My husband and his family had been going to Van Brunts for years for everything from proms to funerals and even another wedding a couple years ago, so when it came to picking our wedding flowers, there was no question that we would go with them. I should have checked more reviews beforehand and followed my gut. During the two appointments I had with Frank (one with my mother in law and husband and one just on my own with him), I was treated as an inconvenience and as if my business was not wanted. Frank measured my head for a bridal flower crown only to have measured the wrong part of my head, so I had him do it again. On the day of my wedding, the flower crown was outrageously big (big as in style; not a bridal flower crown-it looked like something for a little girl) and it was still too small for my head. The sad part is, I had a plan B because I had a feeling it wouldn’t be what I envisioned seeing as Frank didn’t ask any questions about what I was wanting. My bridal bouquet, while lovely, had flowers falling out of it by the time we were doing our exit from the ceremony. These issues were nicely brought to Frank’s attention after the fact with no offers of a refund or making things right. My husband’s family has gone to you for years and we hand over hundreds of dollars for a few basic bouquets and bouts and you can’t offer any sort of resolution? Many of these issues could have been avoided if a) Frank actually took the time to ask us about our vision, show us some photos/samples of our wedding flowers and b) if he put quality/care into customer service and his product in general. From my point of view, it seems he exploited the fact that he has a long-standing business relationship with my in-laws and assumes their loyalty will blind them to poor treatment/quality. Even they agree the quality of Van Brunt’s work is just “okay” for the price. While Frank and his team produced lovely flowers, there were some clear issues that cannot be overlooked. I will not be returning my business to Van Brunt’s if only for the fact that he made me uncomfortable and unable to communicate my preferences/needs.
I had very mixed feelings about this company. I originally picked them because they never tried to up-sell me. The prices they quoted were the lowest of all of the vendors that were recommended to me by my venue. However, I was very annoyed by communication difficulties. They are unresponsive to emails, and I had to call on days when my specific contact was working. I was actually told that the other people working there do not have any information and can't take payments, etc. for another person's clients. I was baffled since my other wedding vendors never had these issues. I could also tell that they were not loving my vision for centerpieces, and I had to insist on what I wanted. So needless to say, I was super nervous on the day of my wedding about this vendor. However, I was PLEASANTLY surprised. The flowers were beautiful and looked far more expensive than what I spent. I had made a decision early on to spend less on flowers and more on other things, but our guests could not tell. Our arch was full and lush, and our centerpieces were beautiful. So beware... you will probably get a good product, but customer service is not their best trait.
I went to the florist VERY last minute (so many other things to pay attention to when it comes to a wedding!) and Van Brunt could not have been more helpful. I know very little about flowers; all I knew is I wanted something fall-like as we were getting married in October. I showed them some photos from Pinterest, the color of my bridesmaids dresses, and told them to run with it, and they ended up putting together the most beautiful bouquets for me and my bridesmaids. My bridesmaids' bouquets even included sunflowers, which were just so beautiful. The corsages were gorgeous, too. Everything stayed fresh throughout, into the brunch the following day. I highly recommend this florist for your wedding!
I payed 100$ for a cheap looking flower arrangement! I got to dinner where I sent out the flowers and I can't explain the feeling I got when I saw it. I felt so embarrased because it looked so cheap and as if I made it at home. When I called the flower shop to ask if maybe there has been a mistake they were extremely disrespectful!! The owner said he would go to my host's home (the person I gave the flowers to) and take a look!! Isn't that disrespectful!! I will never call this people again and you shouldn't either.
Van Brunt's was so creative and created the most beautiful and unique centerpieces I have ever seen. My bouquets were all exquisite. They were very helpful and easy to work with.
Flowers stayed fresh for days, and were exactly what we discussed. Willing to meet as many times as needed until they know exactly what you are thinking.
