The Georgian Hall is a wedding venue nestled in Athens, GA. This elegant location is ideal for wedding ceremonies and receptions, as well as showers and rehearsal dinners. As a historic site, this venue possesses a timeless charm suitable as the foundation for a variety of weddings.
For more than a century, this hall has functioned as a premier event space and a center for social interaction in the city. Located within the Georgian building, this hall was built in 1908. Its story began as a hotel and it was considered a jewel in Athens for get-togethers and ensembles among the local populace. It operated as such until 1975. In 1986 it was transformed into a residential space with commercial operations on the lower level. More recently, in 2016 the ballroom was purchased and renovated, winning an award for heritage preservation and construction. The owner’s intention was to enliven the building and restore it to its original look and feel. With cooperation between craftsmen and artisans, they together brought life back into this space that is and always has been perfect for entertaining.
The Georgian Hall’s Grand Ballroom and Lounge demonstrates a contemporary take on traditional architecture. The white Grecian columns and swirling chandeliers nod to tradition while the cool gray walls are modern and sleek. For a dose of glamor and luxury, the tile floor features a Greek-style design throughout it. The location functions well for a variety of ceremony types, from elopements to religious weddings and more. This flexibility further makes the hall an excellent setting for weddings of all styles and tastes.
At the Georgian Hall, they provide both catering and bar services. Enjoy their delicious dishes while being waited on by their exceptional and professional staff. A number of rentals are also available to aid you in preparing the venue for your special day. Weddings with a range of guest list lengths can be held here. The spacious 2,200-square-foot ballroom can host a maximum of 180 individuals while the intimate 1,800-square-foot lounge 120. For especially large parties the two spaces can be combined to accommodate up to 250 individuals, depending on the style of your reception.

We recently hosted a rehearsal dinner for our son and his fiancé at the Georgian Hall. Everyone we worked with was so friendly and accommodating. This historical room was impressive with its original tiled floors, oak doors, and stained-glass windows. The beautiful chandeliers added to the ambience. The food was delicious, and the staff was so attentive. Our 97 guests had plenty of room in the
hors d'oeuvre area as well as seating in the dining area. I would definitely recommend the Georgian Hall for any event.

The Georgian Hall hosted my rehearsal dinner and it was absolutely perfect. The event space was great for an elegant dinner and plenty of space to converse, not to mention the food was arguably some of the best I have ever eaten!

Georgian Hall is the most stunningly beautiful venue in all of Athens. Its turn of the century architecture, and thoughtful restoration will ensure your guests will be in awe during your event. My husband and I had our wedding reception at Georgian and could not have picked a better venue. Matched to its beauty, Georgian's staff and food are unmatched. Lindsay and Meagan and their entire team were so unbelievably professional and accommodating. They went the extra mile to ensure our day was perfect. Georgian's food, might also be the best in Athens. The food was so delicious and flavorful—we got so many complements. In fact, I have never had a meal from a wedding venue I enjoyed this much, and it surpassed all of our expectations. If you are looking for a clean, professional, and gorgeous, semi-all inclusive venue in the Classic City, look no further. We cannot recommend Georgian Hall enough!

Georgian Hall has to be one of the best wedding venues around. This was our family’s 3rd wedding. While all 3 venues were beautiful, Georgian Hall was definitely our favorite. I was lucky enough to have Shannon as my venue manager. I relied heavily on her experience and expertise. She was so very relaxed and willing to go the extra mile to help us create a beautiful event. Her calm demeanor always gave me a sense of serenity. Her balance of professional and personal was exactly what I needed. I had several guests contact me after the wedding to commend me on the quality of food. (Most people don’t have a high expectation of wedding food, so I was surprised that so many people made it a point to let me know.) Of note, the salmon, brussel sprouts and famous macaroni and cheese were the show stoppers. The servers were so very professional and personal as well. I highly recommend Georgian Hall as your wedding venue.

We knew that we wanted to have our wedding at Georgian Hall since before we got engaged, and it was everything we had wanted for our wedding. The space is beautiful, the staff are amazing, and the food is incredible. Lauren was really helpful in answering all of our questions and working with us to make changes and figure out all of the right selections for our wedding. Our guests loved the venue and food, and all of our other vendors had nothing but great things to say about Georgian Hall and their team.
There were two things I would note as potential issue. First, the club room upstairs is outdated, has some floor damage by the windows, and limited comfortable seating and power outlets. I’m not sure if this is really in the venue’s control or more dependent on the condos above the venue. Either way, we got ready at a hotel, so it wasn’t a big deal for us. The second issue was when a guest’s show left black marks on the floor - the venue team tried to sweep it up before alerting our coordinator and my mom (in the middle of the reception) that there may be damage charges if it didn’t come off after the event. One of our other guests noticed and managed to easily clean it up with water and a napkin, which is great, but it was a big stress in the middle of our reception that drew a bit of unnecessary attention.
Overall, we loved Georgian Hall and are so happy with how our wedding turned out, although the potential floor issue could have been handled better. Everything was beautiful and ran smoothly for an amazing day.

The Georgian Hall venue and staff made for a most elegant, delicious and festive Rehearsal Dinner and Post Toast! The setting is absolutely gorgeous and like stepping back in time. We used the bar side for both events. The Georgian flipped the space seamlessly. Lindsey is very experienced and capable. Meg, our event manager, was very attentive and thorough and friendly. They made an outstanding team.

Georgian Hall hosted our wedding in June. They worked with South Kitchen to provide the food. So, food, drinks, and venue management (tables, linens, set-up, etc.) are all with the same group. This was extremely convenient and made planning much easier. We had an amazing experience at Georgian Hall, and we really appreciated the work and thought that Shannon Woolsey put into making our day special. I’ll go over everything one by one in this review.
Shannon Woolsey and the Team: Before the wedding, Shannon was very communicative, transparent, and easy to work with. On the day of, Shannon and all of the staff really went above and beyond. We used Georgian Hall for both the ceremony and reception. The venue flip, set up for food, and bar service all went off without a hitch. While managing all of that, Shannon made sure that my wife and I got taken care of. The whole staff was kind and professional. It was obvious how hard Shannon was working to make things perfect.
Venue and Set Up: Georgian Hall is really beautiful on its own. The columns and tiling in the space are elegant. We did not feel the need to spend extra on decorations or too much on flowers. The venue works well for both the ceremony and reception. We felt like we had plenty of space, the A.C. was working well on a hot day, and the bridal suite was convenient and provided a nice space to get ready. Georgian Hall provides all the tables, cutlery, and linens for the reception. They were all high quality. We liked not having to go elsewhere for these details. They really kept it easy.
Food: The food was standout. South Kitchen did an awesome job. We had: the chicken, shrimp meuniere, grits, collard greens, sweet potatoes, and a salad. Our out-of-town guests were mostly from Chicago and they liked the southern flair (you don’t have to get southern food, we choose to). There was definitely enough food, and we had numerous guests tell us that it was some of the best food they’d had at a wedding. Since the kitchen is another room in the venue, I think this ensures that the food doesn’t end up cold (like catered food sometimes can).
Drinks: We opted for a signature cocktail (a French 75), and it was such a hit! Our guests had a lot of these, and my wife and I loved them. We could tell that they used fresh lemon juice, good champagne, and nice gin in the cocktail. Shannon and team even thought to make fresh lemonade for the children who attended. My wife and I keep ordering these in nice restaurants, and not one has even come close to tasting as good as they did at Georgian Hall. We also had beer, wine, and mixed drinks. The bar used high quality wines (we got compliments on the wine selections from our guests who have high wine standards), had nice beers, and I noticed that they were using good liquors for the mixed drinks. They didn’t cheap out at all when providing alcohol and it showed in the quality of the drinks on the day of. This was definitely worth it.
Value for the Money: Overall, we felt that the convenience of the venue (tables, cutlery, plates, etc. all included with no need to move guests to another location for reception), superior customer service from Shannon and team, and the phenomenal food and drinks, were more than we were expecting for the price that we paid.

We hosted our son's rehearsal dinner at The Georgian and it was a fabulous evening! The food and service were especially excellent. The staff was very attentive and helpful.
Shannon is the prize of this establishment. She is so very kind and flexible! There was a cocktail hour, dinner with toasting, and also a welcome party afterwards for any wedding guests. They helped to organize and coordinate the entire evening seamlessly.

Georgian Hall EXCEEDED our expectations!! From day one they replied to my emails, booked us a tour, and from there we fell in love with this space and the people working there! I could not have been happier with our Rehearsal Dinner at Georgian Hall in December 2022! Our venue manager was very professional, easy to work with, answered all my questions promptly and thoroughly, and had me feeling at ease throughout the entire process. Even with my not being able to attend a tasting or ever seeing the actual venue space, I felt like I was in good hands. The space is beautiful and it is a real plus that they are associated with South Kitchen where the food is known to be excellent. That really cut down the stress level knowing that I didn’t have to pick an outside caterer and the food we picked was outstanding! My guests all raved about my event and the staff was fabulous.

Our daughter’s wedding was November 19, 2022, at The Georgian Hall. I cannot speak highly enough of Shannon and her team and the work they did in planning and executing this event. In our meetings leading up to the wedding, Shannon was professional, respectful, always very organized and detail-oriented. She responded promptly to questions and concerns not only from us but from all of the vendors. Shannon always conveyed a sense of calm and confidence that the event was going to be exactly what we wanted – which certainly helped to minimize stress. On wedding day her team was truly amazing. The food and service were outstanding – beyond our high expectations. I received many comments from friends and relatives who made a point to complement the excellent food and extraordinary service. Obviously, we don’t see a lot of weddings from behind the scenes but even our wedding coordinator was extremely impressed with the execution of Shannon and her staff. Georgian Hall exceeded our expectations in every way, and we are so glad we picked this venue for our rehearsal dinner. The location right in the heart of downtown is hard to beat, and the event space is gorgeous. Lindsey was so helpful even before we booked the venue in giving us options for the space and providing a tour on Zoom with us since we lived out of town. She was always quick to provide us information and answer any questions we had. Shannon planned and coordinated the event, and she was so easy to work with and helped us through the layout, decorations, and food choices. She was always accommodating and made herself available any time. She made recommendations, which were very helpful, and was always open and willing to listen to any ideas we had. The event itself was perfect. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and professional. And the food was delicious! We really could not ask for anything more! Our family picked Georgian Hall as the venue for the Rehearsal Dinner for our son and his bride. The experience was made easy from the initial booking until the night of the event. Lindsey and Shannon were a delight to work with. The entire staff made our event seen effortless as professionals. Our evening was perfect! Deciding to go with Georgian Hall for my wedding reception was the best decision I made besides marrying my husband of course. The food was amazing, our guest can not stop raving about it. All the food is catered by the restaurant in the same building. When we went to our tasting, all the food was delicious it was so hard to decide what to serve at our reception.
The events team is great, they are very responsive and went above and beyond to make sure our day turned out perfect. There are lots of emailing back and forth to make sure they have every detail down, and once you have the final headcount they send you a 3D rendering of what the space layout. It was really a one stop shop, they provided all the tables, chairs, linens, dishes, flatware, cake stand, etc. Also they linens don't have to just be white or ivory. You have lots of colors to choose from and they give you the option to upgrade them to fancier linens for a small fee. The Venue is somewhat small, it was the perfect size for my wedding which we had around 95 people. I would say anything bigger than that it might be a tight squeeze for a sit down dinner. Overall it was a great experience and I don't have a single complaint.

The rehearsal dinner we threw for my brother and his, now, wife was here at Georgian Hall and it was wonderful! The building is stunning! Requires minimal decorations and Shannon and Lindsey were exceptional to work with! The food from South Kitchen and Bar won't disappoint either! Can't say enough amazing things about this place. My husband and I had our wedding reception at Georgian Hall in May 2022. We couldn't be more thrilled with how everything went. Of course the venue is beautiful, and the huge windows make it a perfect place to enjoy the sun for a daytime event in the hot Georgia spring. The food and drinks were great (although I was honestly too out of it to enjoy them at the time, the staff made sure to pack up a little bit of everything for us to try later, a gesture we appreciated very much)! Speaking of the staff, they were really on top of it for the whole event. We worked with Shannon as our coordinator, and she really made the whole thing work. Shannon was very communicative, even throughout the busy season of graduation events. She answered all of my (many + detailed!) questions very clearly and promptly. She was incredibly helpful during the stressful last couple weeks before our wedding. I can't express how much of a relief it was to have such a reliable and experienced person as our venue coordinator. Whenever I was stressed about other things not coming together, I reassured myself that at least Shannon and Georgian Hall had the most important stuff covered!

We had our ceremony and reception at the Georgian and it was everything we dreamed of and more!! It is such a beautiful historic venue right in the heart of downtown Athens. The location is unbelievable, and the service/coordination was even better! Maddie was on top of it the entire night and was so great to work with throughout the entire planning process. I had my wedding reception at Georgian Hall in March 2022 and it was absolutely perfect, exceeding all expectations. My guests loved the building history and beauty, the ambiance, the convenience to everything in downtown Athens including hotels and especially the food and service!!
The building itself is gorgeous! My husband loved having an actual bar space and I loved having the option for my guests to flow in and out of the lobby as they wished. The upstairs club room (and terrace!) was perfect for getting ready before the wedding and used as a spot for our band and photographers to take a break during. The space is more on the formal side but it is still a super fun party atmosphere.
The food was DELICIOUS and all service was superb! There were a ton of food and drink options to choose from and we loved having local beer on tap! Everyone made a point to tell me how good the food was and what a wonderful job the staff and service did. My family even commented that clean up and break down was swift and extremely organized.
Maddie and Lindsey were a total dream team to work with and made planning easy and stress-free. They are open to new ideas and very flexible so that your vision can come to life. They were with me every step of the way, answering all my annoying questions and walking me through the process. I only had a day-of coordinator and for me that was enough since they were so helpful and accommodating.
The Something Blue car is also really sweet and a great way to exit and end the night.
I can’t thank everyone enough who had a role in helping and I highly, highly recommend Georgian Hall for any event. It was a truly perfect day and my only regret is that I won’t get to do it all again!

From my first very prompt communication with Lindsey for booking, to working with the lovely Shannon through the planning and successful event night; we had an absolutely flawless experience. Shannon was a delight to work with! Calm, positive, and competent, my son and his bride’s special evening was perfect! As a bride planning from out of state, I booked Georgian Hall sight unseen after a zoom tour with them and could not have been happier!
Not only is the space fantastic, but the staff are phenomenal. They are incredibly organized and professional. I even had a guest say to me that she noticed that the staff seemed to be genuinely enjoying themselves during the wedding.
On top of all of that the food is amazing. I had several guests comment on the quality. And personally, I thought the food was superb.

Georgian Hall is your one stop shop to have an AMAZING, stress-free wedding of your dreams. The team is beyond knowledgeable, quick, honest, and so incredibly hardworking. They went above and beyond by accommodating every request and answering all of our questions, regardless of how small. The food from South Kitchen was amazing, as many of our guests said it was "the best food they've ever had at a wedding by a long shot". This venue just made wedding planning so easy and seamless - from the food/drink, florist, band set-up, and all the other details were handled by the team with ease and professionalism. Top to bottom our experience with the Georgian was stellar. They were easy to work with, clear with communication, pricing, expectations, etc. Our requests were met with can-do attitudes and we were never made to feel bad about asking questions or making a change. I can’t think of even one negative in our experience. Great food, service, venue, staff. Maddie was excellent to work with!

Georgian could not have been better on every level. From the extensive planning and email check ins, to the last minute accommodations and changes, to the attentive and wonderful coordinator (Maddie), to the amazing food and beautiful space. Georgian was our first and only choice. Even down to the last few minutes of our reception, Maddie was there coordinating to make sure everything was picturesque and stress-free for us. If you are getting married in Athens, and Georgian Hall isn’t a part of it, you’re missing out.

Georgian Hall was the absolute perfect venue for us! The venue itself is already stunning without having to add a lot of "extra." The catering by South Kitchen is also a major plus! From the initial venue tour, to the tasting, to the final walkthrough, to the wedding day, the process was seamless and the staff was on top of everything!

The Georgian was a gorgeous venue that was perfect for my ceremony and reception. They flipped the space so quickly. Everything went smoothly! The food was amazing and had people telling me after it was the best they have had! The staff was great and the bartenders made great drinks! Maddie (venue wedding coordinator) was great at answering my many questions and getting everything I wanted! Would definitely recommend

After looking at several venues, the second I walked into Georgian Hall I knew that this would be my venue! Lindsey did a phenomenal job during the tour and answering all of our questions. From there, Maddie took over all of the coordinating, planning, and tastings for us! She was so genuine and helpful and made the entire process a breeze. Anytime I needed to make a change she was on top of it. The entire team made our wedding day hands down PERFECT! Beautiful venue, GREAT food, and awesome service. There is not one thing that we would have changed.

Absolutely hands down my daughters wedding couldn’t have been any better!! Maddie and Lindsey were the two I worked with the most and they were ALWAYS so kind, patient (I must’ve sent 1000 emails ) , calm, organized , punctual to every meeting , and so talented at what they do! They helped me give my one and only the wedding of her dreams ! Maddie was always so quick to respond to my calls and/or emails and was also so gracious! She always met me with a smile and always went out of her way to meet me at extra times if I just needed to see something one more time! The day of went perfect! Lindsey always made sure the bride and groom as well as myself had something to drink as well as fixed us a plate to make sure we ate! She was very attentive! They worked very well with all of my vendors! Everyone had a fantastic time and are still talking about “how charming the venue is” and how much fun we all had and how delicious the food was! It was all absolutely amazing ! I cannot put into adequate words how wonderful everything was and how easy they are to work with! If you want a flawless start to finish wedding with people who are so good at what they do - don’t hesitate to give them a call and book your wedding at Georgian Hall!

The Georgian Hall was an incredible venue for our wedding. Maddie and all of the staff were incredibly helpful, and made the process stress free. The entire night was perfect, and the food was AMAZING. All of our guests loved the reception, and I would recommend this venue for anyone.

I am so grateful that we booked with Georgian Hall!!! We booked in 2019 and ended up booking a reschedule for covid. The staff was consistently responsive, kind, and accommodating throughout the two years. Day-of was also PERFECT. They helped make my vision come to life and I was totally overwhelmed! Also, the whole staff was so kind and attentive - it makes SUCH a hug difference. 10/10 recommend!

Georgian Hall was the absolute best wedding reception venue we could have imagined. The food and drinks were incredible (six weeks later and I still have people telling me how great the biscuits and shrimp étouffée were), and the space was set up perfectly for our band and our guests. We loved the getaway car as well. Overall, highly recommend — the venue itself and the coordinating team took all of the stress out of planning, and made our wedding day a dream come true!

We was set on getting married in downtown Athens (Go Dawgs) and could not have asked for a better experience. Maddie and her team were so professional and flexible and made sure we got everything done how we wanted and without hassle. Cannot recommend them enough!

The Georgian Hall was the perfect venue for our rehearsal dinner. Maddie was thorough and pleasant to communicate with regarding planning and tastings. The atmosphere, set-up, food and beverages were excellent. We continue to get compliments on the food! The staff of the The Georgian were so gracious in working with us through the covid postponement. Knowing that our event was in good hands made it easier and more enjoyable to focus on our guests during this special evening.

I would have had my wedding reception at no other location in Athens!! Maddie and Lindsey are so organized and detail oriented and were so attentive to our every need. The planning process was so easy and stress-free, Maddie was always so quick to respond to emails, several times after normal business hours! She was able to answer all of our questions in detail and even if she didn't have the answer right away, she would check with the appropriate person and get back to us ASAP. However, we didn't have that many questions because Maddie seemed to think of everything, several things that we didn't even know to ask and hadn't thought about! Another pro, we used several different vendors, most had a history of working at the Georgian and were so excited to hear that was our venue, and Maddie worked so well with all of them. Every staff member did a fantastic job and we are so grateful that the Georgian team worked so hard to make our wedding the perfect night :)

I had my wedding at Georgian Hall and it was AMAZING!! Not only is the venue space absolutely gorgeous but the team there is the best!! Lindsey & Maddie were so helpful from the very beginning! They answered every question, calmed our nerves around the pandemic and were SO responsive. Every request I had, they made it happen! I can't thank them enough for making my dream wedding happen!!

We hosted our son and now daughter's Rehearsal Dinner at the Georgian Hall and we could not have been happier!!
The venue, the staff & service and especially the food was spectacular!
I received so many positive comments from our guests about every detail. It is a gorgeous place and the venue coordinators are amazing.
Maddie never missed a thing...she was a pleasure to work with and very professional. She made it super easy to plan since she was on top of everything!

We hosted our rehearsal dinner at Georgian Hall and Paige and the rest of the team couldn't have done a more fantastic job. They were such a joy to work with and made the process such a breeze. The space was gorgeous, the service was impeccable, and the food was out of sight. They were also so incredibly accommodating and flexible when I postponed a full year due to Covid. I would choose Georgian Hall as my venue a million times over.

The Georgian Hall absolutely exceeded expectations when it came to the venue itself, food, service, and staff-everything was perfect. Maddie and Lindsey were both so hands on for us even helping me out with a late night Chick-fil-a delivery!
We have had a lot of positive feedback from guests regarding the food and service, as well. We really couldn’t have asked for more for our postponed wedding reception! Thank you so much!

The team at Georgian Hall was absolutely fantastic. From the start, they helped us every step of the way. The food was incredible, the room was beautiful, and any complication we had (on our end) they were quick to help us figure things out. I would recommend anyone considering this venue to go for it!
