going, I called Kathy and she actually drove to Clarkston for one of my mock ups to make sure I was getting what I wanted. Also, when dealing with the venue she was able to get us everything we asked for and more. She always has your back and wants you to be happy. Kathy is a perfectionist and every detail will be accounted for.
I can't forget to mention how great Kathy was with my family. I have very intense and involved parents and I felt a wedding planner would be a good addition to mediate and take stress off my mom. I had watched countless friends struggle and fight with their parents during wedding planning and I did not want that to be me . Kathy made sure to include them but also help me and my husband when we felt backed into a corner. She was always my advocate while still keeping the peace. She had a great relationship with both my parents which made the whole process much easier.
I cannot emphasize enough how nice it is to show up to your wedding and have everything done for you. Every detail, every minute accounted for and all you have to do is show up. She worked extremely well with the staff and really help make us feel like VIPs at our reception. My husband and I had the perfect wedding! Kathy Byrum and her associates made everything perfect!! We had the wedding of our dreams at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit. It was not an easy venue, and we are unusual people, but Kathy made it all easy! We had a beautiful, fun, and completely awesome event! No matter what we asked for (models dressed as tables strolling hors d' oeuvres and desserts to guests, beer pairings with dinner, chandeliers hung in a warehouse-like setting with beautiful lighting all around, a lime green walkway, bouquets made from feathers and crystals, the red carpet with videographers and hosts at the front door...) Kathy was excited and accommodating! It was seriously the BEST experience ever. People are still talking about it!

Kathy Byrum is amazing, from day one she was hard at work finding me vendors, making fantastically detailed time lines (which, on the day of the wedding was crucial!!) and just being there for anything I needed. It was great to have someone to give me recommendations for things like calligraphy and limos, I wouldn't even have known where to start!
Initially I had reservations about getting a "day of" coordinator because I am a very organized (and a tad… controlling) person and I figured that I could just do it myself. Well I was wrong. There are so many details, so many facets of the wedding planning that you just cannot think or nor remember them on your own. I had multi-page lists of things I needed to do or needed to buy and on multiple occasions Kathy reminded me of things I hadn't even thought of!
I also learned that on the day of the wedding and the days leading up to the wedding it is almost impossible to do it all yourself. In our case there were a lot of last minute mini-catastrophes that we could never have handled alone (especially while having rehearsal dinners, picking up guests from out of town, etc). Kathy was amazing, she took care of EVERYTHING. She was in almost hourly contact with me in the days leading up to the wedding, something that I really appreciated. It was wonderful knowing that someone was in charge of the whole thing, someone who would be there and make sure your wedding was absolutely perfect even when you are running around like a madwoman. In our case we had a last minute problem with Metro Cars. The limo we had reserved MONTHS ago had broken down the day before the wedding. They offered us a huge party bus but that wasn't what we wanted (we only had 4 people!) so Kathy sprung into action and while I was showing my maid of honor around town she found us a new limo! The day before!!! If it hadn't been for her quick thinking and hard work we would have either been in the huge ugly party bus or walking!
On the day of the wedding Lynne and Renee were just fantastic. From making sure my ceremony was perfect to putting up all of my personal touches in the reception (and I had A LOT of personal items…photos, favors, table markers), they did an absolutely PERFECT job. I could not have done it without them. They listened to everything I said and did everything exactly how I wanted. And they did it all with a smile. These women made my wedding the absolute dream that it was. Thank you guys!
Dream Wedding and Event Planners was a great help to make my big day a stress-free success. Everything went smoothly and I didn’t even have to worry about the details and timing because I knew the coordinators had things coordinated precisely. I was busy with school and work during my wedding planning time and my mom was able to collaborate with the Dream Wedding staff to plan for everything to turn out just to my liking. Once I got to the wedding day and I had questions of how we were supposed to do certain things at the ceremony or reception, the wedding planners had the answers or would find them out promptly for me and my family and wedding party. Friends and family were amazed at how well everything went at our wedding. Dream Wedding and Event Planners was a great addition to our wedding day to make sure there was minimal extra stress during wedding planning, preparations, and execution.
I could not be more satisfied with our experience using Dream Wedding and Event Planners and our decision to hire Kathy and her amazing team. We knew the moment that we met Kathy that she was the coordinator for us! She was extremely organized, easy to talk to, and knew all of the right questions to ask. By the end of our first meeting, I felt like she knew the two of us and had our entire vision in her mind. We hired her on the spot and never regretted our decision once! Kathy was extremely flexible with this and not only did she make us feel like we were her only wedding, she was also incredible at responding back as quickly as possible. She is extremely organized and was on top of everything during the entire planning process. She has a full network of the most talented vendors in the area, and she recommended the most amazing and professional people for our wedding that she knew would be best for the two of us. And one of the things that we liked most was her constant effort to make sure that our wedding was everything that we wanted and that it incorporated both of our different styles. She truly went the extra mile to make sure we were completely satisfied with everything!
While Kathy was very helpful and informative in our selection of vendors, her true benefit came in the weeks leading up to the wedding. She made sure that all of our vendors had our schedule, knew where to go, and that all of the little details I didn’t even know about were accounted for. The entire week before the wedding, I found that I was surprisingly calm and relaxed because I knew we were in good hands. And as much as you try to avoid any problems on the day of the wedding, sometimes things happen that are beyond your control. Luckily, Kathy has an amazing emergency kit with everything that you can possibly think of, and she was able to save the day more than once. It is possible that there were many other things that went wrong that day, but if there were any issues, I was not aware of any of them because Kathy and her assistant handled everything. Also, because of her vast experience in this profession, she creates an extremely detailed schedule for everyone to follow. This not only made the day run seamlessly, but even allowed my parents to relax and have a fantastic time! It truly makes for a very fun, happy, and peaceful day when you don’t have to worry about anything. My husband and I could not have asked for a more beautiful wedding than the one that we had. It was unique and perfect for us, and was truly a fairy tale wedding! We still get compliments from all of our guests about how amazing the venue, food, service, DJ, and photography were! It really was one of the best days of my life, and was all made possible because of Kathy and her fantastic team at Dream Wedding and Event Planners. I would highly recommend them to everybody!
The best decision I made through this entire wedding process was hiring Kathy and her team to help coordinate my wedding. My wedding went perfectly and I couldn't have done it without them. They were always available to talk, they were thorough, efficient, and a lot of fun! If anything went wrong at my wedding, I still don't know about it. I am actually going to miss them now that everything is over! I will be recommending them to all of my friends and family in the future!
Thanks so much! We hired Kathy Byrum for her 90 Day Services where we used her services and expertise 90 days before the wedding day. The part that was most frustrating for us before hiring Kathy and her Team was dealing with all of the vendors long distance. Everyone wanted us to “drop by” or “come on in”, and that just wasn’t possible. Picking out vendors was difficult too. We had not even begun to think about day of coordination.
Kathy helped us with pretty much everything that we needed and had not even thought of. She reminded me about what I would need and streamlined communication and timing. Having someone advocate for us was incredibly stress relieving. To be able to enjoy our day without having to flip out about anything or having someone else run the show was priceless. Otherwise all the last minute problems would have really compromised the entire day. Everything was absolutely wonderful! If I were going to do it again, though, I’d hire Dream Wedding and Event Planners for full service from the beginning to the end.
I would like to thank the other Kathy who helped coordinate the day for us too. They made the entire day amazingly worth it. When we started planning the wedding, people kept asking us why we were getting a planner. After seeing them running around all weekend, everyone agreed that it was a fantastic idea. I was married on june 22 2013 and it was the most wonderful day i could dream of. i want to start out by saying Kathy Byrum did an amazing job as my wedding planner. She was very thoughtful and very considerate of my feelings every step of the way through the entire prosses. Everything was wonderful all of the people she referred me to. from the photographer and flowers to the cake and to the table and chair linens. Everyone i met was just great and really nice. The people she works with really turly cared about my wedding and the image i had in my head for my big day. They did a great job of bringing that to life! Having Kathy as my wedding planner made the months of planning way less stressful. i would definitely recommend any bride-too-be to call Kathy and have her be their wedding planner! 100%!!! the only thing that went wrong was the weather but hey, cant plan on that working out all the time! ;)

Fortunately, my husband and I arrived at about 2:30 on Sunday and took a quick trip up to the reception hall to catch a glimpse of the room perfect and undisturbed. What a pleasant surprise when we opened the door and saw everything I had imagined and hoped would look well, and there it was--so beautiful, original, dramatic and creative ... You and your staff did a top-notch job getting it all right. I loved the way you arranged the branches and votives on the head table, too. Just perfect!
I felt so alone before I found you. Once I felt like part of a team (where the other members were stronger players than me), I felt confident that we could pull off the wedding my daughter and I imagined. With your experience, expertise, advice and encouragement, I knew that together, we could handle it all. I was most stressed about the centerpieces, right up until Saturday, but the right person at a reputable aquarium store provided sound advice that proved reliable, because the casualties were minimal. The centerpieces were incredible conversation pieces among the guests.
Thank you also for your organizational skills and help coordinating and communicating with the vendors. Nothing slipped through the cracks.

Before my husband and I hired Kathy Byrum of Dream Wedding and Event Planners, we were a little overwhelmed because we're not from the Detroit area, and we were not familiar with the vendors. She came along and proved to be a valuable liaison between us and the various vendors. We hired her early, and that proved to be one of our best moves. When we decided to change the venue for the reception, she jumped right in and facilitated the change. I give Kathy credit for helping us avoid lots of sleepless nights. Kathy and her Team did everything to make the wedding weekend a memorable time for our families. One of the things we really appreciated was the fact that she met with us and helped us secure a sight for the rehearsal dinner. We wouldn't have known where to start without her, and the rehearsal dinner was a real hit with our guests. Three days before the wedding, we found out that our grandson's babysitter wasn't going to be able to babysit. This was a huge problem for us because she was supposed to watch him the night of the rehearsal dinner and after the wedding. My husband turned to Kathy, and in no time at all, she had a wonderful sitter lined up for us. "Putting out fires" is what a good wedding planner will do, and Kathy and her team were the best. Besides marrying my son, finding Kathy to help plan the wedding was the smartest thing Jennifer did! I would tell brides entertaining the idea of hiring Dream Wedding and Event Planners to not think twice about it. It will make the days leading up to the wedding so much easier, and they'll have such great memories from their big day. I can't say enough about Kathy and her team. They really care and will go the extra mile for you. What more could you ask for?
Kathy Byrum, of Dream Wedding Planners, was a dream, both in the planning stages of our wedding and on the "day of." She and her associates were on the job directing, handling and overseeing every aspect so that we could enjoy our day as much as our guests did. The day was magical and Kathy and her crew helped make it so!
The biggest argument in Anqunette's and my relationship has been the issue of utilizing a wedding planner! A couple of months after I proposed, Q mentioned to me that she really did not want to use a wedding planner, that we could do it on our own. Previously, we had met with a couple of wedding planners, who all seemed too casual, not very serious and lacking a solid vision... which probably caused Q to abandon the wedding planner idea. Although I believe in our good organizational skills, I was vehemently opposed to planning this "celebrity wedding" by ourselves, without any professional help. After we met with Kathy, we decided in the car on our way home that she presented herself as a professional wedding planner, who has experienced the good as well the bad, and who seemed to have a no nonsense approach to a detailed planning process (which by the way NEVER lacked the necessary humor to make things go smoothly).
Since both of us are not from this area, we depended heavily on Kathy's recommendations for all the vendors, suppliers and external support. At times I was embarrassed to constantly ask her for names and addresses, which she always promptly provided for us to investigate. She had a vision, accompanied us to some of our meetings with vendors and took it upon herself - with and without our request - to communicate complicated and/or uncomfortable issues to vendors that were less forthcoming or understanding. I am writing this because as the groom I felt that Kathy also had my interest in mind and not only the bride's (as it is in so many cases). She conducted herself in such a diplomatic and professional manner, that after every time when we listened to her opinion, we felt absolutely grateful and at ease. "Kathy is going to handle it" or "Let's see what Kathy thinks" were the reassuring phrases we said to each other, which helped us get through this wedding planning without having any fears or doubts. We valued her advice deeply and do not regret having done so.
Dream Wedding and Event Planners put together a spectacular wedding for us. Our international guests as well as domestic friends keep commenting to this day on how smooth, visually and culinary appealing, detail oriented and most importantly - fun - our wedding was. We are completely stunned, happy, satisfied and thankful for having had Kathy Byrum as our wedding planner.

Kathy and her Team did such an amazing job coordinating our wedding. Because of Kathy and Linda, we were all able to relax and just enjoy the day knowing that all of the details were being taken care of! My mom actually said that is the most fun that she has had in decades. :)
We hired Kathy pretty early in our planning process, but meeting with her allowed us to evaluate the full picture of all of the things that we would need and vendors that we would need to hire. She set my mind at ease, just knowing that there was always a seasoned professional to consult if needed. Every detail that I had put time and effort into before the big day was successful because Kathy made sure that it happened. All of my pomanders were set up, sand ceremony in place, menu cards on folded napkins, candles lit, table numbers how I wanted them, 5 bridesmaid dresses and one flower girl dress altered, fans and tissues in place, toasting flutes and cake server packed up.
When Kathy came into our Bridal Suite where the girls were getting ready to see how we were doing, I mentioned that we decided to change the Bridesmaid dresses. I didn't even ask her to take on this venture. She simply asked me what I wanted done to the dresses and got out her sewing kit. Before I knew it, all 5 of my bridesmaids had new gowns!
Kathy and her team were worth every penny and more!! She took on all of the stresses that my Mom or I would have had, and we were able to enjoy 100% of the big day. During my older sister's wedding, my Mom handled all of the tasks that Kathy did during my wedding. Every picture of my Mom on my sister's big day shows her completely tired, drained and extremely stressed (because she was!). After my wedding, my Mom said she couldn't remember the last time that she had that much fun. Everyone says that on your wedding day, something always goes wrong, but as hard as I try I can't find one thing that went wrong on my day. I would have to attribute this to Kathy and her team! The BEST thing that I did for my wedding was hiring Kathy.
Words cannot describe, nor gifts repay the amazing job Kathy did for our daughter Kate and her husband Sean! From start to finish, it's in the details and Kathy did not miss one... We feel truly blessed that Kate found Kathy, and not only are we proud to add Sean to our family, we feel Kathy is now a part of our family as well!!
