We were left pretty disappointed with Feasts of Fancy and would not recommend them. After continuously assuring and telling us that the area of the venue (West Bottoms) is quiet and dead on the weekends, we showed up the night before our wedding for our rehearsal to learn (on our own, not from them) that there was an EDM festival happening right across the street the day of our wedding. They also told us guests would be able to park in the lots across the street, but the lots were sold prior to our wedding and they did not feel the need to tell us. We understand the festival was out of their control, but feel they misled us on a few fronts, which negatively impacted our day – affecting our plans and timeline, forcing us to make many changes the day of our wedding, and creating parking issues for many of our guests. To us, it feels irresponsible and naïve on their part to be so proactive in telling us there would not be any major noise issues affecting our wedding (ceremony & cocktail planned in their outdoor courtyard) without knowing or seeing if that was really the case. Most disappointing is that they stated that it’s not their responsibility or problem to know or pay attention to events happening in their neighborhood which could affect their events. For this, we would not recommend them as an event venue, as we feel similar situations are likely to happen to others in the future. One of our vendors informed us the morning of the wedding that the venue told them we were moving everything indoors (we had never said or agreed to that) and we believe their desire for us to do so, also meant they did not clean the courtyard for our ceremony as they had told us they would. It was very dirty. When we reached out following the wedding, they were unresponsive for weeks and when we finally did get a response from one of the owners, Joel, it was quite rude, dismissive, and condescending.
Feasts of Fancy is a gorgeous venue with amazing food and a wonderful staff! We were able to plan everything with Stephanie and she really took care of all the stressful things and we just got to have fun! Their food was delightful - definitely a step above your normal wedding buffett (and I honestly still think about how much I loved their succotash and potato salad). The venue is clean, cute, and easily accessible. We were able to just bring table decorations and didn't have to spend a lot of time adding extra decor because it is already so charming inside. They were great dealing with our go-with-the-flow timing, you can bring your own alcohol, they are super responsive. I would absolutely recommend going with them to host your wedding and/or reception. Plus - they include everything (tables, chairs, linens, staff, etc) so it is really affordable, without feeling like you cut corners. We were thrilled to celebrate our wedding here and you will be too!
Feasts of Fancy was perfect for our wedding. Stephanie was our event coordinator, and she was helpful and well organized throughout the planning process. She made sure to iron out all the details of the event to ensure that the day of went as smoothly as possible. On the day of the wedding, the staff were so accommodating and attentive. The space was beautiful and I felt that all of my wishes during the planning process were honored. The food was also fantastic; we had multiple guests tell us it was the best food they have had at a wedding. I would absolutely recommend Feasts of Fancy for those who are planning a wedding.
We had a wonderful experience - staff was incredibly attentive during our reception and planning. We were planning remotely and preferred to communicate via email and Camille did a wonderful job of working with us this way! The space itself was more beautiful than I could have imagined and the outdoor space was a hit with the kids at our wedding. We also used FoF for catering which got rave reviews from our guests!
We loved Feasts of Fancy! The venue is absolutely stunning, inside and out. It's so wonderful to have so much bundled together- they take care of the flatware, glasses, plates, chairs, linens, servers, bartenders, food... I didn't realize until talking with people at other venues just how much FOF takes care of for you! It was perfect for us as a couple planning a wedding from out of town. We loved the outdoor space for the venue and at first I was nervous about the Oscar style seating rain plan, but those fears were unfounded because when we *did* have to shift indoors because of rain, the space was perfect and made us feel surrounded by love. There was still plenty of room for all the guests, seating for immediate family, and room for all of the bridal party and groomsmen to stand. The food was INCREDIBLE- we did serving stations and every single one was amazing, our guests raved about all the food. It's also great that you can bring in your own alcohol and return what is unopened- it was so nice to be able to have the drinks of your choice and not have to do a bar package per head. The servers were also incredible and did a phenomenal job with everything. We couldn't imagine our wedding anywhere else!
Feasts of Fancy was so wonderful to work with, I cannot recommend enough! They were easy to communicate with and it was incredible having a venue that was a one stop shop in so many way - food, linens, serving ware, and some of the decor even. They let us bring our own alcohol and served it exactly as requested and the food was so delicious, everyone was talking about it! The space was even more beautiful than I had pictured once we had it all decorated, and everything literally came together like a dream. The service the day of was impeccable as well, the waiters were attentive and even placed guests’ napkins on the backs of their chairs when they got up. It was such a pleasure to work with Camille too, and her sense of humor helped lighten the mood at just the right moments! So happy we chose to use Feasts of Fancy.
We used Feast of Fancy for catering for our wedding day, and they did not disappoint!! After working with them for over 2 years since we postponed our wedding twice, they were always very understanding and easy to work with! They were able to accommodate us for our menu requests, even last minute when we forgot to request a gluten free meal (oops!), and everything was delicious. Everything went so smoothly, highly recommend!
We had our wedding reception here in June 2021--it was fantastic! Our food was overall delicious (honestly one of my favorite aspects of our reception!), the vibe and space itself was perfect, and FOF's staff both leading up to and day-of was stellar. Vicki and Camille know exactly what they are doing and are SO helpful. Set-up was very easy and they made clean-up/packing up decor that we brought, flowers, extra booze, etc at the end of the night very easy. I even left my cell phone in the bridal suite by accident after my spouse and I left for the night and Vicki helped us get it back the following day before we left for our honeymoon. Last but not least, the outdoor courtyard space was icing on the cake!
My husband and I were married and held our reception at Feasts of Fancy. They were so great, day of the staff was amazing, so attentive and everything flowed perfectly. The space was gorgeous, food was great and staff was top notch!
My husband and I got married at Feasts of Fancy in September, after having to postpone our wedding due to COVID-19. We worked with Camille throughout the planning process, who was patient and engaged as we worked through the logistics of rescheduling everything.
On the day-of, the staff was friendly and helpful, always around to refill a plate or drink. The food was delicious and we received a ton of compliments on it. We didn't do much decoration to the venue because it already was so beautiful. I definitely would recommend working with them.
Absolutely gorgeous venue space with amazing character and wonderful staff! We had our wedding reception there and it could not have been any better! Camille and the rest of the Feasts of Fancy staff kept us organized and stress free during the planning process. The tastings beforehand let us sample all the amazing food (bacon wrapped, goat cheese stuffed dates are a must!). We were taken care of the whole night and felt like royalty! They accommodated for special dietary restrictions and made us feel very safe. We could not recommend them enough!
This is an incredible venue with an even more incredible staff. They focus on the little details and ensure everything goes off without a hitch. Plus the food is absolutely AMAZING!
Choosing Feasts of Fancy as our venue and catering team was one of the best decisions my husband and I made when planning our wedding! After touring the space, it was clear the Hobbs building (where they are located) had so much more charm than your typical event space. From the original wood floors to the brick walls, rustic pillars, and cobblestone courtyard, this venue is vintage chic and so gorgeous. It needed very few added decorations, as they already have lanterns with battery-operated candles and café lights hung both indoors & out. Vines climb the fences outside, making for a great photo backdrop.
In regards to Covid, we did re-schedule twice with no issues. Since the pandemic, they told us they installed UV Scrubbers and HEPA filtration for their HVAC system at double the room capacity. With the recent surge of the Delta variant, we did have a lot of guests who were initially nervous about coming but in the end told us they felt safe and comfortable at our wedding. We had just shy of 100 guests in attendance so we were able to space out the tables pretty well.
The food was delicious and the tasting events provided us so much inspiration! It was like a mock-wedding every time we went-- a great time to meet new vendors and see how they would use fun linens and different floral arrangements. To see the food displayed at our wedding was beautiful & impressive- it's unlike any other buffet I've seen! The staff filled the plates for each guest in line due to Covid.
The BEST part of our experience though was the staff. Camille was our day-of coordinator and she is a true professional. The whole event ran so smoothly. We heard positive stories from guests afterwards of how the servers were kind & attentive. For example one brought their kids some extra fruit and made sure the vegetarian and gluten-free guests were served their alternate meal options. They also offered to serve the older guests even though we only paid for the buffet. They provided champagne service and also offered to serve the cake as well.
So much is included when you book with Feasts of Fancy. You should have no hesitations when considering this venue!
We had our wedding reception at Feasts of Fancy and it was absolutely amazing!! Camille and the entire staff went above and beyond to make our day go so smoothly. Everyone that works there has been with Feasts of Fancy for years, which says a lot. Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. Camille was so easy to work with and gave honest opinions on our ideas and choices which I really appreciated. The food was AMAZING and we got so many compliments on it. I loved that we didn't need to book other vendors for food, linens, glassware, bar staff, etc. Everything was included. Last, but not least, the space is stunning. We really didn't have to do much decorating because the space is so beautiful on it's own. I HIGHLY recommend booking Feasts of Fancy for your wedding. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
If we hadn’t done our wedding at Feasts of Fancy, we likely would still not be married. Our original wedding date was set for May 2nd, 2020. However, when COVID-19 started to impact the United States, we were told that we would have to reschedule our wedding. The owners (Andy and Kathleen Jacot) were extremely transparent throughout this process. They communicated to us that they were not able to host any weddings at the venue in May and told us as soon as they were made aware of these changes. They provided us with a list of open dates and we were able to reschedule our wedding to June 5th fairly easily. Later, when Andy and Kathleen were told that they couldn’t host any weddings in early June, they displayed the same transparency and told us as soon as possible so that we could reschedule again to late July. We truly believe that if we had been working with any other venue that we would have probably had to have cancelled our wedding and elope. Thankfully, the staff and owners at Feasts of Fancy were transparent, easy to work with, and communicative with us from the beginning and we were able to celebrate our special day.
From the complimentary monthly tastings, working with our day of wedding coordinator (Vicki) to map out the perfect timeline and get her insights on colors, themes, etc., recommendations provided by Feasts of Fancy for third party vendors (i.e., music, flowers, etc.), we could not have had a better wedding planning experience (despite having to reschedule multiple times). The staff at Feasts of Fancy ensured that everyone at our wedding was safe and had a great time celebrating us. Andy recommended that we use UV air purifiers in an effort to kill any airborne germs that may have been present inside during the reception and the staff set up some tables outside for guests that were not comfortable sitting inside. The staff used gloves, worse masks, and served everyone their food on a plate individually in an effort to be as safe as possible. This paid off as we are happy to report that none of the guests that attended our wedding contracted COVID-19.
We had numerous friends and family members compliment us on our signature drink that the staff at Feasts of Fancy prepared and almost everyone asked us for the potatoes au gratin recipe that was served as a side dish. Needless to say, the food was excellent and served as an exclamation point on our special day. We were so happy that we had the opportunity to choose exactly what we wanted to be served at the wedding after attending numerous tastings and with recommendations from Vicki / the staff. The experience provided to us is not unique, as the staff at Feasts of Fancy makes everyone feel like their wedding is the most important and does whatever they can to have each wedding go as smooth as possible. Our wedding was truly was a dream come true and it was a pleasure to work with Feasts of Fancy. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
I work in the Event Industry and was looking for a few very specific things for my wedding venue/caterer. Great Staff to work with me, attentive servers during the cocktail hour and dinner, bartenders who properly mix drinks, tasty food that matched its presentation, and an all in one venue. FOF gave me all of these and more. The price may look a little "high", but when you break it all out, it is VERY affordable. Especially for what you get. Really can't say enough great things about FOF, John, and Camile.
Start to finish, Feasts of Fancy was responsive and accommodating. I had absolutely no doubt that on my wedding day things would run smoothly- and it was a dream!
I can be very opinionated and felt easily stressed by the process of planning my wedding. Their staff felt like friends and it felt like they genuinely had my best interest at heart.
The location is beautifully rustic and was the courtyard was a dream in the October weather. I would choose Feasts of Fancy again in a heartbeat and I have not even mentioned their incredible catering!
This was a wonderful experience . We had to move the wedding , because of Covid. Feasts of Fancy , and Vicki guided us with their vendors through the entire process. The food was top notch, and the venue , and courtyard were beautiful. If you don't want to worry about your event. Go with Feasts of Fancy. They take the worry , and stress out. The staff is professional , and all of the guests gave compliments about the entire night. Thanks again . Kim Owens
We had a wonderful experience with Feasts of Fancy! From the building aesthetics to the support from our coordinator to the food, everything went great. Wedding food rarely wows me, and I absolutely loved ours — as did so many of our guests, who took the time to tell us how much they enjoyed it. Our coordinator, Camille, made the process easy by being laid back and approachable while also very organized. It really was the perfect day, and my husband and I are so grateful to the FoF staff for everything they did to make it happen!
Our wedding day was a dream, in large part due to Camille and the whole staff at The Hobbs Building. She communicated throughout the whole planning phase and went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable with every piece of the process. The food was amazing, the space transformed easily to fit out vision, and the schedule was followed perfectly. We received so many compliments from guests on everything about The Hobbs. I absolutely recommend them for any couple searching for the perfect venue.
The food was beyond amazing! Camille was great to work with and went above and beyond to make sure our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner went smoothly. The staff was personable and helped in places we didn't expect. I would recommend this venue for anyone looking for an event space.
When we first walked in, we sensed the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. John gave us a thorough tour, answering all of our questions. Our coordinator, Dana, was meticulous with details and communicated clearly and in a timely manner. She was a great resource to us as we were planning the reception. She gave us honest feedback about timelines, ideas, and menus. She truly understood our vision and ensured it would come to life. She made the entire process fun and stress-free. She coordinated everything among our vendors flawlessly. We never worried about anything, because we knew Dana had it handled.
As for the space, it's super cool. Rustic and charming, and can be made more urban chic or more farmhouse-like, depending on your taste. It really doesn't need much decor added to it. The courtyard is large and shaded. We ended up tenting it and put our band out there - plenty of room for a dance floor and tables for our 225 guests.
The food is fantastic! So many menu options. The tastings were a great way to sample items we were considering, as well as an opportunity to see Dana and ask any questions we had.
A bonus, too, is that you provide your own alcohol, which can be a big cost savings.
The evening of our reception, Dana was everywhere, attending to everything, making sure everyone was taken care of. And she did it all in such a calm manner - a true professional.
I cannot think of one thing that Dana and Feast of Fancy could have done to make the experience better. Everything was perfect!!
My daughter's wedding was 6/2/18. The reception was held at The Hobbs Building. Can't say enough about how wonderful everything about our experience was. Dana Sterner is the best! She was very flexible and easy to work with. SO MANY guests commented on how good the food was. We used both the courtyard and inside space for the reception. Only thing to keep in mind is that you may need to rent a tent for the courtyard if weather doesn't cooperate. Highly recommend this venue and catering.
I truly cant say enough great things about The Hobbs building and their staff. I worked with Dana on my wedding and she was professional, attentive, and personable...flat out she was awesome. I have gotten so many compliments on the food after our event as well!! Everything was delicious. We were so happy with everything, the entire experience of the venue was beyond what we could have imagined and I know it was because the staff and management at The Hobbs knocked it out of the park for us. Food, ambiance, hospitality....you get the whole package here!!!
We recently hosted the reception for my daughter's wedding with Feasts of Fancy at The Hobbs Building. This is a wonderful group to work with and Dana did an outstanding job for us. Our guests raved about the venue and the food. The staff took care of even the tiniest details and allowed us to enjoy our daughter's reception to the fullest. I can't imagine planning this event without Dana by my side. If you are looking for a beautiful venue, delicious food, professional staff and just generally nice people, then look no further than Feasts of Fancy at The Hobbs Building.
The second I walked into Feast of Fancy, I knew I wanted to get married there. The whole team makes you feel so comfortable and at ease. They are ready to hear your ideas or offer any help or suggestions. My wedding was perfect and I did not have to worry about anything after booking here. They know their craft and I would book them again in a heartbeat!
the team at Feasts of Fancy was so kind and helpful during the planning process of our big day. Dana was a joy to work with and handled any question, concern, or last minute change to detail with the utmost professionalism. All of our guests were in love with with this indoor/outdoor venue and it's modern/rustic vibe
The Hobbs building was one of my biggest concerns (it is a totally blank slate) but it turned out to be a great choice! We were intrigued by the space and chose it because of it's ability to be transformed to our vision, which was done by the flowers, decoration, and rentals (Branches and Twigs!). Also, John was a great, honest, fun salesman/tour guide from the initial walkthrough and was present throughout the planning process. They require you to use Feasts of Fancy catering which is a good thing for several reasons: the food is excellent, it's one less choice you have to make, and they host several tastings to try the food, view the space, and meet more of their staff. Vickie was our site coordinator and was very nice throughout the process as well helpful working with several of our other vendors to coordinate the space, timing, and flow of the wedding night. The location worked well since we had our ceremony and hotels located downtown. Thank you Hobbs!!
We used Feasts of Fancy for our October 1, 2016 based on the recommendation of a close friend, and our friend did not steer us wrong!
We worked directly with Dana at Feasts of Fancy regarding all of the details of our menu. Let me just say, Dana is beyond wonderful to work with. She is responsive, professional, and instantly captured our vision. We wanted to do food stations with three unique themes: Modern American, Latin and Southern Comfort Foods. Dana and her team came up with the most inventive and delicious menu. Our guests raved about our food, especially the shrimp and cheesy grits, and were impressed by the presentation of appetizers during cocktail and the food stations.
We also felt very well taken care of during our wedding by the Feasts of Fancy staff. They approached my husband and I to make sure that we had everything we needed – they were so wonderful. If you're looking for a caterer, Feasts of Fancy is certainly up for the job. We can't thank you enough for all of your hard work. The food at our wedding was truly amazing!
WHY ARENT THERE MORE STARS TO GIVE OUT!!!! They told me my wedding would never be perfect! WRONG! It was. The Hobbs was amazing. It was truly a dream come true. From the amazingly unique space, to Dana who is the best resource and planner, the whole thing was perfect. I could not have asked for a better space. BUTTTTT the best part is that they are known for their food. I had so many people tell me that it was the best, not just wedding food, but food in general that they had ever had. They worked with me and the groom to make a customized menu. The space is yours to make it your dream wedding. I could never say enough about it. You would be silly to get married anywhere else. THANK YOU !!!!
My husband and I held both our ceremony and reception at Feasts of Fancy at the Hobbs, along with a courtyard cocktail hour. We loved EVERYTHING about this venue!! From the moment we booked with Feasts of Fancy, Dana was in touch to make sure our wedding day would be the perfect fit for the two of us. She was amazing to work with and was in constant communication. The venue itself is gorgeous (both inside and outside in the courtyard) and has a perfect charming urban feel. The staff are easy to work with and very kind, and the food is just unbelievable. Our guests still comment how much they loved the food! We are both so grateful we chose to go with Feasts of Fancy and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing wedding venue/experience in urban Kansas City!
We are so happy we went with Feasts of Fancy as both our caterer and reception venue location at the Hobbs Building. Everything went extremely smooth - from booking the venue with John to planning all of the details with Vicki. The day of everything went perfectly and smooth and it was in large thanks to Vicki and the rest of the staff. Thank you for making our special day perfect!!
We held our ceremony & reception at the Hobbs building and it was absolutely perfect. The venue is stunning and perfect for a vintage themed wedding. They provide a coordinator, which was extremely helpful for determining layout, food selection & suggesting vendors. The food was so delicious, and everyone raved about it the next day. The only downside would be the pillars (which is also what gives it character), so when your guests are seated not everyone can see what's going on on the dance floor. The venue is definitely pricey compared to comparable options in KC, but it was perfect for what I wanted!
We are so appreciative to this venue for making our day so special!! From the coordinating to the food to the service everything was excellent!! The people were great to work with and the staff on the night of the wedding were phenomenal! Cheers to this great spot in KC!!
We had a winter wedding here and it was fabulous. The staff from the start to finish were great! My guests are still talking about the ambiance and the food! The wait staff, bar staff and food staff are outstanding!!! Everything went off without a hitch!!! This place really is fabulous!! Thank you to John and Dana and everyone else behind the scenes! HIGHLY Recommend :)
The Hobbs is the best indoor/outdoor wedding space in Kansas City! Very "Brooklyn chic." Guests continuously commented that they felt like they weren't in Kansas City and that it's a total hidden gem. Not only is the physical space beautiful, elegant, unique and adaptable but also the staff is incredible. Feasts of Fancy, the caterers and owners of the Hobbs, have hands-down the best catering chefs and servers in the area (and this is coming from a foodie!). Dana, a senior planner and coordinator for the space, is fantastic. Professional, thoughtful and able to execute a vision flawlessly. I HIGHLY recommend The Hobbs to any bride who is looking for a classic, chic and fun space! A++++!
The most versatile venue in Kansas City. The outdoor courtyard provides such flexibility for accommodating guests and creating a relaxing, fun conversation space. The interior with its floor to ceiling wall of windows, wide-planked hardwood floors, and canopy of lights is both expansive and intimate. Feasts of Fancy's catering was exceptional. They worked with us to fine-tune family favorites and develop an overall menu that satisfied a multitude of guests. They were also very respectful of our interest in locally sourced produce and protein. The entire team at The Hobbs was professional and so easy to work with from day one. The ability to separately cater the alcohol made this much more affordable than other venues as well. Staff were so helpful and efficient during the reception - food stations were always replenished, bars were well tended, trash and empty plates and glasses were instantly removed, and bathrooms were sparkling.
The moment my (then) fiancé and I saw the Hobbs Building, we were hooked. It even determined our wedding date (crazy, I know), and I have to say - it was completely worth it!
The venue itself is charming, with the warmth of vintage hardwood columns and floors, an all-brick courtyard, and the perk of being in an urban setting, which is a decorator's dream. The restrooms are impeccable, too, which is definitely a must!
My husband and I are both big foodies, as are most of our family and friends, and everyone was impressed by the quality of the food (some friends said it was the best catered meal they've had in KC!). This was our #2 priority for the wedding, and we did not go wrong. The selection of appetizers, entrées, and sides were all fantastic and delicious. While it made for a hard couple of decisions, but once we'd determined a menu, we were both completely happy. (Don't pass on the Asian meatballs! We only got one each and they were gone before we could ask for more!!)
The only caveat that we would offer is that the planner we worked with seemed more concerned with her priorities than ours. We both work long hours and travel 80% for work, and the Feasts of Fancy staff has pretty limited availability after hours and none on weekends. Perhaps this is something we should've foreseen, but it made coordinating our meetings more of a burden than we would have liked. We also had more back-and-forth regarding the process than we thought we should've (just lacking clarity around expectations of our menu tasting, etc.). That being said, it was still a great overall experience. We happened to choose other vendors (AMAZING! see: Sidelines KC, Lisa Forbes at Simple Elegance, and Holmes Music World) that made the entire process infinitely easier. The day of our wedding went off without a single hiccup. We had a fantastic party, and that was exactly what we wanted!
Ultimately, this was the perfect choice for us, particularly with the quality of food. One additional perk for us was that we could buy and bring in our own alcohol (again, with the foodies, having a particular selection for both liquors and wine was a major must-have). We both give a solid recommendation for Feasts of Fancy (as a caterer alone) and the Hobbs Building (as a venue and caterer). They offered the quality of food and the gorgeous, flexible space that we were looking for to make our wedding everything that we wanted. And it was!! You won't go wrong with Feasts of Fancy.
Everything about Feasts of Fancy was incredible!
When I called to request information about the event space, I spoke with John Perkins, who helped me through everything from cost to seating to food options. After seeing the venue and meeting with John in person, there was no doubt in our minds that Feasts of Fancy and the Hobbs Building was where we wanted our reception. And that was only the beginning of how great my whole experience was.
After the initial question and contract stage, I worked with Dana Sterner, who answered every question I had in a timely and professional manner. She helped organize the vendors and timing, as well as gave suggestions from her past experience. Being out of town was a little difficult for planning, but Dana made it so easy!
During the tasting, our decision was cemented even more. The.food.is.amazing! We were able to make a couple preferential suggestions, which were accepted with no problem.
The day of our reception, everything looked incredible! Many of our guests spoke very highly of the uniqueness, cleanliness and professionalism of all the staff.
I have nothing but praise to express about my experience with Feasts of Fancy and its staff. Our wedding would not have been the same without their help and expertise.
We can't begin to say enough about what a wonderful experience is was to have our daughter's wedding at the Hobbs Building/Feast of Fancy. From the initial meeting with Dana Sterner to the actual wedding day, everyone associated with this venue was attentive, helpful and accommodating. The venue looked amazing and had the rustic industrial feel that our daughter and her fiancé were looking for and was a warm and inviting venue for their special day. Dana was so organized and communicated with us so well throughout the whole planning process, which was especially difficult since my daughter was out of state. She coordinated timing with all of the vendors which was a huge help and stress reliever. We were able to set up in advance and the staff even helped us clean up and load our cars, going the extra mile every step of the way. The food was absolutely delicious and we heard rave reviews from many of our guests! The buffet and food presentation was beautiful as well. The entire staff was delightful to work with and made our daughter and son-in-laws’ wedding day very memorable and stress free. We would not hesitate to recommend the Hobbs/Feast of Fancy for your wedding or special event!
I LOVED the Hobb's building. This unique space was perfect for me. I didn't want a stuffy vibe for my wedding day. The rustic feel, was so charming! The reason I did not give this venue a 5, is because the event coordinator there could not remember any of my details... I am lucky to have had hired a day of coordinator, because she was able to make sure my details were taking care of.
Everyone at our wedding loved the food. They can do any type of menu you want and the quality is very high. The staff is extremely professional!
We had our wedding at The Hobbs on October 20, 2012. We worked with Dana, she was so sweet and easy to work with. She is very detail oriented and she made sure to understand our vision. My guests were amazed at the beauty and elegance of the building! The food was superb! We could not have had a better experience!
We got married at the Hobbs Building and therefore had Feasts of Fancy cater our dinner. We are still hearing compliments from our guests on how stylish everything was and our food was truly delicious. Dana, our Event Coordinator from Feasts, was professional, flexible, and a sweetheart. She worked within our budget in every way. The night of our wedding, I had no worries about the schedule of events or anything related to the venue and/or food. Wouldn't change a thing!
Feasts of Fancy and the Hobbs Building were fantastic for our wedding! Gail went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, the staff day-of were so professional and organized, and the FOOD! We have received so many compliments about our pescetarian menu! They will cater to anything: celiacs, vegan, dairy free.. The venue is beautiful and was exactly what we as designers were looking for. Some people were concerned about the location being in the West Bottoms but we never felt unsafe and FOF provides 2 police officers to watch the parking lot and doors the entire time just in case. Book well in advance because they are very popular!
The location was gorgeous, the staff was so easy to work with. Everything was perfect!
FOF was easy to stay in touch with and timely with their responses. The food was incredible, and guests were raving about it the next day. They were able to work with us and design a menu based on our favorite foods and type of guests. They set up things perfectly that night and the service was great. We had 250 people at our reception, and provided hors d'oeurves, a buffet dinner, coffee and late night sliders and potatoes.
The title of my review sums up my experience with FEAST OF FANCY at the HOBBS Building. From the very first time we saw this venue we were excited about the possibilties this spot could provide. And it did not disappoint. The knowledge of the staff as well as the correspondence with us was first rate. All along the process our suggestions/ideas were incorporated into the ceremony and the end result far exceeded our expectations and our expectations were very high. Everybody who attended the wedding commented on how good the food was and it was outstanding. The reception area and patio looked stunning.
While the facilty is a little off the beaten path the end result was fantastic. They do have a strict 12:00 curfew that if not in force we would have gone alot longer. It has been two months since the wedding and the positive comments are still coming in.
As a Father of the Bride I was particularly impressed withthe quality of the staff and they all served with a smile which added to the experience. It was an excellent choice.
There was little question where my husband and I would get married after our visit to The Hobbs. We instantly fell in love with the building, staff and ambiance. The value was an initial shock, but worth everything and more. The staff was incredibly attentive and our fall menu was perfect. Guests specifically raved about the butternut squash soup. Jacque was a dream come true to work with. She was incredibly helpful, attentive and non-authoritative (a must quality for my husband). The day of our wedding was perfect. The Hobbs worked seamlessly in conjunction with our planner. The only issue all day was an aggressive waitress, which was promptly remedied. In the end, if you are looking for a unique venue that can provide an intimate ceremony that will transition to a flawless reception, Feasts of Fancy and The Hobbs Building is superb.
We hosted our October reception at Feasts of Fancy. I must say that we were blown away by the service, food and room. We started by sitting down with the event director who explained "the ropes" to us.. including where to start and what our estimated costs would be. We received a wonderful tour and lots of information before we made a final decision. It was not difficult...after touring three other locations this place blows the others out of the water!
The event director is more like a wedding planner that takes care of every detail including communicating the entire evening with all vendors and staff. Almost every guest at our receptions made a comment about how good the food was and of course, the professional service. My family continues to email each other trying to figure out how to make some of the delicious appetizers and menu items.
We loved the venue...a very urban but elegant space in the West Bottoms...easy to get to and great secured parking. We kept hearing from guests, "how did you find this place? it is so cool!"
You can't go wrong with this location for a ceremony, reception or event!
Our reception in November of 2010 was the most amazing party and we owe it all to Feasts of Fancy! The food was the most talked about topic of the evening and many weeks after. We worked with Jacque specifically and she made our wedding planning more than easy....she is an amazing person to work with! Thank you Feasts of Fancy; we wish we could have a party once a year at your venue with your amazing food! -Nate & Dina Blevins
We had our wedding at the Hobbs Building on October 23, 2010 and we could not have been more pleased with how everything turned out. While the event space is what some would consider “off the beaten path”, it was part of the allure for us when we chose to have our wedding there because when you step inside, it is like finding a hidden treasure. The Feasts of Fancy staff were incredibly helpful during the entire planning process. We worked closely with them on all our wedding details and chose most of our vendors from their list of recommendations, which were all fabulous. The Hobbs building was a perfect venue for wedding because we wanted it to be intimate but big enough to hold our 220 guests. We had our ceremony in the outdoor courtyard (and we were very lucky to have amazing weather!) and then moved into the main space for the reception. After the ceremony, the courtyard turned into a space where a lot of our guests hung out to take a breather from all the dancing that went on. It was great because everyone found a place for them to enjoy the evening but it still had a very intimate feel. Feats of Fancy did an amazing job with the food, which was very important to us. We opted for the buffet and it was amazing – all the food tasted extremely fresh and incredibly delicious. A few highlights from our menu include beef tenderloin with the jack daniels sauce, the spicy and sweet cheese torte with homemade lavosh, and the amazing mashed sweet potatoes. It was hard to pick favorites because all the food was so delicious. Our guests are still commenting on how that was the best wedding food they have ever had! You have to bring in your own alcohol for the bar but that gave us a unique opportunity to hand select the wine and alcohol to serve. Again, we used a recommendation Feasts of Fancy gave us and it turned out really well. There really were no negatives about the Hobbs Building but one thing it is really important to point out is that it can be extremely difficult to find even for the most experienced Kansas City drivers. We offered shuttles to and from the hotel throughout the night which really helped out and for those that drove, we included very specific directions in the invitations. No one had too much of a problem given all of those resources, which is good. All in all, we were incredibly pleased with our wedding at the Hobbs Building and the Feasts of Fancy staff. They helped us put together the most amazing night!
