We are so thrilled we used Gertrude’s for our wedding! The venue was a sentimental pick for us and the wonderful Gertrude’s staff provided such a memorable and hospitable experience for us and our loved ones. Emily was super knowledgeable, helpful and communicative in planning logistics with the venue. Months later, we are still hearing from our guests how fantastic the food and service was!
We had our reception at Gertrude's last weekend and it was perfect!! We were able to get beautiful photos down in the BMA gardens and had the cocktail hour in the sculpture garden and on the terrace. We did food stations so we got to select 3 different entrees along with 2 sides, and they were ALL DELICIOUS!!! The guests raved about the food! They could get whatever they wanted and go back for seconds and thirds. We had Angus beef with mushroom risotto and mosaic vegetables, fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans, and vegetable lasagna with a kale & sweet potato curry and greek salad. Guests were able to eat dinner either indoors or out on the terrace, and then we danced the night away on the terrace, where there was plenty of space! It was great because if anyone wanted to sit and chat in a quieter environment, they could just go back inside and sit by the bar or at one of the tables.
The servers were super attentive and Richard was wonderful and took great care of me and my husband throughout the night! Emily was fantastic! She coordinated everything and communicated with me throughout the planning process and during the event. Emily is super responsive, personable, and patient. She made everything so easy and answered all my questions in the months leading up to the reception. We couldn't have asked for a better coordinator or venue! The guests kept commenting on how beautiful it was and how much fun they had. We're so grateful that we found Gertrude's and that they were available on our date! Thank you to everyone for making our day so special!!
Working with the team at Gertrude's was a breeze! Emily was very responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. She kept everything as stress free as possible when we needed to postpone our wedding due to the pandemic. While the venue is absolutely gorgeous, I personally loved how much came with our contract. I wanted my wedding planning to be easy and Gertrude's made it possible. Having all of the food, drink, and waitstaff in house as well as the built in decor of the sculpture garden significantly decreased the number of vendors (and the related cost!) that I would have had if we had gone somewhere else. Thanks to the entire team at Gertrude's for being awesome!
We had our ceremony and reception at Gertrude's and our wedding was absolutely perfect! Every member of the staff was engaging and accommodating. Emily, the event coordinator, was extremely kind and responsive. Emily is incredibly organized and ensured that the entire event was seamless! "J", our attendant on our wedding day, was absolutely lovely. We couldn't be happier to host our guests at this venue. Everyone had an amazing time, and the venue personnel are extraordinary! The layout of the venue is perfect for a fun event - with both indoor and outdoor accommodations. The food is absolutely incredible! If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing! I highly recommend Gertrude's Restaurant for both wedding ceremonies and receptions!
I am so happy we chose Gertrude’s for our wedding reception. Emily, the venue coordinator, made the planning process so easy. She was always prompt and detailed with the information she provided, and graciously tolerated my 1-million questions. Since Gertrude’s is a restaurant you don’t have to worry about table linens, place settings, votive candles, chairs, etc… They have beautiful, crisp white linens for all of the dining & cocktail tables - you are only responsible for the the banquet tables & specialty tables - which is a fun way to bring a pop of color into the decor. They also have cafe lights strung in the tented terrace where the band, dance floor, a handful of tables, and an additional bar is set up; as well as having magical strands of twinkle lights draping from the large picture window separating the restaurant from the tented terrace. These make for a great backdrop for photos (comment from my photographers) and give the space an elegant feel. There is also a beautiful fountain in the upper garden terrace, and you can rent hurricane candles to add a bit of twinkle to the ambiance. As the bride & groom, an attendant is assigned to you for the evening. Let me tell you how incredible this is - we didn't have to think. Our attendant always made sure we had a fresh cocktail, while we were taking photos during cocktail hour she made sure to bring us plates of the passed hors d’oeuvres so we could nibble, and when dinner was announced she made plates for us so by the time we got to our table we had dinner ready for us. That brings me to the food! Oh my gosh, the food! If you have never eaten at Gertrude’s you are missing out on a Baltimore gem! The food was absolutely outstanding! We got compliment after compliment - there is truly something for everyone. This is also where Emily and her expertise come in. As a couple, you go through their catering menu and pick your ideal menu selections and send it to Emily. She gives you the per/guest cost and any recommendations needed to bring it within your budget, and you tweak from there. Then the fun part, the menu tasting! The open bar option is also a great deal and reasonably priced. Emily also provides you with a list of vendors who have worked with Gertrude’s in the past. We chose Local Color Flowers (AMAZING) and used Table Toppers for the specialty linens. (Side note: our ceremony ended up being on the BMA portion of the upper sculpture garden, but you can have your ceremony at Gertrude’s as well. The rain plan for us would have been to have the ceremony in the tented terrace). If you want a beautiful unique setting and don’t want to juggle a bunch of vendors, Gertrude’s is your one-stop shop!
I could not have dreamt up a better venue! Gertrude's was perfect for our wedding. Emily, the coordinator was very thorough and helpful. The food was fantastic. The timeline flowed perfectly. The reception was beautiful. I am so happy we found Gertrude's!
