Durant in Danbury CT ruined my son's wedding.
They completely messed up the delivery of the tent for the wedding that took place on July 9th 2021. They delivered the tent on the day of the wedding in pouring rain, a full day late. The tent was supposed to protect the ground that the wedding was taking place on.
When i called to complain, the sales girl Shayna was extremely apologetic but then the "manager" named Barbara came on who was not just, unempathetic and unhelpful, but was down right rude. She blatantly lied and accused me of changing the order which forced them to change the delivery date. When i asked why i was not informed, she said, i should have known better.
She was uncooperative and refused to accept any responsibility. I have been ordering from Durant's for the last 10 years and they have been generally adequate. This was the last straw, never again. Beware.
Take a look at the pictures, you can clearly see the tables are outside the tent, because it was too wet. I spent a few thousand dollars and got a service that even a dog doesn't deserve.
I used Durants to rent 140 cross-back vineyard chairs. They were very easy to work with, the delivery went smoothly and the chairs looked great. Highly recommend!
I contacted Durants almost a year before our big backyard wedding to start getting quotes and set up our rental request. At first the service was really helpful, with our contact person sending inspiration ideas and being very communicative.
I was told during this time that the tent, tables and chairs would likely arrive on the Wednesday before my Saturday backyard wedding, so that's what I planned for. The week before the wedding I was informed via email that the set up would not happen until Friday, which threw off my whole schedule. I pushed for delivery on Wednesday, and our contact was able to change it to late on Wednesday, but she expected to be paid in full, over the phone, beforehand. This was very inconvenient at the time because it was too large a sum to withdraw at once without notifying my bank. I had asked months before how payment worked and she was very nonchalant about the whole thing.
ON MY WEDDING DAY, I was contacted via email to see if the rentals could be picked up the DAY after. This should have been organized far in advance.
When the rentals arrived they were not clean. When the tent was packed up and put away, the crew just cut up all the zip ties from the tent wall and left them in the grass.
Additionally, I had emailed about lighting early in the process to try to understand exactly how much lighting we needed. Upon set up, we had way too many lights-the extra spotlights were expensive and not used.
I have to say, they are cheaper than a lot of other companies, but I was ultimately disappointed.
It was really simple to work with Durants. After submitting a quote through their website, we received communication quickly and our point person responded to my many questions and emails promptly. They offer a military discount which made their rentals a great value and they work with our reception (The Thayer Hotel) venue frequently so arrangements were seamless! Our reception started in the morning and Durants was happy to have rentals delivered the day prior. My only source of disappointment was in the fact that the images of the colors offered in no way resembled what we got. The only option for yellow was "lemon", which was a rich, deep color on the website. That was the color I was hoping for but was prepared to receive something a bit brighter based on the name. However, the color of the napkins resembled more of a yellow highlighter. Definitely not the end of the world, but I'd recommend ordering a sample or napkin or something to see the color in person first!
So incredible! My husband took care of this piece of our wedding puzzle, and Durant’s took amazing care of him! After a little miscommunication (the website isn’t the easiest to operate) he was personally cared for in a relaxed and efficient manner. The rental items were amazing quality, delivery and pickup were a breeze and the prices were unbeatable (believe us, we tried!) all in all they deserve every bit of five stars and then some! They took worry out of the equation and delivered amazing products and services.
My venue allowed for us to set up the space from 9am-5pm the day before our wedding. Durants was due to drop off the rentals by 12pm this day which was stated in our invoice.
At 11am I contacted the dispatch team and was told the truck was about 10 miles from my location and should be there shortly. At approx 12:45pm I called again and was told the truck driver was unresponsive to their calls and they were unable to reach him. Dee, the women who was working with me was very calm, collected and very understanding of the predicament I was in; I had less than 4 hours to set up 15+ tables, 160 chairs and was paying people to set them up who were on the clock waiting for their delivery (starting at 10am).
About an hour later, Dee contacted me saying the driver was unaware of the drop off time on my invoice, and had picked up another rental and was in the process of dropping it off. I was told it would be somewhere between 2-3 hours until the driver will be at my venue.
After a 5+ hour late drop off, the rentals were FILTHY. Linens which were wrapped, had dirt and stains all over them. The chairs were in the worst conditions possible. I understand normal wear and tear, but there was mud, dirt, spilled food and drinks on the chairs. Each chair had to be wiped down by hand prior to us setting up the space.
Aside from Dee and the delivery drivers, every person I spoke with at Durants was rude, curt, and unprofessional. No lack of empathy for my situation or loss of time and money on this day to set up my wedding.
With the help of my Day of Coordinator, we were able to obtain a full refund for the linens (as it was too late for them to send replacements. I also didn't want to risk the time suck of waiting for "new" with the chance of them being dirty), and a partial refund on the chairs.
Overall, they did their best to make it right, and I did receive nearly 50% of my total bill. However, the amount of stress and frustration this caused me and my husband is enough to say I will never work with, rent from or recommend anyone use this company.
We rented extra high top tables for our cocktail hour and are so glad that we did! Durants had an amazing price, were easy to work with, and so behind the scenes on the day of (one less thing to worry about!)... Highly recommend them for your wedding day rental needs!
Durants was extremely helpful and easy to work with. Everything was delivered as promised and looked fantastic! One of the staff members even met with me early on a Sunday morning while they were closed because it was the only day I was in town.
Durant's was great to work with. We had a wonderful sales assistant and they delivered on time. The items we exactly what we chose and they even sent extras.

Durant's was easy to work with and on top of things - both things not to be undervalued given the craziness of planning. We ordered all sorts of things from them - tent, tables, chairs, farm tables, linens, etc. and everything was set up promptly and removed promptly. Had an issue with a generator that wasn't a big deal, but they were very accommodating and refunded the price.
Our caterers recommended Durants and helped us put together a plan for our wedding of all of the things we would need. While we did not work with the company directly, other than to make a deposit, they did seem very knowledgeable and had a great variety of things to choose from. Our caterer met us at the showrooms and together we picked out every little detail down to the coffee cups and silverware. They also allowed us to put a tent on hold in case we would need one due to rain, which we ended up not needing and we cancelled it 3 days before.
We used Durants for rentals not only for our venue but also for our rehersal dinner that was hosted at my parents house. The ladies in the office are wonderful with helping you determine what is needed and are extremely patient when you change your mind 10 times. Everything was there on time and exactly as promised.
I have no other point of comparison to Durants as they were the only vendor we dealt with (our caterer typically works with them and recommended them), but they were great to work with. The options were great and reasonably priced. We ended up spending more than we wanted to on rentals, but the quality of what we got was great and so in the end it was worth it. I would definitely recommend them.
Durants was excellent! In the weeks leading up to my wedding I changed my quote several times as numbers changed and/or my caterer needed other items and it couldnt have been easier. A simple email with what I wanted changed and they updated the quote within 24 hours! Stress free!
We ordered some items for our ceremony since it was taking place in a 130yr old Victorian theatre and we wanted to "set" the stage. We ordered 2 8ft and 2 7ft room dividers...when they were delivered to the theatre I noticed that they had delivered 3 7ft and only 1 8ft room dividers...one of the 7ft ones was broken too nonetheless. After talking to them on the phone I was told that they could not be back that day to correct the problem seeing as the one divider I needed was in their Danbury store...so after a short melt down we decided that we didn't need the 2nd 8ft divider...when we called back we told them not to bother and to credit us the difference and to also make sure they did a little something extra for us since it was their error which they did. So overall everything was fine...they just need to learn to read the rental order a little better.
They had a really great selection of items and products in their store. They did deliver all the items I used (linens, plates, etc.) on time and in full order.
However, when it comes to getting a bill at the end of the night as promised, dont expect it.
Also they will not explain fees or remind you of the tax and the final bill was higher than my quote. Also when you try and get someone on the phone to talk about things, it is chaos and no one knows which end is up. They are however very pleasant on the phone and in person to work with.
We rented a sound system for our wedding, and Durant's was great. The price was fair, and pick-up and drop-off were super easy.
tons of options, fell in love the first time i was there.. when i went to pick up my centerpieces however, they were still in theri connecticut location. i opted out of their $40 delivery option because the venue was just down the road, so we borrowed a friend's truck, drove an hour, only to find they had to deliver most of the missing centerpieces anyway, at their expense since they were not ready for my pickup.
I used Durants to rent tables and linens, etc for my wedding. We also rented a photobooth and were told that there was a way to keep all of the photos form the photobooth on a drive in the booth. The Durants people delivered the photobooth and didn't know how to set it up so the DJ had to help them set it up. After the wedding was over, we went back to Durants to get the photos on a flashdrive and the saleswoman told us it wasn't set up correctly to do that which wasn't OUR fault. She had sold the photobooth to us with the idea that we would have copies of all of the photos. That was its selling point to us. I called afterward and asked her if we could get some money back on the photobooth rental since it didn't work how we thought it was going to work. I asked if we could have maybe $50 back from the $850 it cost to rent it and she refused. I think that it so lame and incredibly bad customer service. Don't use Durants if you can find another place to rent from in Poughkeepsie or surrounding area. Across the bridge, rental places are cheaper and better!
