After using Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists and knowing the work Marissa Gonzales, the Manager & Restoration Specialist could do, I decided to drag out my 44 year old never cleaned wedding gown in its old zippered vinyl bag from storage and head to Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists in hopes they
could make it look decent. The Manager, Marissa Gonzales, is just fantastic! Very friendly, very professional, experienced and proficient. When I would come across my gown in storage, I would wonder why I ever thought it was pretty. So, now thinking of taking it apart to make items for a wedding, communion, baptismal, or craft; I dropped it off to be cleaned but not boxed for long term protection. I wish I could do a before/after but I neglected to take pics of the 'before'. After cleaning, Marissa brought it out and I nearly cried. Wow, my gown looked wonderful!! I loved it all over again. So, my plans have now changed a bit. I've decided not to split it into parts but to have it boxed and let someone else choose to wear it. I definitely am thrilled with the work Marissa has done. I have gone to Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists three times in the past couple of years and plan to use them again soon. My first experience with Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists was not with a wedding gown but a 55 year old baptismal gown from a family member. I had cleaned it myself 25 years ago and thought I had done a great job. LOL. However, the aging of the gown made me search out an expert- that's Marissa Gonzales, the Manager & Restoration Specialist at Five Star. Wonderful, friendly, and professional individual. She looked it over and was so excited to be able to work with the restoration of this satin & lace hand sewn gown. It was ready when promised. I picked it up from Five Star - total shock! Instead of bringing out an off white gown, Marissa presented me with this gorgeous white baptismal gown! I actually said to her, "I don't think this is my gown. I think you've brought out the wrong one". Surprised she did a double take then laughed and reassured me it was mine. We were so much more than pleased with the outcome. After the baptismal, I've had it re-cleaned, stored in protective box, and returned to the original owner so now it's ready for the next baby to use.

Had an absolutely amazing experience with the alterations of my wedding dress! The 3 ladies who work in the shop are great to work with and are willing to spend time to make you vision work and answer any questions. My dress alterations and bustle was beautifully done. They went the extra mile to write out and draw instructions for the bustle which was so helpful. Definitely will recommend using this business for any gown alterations!!

Great service, found them on the knot, they were able to clean and preserve my wife’s black dress. They were exceptional and kept in contact with me the whole way!
The ladies here are fantastic and very reasonable, I didnt feel like I was getting pressured to spend money unnecessarily and that I HAD to use them. Having run into multiple seamstresses that stressed how much they are a perfectionist and how much time they'll need and extra costs, it was a breath of relief to find a place that was laid back but also knew exactly what they were doing. They were very pleasant to work with and would recommend them to anyone.

My wedding is next year, but I wanted to use my moms gown from 1983. It's changed colors over time sitting in a wedding bag for 40year. I didn't think that much could be done. Well I think the ladies here at Five Star checked off on of the most important things on my list because my moms gown looks fantastic after the restoration cleaning!

Phenomenal job cleaning my grandmother's 1936 gown and my back up white pant gown. They even had it ready early for my needs on top of an endless line of requests!
I WILL RECOMMEND UNTIL THE END IF TIME. I bought a sample sale dress which had a reasonable amount of dirt along the train and was fairly dingy from being tried on so many times in the show room. The dress has fringe on it so no cleaner in the entire city of austin would touch it. I took it to five star in a bind with only 1.5 weeks until my wedding and they saved my butt!!!!! They made it look BRAND NEW and rushed it to get it done in time. They had clean everything which no one else does!! They literally saved my wedding and I would recommend them over and over again!!! Cannot thank them enough for this big save. 15/10!!!!

What an eye for fit and talent to bring it to life! These ladies were friendly and quick. I lost 30 lbs and needed the whole top of my dress redone. The BEST for Bridal alterations! I live in Austin & found them online after researching alterations in both Austin and San Antonio. I had gone to several other top reviewed alteration places before coming here. I knew after the 1st consultation with Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists that they could get my dresses to look EXACTLY like I wanted and that the drive would be worth it.
I had 2 bridal dresses done with them and they both were completed perfectly! I wanted to use my mother’s dress for walking down the aisle of the church and my 1st dance and I had found a 2nd dress for a good bargain that I wanted to use for the reception party time. My mom’s dress was complex because it didn’t fit me (my mom was a size 4-6 and I’m a size 10), it was a bit discolored since it was about 35 years old, and I wanted a different neckline (the original neckline when all the way up like a turtleneck).
First, they restored my mom’s dress back to its original bright off-white color by using all organic ingredients. Then, they took the material from the original sleeves to make the back of the dress bigger so that it would zip. Finally, for the fun part! We reconstructed the neckline and sleeves with new tulle and her original applique peices to create the most beautiful and perfect wedding dress ever! They added a bustle and even added more tulle to my petticoat to make my dress even more full - just like a princess. I LOVE it!
They were even able to customize my veil by sewing my cathedral veil with my mom’s blusher. This came out perfect.
For the 2nd dress, they altered the cap sleeves to tank sleeves (about 2” wide) so that I would be able to fully move my arms around comfortably on the dance floor. They sewed a beautiful hemline that was perfect for dancing and I feel like a movie star when I have this dress on!
It’s amazing! The women that work here truly work magic!! The drive from Austin was completely worth it and they can schedule fittings far in advanced so you can plan your trips. They also try their best to minimize the number of fittings so that when you come in it’s focused and the time is productive. I am so blessed to have found them and will recommend them to all of my friends.

I'm a petite woman 5'5" and so my dress needed major alterations. I already knew my dress was two sizes to big and the lace hem needed to be taken up 6". I had gone to a few places that charge for their consultations but when I arrived at Five Star I was told their consultations are free and when I spoke with Julie she put me at ease. She is fantastic and told me it was no problem. I pick up my dress and it fit so perfect. Can't wait to walk down the aisle!
I'm not a bride, but a maide of honor. My bride is a customer of Five Star and she sent me to them to do my alteration. I had a baby 3 months before the wedding, I haven't bounced back fully, but time is ticking. I told the staff and they helped me sooo much even though they were so busy! WOW! Incredible job. They cleaned my dress and made it just like new. I seriously cannot believe they made my dress so clean after all the spills and stains it endured during the wedding. The bottom of my dress was COMPLETELY black by the end of the night, but after it was cleaned it looked totally new! They fixed holes, broken bustles, snagged lace, EVERYTHING! This place was more expensive than other places we looked up, but it had just such outstanding reviews, we wanted to give it a shot. We are so happy we had it cleaned and preserved with them because they did such a thorough job. I am so happy we get to keep my dress looking nice forever!! The process took about 2 months in full, which was longer than I expected. Overall, amazing job! I would highly recommend them!
We chose Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists for my daughters wedding gown. It didn't fit right and they did a great job. Julie made it look like it was made for her. She also did my alterations as MOB. She did a super job on mine too she is an artist when it comes to alterations. The staff has a wonderful attitude. They were able to turn it from a long-sleeved dress to a short-sleeved dress, transformed the bustle to be more accommodating and made a much shorter train. I didn't deal with Five Star directly, but my now Mother-in-Law and Sister-in Law did. My dress was quite wrinkled up to the day before my wedding, and my MIL and SIL had both spent hours trying to steam the wrinkles out. The owner of Five Star worked with them, and found a way to get my wedding dress perfect....THE DAY OF MY WEDDING!!! I cannot tell you how thankful I am for your dedication to making every bride's day so special. Because of you, my dress was even more perfect than I could have ever imagined! The best thing I ever did for my wedding gown was take it to the ladies at Five Star Wedding Gown. From consultation to picking up the finished product, it was a very pleasant experience. They were very responsive to my requests and very attentive to my needs. The money I spent was well worth every penny to have my gown absolutely perfect for my wedding day. I went to Five Star Wedding Gown to have my dress altered for my wedding. I regularly go to the Five Star Cleaners on Huebner Rd., so I was already very familiar with the work they do. I had been super pleased with all of the alterations I have had done over the years, so I thought I trusted them with my wedding dress. I was not disappointed! My dress was absolutely perfect when it was completed and was done with plenty of time to spare. I will definitely be going back there to have my dress preserved. Thank you, ladies!

This place is run by a squad of ultra-patient fairy godmothers. I changed my mind the whole time my dress was being altered. The top of my dress was sheer with heavy beading covering all of the important parts, but out of concern for a potential wardrobe malfunction, I asked them to add a lining, which I then decided I didn't like anymore and had them take it back out. I added a bustle, then didn't want a bustle, then decided I needed the buste. I also decided last minute to change dresses completely for the reception. Honestly, I was pretty irritated with myself, but if they were, it never showed for a minute. They were so sweet and understanding and accommodating from the start to the finish. Veronica in particular was great to work with. Any time I called and gave my name, she knew exactly who I was, which dress was mine, and what the status was. Maybe it's because I was such a pain, but I like to think it's because she's super attentive to each and every bride. I highly recommend them!
I am so very impressed with the work that I had done at Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists. I called them a few months away from my wedding day and needed some last-minute alterations. I almost just let the dress be as it was, a little loosey-goosey, but I figured I would at least try to see if they could help me out. Marissa and Veronica were wonderful to work with and the seamstress had my dress perfectly fixed up in no time! I am so happy I decided to call and I was just thrilled they made my gown actually fit me for my big day.
I went to Five Star Wedding Gown to have my dress clean and pressed after getting it super dirty after my bridal portraits. It came back good as new and I will be using them again in the future to have my gown preserved!
I used Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists to have my wedding gown altered for my wedding day. The train was too long. I ended wanting to shorten the sleeves. It also was a tad too big. They were able to do all of those things BEAUTIFULLY! The dress was just perfect and I could not be any happier. Thank you, ladies!
Five Star Wedding Gown is the absolute best and they know exactly what they are doing! I was so very impressed with my alterations and clean/press for my wedding day that I went back to them to have my gown preserved. I highly recommend them!
I utilized Five Star Wedding Gown to alter my gown significantly before my wedding. The gown that I fell in love with was a tad too big and I did not want to look like I was swimming in the gown for my wedding day. The train was also a tad too long for my taste, so that needed some adjustments too. The dress came out PERFECTLY and fit like a glove for my wedding in June. I went to Five Star Wedding Gown to get my wedding gown preserved after my wedding this past May. I wanted to be sure I could have it for my future children to see/wear if they so choose. The consultation was painless and the staff made me feel right at home. I felt comfortable leaving my gown with them. You get to see your gown before they get it in the big white box, so that is awesome. When I got the call that it was all boxed up and ready to take home, I nearly cried. It was all so perfect and I am so happy I have this treasure for generations to come.
I decided to go to Five Star Wedding Gown to have my dress altered as well as clean and pressed. The price was reasonable and they had it all ready to go in a short amount of time. I was treated with the utmost respect and trusted them with my gown. I was super pleased with all of their services and I would recommend them to anyone!
Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists did a fabulous job on my gown preservation and it was a very pleasant experience. After my initial consultation, I felt super comfortable leaving my gown with them. They called me when it was time to come see it to be sure it was perfect before they boxed it up! It was just beautiful. It comes in a beautiful box with your own set of white gloves too. I love all of those little details to make sure our gown stays perfect forever.
Hands-down THE best place to go to in San Antonio to have anything done to your gown! I couldn’t have been any more pleased with the ridiculous amount of work they did on my gown! They basically had to re-design the whole thing and it came out better than I could have ever imagined. I also had it cleaned and pressed after my bridal portraits. I will be going there to have my gown preserved next year too. Thank you, ladies, for everything!!

I did my research before choosing a place to take my wedding dress to for alterations. I was willing to pay as long as they did a great job and this place was the best rated. I took my dress for alterations and at the final fitting still had a large gap between my breast and dress they said they couldn't do anything more. My 90-yr old grandmother had to fix it the night before my wedding. I was disappointed they couldn't do what took her 10 minutes to fix after paying $600+ for alterations. I took my dress there again to be cleaned. They did a subpar job of cleaning and made me pay $200 prior to seeing the final result, and then requested another $300 even though the stain was not out. When I asked to speak with the owner she was out of town for 3 months and they couldn't help me. This was not the experience a bride hopes for. So now I'm out $200+ and my wedding dress because I can't justify paying the $300 when they weren't able to successfully clean my dress or provide good customer service. Please avoid this chain and take your items elsewhere.

I feel it was important that I personally take the time to respond to your review. I have had the pleasure of assisting in your alteration fitting appointments. I was also present for the inspection of your wedding gown after the cleaning was completed. As a business manager for over a decade I find being transparent is the best service I can provide. We are 100% up front, accountable and take personal as well as professional pride in the work we provide. Each and every gown we service has an invoice you sign and are given a copy of stating the services provided and dress inspection. At no point was I under the impression you were unhappy with your gown alteration in 10/2016. It was only brought up to my attention after you were asked to pay your remaining balance on the gown on cleaning pick up 2/ 06/17. I have tried to reach out to you with no response; we then get a call from the Culebra location that if we did not meet your demands of waving your $278.88 you will be forced to write a slew of bad reviews against our company. I have to stand by our process and the exceptional work we provided you and unfortunately can not agree. Given the opportunity I would have tried to resolve any issues you may have had with alterations. Lets begin with your alterations, you did not pay “$600.00 +” for alterations you paid exactly $495.00 plus tax= $535.84. The cleaning of your gown is an entirely different type of work; you dropped your wedding gown off 11/02/2016 at Five Star Cleaners on Culebra Rd. They then send me your gown with your signed invoice and a quote that is provided to you before you sign in agreement. Your cleaning quote is $350.00 plus tax = $378.88 with every gown we ask for a deposit; you stated you were forced to pay $200.00. This is inaccurate you placed only $100 deposit on your gown cleaning. . Please feel free to contact me directly; if you feel we can resolve this matter reasonably. I had a wonderful experience at Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists and I wanted to be sure to share that. I went there to have my wedding gown preserved and was pretty apprehensive to leave my gown with just anyone. After my first consultation, I was feeling super confident leaving my gown with them. When it was ready a few weeks later, it was as if someone had literally taken my gown inch by inch and made it perfect. Come to find out, that is exactly what they do there! Talk about attention to detail. My gown was perfect and I am so pleased to have it preserved for my future children and grandchildren.
