My daughter and her husband hired Em on the recommendation of a friend who had Em for her wedding. Hiring Em was the best thing we could have done! My daughter lives in NYC, I am in MA, and the wedding was in Newport, RI, so Em was the glue that kept everything all together via conference calls, Zoom meetings and in person meetings. Em kept us on budget, on schedule and calm. She was wonderful at communication, answering questions and following up on everything we asked of her!
We had a two - event wedding weekend, with a sangeet reception on Friday night (a full on reception of it's own) and a traditional wedding the following day. Em navigated us through every aspect of both events and her knowledge of Newport was so helpful, wedding related or not! She made choosing each and every vendor seamless. It was as if she recognized personalities between client and vendor and guided us to people that we just loved working with! Em's professionalism, energy and sense of calm made the whole experience an absolute pleasure and the wedding was a dream come true! We feel so fortunate to have had Em and we will be forever grateful to her!

My wife and I were flown in from Denton, TX to do our second wedding at Rosecliff Mansion up in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island. This was our first time working with Em and what pleasure it was...Em possesses that amazing hybrid of being angelic to her core but also has a presence that is able to command a room. Just think about that for a second, a super rare, but extraordinary combination of layers that makes the perfect recipe for a great wedding planner.
We worked our best and favorite wedding weekend we’ve ever been apart of this last fall and from every angle you can look at it…the beauty, the people and their family and friends, the other vendors, the heartstrings pulled, career defining moments witnessed, etc…Em was a singular huge part of why that is. She is the best wedding planner we have ever worked with. Just read our bride Bri's review below.
My wife and I cannot properly articulate how invaluable Em is as a wedding planner. We got married in Bora Bora and knew we needed a wedding planner since getting friends and family half way around the world while setting everything up properly can be a logistical nightmare. Em made this entire experience an absolute dream. Everything was planned more than a year out and during COVID restrictions. Em took the lead on communicating with the venue, all the local vendors, wedding website, you name it. There are so many meticulous little details we never even thought of in the planning phase that Em made us aware of and proceeded to ease any worries or cares.
For over a year Em met with us virtually (we started planning in the US and then moved abroad) and seemed more like a best friend than a wedding planner. When it came time for the wedding Em flew in before us to get everything prepared to our specifications, took care of transportation for us and all our guests, and kept everything on the rails for the next few days that everyone was on the island. Our guests loved her as much as we did and Em was very responsive when communicating with everyone as they moved around since not everyone was staying at the same resort. Guests had to take boat and land taxis but Em wanted to shield us from the logistics of it and let us enjoy the stay. Everyone was always where they needed to be and when they needed to be there. When Em flew in she had to lug all of those small venue items (like flowers or centerpieces) with her. Em hired a most helpful employee to assist with this and to help her at the venue and it was no problem at all for Em to make this accommodation. Em is extremely attentive, knowledgeable, and absolutely relentless when it comes to getting something done that needs to be done. It does not matter where your wedding is, if you want a phenomenal planner who is also an absolutely gracious human being, contact Em. You will not regret it.
When her website says “hired best friend” she means it. I could go on and on about how incredible, brilliant, kind, and amazing Em is. I was looking for a full service wedding planner and after doing all my research I narrowed it down to contacting 5 planners. I told myself I would do a phone meeting with each one and then make my decision. I hired Em approximately minutes after we hung up. She was the first and ONLY person I had a meeting with because after our very first conversation I knew she was the one! Working with Em was an absolute DREAM and after every meeting we ever had my fiancé and I would gush about how amazing she was. Planning a wedding out of state can be extremely overwhelming but Em made this entire journey perfect. I’ve always been told wedding planning was extremely stressful and anxiety enducing but when people said that to me all I could reply was “you didn’t have Em as a planner!” She makes sure every detail for the big day is ready and perfect and is always there day or night for communication. Honestly if you are searching for your wedding planner stop now and just hire her you WILL NOT regret it. Thank you Em Devaud for making our day the absolute best and easiest day of our lives. We are going to miss you SO MUCH but we know we have a life long friend in you.
If you're looking to hire a wedding planner, look no further. Em is your person!!! I cannot say enough amazing things about her. She is kind, organized, diligent, understanding, caring, SUCH a hard worker and overall a radiant person who brings a breath of fresh air and positivity to planning a wedding. Em and I originally met at my sisters wedding 5+ years ago and once my venue/date was set, she was my first call. The value of her services are unmatched - I truly do not know what we would have done without her. If you're getting married in the Newport/Boston area (especially Rosecliff Mansion), Em knows EVERYONE which is incredibly valuable - this is something I didn't think about until we were deep in the planning process but was invaluable and helped take so much off our plate. I cannot list the number of times we mentioned a vendor we were exploring or that I was thinking of reaching out to, only to realize Em already had a personal relationship with them, could make a direct intro, and get us a quick response on their availability. A few specific examples that may be helpful of where Em really stepped up for us: monthly check in calls/google docs with organized to do lists for you, direct vendor intros, any and all coordination with vendors, creating bus schedules and routes, hopping on vendor calls the weeks and months leading up to the wedding for additional guidance, she took photos of our wedding tasting so we could reflect on what food we loved the most, creating/editing/tweaking our wedding day timeline countless times, working to perfect the hair and makeup schedule, helping us negate a emergency situation when our welcome drink location closed due to inclement weather the day of the rehearsal dinner (as the bride I actually had no idea this happened until the problem was already resolved), organizing and dropping off welcome bags, coordinating guest lists directly with hotels that don't allow room blocks, printing menus last minute for the reception, helping our officiant find a misplaced tux two hours before the ceremony, handing out tips to all vendors so we could just enjoy the night, sewing a wedding guests dress when the strap broke...I could go on and on. Lastly and most importantly, Em is a wonderful person inside and out. Hiring Em will be the best decision you ever make for you wedding!
I originally met Em at one of my best friends wedding right after we got engaged. I knew I liked her based on how organized she was throughout the weekend and how good she was at wrangling people. We originally hired Em for our August 2020 wedding which we had to postpone in May of 2020 due to COVID. If it wasn't for Em, our wedding wouldn't have been rescheduled so flawlessly for August 2021. Em handled contact with every vendor to get all new contracts, ensure everyone was available on the same date, and did it all with grace during a very uncertain time. This in itself was worth every dollar! When wedding weekend finally arrived, Em showed the same level of service and expertise I had seen 2 years back at my friends wedding. She made us feel so comfortable all weekend, was there every time I turned around seeing if I needed anything to drink or eat, or even just a minute to breathe. She made me feel so comfortable and I didn't have to worry about a thing. We had people dropping out the week/day of due to COVID and she supported me through last minute seating changes etc. If you are getting married in Newport, Em has such great vendor relationships and really knows the venues inside and out. This made planning a breeze and I didn't have to spend as much time looking into vendors because I knew to trust Em. Overall Em made our wedding weekend a huge success!
Em is honestly the best decision we made for our wedding; she was a fantastic partner, had everything 1000000% under control and properly listened and partnered with me. I had a hard time making decisions and she was the best sounding board, able to deal with some of the family politics that always exist and honestly just making the whole day a joy. I am SO happy that we decided to work with her and if anything, if I had to redo it, I would have given her more control over the whole event (we did day of). Do not hesitate to book her, she is fantastic and literally is a shining spot in the day, really enabling you to enjoy it. I had some family members who were VERY skeptical about the need in general for a planner, and literally every single one of them has come away from the event raving that Em is "worth her weight in gold." Don't read any more reviews, just hire her-- it will be the best decision you make for the day!
Em is an amazing wedding planner and just a wonderful human being. We were so lucky to work with her for our July 2021 (originally October 2020) wedding after connecting with her through mutual friends, and can’t say enough good things about our experience!
Em went above and beyond many times to help us find vendors, make sure we had all the little things ready (she printed our welcome bag itineraries and signature drink cards!), and keep things running smoothly. It would take me many paragraphs to share all of the little things she did in the 2 years we were working with her, and all that she and her team did on our wedding weekend, to ensure we and our guests had a wonderful event (making sure all our rehearsal dinner flowers were reset beautifully for brunch, find a new rehearsal spot last minute when our other spot was suddenly used to film a movie, etc.!). Our family and wedding parties loved working with her, as did all our guests, and she and her team really made our wedding weekend a success. She brings a wonderful positive energy in the face of what can be an overwhelming planning process, especially with COVID thrown into the mix.
Em is a gem and great at what she does - work with her if you can!
My husband and I (and our parents), are so thankful we chose to work with Em. We began working with her on our Belle Mer wedding in late 2019, and her knowledge of the Newport area, relationships in the wedding industry, and expertise in terms of all things wedding etiquette were truly invaluable. She immediately helped us lock in the right vendors, hotel blocks, church, rehearsal dinner and farewell brunch locations, and so much more - all without us having to make several trips to Newport. In 2020, as the idea of postponing our wedding became more and more real, Em was a guiding light of hope and positivity. We cautiously and optimistically continued to plan, but once we made the decision to postpone, she immediately reached out to every one of our vendors for their availability so that we could identify the best date to switch to. She made a disappointing process painless, and we didn't have to change a single vendor or venue. Em was always so transparent and kept us up-to-date on the mandate and guidance changes in Rhode Island so we knew exactly what to expect on our day. As we got closer to our wedding weekend, Em was on top of every last detail and ensured we finished everything when it need to be finished. I knew I never needed to worry about forgetting something. After a year and a half of planning came the wedding, and oh my gosh I was blown away. I didn't know I'd be able to relax and enjoy our weekend as much as I did, and I owe it all to Em. She had a to-the-minute timeline for the whole weekend, she was a resource for not only me and my husband, but our parents and entire wedding party, and she was on top of literally everything - from helping with my bustle, to being ready to fix my hair after our VERY windy pictures, to sewing a groomsman's pants after they split when he was having himself a good time on the dance floor - if you needed it, I swear she already knew. We will never be able to thank her enough for planning and coordinating a weekend that surpassed our wildest expectations.
Hiring Em was the BEST decision we could have ever made for our wedding!! She worked so hard the past year and a half and this past weekend an absolute dream. I always felt so well taken care of during the planning process, with her guiding the way. During the actual wedding weekend, both of our families felt so well taken care of, and it really allowed everyone to be in the present and enjoy themselves, and we really appreciated that!!
Everyone I've talked to said they had such an amazing time, and that was largely due to Em making sure everything behind the scenes was running smoothly!! It was 95 degrees on our wedding day, and Em and her staff were so professional and helpful, even though I'm sure they were all dying from the heat.
She was always being calm, tackled any problems that came our way, put band aids on my blisters during the reception, and so much more. We couldn't imagine getting through this weekend without her, and we're going to miss working with her so much!!
Em came highly recommended from a coworker and it was hands down the best decision we made. We used her for the month of the wedding package but she went above and beyond with answering our questions and making great recommendations. Em was extremely professional, fun and a joy to have on our special day. Our vendors are still raving about how organized and amazing she was. Honestly...BEST. DECISION. EVER. Em Devaud was such a breathe of fresh air and made our wedding seamless and the BEST DAY EVER!! Her warmth, positively, and genuine love for her work shine through to anyone that meets her!! She can handle ANYTHING! She is detail-oriented, results-driven, and is able to so everything with such ease and grace. She was the ultimate "secret weapon" of wedding success. From giving tips on the invitations, decor, managing family, friends, flow, to any curve-balls! Em helped us plan a beautiful vineyard rehearsal dinner, full wedding day, and even our wedding brunch the next day. We woke up to all of our gifts, cards, decorations, gowns, and flowers neatly delivered to the suite the night of the wedding. On the wedding day she was BEYOND attentive and kept everyone relaxed and to the timeline. We HIGHLY recommend booking Em if you want to actually be a guest at your own Wedding Day and take time to enjoy every minute. She makes everyone feel important and has an executive level of urgency of getting things done. Total dream to work with her!!! We felt very fortunate she was available and for the amazing day we will never forget!!
Em was recommended to us by several friends who had worked with her and it was possibly the greatest gift they could have given us! In addition to being organized, detail-oriented, punctual, friendly, and fun in the months leading up to our wedding, Em was just incredible during our wedding weekend. She handled every detail of our rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and reception, and post-wedding brunch - with just one assistant - and a constant smile on her face. She was also incredibly attentive to us, while at the same time taking care of our bridal party and family members. I'm honestly not sure how she got it all done, but our weekend was perfect. I can't recommend her highly enough.
Apart from choosing the right partner to marry, hiring Em as our wedding planner was the best decision I could have made. When we first spoke on the phone, Em said the her goal is to make her clients feel like they’re planning their wedding with a best friend, rather than someone you’ve hired - and that’s exactly how it felt. She was so much fun to work with, was extremely patient with my endless emails, and had the ability to talk me off the ledge when I was stressed. I genuinely don't know how we would have gotten through this process without Em's help. We will always remember Em fondly as a part of one of the most special days of our lives. I cannot recommend Em and her team highly enough!
Em was one of the best investments we made for our wedding. She is fantastic at what she does and a gem of a person to boot. We hired her as our day-of decorator/coordinator and she really went above and beyond. The way she took the aesthetic vision I articulated to her and brought it to life well exceeded my expectations. It was clear from our first interaction that Em cares about her couples and truly loves what she does. I can hardly say enough to convey how highly we would recommend Em to any couple looking for extra support with their special day.
We just got married two weeks ago in Newport, RI and we are still over the moon with how everything went. None of this would have been possible without Em. We had been working with her for nearly a year before the wedding and throughout the whole process, her answer to everything was yes and she was happy to do anything and more that we ever asked of. We can’t begin to put into words how awesome an experience we had working with Em! My daughter and I first met her a year before her wedding and immediately felt right at home. Her warmth and smile are infectious and she never makes you feel that anything is too difficult or too much for her to take on. My daughters wedding weekend was everything we ever dreamed of and more and we owe a lot of it to Em! She was there for us every step of the way and during the wedding weekend she allowed us to be a guest at our own party! She had everything under control and anticipated our every need and then some. On the day of the wedding she had three people with us all day and then Em was there bright and early the next morning with her big smile to help coordinate the brunch. We wholeheartedly recommend her and suggest that anyone planning a wedding in Newport or anywhere close hire her immediately. It will be the best decision relating to the wedding you make!
Em Devaud is one in a million!! She is the definition of perfection when it comes to anything and everything related to your wedding planning experience. Em and her assistants were extremely reliable and communicative leading up to our big day, making her the ideal fit for us. We barely had to lift a finger as she anticipated our needs before we thought of them ourselves, making our lives so stress free. We literally did not have to worry AT ALL because she had so much enthusiasm and confidence the entire time. Not only is Em fun and hilarious, she is a truly amazing person and we cannot thank her enough!
Em Devaud... HOW does one even put the words to the name. She is exquisite. She is professional. She is admired and liked by everyone and above all, she knows how to throw a party and have FUN doing it. I was married in October and me being the control freak that I am only wanted someone to help me with the execution of the day. Em was with me every.step.of.the.way. leading up to the big day - countless calls going over the timeline, little details, everything you can think of, Em was in the loop on and offered incomparable guidance on. Day-of, I knew I was incredible hands. I didn't have to lift a finger - the wedding day was PERFECT. Not one thing I would have changed and a huge huge part of it was because of Em and her incredible team. I came home to bridesmaids bouquets in vases, my dress hung up, all my gifts neatly together - I mean, come on. Is there anything this woman can't do? She is one in a million and I highly advise you hire her if you want your day to be perfect as well.
I cannot say enough amazing things about Em. Em was recommended to me by a friend, and we hired her for our wedding at Castle Hill. I can honestly and truthfully say we could NOT have gotten through our wedding without her - and our wedding would not have gone as smoothly without her. From the very beginning of the process Em was beyond helpful, listening to me and my moms requests or thoughts, attending vendor meetings, and helping guide us throughout the entire planning process. She consistently checked in with us to make sure we were on track and see if she could assist us in any way. The month and week leading up to the wedding, she made herself available to step in and help, and ensured every last detail of our weekend was organized, on time, and perfect. To this day my whole family jokes that if anything went wrong the day of our wedding, we still wouldn't know even months later, because Em took care of it with ease! Em's warm personality made her a joy to work with, and I look forward to continuing my friendship with her for years to come. I now tell every bride I talk to that they need to reach out to Em, she will make your dream wedding come true, and you will have so much fun working with her!
The best decision we made the entire wedding planning process was hiring Em! We used Em for planning for day of, and she worked with us starting a month out. From the very beginning she was so pleasant to work with, organized, enthusiastic and offered GREAT advice I wasn't getting from my venue. The day of Em and her team were amazing! With the bridal party and the groomsmen all day keeping us on schedule and helping with the million little requests and emergency needs that came up! I can't say enough good things about Em, without her I wouldn't have been able to enjoy my own wedding!

Em is bright and cheery and always enthusiastic which is exactly what is needed during wedding planning. She is also very professional with years of experience to lean on. She has a graceful way of handling every situation and bump in the road. Her enjoyment and passion for her work is apparent right from the first meeting. She listened intently and her face lit up with contagious excitement as we told her how we envisioned our day.
Em was close to 9 months pregnant for our wedding (she was completely transparent about this from the start) so she assigned a team of helpers just in case. She still went above and beyond, doing everything personally herself. She had been with me since early morning the day of our wedding, so she must have been just as tired as I was, but she had a huge smile on her face at the end of the night as she was packing up every single Christmas ornament for us. I wont ever forget feeling so grateful in that moment for all her dedication and support and energy.
For those on the fence about hiring a wedding planner, you are not only hiring a professional organizer and coordinator but a reliable go-to person for the little tasks and details. You are hiring a problem solver who is devoted to fixing any issues that arise (much like an insurance investment). You are hiring someone so that you and your close friends and family may fully enjoy the day too!
We booked Em when we realized we would absolutely need someone to help on the day-of to execute and help with the logistics. From the moment we booked, Em was enthusiastic and immediately had great ideas to add to our vision. She touched base with us regularly to keep us on task and to see if she could help at all. She was a true professional at the rehearsal and made sure we all knew exactly how things would go. On the day-of Em and her team made sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes and kept me and the wedding party calm. I could go on and on about all the wonderful things Em and her team did to help us! I would absolutely recommend Em for any and all coordinating. She made sure my wedding was exactly what I had envisioned and it would not have been the same without her.
Em Devaud and her staff made our wedding day absolutely perfect! My husband and I were looking for guidance on how to plan a small scale, laid back and quirky wedding that reflected our personalities. Em entertained our ideas with great enthusiasm and helped us create a wedding that went above and beyond what we were hoping for! She made us feel no less important than her clients who have much larger and more lavish events. Em helped us navigate many tricky circumstances including an unexpected change in date and venue (that were picked before she was hired) as well as awkward family circumstances with great kindness and impeccable attention to detail. Our wedding happened to fall on an extremely hot day and Em and her staff made sure we were comfortable, hydrated and cool. There was not a thing we could have wished, hoped or wanted for that Em and her team did not already have ready to go. She was able to read our personalities and our vision and recommend other vendors that were incredibly professional and easy to work with. Em and the other wedding professionals we selected from her recommendations matched us so well, they felt more like old friends than vendors. Our wedding day was stress free, beautiful and everything we could have hoped for and more. We highly recommended Em Devaud Events and appreciate everything she has done for us!
We got married at Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, RI on May 24th. We also did lots of events that weekend - sail boat cruises, trolley tours, a big welcome dinner, etc. Everyone was from out of town and 50% coming from outside the U.S. Suffice it to say there were a lot of moving parts and it was complicated!
Em was always upbeat -- even when my mom and I were stressed/cranky. She was very organized and spent many hours on the phone with us going through all the details, and additionally came along on vendor visits when we were in town (which she definitely didn't need to do). When the weekend arrived Em really went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly (and it did). We went home to change after the wedding and she even drove my husband and I to the after party! She brought back all the favors that we wouldn't have thought of, and just generally really was a comforting presence. I would absolutely recommend her.
