The best endorsement I can give them is that I was not aware of one single problem the day of my wedding. Either they did such a great job of planning that there were no hiccups, or if they did occur, they handled them so smoothly behind the scenes that I never even heard of them. In either case, the day could not have been any more wonderful for us, and we’re so happy we used the Fab Event Design team.
We are both organized, decisive people, so we didn’t think we needed the full planner, but wanted someone who could look over our plans and make sure we weren’t missing anything and that it all fit together. Kirsten’s “coaching + coordination” package was the perfect balance for us.
Our meetings were always targeted and efficient, which both working full time, we really appreciated. We felt from the beginning that Kirsten really got our vision and did an amazing job of matching us up with vendors that could make it come to life within our price range. We were genuinely thrilled with all of the vendors that she recommended. She was particularly helpful in tracking down some vendors that were less responsive to us as individuals, like transportation companies.
When our date changed and Kirsten could no longer be our day-of contact, she left us in excellent hands with Stephanie and Marit. They effectively corralled an unruly bunch (our families …) both at the rehearsal and day-of. I also really appreciated that Kirsten checked in that morning, despite being at another wedding.

Absolute best decision we made- having Kirsten and team be our day of coordinator for our big day! When we booked Fab Event Design, we had no idea how much of a godsend they would be especially with Covid.
First off, I am a very very Type A person. I quickly realized that wedding planning and day of flow is meant for professionals because there are so many things going on. So thankful we hired them!
Kirsten was professional, friendly and super helpful every step of the way. I asked a ton of questions and she gave lots of feedback. I trust her completely and she executed our day perfectly! With Covid we had many changes- Kirsten was courteous and kind during a very difficult time. She helped keep me up to speed with changing rules, how it affected us and how we can change things up. She worked a lot behind the scenes and connected with all of our vendors and got on the same page!
At the rehearsal she was instrumental in keeping the flow going and helping us set up the day. The whole rehearsal moved smoothly and we had all of our questions answered.
The big day— I can honestly say that without Fab Event Design our day wouldn’t have gone the way it did. They came in and got right to work! With helping finalize some decor to facilitating timelines and vendors. The two of them moved around the wedding almost in a stealth way and got everything accomplished with smiles on their faces! Honestly it was like having fairy godmothers helping every step of the way. Everything went smoothly! They even tore everything down and packed it in the cars so when we were ready to leave we could just leave. Not a worry in the world. It was such an amazing experience to have them help us out. They took our vision and built on it and made our day extra special. I cannot thank them enough! I highly recommend hiring them for your wedding- you will NOT be disappointed! Trust me, you have no idea how much you would be missing.

There are no words to adequately describe our gratitude to Kirsten for her hard work in making our big day not only a success but an enjoyable day for us, our family, and our friends. She is simply wonderful. We basically handed her one of the most important days of our lives and asked her to take care of it all, and she did it beautifully. We would work with her again without hesitation. A true professional, Kirsten didn’t bat an eye at our requests or questions. She was the go-to person for our vendors, which alleviated a lot of our stress with final planning in the last 6 weeks before the wedding. She helped plan all the little details that I had not even thought of (who is walking together down the aisle and in what order, who’s taking care of decor/gift transport at end of night, the whole day-of timeline). She was also the go-to person the day of the wedding and handled several issues, including sewing my husband’s button back on his suit in the middle of photos and even gave us a last minute dance lesson and pep talk when we got nervous before our first dance. Kirsten was incredible! After swooping in for us when our original planner was non-responsive, she was more than happy to make our dream wedding come true! Kirsten was amazing to work with! She did a great job with helping plan our wedding and also created BEAUTIFUL floral arrangements for our decor and centerpieces as well as the bouquets. We had a big wedding with different locations for ceremony and reception and Kirsten helped make the logistics behind everything run smoothly and without hiccups. Kirsten is incredible, and I can’t say enough nice things about her and her thoughtful team. She is creative, confident, supportive yet decisive, driven, and professional. But more importantly, she is a great person. She is funny and kind, which were two things that I really needed to have on my side going into my wedding day! I’m a naturally anxious person, however in Kirsten’s presence, I never once worried. Truly. She handled issues and presented decisions with an ease and clarity that had me confident she would make things happen – and she always did!! She handled the flowers, the table, and the overall décor, and added some things that made my jaw drop.
Without filling this review with expletives to emphasize just how amazing Kirsten is, just trust that she will exceed your expectations. Leading up to the wedding and especially on the day itself, she would appear to check in about something at the exact moment that I had a question. Then, something that I thought would take 30 minutes to do was done before I could turn around. I still don’t know how she did that, but I’m pretty convinced she’s magic. If my life could run as smoothly as my wedding day, I would pay Kirsten all of my money forever!
I think I can confidently say that hiring Kirsten was the best decision my partner has ever made, as it definitely made me a more sane person to be around We were excited to spend time with her at our wedding and sad that time is now over – how often can you say that about someone you work with?!
Choosing Kirsten at Fab Event Design as our wedding coordinator was the first wedding decision we made. We were that confident that she was the absolute best in the area. She helped us every step of the way and since she we were planning for over a year and a half, we had a lot of choices to make. She was so helpful in making vendor decisions--she had recommendations and suggestions about every vendor we selected from the food to the flowers and they all turned out to be wonderful. She is so helpful, thoughtful and supportive. I couldn't have imagined my wedding planning or wedding day going any smoother. We hired Kirsten, owner of Fab Event Design, as coordinator for my daughter's wedding. From our first meeting we could tell that Kirsten was very experienced, organized, detail oriented and professional. Trying to plan a large wedding with my daughter over 6 hours away was a challenge, but meeting with Kirsten made us feel like a weight had been lifted off of our shoulders.
Kirsten's services included being at the rehearsal, which was great as she was able to meet the wedding party and get a feel for the church.
As for the day of, Kirsten's help was immeasurable. From helping with coordinating the set-up for the reception, to pictures, to the wedding, to clean-up after the reception, she and her assistant were amazing. Kirsten took control of the reception as far as directing people, she was able to answer all questions from the vendors (which means she had the fore thought to ask me the same questions in advance), and took care of dispensing payments. Her services allowed us to thoroughly enjoy the day and night. I had no worries the day of the wedding as I knew we were in good hands with Kirsten!
We are so grateful to Kirsten of Fab Event Design for her one-on-one, superior and professional attention. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is planning a wedding large or small. She will calm your nerves and "run the show" like a pro!
My husband and I had quite a large wedding party. 8 Bridesmaids, 8 Groomsmen, and 10 ladies in my family that were in what we called “The House Party”. Kirsten not only had her work cut out for her coordinating the logistics of working with the two venues- The Woods Chapel for the ceremony and The Lafayette Club for the reception, but she also had to deal with the logistics of working with 18 wedding party members, making sure we were all in the right place at the right time. I had seen Kirsten work her magic at my sister-in-law’s wedding and was nothing but impressed with her hard work and attention to detail with making that wedding come to life. Kirsten and her team went above and beyond again for our wedding, and once again, I was amazed at her work. She not only attended the rehearsal at The Woods Chapel on the Thursday before the big day, but she also attended the 2nd rehearsal we had with our entire Wedding Party at the Groom’s Dinner that Friday night. Everything went so smoothly. I was more relaxed than ever and trusted her the day-of with all of the finishing touches. Our Wedding Day was the best day of our lives, and Kirsten definitely played a significant role in making it everything we had dreamed of. If you are questioning whether hiring a coordinator is a necessary or not… DO IT, you will not regret it! I would recommend Fab Event Design to anyone!
Kirsten from Fab Event Design coordinated our wedding perfectly! She was always there to answer any question and even when we threw a last minute fireworks display her way, she connected with all the right people to make everything go smoothly. I would recommend using Kirsten for her great vendor recommendations and overall great job making sure everything is 100% perfect!
My husband and I had a smaller, less formal wedding, so at first we were not going to hire a planner or coordinator. We didn't think we needed it, we didn't think we could afford it, and we didn't want our wedding to have a staged, artificial feel; we wanted it to feel authentic, like us.
After we started planning, we realized we did need it, and after we started researching day-of coordinators, we decided it was worth it to us financially. And my husband and I agree that it was one of the best wedding-planning choices we made.
Kirsten was a wonderful coordinator from day one. She gave us great recommendations of wonderful vendors to work with, and ideas and suggestions to MANY question-filled phone calls and e-mails from me.
Most importantly, neither my husband nor I wanted to worry about the tick-tock of the day or spend our wedding day setting things up or fussing over a clipboard. And we didn't have to.
I didn't go to our ceremony site that day until literally just before I walked down the aisle with my folks, and I didn't worry a moment about it, and everything was beautiful, and I know we have Kirsten to thank for that. We used Kirsten at Fab Event Design as our day-of-coordinator for our wedding at the Walker Art Center. Kirsten was recommended by the caterer at the Walker and she knew a lot about the venue and vendors we used. She was incredibly helpful both before and during the wedding. She made the whole experience go so much more smoothly! Even my mom, who was skeptical about the need for a day of coordinator, has said several times that she has never misjudged something so badly! Kirsten is very good at her job and a true asset to couples who are getting married!
I loved Fab Event Design! Kirsten and her assistants really put my mind at ease and let me fully enjoy my wedding day. They took on all the details so that myself, husband , family and friends did not have to worry about lifting a finger. I even ran into some last minute stressers with my wedding day programs and Kirsten said not to worry and she would handle it....and she did. It was a HUGE relief. From the first phone conversation we had I knew that I had someone who would be right by my side making sure everything was perfect for our wedding. We hired Kirsten for design + coordination of our wedding and it was easily the most cost effective service we had at our wedding. We planned the event from across the country, so her help and expertise were invaluable in selecting vendors. After meeting with her in person and discussing our vision and budget over phone and e-mail, she was able to narrow down each category of vendors to a select few. She set up meetings with the vendors in the one busy, but fun, weekend I had in Minneapolis. Our vendors were great!! I was definitely happy with all the professionals we hired and would never have considered a few of them based solely on their websites (which is where I started looking from out of town).
Kirsten is very diplomatic and experienced in dealing with brides (she talked me down from the ledge on more than one occasion when I was stressing about invitations or deadlines). She did a great job taking into account many family members' opinions and views and offered up her expertise, recommendations, and reasoning.
Kirsten worked really well with all our other vendors. It was very easy to have her coordinate with a vendor without having to be in the middle.
Once wedding season started and she had multiple weddings every weekend, I felt that it was more difficult to get a hold of her and get my questions answered. This was frustrating, since I was accustomed to rapid and thorough responses. It was also difficult to negotiate on pricing with vendors through her. While she did a great job setting up communication with vendors I didn't want to go behind her back to negotiate directly with a vendor, but it was awkward to have her do the in between negotiations.
All in all, these were very minor bumps in the long, smooth journey of our wedding. Kirsten is great!! super friendly, organized, plethora of industry knowledge. My parents are eternally grateful to her for saving them tons of work and also really liked working with her. We were very thankful to have her running our wedding day!!
Just as she had promised, hiring Kirsten allowed my friends and family to truly feel like guests and just sit back and enjoy our wedding day. We planned the wedding from 1000 miles away and it was such a relief to arrive in Minnesota and just hand our vision over to Kirsten to execute. With our wedding set up and details in good hands, my groom and I were able to enjoy the weekend visiting with our hundreds of loved ones who had travelled from around the country to celebrate. Kirsten had some great vendor and venue recommendations. She coordinated with a dozen vendors (caterer,florist, DJ, lighting...) to set up the perfect reception for us! Kirsten had excellent suggestions for the timeline for our big day and kept everyone on track and organized. We had a very clear idea of what we wanted for our reception creatively, but we still found it worth every penny to have Kirsten on our team to oversee the day so we could just have a blast! For those of you who are like me and like to plan most of the big tasks required for a wedding (i.e. picking out colors, keeping lists of names and number, and maintaining a timeline, and major vendors) you still need Kirsten. Despite all the micro managing of little details that I did, things still did not go as planned and Kirsten saved the day. Example: At my wedding rehearsal at the church, the individual who was in charge if running the rehearsal was extremely disorganized and we had no idea what we were supposed to do! I gave Kirsten a look and that was all it took for her to jump and take control of the situation. Because of her, we knew what to do during the ceremony. Also, she was present for all the vendors to ensure set up and delivery was done properly and in a timely matter. She made my day extremely stress free and my memory of my wedding day is a happy one.
Kirsten did a fabulous job of helping me plan my wedding in 11 weeks! Everything from day of coordination to assisting with lining up the vendors to making my invitations. I don't know what I would have done without her. Thank you for all of your time and effort, Kirsten!

I was really disappointed with the service we received compared to the price we paid. First of all, a lot of the setup and takedown stuff we asked her to take care of we kind of were given the impression that we were putting her out by asking her to do them. I felt guilty about it at first but later was upset I was made to feel like that when that was what we were paying her to take charge of. She got snippy with several of my bridesmaids throughout the day when I’d either send them to ask her a question or when they would try and help (for example, one of my bridesmaids got really upset that she felt Kirsten had yelled at her when she had tried to help pin on the boutonnieres when Kirsten was in a panic to get them all on). Secondly, while I feel a DOC’s job is to try and keep the stress level for the bride and groom at a minimum, Kirsten brought me issues that I don’t feel I needed to know about. I talked DH into hiring a DOC because after all the work we put into planning, we didn’t want to have to worry about everything on the actual day. However, there were several instances where something I wasn’t upset about Kirsten came to me and re-hashed issues that I didn’t need to worry about.
We hired Kirsten to direct our rehearsal, set up for the wedding, run the ceremony, and get everyone situated before dinner. She did a fantastic job! Thanks to her, our wedding day was stress-free. She was worth every penny--I highly recommend her to other couples!
Words cannot describe how beneficial, helpful and supportive Kirsten from Fab.you.lous Even Design has been throughout the wedding planning process. I know many couples are concerned about their budget and as a result do not even consider hiring a wedding planner - if you are this couple I would truly think twice about this. Kirsten will make sure that you stay within your budget and she truly takes the stress out of wedding planning. I contacted her early in the planning process and from the very beginnig she was very easy to work with and would go out of her way to help, support and advise me. During the planning process she listened very carefully to the vision I had for the wedding and greatly exceeded my expectations. She had vendors in mind that were within my budget and could produce what I had envisioned - this saved me hours of searching! She was in contact with all of my vendors so that they knew exactly where to go and knew when they had to be there. She had answers to all of my questions, whether I thought they were stupid or not.
The services she provided the day of the wedding were impeccable - she arrived at the reception hall early Saturday morning to set up, she then came to the ceremony site to make sure everything was going smoothly and was there to make sure everybody got down the aisle including the flower girl (4 years old) and ring bearer (2 years old). She then went back to the reception hall to complete the set-up before the guests arrived. At the end of the night she made sure everything was cleaned up - she even packed up the decorations and made sure they were in my parents car for them to bring home. My parents are enterally grateful for her help - they didn't have to worry about anything the day of the wedding and could enjoy themselves. I didn't have assign any tasks to family members, which I am very thankful for. Just when you think that was enough, she then had champagne and chocolate waiting in our hotel room when we arrived! After the wedding my parents, my husbands parents, my husband and myself were all raving about the work she did - she is a must have!!!
Kirsten's wedding coordination services exceeded our expectations. Not only did she provide helpful bumpers [guidance] in the bowling alley of writing one's own ceremony, but she also made our wedding day completely stress-free (for reasons too numerous to list here), and treating us to champagne and goodies in our hotel room at the end of the night! I never once worried about ANY of the details or vendors on the day of, or the weeks leading up to the main event. Book this girl up; she's a bargain!
We hired Kirsten for our August 2009 wedding and couldn't have been happier with that decision!
First off, she is incredibly friendly, easy going, very easy to work with. By having Kirsten as our Day of Coordinator we were able to fully enjoy our wedding day stress free. We also didn't have to bother family members with duties that day.
Kirsten set up our entire reception site (even making a trip to the cities and back for more table settings!!). When we arrived after the wedding, we got to enjoy seeing the site and what a wonderful job she had done putting everything together just as we wanted.
She also set up the ceremony site and was in contact with all our vendors making sure everything happened on time and as planned. Overall, she helped keep the entire day flowing and was our go-to person for any concern.
At the end of the night she had already packed up all the gifts and tore down the reception site, so we could just drive away. It was wonderful!
Since my wedding, one of my best friends used her services. As a bridesmaid in this wedding I was again able to see how hard she works to make sure the bridal party and couple can enjoy the day. That day she probably ran up 4 flights of stairs 300 times and was still hauling things around when I left!
I loved her, and have already recommended her to my friends (she's doing yet another friend's wedding next year!!) Best money we spent!
As an out-of-town couple, we booked Fab.you.lous as our day-of coordinator, but through our emails and discussions leading up to the wedding, her suggestions, guidance and ideas provided us with so much more than just day-of services.
Our wedding day went so smoothly because of Fab.you.lous events. She managed the other vendors at both the church and the reception site seamlessly, and was incredibly discreet all day. She made sure that my mother and I were not stressed over details, and were able to enjoy ourselves completely.
Our DJ somehow did not have the Mother of the Groom/Groom dance song, and instead of convincing us to use a generic song, Fab.you.lous Events acted quickly and downloaded the specific song to her laptop and it was able to be connected to the sound system in a matter of minutes. It was a minor hiccup to the evening, but the song was very special to the Mother of the Groom, and it meant a lot to us that they were able to dance to their song of choice.
Fab.you.lous Events did what it needed to do to ensure that all our wedding day wishes were accomodated.

I booked Kirsten and her team with the Coordination package. This package said was meant to be a Day-Of package but Kirsten was there from when I first booked her till the last guest left the reception and we still keep in touch! She is genuine and sweet and she truely cares about you and your event! She was a blast to work with and I am honored to call her a friend.
Our experience with Fab.you.lous Event Design was nothing short of perfect. Kirsten was amazing with details and ideas that made our day truly unique and special. The day of the wedding I was able to have fun and focus on myself instead of having to worry about setting up and making sure everything was going according to plan. it became easier to see the value. After reading several great reviews on her, I met with her and instantly clicked with her. She is so sweet, bubbly, friendly and easy-going. One of the things she said to me in our first meet was something that stuck with me to the very end
that shed never sent a bride down the aisle late. This was a BIG deal to me. Our ceremony started at 2pm, but we only had that room until 3pm. So, the ceremony HAD to start on time, get done on time and everything needed to be cleared out of there on time. All of that went perfectly. She was such a huge help to Jenny, who was doing all the decorations for the ceremony, reception and doing my bouquets
and thats not even her day job! Kirsten helped her set up the reception room the night before. She helped offered some help to my Officiant during the rehearsal. She was a HUGE asset on the day itself. She kept constant tabs on all set up, making sure things were where they were supposed to be. She was always checking in with me, making sure that I was going well. She even went to pick up the Subway Party Subs that Id ordered to feed everybody while getting ready. She kept me calm because every time I asked her about something, she was already on top of it or it was already done.
After the ceremony, she was a HUGE help. We had planned to head to a nearby park with our photographer, but she did not have any room in her van. So Kirsten grabbed the keys to my car and escorted Russ and I to the park. She was such a huge help to poor DH as well, because his rental shoes had him slipping all over the ice/snow. She helped us stay on task for the rest of the night
when to cut cake, when to start toasts, when to do first dance. Otherwise I would have just stood around and chatted with people all night. At the end of the night after wed had our last dance, she told Russ to grab me and head up to our room. When we arrived, we found the front room of the suite lit with candles with the fireplace going. When we walked into the bedroom area, there were rose petals in the shape of a heart on the bed and leading across the floor to the Jacuzzi which she had run for us. Shed set up my iPod stereo to play soft music and had run and gotten us a card, treats and bottles of water. All were things that we needed so badly at the end of a wonderful but long day.
Now that Ive gone on and on about her, I think you should be able to guess that I would HIGHLY recommend Kirsten!! Russ, my mom, all my bridesmaids and many guests all thought that she was fantastic. Russ and I at the end of the day decided she was definitely money well spent!!!
Kirsten was probably the best vendor I chose on the day of my wedding - she made everything HAPPEN and left me worry-less that day. Everything was taken care of!
After we had our final meeting, I felt a ball of stress taken off my shoulders, and I could finally relax and enjoy the last few days of planning.
There were a few snafus the day of the wedding (centerpieces didn't construct like I thought they would, for example), but I didn't even realize this until Kirsten told me the next day. She took care of everything and kept me relaxed and excited for my wedding day!
You won't regret hiring her as a DOC, and she's a fab wedding planner too if you need more than just her day-of services (which are actually more like months-leading-up-to-and-day-of!). I'd give her 6 stars if I could. I can't praise her enough.
