The rooms are clean, spacious, and stylish. The bed is so comfortable, and the bathrobe is a nice touch! We felt so comfortable during our stay. The rooms are also very quiet considering there are so many people in the hostel, that was a great ...
surprise.
The courtyard out back is a great place to relax by the pool, with plenty of seating options so it never feels crowded. The pool is great, too, if you don't want to walk the few minutes to the beach.
The proximity to the beach is wonderful, and Freehand provided us with towels, chairs and an umbrella to take with us. Our beach day was perfect thanks to these added touches.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, we had good interactions with everyone we encountered.
The windows didn't open in our room, so they offered us another room in which the windows did open which was very accommodating.
We also appreciated the bus stops just outside of the building entrance and made good use of the free trolley that stops there every 20 minutes.
It's busy, so you often have to wait a bit at the front desk. Not a big deal but allow 10 minutes in your schedule to allow for it.

Absolutely coming back next time I go to Miami!! This was a great hostel to go to, very great service and really easy to get around from. The bar and pool were really chill vibes during the week and I felt very safe every night I was there (so...
lo female). Had a slight mix up with good one night and the food manager Andy gave me a free drink the next night in addition to my food. The rooms were very spacious even with 4 people in it and it was very comfy. Can’t wait to come back again!

If you're on a budget, Freehand is a great option! The King room, though lacking in amenities and sometimes cleanliness- are comfortable and bright with some nice design touches. The outdoor areas are really the highlight though- it feels like ...
a super lush oasis with lizards everywhere and bright colored outdoor furniture. We never found the restaurant but the cocktails at Broken Shaker were delicious- though very overpriced. We did enjoy a free cocktail on Thursday which was great. Please consider making the rooms more comfortable by adding a coffee option, maybe some bottles of water, a microwave possibly. We understand at the end of the day this is still a hostel and won't have all the amenities- but it is a great bargain.

Great place with great staff. I only stayed one night, but I wished I had stayed longer. The place is beautiful, the pool is a great point of connection between travelers, and the food is not so bad. Finally, Joaquin, the guy at the front desk,...
was such a great help. He recommended places to eat and always had the biggest smile. I'll definitely come back!

Stayed at Freehand for a last minute solo trip, had a really good time here. Staff was kind, bed was clean, location was amazing. They offered happy hour on Thursdays at the hostel bar, free use of their bikes for 2 hours, complimentary beach t...
owels and umbrellas etc… The only issue I noticed was that there is no fridge or kitchen, and also signs everywhere stating “no outside food or drinks allowed in”- kind of ridiculous because people come to hostels due to budget restrictions, meaning we can’t afford to eat out all the time, so the least we should be able to do is buy our own food. Overall, would recommend to a friend.
