Betsy helped me reserve the rooms needed for my wedding group. When I got there, the lobby was under construction so I had to go through a little door with my beautiful wedding dress, which I was not happy with because noone told us the hotel was under construction. Other than that my guests had a good stay.
We got married at the Knowlton Mansion, and there weren't many hotels in the area to choose from. (Our options were to use a motel further south on the Boulevard, or to use the seedier ones up by the Turnpike in Bensalem... or to make our guests travel out to Bucks County or down to Center City.) They told us that they would block off 10 rooms at a time and then once those 10 rooms were filled, they'd open up another block of 10, which was fine. The problem was, once the first block of ten were booked, they didn't open up another 10 in the room block. This caused some problems for our guests, who thought they'd have to book elsewhere. We had a couple of guests who accidentally did that, and then they had to go out of their way to cancel their reservations at other places, once the Four Points corrected their mistake. The weekend of our wedding, a few of our guests were given the wrong room keys. They were given keys to rooms that were already occupied. In one case, it led to a humorous moment where my bridesmaid walked into my aunts' room, which was a pleasant surprise for both of them. But in another case, my cousin opened the door to a room occupied by two people we didn't know. The people in the room woke up, and it was just awkward all around. On the day of the wedding, the hotel messed up peoples' reservations and they tried to tell my parents that they didn't have a reservation for that night. (They started cleaning the room as if they were checking out, and my mom had a bit of a hard time trying to convince them that she in fact had reserved the room for two nights and that they weren't checking out. This really wasn't something she wanted to deal with during the busy process of getting ready for my wedding.)
The hotel itself was fine. The bridal suite was not really well-equipped. It only had one narrow full-length mirror on the back of the closet door. Outlets were encased in the furniture or behind the bed. It's definitely more of a traveling business hotel. It wasn't awful though.
The staff were courteous and helpful, aside from the room and check-out date mix-ups.
I stayed at the Four Points Sheraton NE Philadelphia for the weekend around my wedding. The room was huge and beautiful and the front desk was so helpful with anything I asked for. This location is also close to tons of stores in case you need anything last minute.
My room was beautiful, the housekeeping people were friendly and accommodating. The Customer service was awlful. I was very disappointed in how me and my guest were treated. They had our rooms wrong and there were other guest there complaining about the same thing.
The area is great for out of town guest.
