I am writing this as a DJ and as a friend of a couple who chose Forever Blueberry Barn in the late summer of 2023. The wedding party and family were very frustrated with the venue and staff (Sue & Josh) throughout the planning, setup, and event. I’ve been a professional wedding DJ for more than 17 years and have never experienced such unprofessional behavior from venue staff.
The bride and groom spent thousands extra to rent the facility the day before for setup and rehearsal. I also came to setup that day for rehearsal. On arrival I was given a hard time about where I parked, despite parking in the driveway near the front of the building so that I could unload heavy equipment. The family of the bride and groom were also harassed for parking and unloading near the front of the building. We were told that it was blocking the entrance to the building. Keep in mind, there was no one else there besides the party and a few family members and this was during the setup time the day before the wedding. After unloading my equipment and beginning to move it inside, I was harassed for using a hand truck (with pneumatic rubber wheels) to move my equipment into the facility. I was told that I was damaging their doorway threshold despite that the threshold was already badly damaged prior to any of us arriving. I was then asked to carry my equipment around the building instead. I observed Sue addressing the family and the bridal party in a similar manner. She also harassed them about where they parked and how they brought in their decorations. Sue repeatedly interjected into conversations that she was not a part of. During rehearsal, while we worked on the audio cues, Sue loudly yelled from the back of the room, “the sound is far too loud, it that will have to be turned down”. The sound was less than 80db inside (not very loud).
On wedding day, I observed Sue and Josh openly criticizing and complaining about members of the family and the bride and groom. About 30mins after dancing started, volume around 85db (very low), a police officer showed up and asked me to turn the music down. As it turns out, a police officer is present at every event, but no one was told this. I politely expressed to the officer that the sound was not loud and showed him a decibel meter. He told me that he understood, but regardless it had to come down because there was a noise ordinance recently passed. This meant, that the music had to be turned down to a level that was so quiet that you could not hear it right outside of the barn, not more than 15ft from the speakers. After cleaning up, my assistant and I were the last ones left and ready to leave. At this point Josh started to complain to us for 20-30mins about how terrible their guests are.
In more than 17 years of professional DJing, I have never experienced such an unprofessional venue and staff. The bridal party and family were also very displeased. This lack of respect and transparency is inexcusable. It is possible that Sue or Josh were just having a bad day, but by what I have seen in other reviews and what I experienced, I would highly recommend avoiding Forever Blueberry Barn at all cost. There are much more affordable wedding venues with much better staff that do not criticize, harass, and lie about what to expect for your event or wedding.
For reference, here is the noise ordinance for Litchfield Township so that you may be aware of what to expect: https://tinyurl.com/4b3yc4mb
my experience with Forever Blueberry farm was not good. My daughter got married Oct 14,2023. When we took the tour we was told by Sue the owner that heaters was included they are propane and the side doors would have the windows in them. The day of the rehearsal we was told by Josh that heaters are not included and the is a extra charge he would have to check to see how much propane was to tell me a price. The tells me its a barn dress for the weather. Day of the wedding did not hear from him I messaged him very early and told him we need 3 heaters. The day of the wedding they was doing tours of the barn as we are setting up and getting dressed. They did 3 tours that morning. That meant we had to work around them and they even went up the stairs to see the loft where my girls are getting dressed. Then my hair stylist told them that is very unprofessional and freezing upstairs which made them mad and a few hours later Sue came up the stairs to yell at my stylist because her tire was on the grass just a little bit. Sue made a scene. All this was going on as we are getting ready for the wedding. I did get heaters but only 2 and that did nothing to help warm that barn up. Now keep in mind the weather at night is getting down to the 40's. I hope this helps you on you decision on your wedding day.
The venue owner Sue & her sons are absolutely AMAZING. They went above and beyond to make our day absolutely amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better day! They helped us out with so much, and if we had questions on concerns they answered them immediately. The barn was absolutely stunning , a lot of our guest kept complimenting the venue and how beautiful it was, the open air barn with lights strung all through out it was just beautiful! I would highly recommend this venue for the beautiful simplicity of the venue and the amazing venue owners to go with it. Thank you so much Sue for being amazing!
Sincerely

I am sorry to be writing this review. While the barn itself was absolutely beautiful (minus the countless bees in the bridal area and grooms area) we had an absolutely horrible experience with the team itself. We could really only communicate through email to Josh, who spends most of his time in a different country. His mother, Susan, was there for tours and whatnot. She was incredibly sweet but would defer decisions to Josh who was hard to work with. They say they have a preferred vendor list but they do not. We hired a company to help us set up the wedding since there are not people at the venue to help and Susan talked down to her about how wedding planners are not needed during our meeting. We booked on a Sunday with a full bar only to find out a couple weeks before the wedding that they do not actually have their Sunday liquor license. Josh offered suggestions on how to hide liquor from the state, even going as far as texting us pictures of boxes to hide liquor in, but we ultimately decided to go with just beer and seltzers. On top of that, we find out that Josh was at our wedding, helping to serve our guests at the bar and he himself was drinking vodka and coke throughout the night from his "hidden stash." I guess we shouldn't have been surprised since when a guest asked for a specific flavor of seltzer he told her "you'll get whatever I give you and you'll be grateful." He was very rude. Going even further, on our wedding day just as we were starting our pictures, my bridesmaids were steaming the very bottom of my dress and Susan claimed we were doing it wrong and since she was a seamstress, she would do it and took the steamer and proceeded to spill boiling water all over my back and then almost ripped my dress trying to get it off due to the burn. I spent the hour before the ceremony, dressing my wounds and trying to hide the fact that I was crying. I then spend my honeymoon having to treat the burn. The only good thing, was Jeff who is also an owner but mainly works on the setup of the event and helped with out food trucks. HE was knowledgable and friendly and seemed to know what he was doing. The whole experience with FBB seemed to be one of a family who built a barn for weddings but didn't actually know anything or have any experience in helping with weddings. Also, would like to put out there that FBB has a court case ongoing for noise at their venue. So keep that in mind if looking to book. I've seen some previous review for which Josh attempts to call out the person who is leaving something negative. I think that my husband and I were very flexible with them and forgiving of many things but how everything turned out in the end warrants a bad review. A pretty venue is not all that is needed to host weddings. I would NOT recommend this place for your wedding. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE. There are better options available.
We couldn't have picked a more perfect venue! It's absolutely beautiful and we got SO many compliments! Josh did great with keeping up on communications and making the planning stages very smooth for us. He was quick to answer questions and make sure I knew everything I needed to. Sue and Jeff did a awesome with helping throughout our days at the venue for the wedding. I would 100% recommend FBB to anyone looking for a gorgeous, rustic barn. It even comes with yummy house-made wine ;) Win-win!!
The venue was impeccable, absolutely beautiful and stunning for an outdoor elegant and rustic wedding. We had a package with catering from Sausalito and the package was wonderfully priced and all inclusive with food drinks venue etc. Charlotte from Sausalito was AMAZING. She helped coordinate our whole day with the barn and worked so well with the barn and us with coordinating . We were beyond thankful to have chosen this for our wedding venue for both a beautiful outdoor ceremony and experience as well as a beautifully lit reception inside. Very spacious inside and out and beautiful land!!! Us and Our guests absolutely were in awe!
The barn was absolutely stunning for our summer wedding! The bridal loft allows for a perfect grand entrance to the ceremony. The landscape is stunning for photos as well and the string lights inside give a warm lighting. Super thankful that this beautiful venue was the backdrop for our big day!
