I really really wanted to write a great review for Four Daughters, and overall, I would recommend them as a venue but with some specific caveats.
The excellent:
-Beautiful venue, clean, large, open air indoor space with garage style doors open to a huge patio overlooking the vineyard.
-Excellent appetizers, main course, and late night snacks. Wine, Loon Juice, Sangria, and two mocktails were all fantastic. Lots of choices at different price points.
-Extremely accommodating about needing to postpone our wedding for a year due to the pandemic. They needed to increase their food prices between the the time we initially booked the wedding for and a year later when we had it and they went out of their way to make sure we had options in the same exact budget as we were promised originally.
-Venue does set up (mostly, see below) and all clean up.
The FYIs:
-Set up: The venue has lots of supplies and promised to do all the set up for us which was a huge selling point. But we asked many times for some sample table displays and information about what they had available for table settings and never got this information despite being told it would be sent. We ended up re-using some wood disks from a friend's wedding the weekend before ours to go with our simple flower arrangements. Four Daughters did a great job setting up what we gave them though.
-Communication in the weeks before the wedding was not good. We had to send follow up emails multiple times with questions about seating arrangements and alcohol. The week of the wedding we were still trying to get answers about how to select drinks. We never got a final estimate before the wedding day despite asking for one.
-Overall our biggest disappointment was day of coordination. Justine had promised she would act as the day-of coordinator so we didn't hire someone for this. I ran into her once in the morning while getting ready at the venue then didn't see her again until 3 minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start (we were looking for her and making plans for how to get ourselves to the altar at that point). I went into the main reception room a number of times during the day to look for her and the woman who was setting up the room was visibly frustrated with me for bothering her and told me she'd let Justine know I was looking for her but wouldn't help me in any other way. I don't think anyone was helping direct our guests at any time except me, my husband, or other members of the Bridal party.
-Justine had promised us baskets for socks and a trellis for the vineyard for us to decorate. We got baskets around midday. We had to ask for the trellis at least 5 times (starting at about 10am) and it didn't get moved into the vineyard until an hour or so before the ceremony was supposed to start so my bridesmaids and the groomsmen were setting it up while they were supposed to be taking photographs as a bridal party.
-We still haven't gotten our photobooth photos despite sending at least 10 emails about this. I've received a response to about 1 of every 6 emails promising they are coming in the mail but no confirmation they've been sent.
Overall, most things were great but it wasn't the hassle free situation we were promised, and if I ever worked with them again I would hire a day-of coordinator since they simply don't have the staff available to do that. Which would have been fine if we weren't specifically told they would be handling that for us.
We really loved every aspect of our wedding at Four Daughters. Justine and her staff made the whole night flow so smoothly. We did not worry about a thing and were just able to enjoy the night. The space is beautiful and everyone enjoyed the food. Justine was always responsive when we had questions and had creative solutions for us as needed, such as creating a platform for our harpist who need something to avoid her harp on the grass. They call themselves "inclusive" so it was nice not to worry about being nickle and dimed. All of the pricing was up front and included tables, chairs, linens, some decorations available, Justine as a wedding day coordinator, and even things like place cards, menus, table numbers, ect. Our day was so beautiful and stress free and a lot of the credit goes to the Four Daughters team.
Disappointed Bride
We had a small wedding on 09-20-2020. Initially, the process was wonderful and Justine, the wedding coordinator was fabulous. It wasn't until the day of the wedding that the problems unfolded. When my parents arrived to the Four Daughters ahead of myself and soon to be husband, they were notified the wedding coordinator was ill and left a note for the staff. Here's a copy of the email that I sent to Justine Vogt, the wedding coordinator and also one of the four daughters:
Hi Justine,
I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and don't have covid 19. I understand that illness can't be planned for, especially during this pandemic.
I just wanted to let you know a few things regarding our experience at our wedding. While the staff did a great job trying to pull it off, there were quite a few issues that I'd like you to be made aware of:
1. I was not contacted and informed that you were ill. This was haphazardly found out when my Mom arrived ahead of us and asked for you. That disappointed me quite a bit that I wasn't notified and I found it unprofessional.
2. The beverage stations were not set up at the ceremony site, the sand ceremony supplies were not put out on the barrel by the arch or the galvanized steel buckets with flowers as we had discussed...I had to quickly tell my mom via phone what to do. Her and my step dad ran around trying to set things up as you and I had discussed the previous week.
3. The runner was not put out per my request...given that it was windy, I'm ok with this, but just another example.
4. The speaker for the ceremony was not put out and was a last minute detail that had everyone scrambling and stressed out.
5. My niece had a dead fly in her salad and dried/caked on pink lipstick on her water glass. The poor kid didn't eat much after that due to being grossed out. All the water glasses were dirty with heavy water spots as well! Totally gross, especially during a pandemic.
6. My entree and my husband's entree were cold, but the food still tasted great...just wish it wasn't cold.
7. The sign for the sangria wasn't posted for families to help themselves to a bottle from the bride and groom.
8. The lemonade and ice water were set up inside and I don't believe anyone touched them due to having other options...these were supposed to be set up at the ceremony site.
While we made the best of things, I was truly disappointed that my parents had to run around arranging/fixing things as I wanted them. I wanted them to be the 'parents only' at my wedding and not have any added stress. This was the main reason we chose your venue and not to do a backyard wedding at our home.
I don't mean for this to sound like it was all totally awful or negative, but there were a lot of key things that weren't executed and for what we paid, I feel a bit cheated in that regard. We planned to book a reception only event at your venue after covid, but have since changed our minds. Sadly, I will have a tough time recommending your venue to others after our experience.
Thank you for your time,
A disappointed bride
We have not received a response or apology and no response is a response in my book. We paid $3500 plus at this venue for a total guest number of 18 people. Save your money and go somewhere where you'll be treated like a priority regardless of wedding size. I can only imagine how it would have been with a larger wedding!?! The best part is she sent me an invoice the following morning at 7:05!
This venue went above and beyond our expectations. Their wedding coordinator promptly answered all of my questions and was so easy and pleasant to work with. Their staff the day of did an excellent job, the space was wonderful for a group of around 230 people, and their food is amazing. It was great to have the caterer, bartender and venue booked through the same business. I can't say enough good things!
This venue was a dream come true! After touring multiple venues in the Twin Cities metro we decided to look outside our area and having been on multiple dates to Four Daughters knew that it would be a familiar and wonderful place to hold our wedding. We were not disappointed! Whitney assisted us in coordinating down to the last detail and the staff assisted in making the entire day to go smoothly. The chef is phenomenal and we received many compliments on how it was the best food people had ever had at a wedding not to mention you can’t go wrong with Four Daughters wine and Loon Juice hard cider! We would highly recommend for a magical and unique wedding venue!!
Best decision ever! The place is fantastic they provided most of the things you need to make your day wonderful and don’t worry looking for vendors everywhere! Whitney was so helpful as we don’t live in Rochester, ask for the photo booth! That was a good addition to our day that our guests enjoyed! I highly recommend this place
Four Daughters was the perfect venue our wedding. From day 1, our coordinator, Whitney, was attentive and helpful with all our questions. My husband and I were planning our wedding in MN while living in AZ and Whitney and the 4D team kept us completely confident in how the day was going to go. On the day of the wedding everything went perfectly. All the details I had talked through with Whitney were set up exactly as I had imagined, and looked perfect. The wine, loon juice, and food were all delicious - so many people we have talked to raved about how it was the best wedding meal they have had.
Our experience at Four Daughters was amazing! Our wedding day could not have been any more perfect. The vineyard and barrel room were beautiful. The food, wine, Loon Juice, and sangria were delicious! Whitney, Vicky and the rest of the staff were so accommodating and did everything possible to make the day run smoothly. We even had a rain delay and they opened the cocktail hour space early for our guests while they dried off all of the chairs for the ceremony. All in all, I highly recommend this venue. Four Daughters will be a yearly stop for many anniversary's to come!
