I got engaged in Feb 2019 and the wedding was planned in June. I never met Amy in person but had a phone call with her before signing the contract. She sounded nice and professional on the call, no red flag. We signed in Apr 2019 and I paid a $2,100 non-refundable deposit
The first sign of problem emerged in Sep/Oct of 2019. I had a small event in Sep and bought a $275 bouquet from Amy (separate from wedding). The flowers withered faster than I thought, so I wrote Amy an Email, which was sent on Sep 15. In the meantime, I continued to see Amy posting Ins stories and posts. I become a bit anxious about the long period of no-response. I started calling & texting. The phone was on but would ring until voice mail. No text response neither. Two weeks passed by, I became really panicked. Was she mad at me because I had criticism to her bouquet? Why would she continue to have ins activities while ignoring my reach outs? Will she be difficult to reach when it’s closer to my wedding day? Those were some of the thoughts that went through my mind, causing a lot of stress and worry. Finally, after 18 days, on Oct 2 Amy responded to my email saying she had a few weeks off. I responded nicely but pressed she could have sent me a text and would have saved me from all those worries. She then responded she set up an Email auto-response. I never got it from any of my Emails. Besides, based on my text, she should be able to tell I did not get that auto-response (if it’s really set up as she said), but she still chose to stay ultra-silent for 18 straight days while having ins activities on the side. While I was relieved Amy eventually got back in touch, the 18-day episode gave me a bad feeling toward working with Amy….I only hoped my wedding would go without a glitch
My wishes were not heard…of course, it was not because of Amy but a bigger problem - Covid. Amy was pretty gracious when we asked for a reschedule. June moved to late Aug. By July, we knew late Aug was not happening either. Given the huge uncertainty of Covid in the summer of 2020, we could not decide on another day. Like many other couples, we started reaching out to vendors to discuss the situation. Amy was responsive at first, proposing to move it to another date by Aug of the next year. That Email was sent in mid-July 2020. I followed up asking whether we could either extend that one-year re-schedule limit to a longer period or negotiate some settlement on the deposit. No respond….As time went on, I realized Amy fall back to her no-response pattern….Only this time, it has lasted until the time I’m writing this review. During the first 2 months, she would still post on ins, mostly daily video of her children. This made me quite mad, to be honest...I was pleading with her to have a conversation while she’s posting daily video stories. I stopped reaching to her in Nov 2020. Her ins went completely dark following after Oct too.
at this point, I don’t think there’s any chance she’ll come back to discuss with me about reschedules or settlement on the $2K deposit. The emotional pain and stress she has inflicted along the way through her silent wall were much more than the monetary loss. I get it’s COVID, wedding vendors were hit hard. But at least everyone except Amy was willing to talk. I would never understand why Amy treated me the way she has done. the passage of time has calmed me, and I decide to let it go. I wish I had known Amy’s communication issue before I hired her.
I've worked with Amy on a handful of weddings and photoshoots as a stationer and sign creator and I have to say... she never disappoints! To me, Gather Design Company represents timelessness, beautiful works of art, and high-quality work.
Every time I get a request from Amy, whether it is for a real wedding, shoot, or something else, I already know I'm going to want to show it off in my portfolio because it's guaranteed to be good.
Amy is the perfect planner and floral designer for you if you enjoy all the things I listed above and more. I can't say enough great things about A and her team. Hire her!!
I met with Gather we talked over my vision and budget. When I got my quote, it was only about two thirds of the flowers that I was hoping to have, for DOUBLE my budget. I thought maybe I was asking for two much, but three other completely wonderful local florists quoted me everything I was looking for, within or around budget. Gather's style is trendy and lovely, but was vastly overpriced. Additionally, she refused to allow any supplemental flowers anywhere, not even a garland. Which, given how little she could do with my (very average) budget, meant that we would have had almost no flowers at all
The Gather Design Company team is incredible. My husband and I could not have been more impressed with our wedding florals. Amy was so easy to work with and truly brought our vision to life. From the reception table centerpieces to the bouquets, each and every floral design was beautifully crafted. Truly perfection! We could not have been happier with our experience.
Amy is a SPECTACULAR floral designer! Amy did the flowers for my wedding in California. She was great from the beginning to the end. I knew I wanted pink and peonies but I did not have a complete vision. She walked me through the floral design process step by step and provided me with great insights. At my wedding, her designs exceeded my expectations. Everything she did from the ceremony to the reception was incredible. The bouquet she made gorgeous and was like nothing I had ever seen before. She also constructed an amazing crescent moon floral structure for my new last name (Luna)! In short, she is incredible.
I cannot recommend Amy and Gather highly enough!! Amy is a god send - she is extremely talented, professional, caring, and easy to work with. I was the worst kind of client - I had no idea what my vision was, but was also extremely picky at the same time - but somehow Amy knew how to read my mind, pull out what was in my brain that I could not articulate, and create the wedding of my dreams. Everything was seamless and everyone kept complimenting me on how gorgeous the wedding and flowers were. Thank you, thank you, thank you Amy!
