BOOK THIS VENUE - you will not regret it!! Seriously the best venue ever. My wedding was October 2024 and from start to finish the experience was phenomenal. I toured the venue with the General Manager Julie and she was just extremely genuine and takes the time to answer all your questions - and I came with a very long list. She spent over two hours with us just making us feel part of the family already. They do a themed tasting event where you can go to the lodge and experience a night as if you were a guest at the wedding. Our theme was disco cowboy and we sampled a lot of their yummy food they prepare in house that could be at your wedding. Then a dance party to follow and you can stay the night at the lodge with breakfast in the morning. How cool is that! No other venue does this. I loved the fact that you have the venue from 8am morning of your wedding until 11am the following day so you can truly enjoy your special day and not feel rushed. All the staff were ON IT. They have the operations down so well and I literally did not worry or lift a finger about anything. Alex was my coordinator and she is extremely nice, professional, patient, and was very responsive with all my emails. She always reiterated any changes or decisions I made to make sure I knew that she had them down. I made changes up until the day before my wedding and she assured that every email was answered and change was made. She did an awesome job bustling my dress as well before my grand entrance which was something I was worried about. The food, cake, and even decor is all in house. The food is very good and my cake was delicious and designed beautifully. After the reception, there is a downstairs game room where the after party is and you have the space into the morning! My wedding was Halloween weekend so some of my wedding party had a halloween costume party where we drank, ate, and did karaoke all night to keep the party going. I can't say enough good things and how PERFECT my wedding was. It was a dream - not only because of the amazing view of the ceremony site but everything else operationally. Everyone treats you like family and ALL staff truly care about you and making sure it is your best day ever.
We loved the entire staff and venue itself! Our guests raved about the wedding being beautiful and ran so smoothly! They made our wedding day the most special and stress free that it could have been, thank you! <3
I have dreamed about having my wedding here for 15+ years and it finally happened! And, it was AMAZING! They literally are so helpful and have SO many decorations, that I barely had to purchase any at all. They decorated too and it was everything I dreamed about...Clara nailed our theme. Everyone there was super professional and made our day go smoothly. It was the best and our day was so special and perfect. Thank you!!
Where do I even start? We had the best, most fun and beautiful wedding at the Forest House Lodge. Our wedding coordinator was Chenoa and she was truly a lifesaver and an amazing teammate in planning and executing our wedding. We had a couple extra special touches we wanted at our wedding and Chenoa was there every step of the way putting us at ease, fighting our battles, and doing whatever she could to make the day absolutely perfect for us.
The staff at the FHL is also truly wonderful. As the bride, they made me feel like everything was handled and I had zero worries on the big day. They also provided us with amazing service and extra special touches and surprises we weren’t expecting throughout. They really know how to put on a wedding, and they really know what the happy couple needs. The drinks were great, the food was top-notch, and everyone agreed that this wasn’t your typical wedding fare and many people told us how great the food was. The day after we were still reeling from how smoothly everything went and how truly perfect our big day was.
Finally, the venue. The ceremony site is breathtaking. The patio for cocktail hour is beautiful. The reception area is amazing and a great place to keep the party flowing nicely all evening. The “playroom” for the afterparty is so fun and has something for everyone. The rooms offered are just what your guests need after a night of partying, and breakfast the next day? Just want you need after all that booze. If you want a beautiful wedding and the greatest party of your life, the FHL is your place.
I cannot emphasize enough what a great choice it was getting married at FHL. We opted for a winter two-day package, and can't rave enough about the experience and memories we made there. My guests are still recovering from the fun (nearly two weeks later). The staff was attentive, fun, and highly experienced in all the ins and outs of wedding planning.
As a type-A personality, I was worried about my wedding vision coming to life as we neared wedding day, but our coordinator, Clara, listened to my vision, responded to my millions of emails, and ultimately provided me with a wedding day even better than I could have curated in my own mind.
I have yet to see another venue that offers couples the opportunity to host a rehearsal dinner, rehearsal after-party, wedding day (at the most beautiful ceremony site imaginable), wedding reception, late night after-party, lodging for you and your guests, all the food and drinks (throughout the two days), in a lodge entirely booked and committed to you and your wedding.
Forest House Lodge truly provided my husband and I with the best day of our lives. The memories will last us a life time and then some. Book Forest House Lodge... you won't regret it!
FHL was incredible! I saw a photo from a wedding there 5 years ago and knew that was the place I wanted to get married. It is so so so so beautiful. It is a well oiled machine. They help out in every way and make your day perfect. Shaye was great to work with! The food was fantastic. The venue was so much fun. We took advantage of it all going to bed close to 430am. I would easily do it all over again. You will not regret getting married here.
This venue is easily the best wedding venue in the Sacramento area, if not California. From the incredible, breathtaking ceremony site, to the helpful and kind staff that works at the venue. The staff at the venue works hard to ensure that you don’t have to worry about a thing and they are incredibly helpful through the entire wedding planning process. The assigned coordinator is amazing and is there for you every step of the way. The dinner they serve is amazing and they provide so many delicious options. They cake they make in house is delicious and can be personalized completely to your wishes. I seriously cannot say enough amazing things about this venue. BOOK YOUR WEDDING HERE! You won’t regret it!!
The moment we toured this venue we knew it was the place for us. Not only are the groups gorgeous and fun, every single person we interacted with throughout the planning process and on our day was beyond enthusiastic and thoughtful. We really felt like we gained a new family through this. We had some hard events leading up to our wedding day and they were compassionate and sensitive to our situation. I could honestly go on and on, from lodge itself to the completely seamless movement throughout our day, to the incredible cake and food… it still feels like a dream.
The absolute BEST wedding venue!!!!
My (now) husband and I looked and numerous wedding venues before we settled on Forest House Lodge (FHL) and we were blown away at what FHL offers compared to the rest.
We got married 9/24/21 and did the Thursday/Friday package. Having the entire venue to ourselves for so much time was great! We were able to relax Thursday night and really enjoy some special time with family and friends.
The food and cake are outstanding. And there are soo many options. As someone with some food restrictions, I was impressed with the Chef Mike’s ability to adjust the menu.
The ceremony site is incredible; obviously the view is amazing. Our guests kept talking about how great the decor was all around the reception: it was nice to borrow supplies from
FHL vs. buying everything new. And our guests loved the game room and bar.
I cannot say enough good stuff about the staff. Chenoa was our wedding coordinator: she is INCREDIBLE! Trevor, the bar manager, is awesome. Chef Mike is so friendly and helpful. Every single staff member you meet seems genuinely happy and they bend over backwards to take care of you and your guests. The staff seem like family and it makes FHL a very special place.
I highly recommend this wedding venue!
Where do I even begin?! Forest House Lodge and all of their staff are so amazing! Our wedding was a dream come true! They do so much for you on your wedding day as well as through the planning process. They made wedding planning so easy and stress free! We knew that Forest House Lodge was going to be the perfect venue for our event from the moment we showed up for the tour. We don't have enough great things to say about the venue and all of the staff at the lodge. They exceeded all of our dreams and expectations. Our wedding day was perfect!
I don't have enough good things to say about Forest House. My best friend showed me their website in late 2018 while we were drinking so I sent them an email and almost immediately Julie text me back, asking if I'd like their brochure, current pricing and if I wanted to view their space. Um... YES, I love instant responses, and upfront pricing. I live in Los Gatos, so a bit of a drive to make it up to Foresthill, but we got a date worked out and made the drive up early on a Sunday.
I am pretty critical, I'm also a bit price conscious, and this was the 5th venue I'd been to (the rest were around the Santa Cruz mountains, so much closer to home) that looked GREAT in brochures, but I was either underwhelmed by the actual place, or overwhelmed by their price point. My main complaint from everywhere else were the food and drink restrictions, the short amount of actual time they allowed, the early curfew, the restrictions on sound and limited guest capacity... and price point.
When I came to visit Forest House in late January, it had just snowed - and the area was so beautiful. Julie started us off with drinks at the bar at our request, and then gave us the whole tour - all the guest rooms, the dining area, the game room, the bridal salon, I opened every single door and kept my mouth shut the whole time so I wouldn't give away just how much I wanted to get married here.
All my questions on food, drinks, bar tab, guest count, what was allowed, what wasn't allowed, curfew, kids, etc - were all answered. Everything could be customized, their guest capacity was well over what I needed, there wasn't any curfew, we could party til 8am the next morning if we wanted to, they had a cigar room with a lock on it to keep the kids out, they included all the linens, and the DECOR - they have a whole room of decor you can choose from. Candles, signs, boxes, birdcages, pumkins, pinecones, bottles, mason jars - pretty much anything you can buy on etsy to decorate your wedding with, they already had in their decor room for you to use. And if they didn't have it and you brought it, you could sell it to them after wards. How cool is that???
We ended up booking our wedding for October 2020, before there was any sign of a pandemic.
Then a year later, California shut down because of Covid. Julie and her team made sure to update us along the way. Somehow, because of their space, and their location - we were able to keep our wedding date. Julie and Heather made sure to go over any restrictions, plans if it rained and plans if we had to be outside, plans if our guest count changed (which it did of course, we went from 200+ guests to around 80), plans for social distancing and anything else that we never thought we'd have to plan for.
When our weekend finally came (we had a Friday wedding, so we were there Thursday - Saturday), it was perfect. We brought bracelets for our guests that the team set up, and a forehead thermometer they used when checking in guests. They worked with our vendors seamlessly. I didn't have to do ANYTHING.
If you just want to have your day and not worry about the set up or going home at a certain time and cleaning up, this is your place.
One big mention - Trever the bartender is SO absolutely amazing. I'd give the place 5 stars just for him. Everyone raved about him for weeks later. He has an insane memory and remembered everyones drinks. He even was in charge of our photo booth and worked with us to personalize it.
This review is long overdue and we cannot say enough good things about Forest House Lodge. From the moment we found them on IG and stalked their photos until we got engaged and booked the venue via a FaceTime with Julie, we knew FHL was meant to be for us. FHL has several events they invite brides and
grooms to leading up to the big day, including a cocktail party, food tasting and vendor faire, and they allow you to visit the venue whenever there’s not a wedding in progress and treated us like family at all times.
For the big day, they made our special day even more special. They made sure that every detail was exactly as we wanted it and gave us the Winter Wedding of our dreams. Our coordinator Chenoa is the absolute best! She listened to what we wanted and then turned our dreams into reality. She took everything in stride and was able to handle everything that came up during the day. Chenoa created our vision perfectly and
made sure everything was in the right place at the right time. In addition, the FHL team worked tirelessly to prep and shovel the ceremony site and trudged through a foot of snow to set up our décor and clear the aisle way to allow us to have the million dollar view we dreamt of. It was an absolutely magical day, all thanks to Chenoa, Heather, Trevor, Julie and all of the amazing staff at the lodge! We can’t thank them enough. We still
receive so many “the best wedding ever” comments from all of our guests and that is all due to the Forest House Lodge stunning venue and team. In addition to this several of our guests are interested in either getting married or renewing their vows there.
Also, now that we are married, they still treat us like family. At the Grand Re-Opening party post COVID shut downs, we were able to hang out with other FHL couples and the owners. They gave us our Wedding night room and took care of all of the accommodations and liquor. We can’t wait to come back to this magical and amazing place. We couldn’t recommend them enough!
Stop! Don’t look anywhere else! Forest House Lodge is the venue for you! I promise!! This place is hand down one of the BEST venues I could have dreamed of! My husband and I didn’t lift a finger! Him and I toured probably 20-25 different venues from Northern to Southern California and NOTHING compared to this venue. Every single one of our guests either said “I want to get married again so we can get married here” or “ this is hand down the best wedding I have ever been to” and I promise you, the Lodge did it all. We could not have been more happy with our dream wedding. We got married during COVID-19 and they were nothing but so understanding and accommodating to us. And you guys, the VIEW at the ceremony site. I would talk it up, but, you have to see it for yourself self.
100% book this place. We LOVE them!
This venue was unreal in beauty and services! We lucked out with incredible warm enough weather for an out doors February ceremony overlooking the breath taking view. The reception venue and the food was absolutely perfect. We provided most of our own decorations and florals, yet the staff provided incredible care in executing the decor. The decor room of decorations they had in venue, free of cost, was a life saver filling in the gaps in my own decor. I honestly am not a planner, yet staff managed to take my very loose vision and make it better than I could have imagined. The food was amazing! I did not eat much day of, but all my guests told me how much they loved it. Over all, this is a gorgeous venue and the staff is more than adequate at making your day seamless. Could not recommend this venue more!
Forest House Lodge is far and beyond what we could have wished for in a venue. We were skeptical because it looked a little small in the reception area, but when we showed up to tour and see everything they had to offer, we were proven so wrong. Our wedding was flawless. From the start of working with our planner, Tuana, until the minute we walked out the door after the wedding, everything was perfect. Our setup was beyond beautiful, the food was delicious, the cake was stunning (Thank you, Monica - who does the cakes/desserts in house), the bar staff (Trevor is on it) is amazing - honestly everything was spot on. They really do run a tight ship and every involved manager makes sure everything goes smoothly. It was a pleasure to work with the entire staff.
The Forest House Lodge is an AMAZING wedding venue. These people are so caring and so attentive. It is so obvious how much they care about their clients and how much they want your wedding to be everything you want and more. The venue itself is gorgeous and has such a fun set up. I can't say enough good things about this venue! It was pouring rain on my wedding day and we opted to keep the ceremony outdoors (because of the gorgeous ceremony site) - Forest House Lodge made it happen and kept our guests dry and happy! Amazing experience; perfect wedding day!
Everything was perfect, we could not have hoped for a better day! The food was incredible, the venue had so many amenities that all the guests loved and we could party all night long! We absolutely love forest house lodge and have been raving about it to everyone.
We LOVED our venue. The location, staff, and fact that it’s fairly inclusive is AMAZING. I wouldn’t have changed a thing about it!
My wedding was perfect, I have people tell me that it was the BEST wedding they have ever been to and it was all thanks to the Forest House Lodge. Christine and Brie have a great eye for decorating and helped turn my vision into a reality! Julie was wonderful, and was responsive and they held their word. Trevor is a wonderful bartender, he is seriously the nicest guy ever. I am just so happy and thankful for such a wonderful day and can't wait to come back for the cocktail party in 2017 since we won the dance party at the last cocktail party!
When we were looking for a wedding venue, it was incredibly important for us to find a place that felt right and that reflected our personalities. We knew from the minute we visited that the Forest House Lodge was just that place. We can't recommend the FHL enough! We had a blast not only on our wedding day but also in the planning process (and have you ever heard anyone say that? ;) ). The FHL gave us the opportunity to visit many times and also offered us the opportunity through their tasting (Food is amazing, and they'll take special requests!) for our parents to meet well before the wedding at a time when they could really get to know each other. I'm also not the type of girl that dreamt of her wedding day as being the best day of her life - but the Forest House Lodge actually made it just that for my husband and I. :) We highly recommend any couple looking for a venue to at least visit the FHL and get a feel for just how special the venue and team are! :)
Forest House Lodge in Forestville California was recently the venue for my daughter’s wedding. We chose FHL because it handled just about the complete package to provide everything you could think of for a traditional wedding. Since it was also a lodge, they had rooms (at a reasonable cost) for many of the guests to stay the night after an exhausting evening of wedding celebrating. What wasn’t included, e.g. photographer, DJ, Flower person, etc., FHL sponsored a vendor event in February so that the wedding party could talk to many different vendors all on the same day to get a very good idea of services and pricing. The site for the wedding ceremony itself was outdoors about a mile up the road and was absolutely spectacular under the pines and firs of the El Dorado National Forest with a great view of the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. With all that could go wrong, nothing did! FHL staff were gracious hosts and knew how to pull it all together with great food and drink all timed just about right. While I am glad I don’t have another wedding to plan again, I would recommend Forest House Lodge for those open for a destination wedding.
When looking for a wedding venue we wanted some place unique where we would be assured lots of time with our family and friends. This was particularly important as many of our family and friends were traveling from far away. We also wanted a worry-free experience (or as close as you can get for a wedding) where our family and bridal party would not have to work, coordinate, or arrange anything the day of and could simply participate and enjoy the festivities. The Forest House Lodge exceeded our every expectation! Christine (wedding coordinator), Alley (bonus wedding coordinator), and Julie (house manager) who we worked with at various times during the planning process and day of, were exceptional and delivered a quality experience down to the last possible detail! They answered our every question and were happy to work with us on the particularities of what we wanted for our wedding. They were easy to communicate with as well as very responsive to emails and phone calls throughout the work week; (they are working all weekend on weddings after all!). The day of was handled with poise and grace like a well-orchestrated show. If their were any hiccups, we do not know what they were. The day after, we could not think of one thing that could have made our wedding more perfect! The venue itself is a cut above the rest, providing unique decor and touches at every turn. The downstairs game room is a fun addition, the large bar and hat collection lead to great goofy pictures; the beautiful courtyard provides an elegant location for pictures and a romantic/intimate outdoor setting and the ceremony site overlooking the Sierra Nevada mountains provides a breathtaking view. Just a stunning and stellar venue you will be overjoyed that you found.
If you want the best place and customer service go to Forest House Lodge. They take care of everything and make it so you can actually enjoy your special day!
So if you have not seen this place you have to check it out! It is amazing to just be there but the staff make it excellent. Everyone is so helpful and personable. They answer all your questions along the way and help sooo much with the planning. They set up and take down for you. Food is included and it is to die for. This is not just dinner but appetizers before and after the ceremony, cake, and late night appetizers! Cake is also included and is also amazing. They just make it amazing. All my guest said it was the best wedding that they had been to and this is because of the Lodge. The third level is so much fun
Check it out!
Forest House Lodge was a great wedding venue. We found them by looking a little out of our initial price range, but I think the perceived higher cost actually balances out to a good value because of how inclusive they are of other services we’d have to rent/vendors to find, and the amount of time you get with them compared to other venues.
Planning was made easy with a detailed planning packet that helps you make sure you plan all the necessary details. The staff doesn’t bug you much as they know you’ve got other things going on in your life, but are happy to answer questions if you want to check in more often. Kathryn made sure we were on track with everything and gave us plenty of tips on how to do many wedding aspects like candy stations, the size and amount of centerpiece and ceremony decorations, and many other things. She really knows her stuff. They also have a lot of miscellaneous vases and other decorative bits and pieces to help get you the decoration basics, which was great for us since we had to haul so many things by car from a state over, it was nice for them to have the basics on hand for us to use.
It was great having Forest House Lodge take care of many things we’d have to find on our own, like food, cake, linens and tables, the decoration basics, guest lodging, and they were helpful in finding vendors for what they didn’t provide themselves. Regarding the food, there was a tasting event for us to go to with other couples where they had a pre-planned menu. I was wary about this at first, but everything was delicious so even if they didn’t serve something we had in mind for our own reception menu (and there were a LOT of options), we were confident the rest would be good too. Chef answered any food questions we had and was open to our suggestions and gave us tips and recommendations too. All the plates were pretty empty after dinner, so I think it was a big hit. All the hors d'oeuvres were delicious, and they even provide some late night snacks. Monica makes beautiful cakes, and it was hard to narrow down all her great flavor choices. One of our cake layers was a little dry, but tasted good. The other was amazing. There’s also a breakfast the next morning for guests staying at the lodge, which was superb.
The lodge is beautiful and very spacious, and Grand Sierra Pointe is amazing for the ceremony. The room for the bridal party to get ready in is beautiful and spacious too, and well-stocked with drinks and any miscellaneous toiletries, a sound system, and other things you might need. There’s a fun game room and lounge areas downstairs, which everyone spread out to after the main parts of the rehearsal, and a great bar that a lot of people seemed to really enjoy.
The experience on the day of was wonderful. We did our own flowers and had a nice workspace downstairs, and everything else we just gave to Katherine, and she and the staff set everything up beautifully! I felt like I barely had to do anything besides get myself ready. Katherine and other staff made sure we were on schedule and helped move us from place to place and from event to event. It seemed like they had thought of everything.
Seriously, everyone should get married here. They walk you through every step in the planning process (and even have a thorough information packet if you're an organizational freak like me) and are mostly all-inclusive which majorly reduces the things you need to think about. You'll need to take care of DJ, photographer, and flowers (which will ensure that your wedding is true to your style anyway) and Forest House Lodge takes care of the rest. I'm not a decor person, and our reception was beautiful because of their creativity and commitment. We actually had a forest fire and some drops of rain on our wedding day and I honestly didn't worry about them once. The staff makes everything run smoothly and calmly and their incredible coordinator, Kathryn, will even sew a button onto your wedding dress by hand if she needs to!
The fact that the entire venue is yours makes it truly feel like home and allows your guests to celebrate with you all night and the next morning. Plus, the bang for your buck is outrageous. Considering everything they offer, Forest House Lodge is priced extremely reasonably. And they're flexible! For example: we had a family member bake our cake, so the $500 allotted for our wedding cake in our contract was transferred to our bar tab. Awesome.
Suggestion #1: Use their preferred vendor list. This venue knows what they're doing and they know how to pick great vendors to make your day even more spectacular.
Suggestion #2: Let go and enjoy. I seriously tossed a box of burlap and some flowers at them on the morning of my wedding and they took care of EVERYTHING. All I did was hang out in our enormous, private bridal suite with my girls and soak in every moment of being a bride. There is literally nothing you will have to worry about with Forest House Lodge on your team.
Suggestion #3: Book early! It's not a mystery why they fill up fast. We went for a consultation/tour in December and they only had 2 dates left for the entire 2013 season!
Lastly, after your wedding (and really once you book your date) you'll be part of the Forest House Lodge family forever. They have annual events that bring Legacy Couples and future brides/grooms together to party and enjoy the venue and it's so much fun to be part of the group forever!
After completing a spreadsheet with over 30 venues ranging from Monterey to Tahoe, I was exhausted. I had viewed the website for Forest House Lodge probably a hundred times, and always worried about the cost. But it "felt" right. Finally, after a series of mis-representation, discrimination and just an overall disheartened search through the state of California, I begged my fiancé to go and just look- knowing it was out of our budget.
We came, we saw, we knew. There gets a point in your search when you just know you have to be willing to spend that extra bit of change. This was that time. And, to be honest, because of their all inclusive package, we ended up with less stress, and less expense, than we had planned for. Yes, you heard that right- less stress AND less expense. Brett, Catherine, Lindsey- they are all absolutely amazing. They care about you as the Bride. They care about you as the Groom. They just care.
The day of our wedding so many things had been haywire, planning a wedding from far away where everyone is from further than 100 miles from the location makes for a very interesting tangle of duties and stresses. Yet, the day of, it flowed. The idea that you will not remember everything of the day?- yes, it happens. And this is a good thing. However, if I can say one thing- Forest House makes it so you remember more of the day than probably any other place could. It goes by so fast and they have it down to a science. Honestly, they are scientists in their own right, knowing when, knowing why, knowing where, and knowing how to fix everything under the sun. Power goes out? No big deal, Brett will come running in with lanterns for the guys, make sure the bride is not panicking because her hair isn't done, and get the power on in a jiffy. Was it their fault the power went out? No- did they have a solution already in place? yes. Did it make for a great story? Ohh heck yes!
Got drunken friends who insist on pranking your bridal suite... only to have them break a key in the door knob at 11pm? so no one can enter said bridal suite? Why yes, yes we did. Did it matter? No- because they can fix that too!
Further they partner with your other vendors. When I say partner, I mean they really do partner with them. Use their recommended vendors! Any of them would be just fine (For DJ- we had Brian and he was GREAT, for photography, we had Allison Lal- and I Love her!)- as they know Forest House. They know the staff, they know the routine, they know the best spots for photos, and the best way to set up the dance floor. Further, the connection they have with the staff means that when your dress decides to be too big on you and you need emergency hemming by the wonderful Catherine, she and the DJ already know how to communicate to stall. It is already in the works. And yes, you will need to stall at least once, probably a myriad of times, through the night.
Most people talk about their food- so I will just add a little snippet- it is AMAZING. It tastes soo good. Anything you choose, will be great. It melts, literally, in your mouth. And they provide a LOT of it! Enjoy the food. Treasure it! In particular if you were on a diet before hand! It is worth every morsel, every bite. And the breakfast the next day, same story. Enjoy it- enjoy the time with your family and friends. Breathe in the love they show you as they love you and so does the staff at Forest House Lodge. They will take care of you- in every way possible!
We got married August 10, and all of our friends and family have been complimenting on what a gorgeous ceremony site they have and how fun the reception was. The food was amazing and the staff was incredible!! I wish we. Could relive that day, we were treated like kings and queens. I hope I am able to one day be a guest at a wedding here bc it is amazing!! We did a rustic romantic theme. They provide everything except dj, florist, photographer, and officiant.
Wow great looking venue and great sales job. One problem no integrity. My daughter booked June 21st of 2014. They made us give them a $2000 deposit over 1 year ahead of time. When my daughter got ill 12 months before the wedding and we had to cancel the wedding, they told me too bad on the $2000. Now think about this over 11 months notice on a day they will sell next year because it is the busiest season for weddings. I tried to reason with them and say"I understand its business, but if you book that day anyway why wouldn't you give us our deposit back?" Their answer was simple "Too bad we had an agreement." Very disappointing the GREED of these guys. Its one thing to lose the venue a month or two before the wedding. But to have over 11 months notice and not be willing to work with us in any way is baffling to me and my family. Needless to say horrible business practice. And a great way to pocket $2000 of my families hard earned money for nothing.
4.5 stars--an AMAZING experience, and perfectly suited to our desire for a very Californian wedding. Their ceremony site is unbeatable, the facilities are beautiful and timeless, the staff is wonderful, the food amazing. The only problem were the guest rooms, We were required to fill them with paying guests, but they were hard to fill (primarily because the bathrooms are shared, and some of our guests were weirded out by that).
Nothing could be better than the catering at the Forest House Lodge. We knew from the tasting that they would not disappoint and we were right! Our appetizers, dinner, late night snacks were wonderful. Guests continue to tell us how wonderful their meals were and we are so very thankful to the Forest House for doing such a great job!!!
The lodge, the ceremony site, the staff... everything about the Forest House couldn't be better. It's a beautiful setting and everyone is so helpful. They truly go above and beyond. The florist turned out to be a disaster, upon the flowers arriving, Monica- the baker at the Forest House- calmly informed me that my bouquet was not up to par and she herself used roses from the lodge to craft me a lovely bouquet in no time! Our guests raved about our wedding and all assumed we broke the bank (we didn't!!) No matter what your budget, they will work their hardest to give you the most perfect day.
A truly excellent venue--fantastic service, they have everything there you need, and they care most about the people rather than kicking you out on time. It is an absolutely gorgeous, rustic setting, and all they do there are weddings, so they are pros and have thought of so many details that a bride inevitably forgets. All of my guests loved it--my cousins even asked for additional food at 1 a.m. and they graciously provided them with more hot snacks at no extra charge!
I planned my wedding in 3 months just to take advantage of the opportunity to get married at this venue on one of the last available dates for the year.
They fill up almost a year in advance for good reason - the ceremony and reception sites are gorgeous, the food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun, the guest rooms are well decorated and homey, and the staff - led by Kathryn and Brett - take care of your and your guest's every need.
Not only that, but I found their pricing - esp. if you are having a big wedding (175ppl or so) to be very fair. It includes the sites, the food, the cake, and I leveraged much of their decor for additional savings. They also recommended vendors who gave us very reasonable quotes for flowers and transportation. We ended up with less people than expected so it wasn't quite as good a deal as I had hoped (they don't charge on a per plate basis), but the pricing was still extremely competitive compared to places in San Francisco and wine country. And though it is a destination, rooms for your guests (both at the Lodge and in Auburn) are very reasonable as compared to other locations.
I would highly recommend this venue - in fact, I hope someone I know gets married there so that I can go back as a guest.
This is a unique weddings-only venue run by staff that take a very personal, "make it your day", approach to your wedding. They only run one wedding each day so you'll never feel like you're one of the many they're coordinating that day and you have full use of the entire facility during your stay. They have a magnificent outdoor ceremony site just 1.5 miles down the road from the reception venue. The Lodge itself hosts guest rooms, a spacious banquet area that opens to a lounge for dancing and relaxing and a lower level of game-room that is beyond words for fun and entertainment factor. If you're looking for all-inclusive, this is also THE way to go. We had our cake, all reception set-up (flatware, tables, linens, chairs, etc), on-site catering and unlimited time with the WONDERFUL on-site coordinator included in the price. Packages also allow you to include room and bar options which gives great flexibility. When compared to other venues in the area, we definitely got more for less and with greater flexibility. It's a true value for what is included! I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our planning process and our day with the team at Forest House. We had over 25 people tell us that ours was the best wedding they had ever been to and we attribute a lot of that to the venue and staff at Forest House. The food was beyond what you would expect for wedding fare so be prepared for some good eating. We found that everything ran beautifully day-of and it created a very stress-free event. I can't say enough about how much this venue creates the day of your dreams.
Forest House Lodge was the perfect place for our wedding. The outdoor ceremony wedding site is extremely beautiful. Our down home theme fit perfectly with the lodge and the ceremony site. The staff is very helpful and satisfied every need that we had. The planning process is very easy and communication was fabulous. There were a few glitches during my day and the staff handled it with grace and fixed the problems. There was no stress for me the day of and I got relax and enjoy the entire experience. I would highly recommend going and meeting with Brett and Katherine and letting them help you plan your dream wedding!
Hello future brides! I am that girl that has been dreaming of my wedding since I was a little. In fact every Halloween, I asked to be a bride. To me, I wanted my wedding to be perfect... to be a fairytale. I knew the flowers I wanted, the kind of music I wanted to dance to, the type of dress I would wear... the only thing I didn't know was WHERE the wedding would be. My husband (Yay, I get to call him that now!) and I met camping, on top of a mountain. I knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony, great food, and a cozy reception. We started out our search for the perfect wedding venue by booking 5 places to preview. My dear friends, the Forest House Lodge was our very first stop... and after our tour with Brett (beyond amazing, caring, and enthusiastic General Manager) ... we CANCELLED every other place... we knew we found our wedding home! We call it that, because that is what your experience at The Forest House will feel like, a second home. They take you in, and make you feel like family. Brides, I am a perfectionist. BUT, this venue, these people... THEY ARE ... perfection. Brett & Kathryn are a married couple who run the operations there. Kathryn (who will become part of your heart) is the wedding director. The Forest House Lodge is truly an all-inclusive wedding venue. It is a 3 story miner’s lodge that has been converted to a fine dining, high end wedding experience. You get a ceremony site, a reception room, incredible food, a gorgeous cake (the cake designer is actually the owner, Monica and she is fabulously talented!), a place to stay, and all the organization, help, and tips you could ever ask for! They really think of every detail; from the private appetizers set aside for the bride and groom (so you don’t miss out on one thing!)to the intimate meetings with Kathryn to make sure every single detail of your big day is exactly what you planned on, to the private tastings you get to experience… this place is magical. For us, we had so many people coming from different places, it was important for each person to feel comfortable. The FHL, are experts on knowing the unknown, and there was not one glitch on the big day! Even people with food allergies had special pre-planned meals. And the lodge... oh my goodness... The top floor is rooms to fit up to 68 people(rest of guests stay at nearby hotels, which Kathryn gives you the list for) and each room has a different theme (fun!), the second floor is the main reception room, bar & lounge, and the third floor…. I almost don't want to tell you ... but SOOO worth going to see... it is a game room with every single game you can think of... for all ages! Now a really important aspect : eating!! For our wedding, we had about 200 people who flew in from areas of all over. Growing up in Napa, my family and I are major foodies. Let me tell you, you will NOT be disappointed! The food is just amazing. They have a wonderful chef with literally hundreds of option to suit your tastes. And, when you look for a ceremony site... talk about one being sent from GOD! It is a stone walkway that leads you to an open canyon on top of a mountain ... THAT is where you get married! It is stunning. A friend of mine referred to it as "Gods Altar".(They do have other options indoors too). I really can’t say enough about how amazing this place is. I got the wedding of my dreams, got to marry my best friend, and I had a team of people behind me who truly CARED. :) A dream wedding
When it came time to plan my wedding I was looking for a place that would "take care of everything". Forest House did that and more. From the day we started talking with Brent & Kathryn they went out of their way to make us feel as comfortable as possible. We had so much faith in them that we decided to get married at the Forest House site unseen.
Leading up to the wedding the lodge has multiple tastings and social events that allow you to get to get familiar with the lodge, work with the staff and taste the food. This was a big help for me as our wedding was a "destination" wedding.
In the week leading up to the wedding the lodge made sure that everything was ready and they did the little things, like putting labels on waterbottles for our guests, that eased the burdon on my wife and I.
During the wedding weekend the service was top notch. The lodge was just the way we expected and the food was better then we had hoped. The staff took extra care of us and they went out of their way to keep our day special even when the bride and father of the bride got sick. I can't imagine our daying turning out well if we weren't in the capable hands of the staff.
Not to be overlooked is the wedding site which is perfect for anyone looking for the simple beauty of the outdoors. The view is unbelievable and we just love our pictures.
A big thanks to Brent, Kathryn, and the Forest House Lodge.
FH is really there to make your wedding as enjoyable as possible, even if that means going out of their way to go with the flow as things happen. As we were planning, they made it clear they were there to do whatever they could to make our day what we wanted. When we worked with Chef to choose our menu, there were some items we requested that weren't on the menu. We described what we were looking for, and he delivered - guests asked for the recipes! Day of, we had a few unexpected things come up (illness, missing flowers, and surely some other things I never heard about), and they were right on top of it, even if they had to improvise (plain white rice for your meal because your stomach can't take anything else? Done!). They mean it when they say they're there to make your day yours. Not to mention the House is beautiful and the ceremony site even better!
To make it the most private of affairs, they rent the entire hotel to you for 24 hours. Everything you could need is there and they make it a very intimate event no matter how many people are there
It was all included, ceremony site, reception, bed and breakfast for guests to stay. The food was fantastic. The staff was very easy to work with, willing to work with me from a distance. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone getting married. I really enjoyed having my family and friends spend the night and be there the next morning.
Beautiful view! Very nice and helpful reception personnel. Nice place with hotel rooms for people to stay. Full bar.;Lots of restrictions including how early you can show up the day of the reception outside food and drink and minimum expected payment for the venue.
The laid back atmosphere. The endless reception time. The beautiful location. The relaxed attitude of the owners. The late-night karaoke and appetizers. The place is amazing, thats all there is to it.;Just be prepared for everyone to have way too much fun.
