9 Old Lancaster Road, Malvern, PA
General Warren is a bed and breakfast wedding and venue located in Malvern, PA. The 18th-century manor is renowned for its world-class cuisine and refined interior design. Centuries of American history surround this local landmark and your wedding could be part of it. The inn was founded in 1745 as a tribute to two British naval officers and was used as a meeting place for the army. During the American Revolution, there was a minor scuffle at the inn on the night of the Battle of Paoli, but it was resolved peacefully. It became a haven for farmers on the route between Philadelphia and Lancaster, and due to its prime location, served as the local post office. It was around this time that the building was named The General Warren Tavern in honor of Dr. Joseph Warren. Warren was an American hero who was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill. A lull in business during the 19th century left the inn in poor condition, but with the rising automobile industry, it regained its old fame. In 1984, the owners lovingly restored the property to its 18th-century grandeur, carrying out improvements into the early 21st century. Today, the establishment reflects a charming blend of colonial elegance and modern comforts. Tucked away among vibrant foliage, the property’s grounds feature sculpted gardens with soothing fountains. Adjacent to the main building is the Spring House, a 250-year old structure with an outdoor terrace. Inside, the restaurant and tavern are designed in an early American theme, with rich, dark wood and inviting hearths. The Warren Tavern was opened in 2005 in the former spot of the original 1745 tavern. Each of the inn’s eight guestrooms is individually decorated and showcases its own historic flair. Couples may retire to one of the enchanting suites for a romantic wedding night. The inn generally accommodates weddings of 130 guests, but upon special arrangements, it may host up to 150 attendees on weekends. Several event spaces are available, from the sophisticated dining rooms to the tranquil terrace. Couples frequently choose to hold both their ceremony and reception on site, though the staff is well versed in organizing reception-only events. Catering is provided in one of two options, a plated dining service or a number of stations for larger events. The personnel is also happy to arrange intimate gatherings in a private dining room. Each wedding held here is overseen by the facility’s professional event planning team, ensuring that the day is organized to match the happy couple’s vision.
