We booked the Fremont Foundry through Landmark Events for its beautiful, industrial aesthetic—but unfortunately, the planning and execution fell far short of expectations.
Over the course of planning, our venue contact changed four times, and each transition brought more confusion and miscommunication. Details were constantly lost, policies changed without notice, and we often found ourselves educating the staff on what was written on their own website or contract.
Just weeks from our wedding, our venue contact had changed once again, and we had to start from scratch with communicating all of the details to this new staff. In one virtual meeting, he and our previous contact both approved some of our specified requests that we made sure to note because of our familiarity with other venue requirements and their contract policies. Then, when meeting in person, this person went back on his word, acted confused about who approved these two requests, and had to "circle back" with his team to ensure the requests could still be accommodated. Ultimately, they rejected one of the requests and we had to communicate with other vendors about the change in plans.
Later, we sent Landmark a planning document formatted to the likes of their BEO for their ease of reference. Despite this, Landmark continued to send us BEOs with incorrect information and charges. We were supposed to receive a finalized BEO and payment a month prior to our wedding day. Instead, we were sent these things the night before our wedding, when we were told to pay the balance or risk cancellation of our wedding that we had been planning a whole year in advance. We had to leave a dinner early to try and resolve it, only to find the same errors again. Instead of enjoying the evening with family who had flown in, we sat at home stressed about all the uncorrected mistakes.
Then the day of the wedding arrives. We try our best to put a smile, push the worries aside, and enjoy the day. Unfortunately, the mistakes from their planning leaked into the execution. The aisle and seats were incorrectly arranged, which led to the florist incorrectly placing her own decor, so we had to very quickly rearrange the space before guests arrived. Minutes before dinner, our guests were approached about their individual allergies even though Landmark had already received a list of allergies a month in advance. Thankfully, we had carefully picked our menu so we could avoid the allergies we knew about. Had we not, I'm not sure if those guests would have eaten anything as Landmark prepares the food off site and simply brings the meals to the venue in warmers. There were other pain points as well: guests feeling like they needed to hunt down staff for tray-passed apps, us needing to walk to storage ourselves to request our dessert and cake be set out, half of our guests finishing their dinner before the last two tables could even have theirs served, and the venue's point of contact missing for the last half of the night with no communication to us who would be taking over his duties.
Keep in mind, this was a not a large wedding. We had 60 guests. And somehow, Landmark Events added far more stress than support. We would not recommend them for any special event.

TL;DR: The venue is gorgeous and the food was perfect, but communication issues, lack of transparency, and personality differences with our coordinator made our experience less than ideal.
This review has been a difficult one to write -- there were so many things we loved about the Fremont Foundry. However, there were also some things about our experience working with Landmark Events and our specific coordinator that made our planning process, and our wedding day, more difficult than they needed to be. I’m providing specific details and names here not because I want to publicly call out or shame anyone, but because I genuinely believe that our experience was specific to the staff that we worked with, and experiences with other members of the Landmark team may not be the same.
The Good
First and foremost, we absolutely LOVED the venue itself! The Foundry is such an amazing space with multiple floors and several options for creating an event flow that utilizes the entire venue. We held our ceremony and cocktail on their beautiful rooftop that overlooks the Fremont Cut and Seattle skyline, and then moved downstairs into the main venue space for our reception and dancing. So many of our guests commented that they loved our venue and the setup of our event (we loved it, too)!
The food and drinks were incredible. Herban Feast is the in-house caterer for Landmark Events and they provide an extensive menu with tons of great options that can accommodate basically any dietary preferences. We went with an entirely vegetarian meal at our wedding, and even some of our carnivorous guests said that it was the best wedding meal they’d ever had! I also want to take a moment to commend the bar and service staff, especially Felix who was the lead bartender for our event. They were great at making sure that we always had drinks in our hands and that our guests were consistently taken care of.
The Bad
Even though the food at our event ended up being great, and we absolutely loved the physical space, it was a bit of a process to get there. Landmark includes one tasting with your booking about two months before the event. It’s important to know that you are NOT able to choose the menu for your tasting, which meant that I (as a vegetarian) was unable to actually try most of the food at our tasting. We ended up booking a second/private tasting where we could choose the menu at an upcharge. There was also a bit of an issue with ADA accessibility. The venue has an elevator that goes up to the second floor, but it doesn’t go to the rooftop, and the staircases were a bit difficult for some of our guests with mobility issues to navigate.
Speaking of upcharges, about two weeks before our wedding at our final meeting with the venue, we were told about several additional fees that we were previously unaware of. They didn’t listen to us when we told them we were bringing in our own desserts, and two weeks before our wedding told us we needed to have additional staff because of that. They also didn’t capture that we wanted an open bar (even though it was communicated in our first meeting). This led to our final payments being higher than we anticipated. Separately, the venue charges thousands of dollars in “service fees” as a percentage on top of line-item charges for food/drink/labor/rental costs, and our venue representatives were unable to explain where the additional service fees were going. All of this combined to make us feel as though we were being nickel-and-dimed when we were too close to our wedding to consider alternative actions.
Part of the issue here is that our venue representative, Lauren L, was incredibly hard to communicate with. There were several instances of emails going unanswered for weeks, and when we did get a response we often did not get answers to all of our questions. We also never managed to get her phone number, or any contact number for the Foundry, which complicated communication even further.
The Ugly
One of the clearest instances of failed communication (bordering on deliberate negligence) was the lack of disclosure about Fremont Fridays, a summer concert series hosted by a nearby business in the parking lot adjacent to the venue. The main stage for Fremont Fridays is across an alley from the garage door of the Foundry’s dining room, so on concert days, there’s competing amplified sound starting around 5:00pm. Our event was always planned for a Friday, but we weren’t notified about Fremont Fridays until our first planning meeting AFTER signing the venue contract. During that meeting, our coordinator indicated that there had been discussions between Landmark and the business hosting Fremont Fridays since last year, which indicated that Landmark obviously knew about the potential disruption before we signed our contract. Landmark representatives told us how disruptive Fremont Fridays were, and that the deejays can try to mitigate but there’s not much they can do about the noise/disruption. Luckily, we were able to communicate with the neighboring business on our own to ensure that their concert would not interfere with our wedding, but this feels like something that Foundry representatives should be MUCH more transparent about before allowing contracts for Friday weddings to be signed.
We also ran into some issues scheduling our rehearsal. In the contract, it is stated that couples are able to schedule a rehearsal 30 days prior to their event. When we reached out to our coordinator at 30 days, she was unable to provide us with any options for scheduling. Later, we were able to find a time but had to move it at the last minute because our coordinator scheduled a meeting with a different couple at the same time. Had there been more consistent communication leading up to our event, we might have been able to avoid some of these scheduling issues.
Another time where lack of communication impacted our event was during day-of setup. In our final planning meeting, and in a series of emails, we sent our coordinator Lauren detailed plans related to décor. I had DIY-ed a TON of decorations for our wedding and was very excited about having all of them around our space. However, on the day of our wedding, Lauren did not set up most of the décor we brought. It was only after my mom asked about some missing items that we found over half of our prepared decorations in a back-room closet, at which point Lauren indicated she was not planning to use them. We ended up setting up a lot of them ourselves and with the generous assistance of our florist.
At the end of the night, the venue staff also threw away a TON of the decorations that we hoped to keep. The second our music shut off, staff was going through the venue to tear down, despite us being told that we would have a few minutes to collect our items. The venue threw away candlesticks that belonged to our grandmother and mother, as well as a ton of other less-sentimental but still valuable pieces of our décor.
The final note in the “ugly” category is related to our interactions with Lauren leading up to and on the day of our wedding. Despite being our day-of coordinator and therefore the person that we expected to quell chaos, she ended up being a source of frustration. In addition to the communication and décor issues I described above, there were several times throughout the day where she impacted the flow of our event. For example, she told me I didn’t have time use the restroom before our first look, and she told my mother and brother that they needed to move while they were watching my husband’s first dance with his mom (my family wasn’t blocking any safety/egress paths). These weren’t the only incidents but are representative of her general attitude. Perhaps I have an unrealistic expectation of the disposition of a day-of-coordinator, but I truly believe that someone would have a more positive experience at the Fremont Foundry if they were working with another member of their staff.
Any questions?

We got married at the Fremont Foundry early last month and it was beyond our wildest dreams. Leading up to our wedding our venue coordinator Ruby was absolutely incredible. And the combo of her and the day-of team was perfection -- everyone had such amazing energy, made transitions from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception seamless, and were true visionaries with set up and the details. The whole team made us feel so special on our wedding day and we were able to be 100% present while they did all of the behind the scenes work.
The venue is obviously so stunning -- and it's a perfect choice for indoor + outdoor celebrations. We were lucky to be able to use the rooftop for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and we loved having the courtyard space for guests to take a breather from dancing and also enjoy the food truck we brought in!
100% we highly recommend Fremont Foundry!! We are still beaming from our perfect wedding day :)

We couldn't be happier with our choice of the Fremont Foundry as our wedding venue! We loved the flexibility in using each part of the space as needed for our wedding. The catering staff went above and beyond and left everyone raving about the delicious food. Bre and Lauren were so wonderful to work with 1) during planning by effortlessly orchestrating every detail and 2) day-of by making our special day totally stress free. Five stars all around for making our wedding a truly unforgettable experience!

Oh my goodness. The Foundry is absolutely gorgeous for an industrial vibe. They have so many services in-house including catering, day-of coordination, and decor, and have great relationships with tons of Seattle-area vendors. We got so many compliments from our guests about the space. It was everything we hoped for!

Our wedding day at Fremont Foundry was lovely! Such a versatile venue. There's a rooftop, penthouse, atrium, and courtyard space to be used however you wish! Great for all seasons in Seattle.
From the beginning to the day of our wedding, we worked with 4 different venue/event coordinators. Even with 4 different coordinators, everything ran smoothly and was consistent. We received timely responses to our questions and concerns through emails and texts.
The appetizers were a little disappointing because I had expected more than one bite of chicken on a skewer stick or a prawn to be bigger. Dinner was much better. I really enjoyed the dinner entrees: beef short rib and salmon. They were cooked to perfection!
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and made the planning process stress free. Overall, this is a great venue and provides so many ways to use the space.

Fremont was the most amazing venue for us. They worked with us for 2 years through 3 date changes due to COVID delays. The day of, the entire event staff was absolutely fabulous, so many of our guests commented directly on the service they received. They handled our wedding beautiful and it turned out far better than I expected (P.S. the short ribs are the best!)

We could not have picked a more perfect venue for our winter wedding than Fremont Foundry. My wedding vibe was modern and sleek, and the venue was the perfect backdrop to bring that vision to life. The staff was extremely easy to work with and responsive. I also liked that we as bride and groom had access to the entire venue on our wedding day, even thought we were not using every space for our actual event. Fremont Foundry also offered flexible options for bar service, catering and more that made it easy for us to find a budget that worked for us. The location is also so great, and our guests really enjoyed having a bunch of bars and restaurants within walking distance so they could continue the party once the reception itself was over.

After 2 years of waiting and replanning, we finally had our wedding reception last weekend at the Foundry. It was AMAZING! We had the absolute best time!! Because of COVID precautions, we moved our party to the roof only a couple months before the party. Being November, it was pouring rain and cold out, but the Foundry team had set up such a wonderful event that we barely even noticed the weather. There were tents, heaters, beautiful lights and decor, and such a warm and inviting set-up! The food was amazing, the bartenders were great and made delicious cocktails all night, and the chef even met our request of ice cream sandwiches for dessert! The staff was lovely all night long. I have to also give a huge thank you to our event coordinator, Carlee. She started working with us towards the end of round THREE of planning this event, and she was amazing to work with! She was organized, responsive, and so calm no matter what came up. Thank you to all the other event coordinators that we worked with along the way. I really can't say enough great things about our experience. To the whole Fremont Foundry team, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Had our wedding at the Fremont Foundry just last weekend & it was a blast! The team there was great on the night of the event, just as they have been for the last two years of planning/waiting (damn covid!). Besides being a uniquely interesting industrial vibe, the Foundry made it easy to host a great event with in-house or preferred partner vendors for food, booze, lighting, florals, etc. Everything was delicious, everyone's cups stayed full, and the space looked amazing. We really appreciated that the in-house event management folks (https://landmarkeventco.com/) were communicative and collaborative throughout the planning process. It's really nice working with sophisticated professionals, producing detailed quotes, floor plans, etc., scheduling visits and tastings, email follow-ups, etc.

Wow, did we hit the jackpot with Fremont Foundry. With a wedding in October, we knew that weather could be an issue, so we were looking for a place that could be entirely indoors, but could fit our crowd of 115 easily without feeling crammed. The Foundry was the perfect spot for us. The rooms transitioned well from each section of the wedding, and the space is simple, yet so unique in its own way. It didn't take much to decorate it because it was already such a cool space! But the best thing about the Foundry was the staff. We worked really closely with Jess and we are so grateful for her help, patience, and support throughout our year of planning. She was always responsive, and worked with us to ensure things remained within our budget while still having the perfect day. We can't recommend the Fremont Foundry enough. It is beautiful, unique, and the perfect wedding venue from start to finish.
