This venue was PERFECT. The view was amazing, the barn was beautiful and the grounds were just what we were looking for. The fall leaves were at it's peak and Rheta was helpful every step of the way. I would tell everyone if they want a beautiful Maine wedding this is your place. My friends from out of state couldn't believe how beautiful it was. I think the quote was #hallmarkmovie...
What should’ve been a 5 star wedding became a 2 star. It is due to the extreme unprofessionalism, which mainly had to do with the owners husband. The venue is beautiful, and it’s very unfortunate that I am having to write this. We started off by showing up for the rehearsal dinner and to get things set up, where we were met by NO ONE. Not a soul in sight. No signs stating where to park, so we parked close to the venue where we figured we would be. Taking a glance around, the venue was gorgeous. The scenery was breathtaking, however we just couldn't stray away from the fact that NONE of the landscaping was done (the night before the wedding) including massive piles of sand taking up the middle of the isle. The owners stated they were having issues with the landscapers, and that they would be there anytime. As we are getting the venue set up, a few of the groomsmen were unloading the only 2 kegs that were brought, with written permission from the owner that we were allowed to bring. The owners husband took it upon himself to come over, and rudely explain that “he has say on who is here and who isn’t” and that “this isn’t a bar barn”. No one had been drinking, as we were setting up for the wedding. Talk about a stale taste. Fast forward to the morning of the wedding. We show up and turns out the landscaper has some problems, so the husband took care of the field we were met with the night before. However, there was wet grass piles left all around the venue. He tried to smooth out the sand piles, which wasn’t great. Us girls showed up, ready to get our bride glammed up. Yet again, we were met at 10:30am Saturday morning to NO ONE. The wedding was at 3. Picture it, 6 girls and their beautiful bride, standing on the front door of a random persons home like trick-or-treaters, hoping someone answers the door. 5 minutes later, Rheta’s husband shows up, opens the door and stares at us. I explain that we weren’t sure where we were supposed to be getting ready, to which we were met with “there” and a point to a hall way through the kitchen. We get down the hall, which we are met with closed doors so obviously we didn’t want to just open some random woman’s bedroom doors, so I asked which room, and I got no reply. THANKFULLY, Rheta came in just in time and pointed us in the right direction. We get all of our stuff into the two rooms and bathroom that we have available to use. They were set up beautifully.
The brides mom was kind enough to set us up some snacks to have while getting ready. We were told we needed to have our stuff out of the rooms before the wedding. Didn’t think much of it, until it came time to change out of our dresses, which we and THE BRIDE had to do IN THE PARKING LOT of the reception. The facilities on premises was a small utility trailer built into a bathroom. Not handicap accessible. The night was going great, until around 7:30pm. We noticed the husband hovering, which caused people to feel creeped out and leave the dance floor. The husband decided that the 4 girls on the dance floor was too much, and proceeded to walk into the reception and turn the music off, and made sure to tell us to “tone it down”. At this point the bride was at her breaking point, so we shut the entire thing down and had it packed up at 8pm. They rented it until 11pm. Check Google reviews for more details, and don’t waste your money.
It is with a heavy heart that I write this review but I feel I must get this off my mind so another bride does not go through what my daughter & son in law did.
First let me say that Rheta was AMAZING! She was so accommodating and sweet. She had the barn beautifully decorated, as well as the outside for the ceremony. The venue itself has the most amazing view and beautiful amenities, like a swing overlooking the lake below for incredible picture opportunities.
Rheta was constantly asking what she could do to help, truly wanting to make everything perfect. Unfortunately her husband was not. He made us feel unwelcome & uncomfortable from the start of the rehearsal & through the whole wedding reception.
He lurked around every corner, badgering the wedding party about their drinking & dancing and spouting vulgarities during the rehearsal because he had to mow the lawn ( not our problem btw). He even had the audacity to go into the reception where a few bridesmaids were dancing, having a great time, not hurting anything and turned the music off. He told them he didn't like their dancing & claimed they were a liability & it was"his house". (although he gladly accepted the money that was charged for the use of the venue). All this stemming because he thought they were not of drinking age. He was so belligerent that my daughter was so upset and had had enough that shut the reception down 3 hours early.
He also badgered one of my guests about the bridesmaid ages & told her she needed to do something about them. Never once did he come to the parents to express his
concerns.
We had all safe guards covered from having the wedding insurance & designated drivers in place and all guests were of legal drinking age. If the State had come in, they would have found nothing wrong on our part.
He completely ruined my daughters special day with the undue stress that he caused her.
Let me finish by saying that if you want a place with a beautiful view & great pictures, this is most definitely the place for you. Just don't plan on having any of the typical after ceremony activities.
I am not the kind of person that wants to hurt anyone's business but he brought out the Mama bear in me & in truth, if he continues this kind of behavior at other events, then he is the one who would be the demise of any success.. Rheta I'm truly sorry for you & I wish you the best of luck but I will never recommend this place to anyone .
Any questions?
My husband and I got married at Folsome Ridge Ranch on 6/15/24 and everything was perfect! This was exactly what we dreamed our wedding would look like. The venue is a gorgeous rustic barn overlooking an incredible lake view. The owners, Rheta and Kevin, were so kind and gave us so much help! Rheta was an expert when it came to planning the decorations and flowers for the wedding. She met with me multiple times to discuss details of the wedding. We could not have done this without the help of Rheta and Kevin! We HIGHLY suggest Folsome Ridge Ranch for your beautiful Maine wedding.
What a great spot for a wedding!
The attention to detail at Folsom Ridge Ranch is nothing short of incredible. Rheta has it all together and doesn't miss a beat.
The venue is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere relaxing and you can be sure that your photos will be amazing!
I wish I could get married again.
Rheta is great at communicating and helped bring my vision to life - and even sent multiple drawings of floor plan options throughout my planning process. She had multiple floral arrangements provided that perfectly matched my theme.
