My husband and I got married in June of 2025 and we hired Brie for full-service wedding planning in August of 2023. We met with her virtually throughout our work together and her s...cheduling was reasonably easy to make work with our busy schedules. On the actual day of the wedding Brie was an asset and we were happy to have her organizing and managing the venue and vendors. The actual planning process, however, left us disappointed to say the least.
We hired a planner to take the mental load off our plates as two full-time professionals. Brie always insisted we didn’t need to take notes in our meetings as she was documenting our process, but we quickly found that she would forget important details from one meeting to the next and action items often took several days to weeks for her to complete, despite assuring us things would be done in a timely manner. She almost never communicated when items had been completed or when she had contacted various vendors until prompted by us. Ultimately, we were willing to overlook most of this as perhaps it was just a difference of process or expectations. What we could not and cannot still overlook is her budget management.
We were very up front with our budget from the start, $40,000. We had a large guest count and being in Colorado, we expected things to be on the pricier end. Every vendor we booked we asked her if she felt they would fit within our budget (venue, photographer, caterer). Our venue had several options for required catering so we wanted to be sure we could afford what we were agreeing to. Brie, every step of the way, insisted that the budget was fine and she was tracking it based on our uploaded contracts. When we got our catering proposal, I decided to check the budget myself as the mental math wasn’t adding up. Turns out, the budget sheet was not being updated and when I input all of the items myself it became clear there was no way we would be able to match our original budget without breaking contract with our venue. Brie had no idea. We met with her and asked her to create a new budget based on what we had already booked, and the new budget she suggested was $75,000. Yes, $35,000 more than our original budget. As that was unacceptable, we went through it together and took the budget down to $60,000 and that ended up being our working budget for the remainder of planning. That $20,000 addition has delayed our ability to buy a house in our original time frame.
Long story short, we would trust Brie with day of planning or vendor recommendations, but we would never trust her with any budgeting, financials, or reasonable and timely communication as is expected with full-service wedding planning.
