This is for the events/catering side of this hotel! This is a joint review from Ben and Sonia, written by Sonia! We wanted to do a destination Indian wedding, and chose Portland, Oregon. We worked very closely with Olivia and Anny (and their teams), who are just the loveliest, friendliest, most personable people you'll meet. There is a sense of genuineness about them instantly- they're both basically unicorns. They were both super professional, and they were excellent to work with for my complex Indian wedding! We had a few snags along the way, Olivia and Anny dealt with it like total champs! And we always laughed a lot in our conversations! To maintain that balance of uber-professionalism and that human connection is super hard (and we interviewed a LOT of people/vendors)- and we definitely found it with them. We had trepidation about having our very detailed, multi-day, cultural event there initially, but Olivia and Anny pulled through (with many many many many phone calls and emails of both sides outlining expectations and realities) with FLYING colors. Our events were so amazing- the food turned out fantastic (after feedback was given on how we wanted it), and it did not seem like "hotel food'- which is definitely a category! Our guests LOVED it all, and honestly, Ben and I were not an easy team to please :) So that's saying a lot that they knocked it out of the park! :) The venue was gorgeous, and the location was prime. Everyone who came had a wonderful time, and we couldn't have been more happy with Olivia, Anny, their teams and overall this particular hotel! Definitely recommend for an event! Olivia Olson, you are a goddess! I cannot say enough great things about the service we received at the hotel. Olivia was prompt with her email responses and always happy to accommodate our needs. The day of the reception was full of special surprises for both my wife and I, and our families. Olivia was onsite to facilitate the event, and she is super knowledgeable about all the vendors in the metro area. Just a rock star. The space itself is incredible. We rented the Queen Marie ballroom and it suited our needs perfectly. We hosted a cocktail hour in the anteroom before dinner, then the buffet was set up there after all the guests were seated. The mezzanine provided a great quiet space for conversation during dancing (and an awesome place from which to toss bouquets and garters). Portland Prime had live music downstairs for anyone who wanted to party all night. Old Town was a block away for people who wanted to hit the town. Voodoo Donuts was across the street for anyone who wanted to get sick. The ballroom itself was gorgeous and the mood changes dramatically as the sun goes down. Honeymoon suite was a perfect place to retire for the night. We had a gas fireplace and a bottle of champagne. I will leave the rest to your imagination, but it was an amazing setting for the end of the evening. Seriously, worth every penny. Olivia, you rock!

From the first time my husband and I walked into the hotel looking for wedding venues, we both fell in love with it immediately! There was no question this would be where we would get married. Embassy Suites Portland - Downtown Olivia Olson Catering Manager was amazing to work with, and made the entire year of planning feel easy. We had around a 117 guests, and we had several of them come up to us expressing that this was hands down the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. We stayed both Friday and Saturday night, and I have never had such a wonderful experience at any hotel. The entire staff was extremely friendly, and made ever effort to make sure everything was perfect! Our wedding was only one week ago, but my husband and I have already decided we will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary weekend at the Embassy Suites Portland

We are overall satisfied with our experience the Emabassy Suites for our wedding reception. The ballroom was beautiful and all the guests loved it too. The only thing that was a little frustrating was that we had a hard time getting the updated menu list to plan for our reception until the last minute. This made it a little hard for us to make our final selection.

Charlotte at the Embassy Suites Downtown Portland was so enjoyable and easy to work with. My husband and I were comfortable with her right away, and my parents loved her as well. Our wedding reception was absolutely gorgeous and I am so appreciative to Charlotte for making my vision come to life. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars were a few little details. We had requested a round table for the escort cards, and instead it was a rectangle table. I had wanted a round one to have a more dramatic look and the rectangle one didn't have quite the same feel. Also, our "signature drink" was miscommunicated and I had made a sign to sit on the bar letting our guests know which signature drink we had selected, but the bar had recorded a different signature drink, so my sign was incorrect and I took it down. Lastly, the napkins that we ordered through the vendor the hotel works with came in the wrong color so we had to use something else. This was not Charlotte's fault and she did a great job noticing this and made the last minute decision to use different napkins, but it was another detail that I noticed. Overall, we were happy with the way things turned out. The hotel accommodated early check-ins for a few guests the best that they could and all of their staff was friendly and nice. Some of our guests got a little rowdy in the lobby after the reception, and I really appreciated the kindness and patience of the staff. We had so many out of town guests that stayed at the hotel and I think we all felt truly taken care of that entire weekend! Thank you Embassy Suites!

My daughter's wedding reception was held in the Queen Marie Ballroom, which is a beautiful, elegant space. We didn't use a professional wedding planner. I worked directly with the banquet staff and they were extremely helpful and professional in the planning stages and during the reception. They did a great job coordinating with our vendors and helped the evening run smoothly, without being obtrusive. The staff even came to the rescue with a cake emergency,which was the fault of an outside bakery. The chef managed to fix the cake mess, and still send out a delicious dinner for 110 people. We definitely made the right choice with the Embassy Suites.

I had my wedding in the Queen marie ballroom, which is absolutely beautiful. The wedding coordinator made the process easy and was very helpful. She took care of all the details the day of the wedding, and was very considerate about not coming up to me during the wedding with little hiccups (i.e running out of wine). This is a truly beautiful hotel and a great location for a Portland wedding!
