1) She will ask people to do things for your wedding that most brides would not feel comfortable asking but are either necessary or practical. She is... your representative.
2) If a problem arises, and they do, she will have it taken care of by the end of the work day (or as soon as possible).
3) Sara does the heavy logistical work - phone calls, vendor research, price comparisons, trips to Michaels/Costco, etc. This is the stuff that will drive a bride crazy - there is simply too much to think about.
4) She is organized (relatively). I have a theory that all event planners work best under pressure so they leave everything until the last minute. Sara is generally ahead of the game, keeps records of everything, copies you on emails. My only criticism is that occasionally she takes a while to respond to emails, but that is the nature of a 24/7 job - it is simply impossible to keep up with the volume of communication, and she clearly does her best.

THIS is what will truly drive the bride to the crazy house. So when I got asked questions, a lot of times I could respond, "I don't know, Sara is taking care of that." Then if someone doesn't like the choice I made, I could say Sara had insisted and they could talk to her if they wanted something changed. This is a service in and of itself.
Other comments: I was hesitant to hire a wedding planner because I am very organized and thought I could do it myself. Well as all weddings seem to go, ours turned out to be a bigger event than I had planned, so I needed to be super organized AND have a wedding planner. I liked Sara because she is young, and not tied to tradition (unless you want her to be, as I did in many ways). She had fun, fresh ideas and was also very nice when I decided not to use all of them. But her ideas that we did implement, which were many, were awesome and added personal touches to our wedding that I could only have dreamed about. Having her to think of the many logistical details AND come up with the cute personal touches made our wedding not only run smoothly, it also was very special and unique. I could not have pulled that off without her. And to top it off, I was sick as a dog the two weeks leading up to the wedding. She came to my house four times that week to pick up the pieces and help me get through it (even brought me lunch!) I was able to hand off the entire affair to her so I could get better and that turned out to be the best part - I could actually relax!
