I’ve held several events at this venue, and it has never failed me. The acoustics are amazing, and musicians playing on the stage rave about the sound. The neutral interior decor makes it very easy to decorate for each different event.
The capacity is 200 people, and the industrial catering kitchen is very easy to use. I’ll keep coming back.
If you are planning on having a large wedding of over 100 people think again... The space is old and tired with only one maintenance person on staff. They have no Ice machine so you will have to provide every detail of wedding on your own for large price of 3,000 without receiving anything back in return. Not to mention if you don't have every item out of building by midnight and if dance floor is sticky from people dropping a glass.. which happens once or twice at every wedding.. you will not receive you 500$ deposit back. What happens is all the board members that live in Million dollar mansions that had nothing to do with actual event get so upset that the floor was sticky that they tell party planner to hold your 500$ deposit and not return it. Its probably a great spot to have a bridge club lunch in.. but they can't handle large parties apparently. If you want to deal with headache of planning every detail of your wedding and not get deposit back.. This place is for you!
We had our wedding reception at EGWC and we could not have picked a better venue. It is located in a beautiful neighborhood and is close to a lot of things in Brookfield (particularly close to a variety of hotels for guests to stay at.) The minute we stepped in the room, we knew we had to have it. The room was big enough to host our 155 guests but not too big where our guests were scattered all over the place. There is a spectacular chandelier that is the highlight of the room and really made the room look beautiful. It also photographs very well! We loved the fact that the venue had so much simple charm to it which means the only decorating we had to do was add centerpieces to the tables and that’s it! You can tell they work hard at keeping everything clean and well kept. We dealt the most with Sue but also worked a little with Teena towards the end and they both were absolutely fantastic. Sue was very responsive to all my calls and emails and was able to answer any questions I had. We met with her several times to see the room and ask questions and it was always easy to set up times to do that. Another thing we really liked about EGWC was the fact that there was an abundance of parking for all of our guests.
The fee was very reasonable and we were able to pick our own caterers (we used Silver Spur BBQ in Elm Grove and would also highly recommend them too!) The rental fee included so much like the dishes, microphone, square centerpiece mirrors, tables, chairs, etc. The only thing we had to do was get linens which wasn’t a big deal because our caterer did that for us. All furniture in the room was able to be removed from the main room or re-arranged to how we wanted it. We were able to split our 12 hours of rental time between set up and the actual wedding reception and it was the perfect amount of time. We set up the day before which took a lot off of our mind for the wedding day. Tom was there the whole night and was very helpful. We had endless compliments of our wedding and everyone loved the venue. If we had to plan our wedding all over again, we would 100% choose the Elm Grove Woman’s Club in a heartbeat, without any hesitation. It was the perfect location for us and would highly recommend it to anyone!
Our wedding at Elm Grove Woman's Club was absolutely beautiful. I barely had to do decorations because the space is so lovely, especially for a vintage romantic wedding. We had our ceremony on the lawn outside and then moved into the club for the reception. Since there isn't a coordinator for events, expect to do a more work yourself coordinating different vendors and linens and such, but we thought it was definitely worth the extra work to have such a customized wedding at a reasonable price. Our guests had a fabulous time at our wedding and so did we!
This ceremony location was stunning, it blew our guests away. The room is so gorgeous on its own, we needed only small, personal touches, which brought out the natural character of the location. From the start, Sue Falchi and Tom were available by phone any time I needed to reach them with questions or concerns. The room was affordable and the service from the caretakers was unbeatable. The Woman’s Club was a dream come true for my husband and I!
the EGWC is on a 25 mile an hour street in a lovely quiet village. The staff goes above and beyond to enhance your experience. The grounds are well kept and the building itself a lovely older Cape Cod style clubhouse.Elm Grove is 20 minutes from downtown Milwaukee, under 2 hours to downtown Chicago. My daughter's wedding and reception was so personal and private with about 120 guests. Both of my daughter's had beautiful weddings and receptions here. One was a snowy night in January, one an end of summer this past September .I would highly Elm Grove Women's Club, elegant and open for your personal touches. It was absolutely the perfect place!!!!!
I cannot say enough positive things about my experience working with the Elm Grove Woman's Club. I am amazed that they are not busy with weddings every weekend day of the year. The venue is beautiful. Classic and elegant, simple and refined. They were a delight to work with. Very communicative and accommodating. Our guests were incredibly charmed by our venue. The building is so well preserved and lovingly cared for. It sits in a beautiful, lush setting on a quiet corner in the quaint village of Elm Grove. It's right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. I am so happy we chose to host our wedding at the Elm Grove Woman's Club. It will always be an incredibly special place for my husband and I. Our wedding was better than we dreamed it would be. We were married at the EGWC on September 20th and hosted the ceremony on the lawn. It was perfect! Our reception was indoors and everything flowed so nicely. We worked with Chef Jack Catering out of Waukesha. They were wonderful and the food was amazing. We received countless compliments about the food. The EGWC is an excellent value and I loved that we were able to choose all of our favorite vendors instead of working through a traditional venue such as a hotel. It made for a much more personal experience for my husband and I and also for our guests. Every detail of the wedding was very "us". If I had to plan my wedding all over again, I wouldn't change a thing!
We used the Elm Grove Women's Club for a fundraising event for a non profit organization. We had a silent auction and dessert served along with a guest speaker. Sue Falci was wonderfully accomodating to all our needs, and the staff on hand at the location was very attentive. All of our guests were impressed with how beautiful and intimate of a setting the Elm Grove Women's Club was. Just delightful!
My Husband and I, had a vintage style wedding, and wanted something very old looking. We found this place and, thought it was too good to be true. It fit the amount of guests we were having, they offered all the following; Chairs and covers, tables and linens, mirrors to lay on the tables (if we wanted to use them) an in-house kitchen, a seperate room for getting ready, plenty of parking, multiple bathrooms, surround sound, a piano for use, coat check, etc. Picture perfect. But, as time went on, the ladies we were working with at the venue, began to be very picky, We ended up using nothing but the table and chairs that they provided, and did everything else ourselves. We felt they had broken our contract in so many ways, but it was all so close to the date we couldn't back out of it at the time. I wish we would have enjoyed it more and got a little more out of the place..especially, because of the cost/budget we had..In the end though, it did not matter, because everything turned out to be wonderful!!!
The EGWC was a great place for our wedding ceremony and reception. Elegant, not overdone, great staff, and SO much included with the rental fee (tables, chairs, chair covers, square mirrors for the table centerpieces, all dishes/glasses/flatware, some neautral silk floral arragemetnts, and there is beautiful furniture you can use as well). Perfect size for our celebration of about 110 - room for dining tables, dance floor, and bar area with no rearranging. We did not have a large budget for our wedding and Ginger helped identify pre-approved caterers that would work for us (and we picked one of them, too). We were able to split our 12 hours of rental time between the setup and rehersal on Friday and the actual event on Saturday. And we were able to meet with Ginger at the club several times before the wedding to double check how we wanted things set up. They really made things easy for us!
Oh my, where to begin! My experience with EGWC was the absolute WORST. Here’s the short and sweet version of my awful story:
My experience began with Ginger, their idea of a rental coordinator. I explained to her that I was on a budget, and that I wanted a rental for 5 hours. She proceeded to tell me they could give me the Club for 5 hours at $100 an hour. This was in late October 2010. As the days and weeks progressed, problems began to develop. All the women at the club must have started discussing, because Ginger repeatedly told me that I should take my business elsewhere because they didn't think 5 hours was "enough time.” I repeatedly assured them that it was, and that I only wanted a cake and punch reception anyway. I began to get the idea (due to strongly worded emails and terse phone conversations) that my reception was too low budget for them. I wasn't going to let a bunch of uppity women tell me 5 hours was too short, so I persisted, and we eventually got to the point we signed the contract and were ready to begin payments. Shortly after signing the contract in December, I was told that I was to meet with another coordinator to put down my deposit. Unbeknownst to me, they were planning to tell me (at the meeting) to take a hike. Sure enough, I get to the meeting and the woman tells me they no longer rent on that date, and that Ginger made a mistake in October when telling me my date was available. I was absolutely flabbergasted when she told me I would have to disregard the contract and take my reception elsewhere. I asked her why I was being forced to suffer for Ginger's mistake, and all she could tell me was "I didn't make the mistake, so it’s not my problem. " It gets better, however, because the last thing she told me (before I left in tears) was, “If you are still interested in holding your event at the Club, you may rent for 12 hours, @ $1600.00. That is the only way you can still proceed with the rental.” Yep, that’s right, they just wanted more money. Money which I didn’t have, and didn’t want to give them even if I did. I was absolutely stunned and speechless. On top of it all, they had me trapped legally as well. The contract states that it is only binding once money has been put down, a signature does not complete the contract. Hmmm…..now I understand why they wouldn’t let me make a deposit back in November.
Long story short, if you are a bride on a budget, and are looking to save money by renting the EGWC for your reception, BEWARE. These women don't want to deal with low budget affairs, for fear it will ruin their hoity-toity reputation. If you want to risk renting with them, just know that they may, without warning, revoke your contract and there is nothing you can do about it. They will also demean you and make you feel like trash, which is NOT how you want to feel when planning your wedding!
