Why you should hire a planner—A reputable planner is worth their weight in gold because they’ve experienced all that can go wrong and managed to come up with a solution for it. We had several unexpected guests arrive at our wedding with no seats or meals planned for them, but Laura at Events in the City handled it without me being the wiser. Plus wedding planners know what needs to happen in order to create your perfect day. I would never have thought to hire a shuttle to assist with offsite photos on the day of the wedding but that decision really helped my wedding party enjoy that moment. Lastly vendors don’t want to piss off a planner because they know that it will cost them in the long run. I recently helped a friend plan her wedding without a planner. She was on the phone 30 minutes before the ceremony asking family members to help with transportation because the shuttle driver they found on the internet didn’t show up.
Why you should chose Laura at Events in the City (EITC)—Laura made my wedding a true joy. She was a pleasure to work with leading up to the wedding and an absolute professional on the day of the wedding. Plus she intervened when my rehearsal dinner location nearly fell through even though she was not paid to do so. Even days following the wedding I learned of all that Laura and her team did for my guests. In fact, many of my guests mentioned how impressed they were with the service at EITC.
Very expensive for what you get...I did ALL the work and got all the vendors, they met with me a month before to get a copy of all the contracts that I had already secured.
They sent confusing and contradicting emails on my behalf to my vendors, changed the timeline and consequently I had to add and pay out of pocket an extra hour of photography (they didn't reimburse me for that, or for the calligraphy services that they suggested I should use).
During the ceremony, the altar servers took care of me and helped me with the bouquet, not my wedding planner. During the ceremony, my veil was not spread to get all the details of it in the pictures, so they didn't help at all.
They didn't take pictures for us or help us being carefree....they just stood during the reception, and we had to tell them to talk to the caterer and speed up service.
On top of that, they left an hour before us, so nobody was there when the vendors left.
They didn't bring any extra props or extra decorations to make it nicer....we had to do everything, so the word "planner" might not apply for them.
Super expensive for the service that you get...for what I got just for one day, we should have paid no more than $300!!
We worked with EITC through a monthly planning package (The Bellini) with Megan Pollard.
There are not enough words to compliment EITC - Megan is an absolute rockstar, and helped us make our wedding night perfect. To say that she is on top of her game is an understatement - with Megan's help, I was literally a stress free bride on my wedding day - and I didn't know that would be possible.
Megan is a great source of knowledge and beyond responsive. I always heard back from her same-day, and she was full of great ideas. When we met to do a walk through at our venue, she thought of things that had never even crossed my mind, and was already full of ideas and solutions to problems I had not even considered.
Leading up to the wedding, and especially during the week of, I really saw the value in having a wedding coordinator like Megan. Instead of spending my wedding week following up with vendors and organizing schedules, I enjoyed my time with my family knowing that Megan had everything handled. I did not have to do any follow up, and yet everything went as planned and showed up as needed because Megan was so on top of everything.
Most importantly, Megan is the reason our wedding night ran so smoothly. There were a few bumps along the road, and I never knew about a single one, because Megan handled everything - even confiscating tennis balls from a oddball relative who demanded to give everyone a juggling lesson. She kept us on schedule, and everything ran like a well-oiled machine. She had everyone and everything where they needed to be at exactly the right time, to the point that my husband and I were reeling from how perfect the night actually was.
I cannot stress enough the value we received from Megan and EITC - it was by far some of the best money we spent on our wedding. I understand that not everyone sees the purpose behind having a wedding coordinator, but I now know I would have been lost without one. Just the stress that was lifted from not having to call and follow up with each and every vendor or delivery or worrying about who was going to show up where and at what time was value enough - added to all of Megan's advice, ideas, and ability to make everything fall into place, and I would have paid double what she asked to have the night go as well as it did. The cost of the coordinator, although very reasonable, was a hard sell for my parents who helped us pay for our wedding. As someone who works in PR and events myself, they couldn't understand why I needed a coordinator. At the end of the night, they were totally sold, and beyond impressed with Megan and EITC.
Honestly, this will be the best money you spend. Utilizing EITC will allow you to skip the stress, sit back, and enjoy your perfect wedding day - they will take care of everything from start to finish, and you'll be so glad you used this vendor.
Megan at Events in the City is the best ever. She made my wedding so EASY. There were so many details she took care of. Her design sense is awesome, she is always friendly and willing to answer any question. Megan made our day one that we just enjoyed and didnt have to worry about vendors, timing or anything! LOVE HER, hands down the BEST!
My wedding would have never happened if it weren't for Laura Ritchie at EITC. I highly recommend hiring her and Meghan for your wedding!
My groom and I went back and forth on whether we needed a day of coordinator for our small wedding of 70 people. But oh my gosh I am so glad we got one. Megan Pollard from Events in the City was fantastic. Out of all the vendors I worked with for the wedding, she was the only one I had the most confidence in and did not have to worry about. Her professionalism, responsiveness, and quality of service was topnotch. I didn't have to worry about anything the day of the wedding which made the day so much more enjoyable. My bridesmaids and guests were all very impressed by her services. I do not know what I would have done without her and I am telling everyone I know, if you get married in Northern Virginia you need to call Megan:)
Laura was a lifesaver! I cannot say enough good things. She was so prompt to answer even the smallest of my questions, no matter what time of day. She makes you feel like you are her only bride. Every detail of the wedding came together to be better than I could have imagined. My wedding seemed flawless, she kept all my vendors in line and on time. She took care of all the clean up with the vendors and made sure when we left the wedding we had everything we needed. There was nothing my parents and I needed to worry about because she handled it all! I couldn't of pulled off our wedding without her!
