EMRG Events

Hiring EMRG to be our coordinator and planner for the last two months prior to our wedding was the smartest decision we made in our entire process. Rebecca and Erika were extremely knowledgeable, respectful, thoughtful, organized and flexible—they made the event come together better than we could have envisioned. Communication with Rebecca and Erika was easy and never over-board: throughout the process, we met in person a few times at locations and times that were smart and mutually convenient, we had a few well-managed, succinct conference calls, and most logistics were worked out over email. All meetings were agenda-driven yet personal and allowed time for questions. One area of planning we had neglected prior to hiring EMRG was figuring out decorations, lay-out and feel of the ceremony and reception. EMRG was organized in helping us figure out seating, decorations, lighting and lay out and in providing much-needed opinions. It’s clear they enjoy this part of event-planning and are willing to go as large-scale, personal, budget-conscious and special as one wishes. And their creative use of our venue space was efficient—maximizing areas for socialization and ensuring the party mood was felt everywhere. As day-of coordinators , EMRG made the wedding activities organized and realistic. For example, photos started exactly when Erika and Rebecca had said they would, allowing—what I had initially thought to be—large time buffers for the wedding party to get from the hotel to the venue. My husband and I were able to turn over almost all stressful components of the event and trust all milestones of the day to them. Erika and Rebecca helped us build in time throughout the evening to be flexible for moments that were more time-consuming than we had thought they may be: for example, the first dance was delayed to allow more time for speeches…and that was fine! EMRG’s prices are reasonable and throughout the entire process they were transparent about their costs and budget matters they managed. No costs came as a surprise and they always shared up to date budgets (and hypothetical budgets around decision points). EMRG was completely respectful of our vision and wishes. There was no wasting time on details my husband and I stated were not important to us—Erika and Rebecca focused on those items we had highlighted as our areas of worry, weakness and need for organization. Of course, they still were willing to provide differing opinions, experience and insight, especially when my husband and I were on different sides of an opinion or were unsure of approach. When we were waffling on how to cover sound during the ceremony, they stepped in to simply state, that as an audience member, not being able to hear can detract from the experience. They provided guidance where most needed while still respecting our decisions. Most important, Erika and Rebecca were our advocates from the start: they became knowledgeable about all contracts we had negotiated and seamlessly took over communication with vendors. They were our advocates and pushed on vendors trying to up-charge us. Also, they were willing to push for additions we hadn’t negotiated with our vendors (for example, due to their negotiations, we were able to take photos in a room in our venue we had understood to be off-limits). If we ever again host an event of such scale, I would certainly hire EMRG to coordinate and manage.
