Gilley's Dallas was an incredible wedding venue! They have so many spaces to choose from and their staff was incredible to work with! We got married at The Loft and it was the perfect space that overlooked the downtown skyline. Many of our guests said it was one of their favorite venues that they have been to. I worked with Andrea to coordinate the event and she was beyond helpful and always happy to answer my many questions. They were so flexible and offer everything from food, drinks, tables, linens and more. I am extremely happy with our decision to get married at Gilley's!
If your booking a wedding make sure to ask EVERY detail!!!
We booked our wedding at Gilleys for October, in February. We worked with Andrea McMillian for about 7 months to prepare for this day. She was responsive and met with us a few times to walk through the venue. Most of the things that went wrong are things I wasn’t aware to prepare for, until the day before the event. Luckily, we were allowed to set up the venue the night before because the room had not been booked for an event the night before our wedding. Thank Goodness we went the day before or Sunday would have been a disaster. Gilleys will provide linens so we choose to go that route. We Did Not Know they were laundered linens from other events (which I understand for economic reasons) But they will have stains and they will not be pressed. We spent 3 hours on Saturday with a steam cleaner and iron getting the linens presentable only to be told Sunday before my First Look photos that the room next to us took our linens to use. The linens we spent hours ironing. (Theirs were wrinkled) They had gotten chocolate all over them and we could not use them. We ended up taking the table from their room to put our cake on. Basically, the rooms connect which is good for being able to use them on the day of your event but bad because others can also get into your space and borrow things.
We were also told Saturday that the fans did not work on the patio. The day of our wedding was 96. The last but most important disappointment was the DJ Matt Sharp that Gilleys very highly recommended. He will send you an email to fill out with the list of songs at different times you want them played. My wedding was small so a lot of the details didn’t pertain to me. I filled it out to the best of my ability. Ive never been married before and had questions. He is hard to get ahold of. I did menetion to Andrea and she said he was sooo busy with events that not to worry. I spoke to him once before my wedding. I did ask for him the day of my wedding but Dean said he was changing. Dean said he was very good and not to worry. He did not introduce himself before the wedding and told Gilleys he was there 2 hours before it started. I never met or got to speak to him until after our first dance. And by that time it was way to late. I waited to post my review to get others feed back. Words guest used to describe him were hung over, detached, lethargic, and uninterested. We wanted an interactive DJ. He did not say anything. Guests were asking him to play decent music all night. He was annoyed, and so were we. I did decide to stop the wedding early. It was a long Saturday getting ready, Sunday at the venue was a mess, the DJ was awful. I just wanted to be done. The bill was 10,000. Gilleys did take 200.00 off my parking bill as an apology for the DJ. (You pay 5 a car for your guest to park)
We just had our wedding at Gilley's Dallas Loft and opted to add on the Bonnie & Clyde add on (speakeasy). The view from the loft was gorgeous and the venue itself was so cool. We could not have had a better experience. The staff was attentive and went above and beyond with making our day beautiful and stress free. The vendors they work with are top notch and it is very affordable for everything you get. We worked with Andrea McMillan and she was so quick to respond and had great attention to detail. She is very talented and we knew we were in good hands as soon as we met her. The staff on the day was amazing from the bar tender, production staff, DJ Matt (DJ's of Dallas), and security. They were so down to earth and helped wherever they could. If you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue--stop your search and book it here. You will not regret it!
We had our wedding here atThe Loft (one of gilleys many rooms). While my wedding was beautiful and I loved every part of it, Gilleys staff left me very disappointed.
We initially booked the Brazos Room and were told by the coordinator that we would have our buffet outside of the hall because no other wedding was booked in the Lonestar room across from our room. We were told our bar could also be out in the atrium. Well, a month before our wedding, we are told we cannot have the buffet outside the hall because someone else booked in the Lonestar room (wish I had known sooner considering we booked the venue a year in advance). We were also told there would be a high school homecoming in Southside Ballroom and we couldn’t have our bar in the atrium because they didn’t want the young high schoolers trying to buy alcohol. So we had to cram all of this into our tiny room and would be left without a dance floor basically. I wasn’t made aware of this until I asked questions and that was a month before our wedding. I should have been told this way before because we were left scrambling to find a solution. Our only solution though was to pay about $4000 more to rent The Loft upstairs. So a month before our wedding, we had to dish out a lot more money and ended up going over budget. The space was absolutely beautiful though, so I was content. Plus, we had the entire space to ourselves and had the balcony.
We were told when we toured the venue that they would supply mirror plates and 3 votive candles for centerpieces. Another reason we booked this place was because Alexis made it seem like they offered all of this extra stuff and it would save us money on decor. We were also told the venue would supply Purple Uplights at no additional cost. On the day of the wedding, my coordinator asked the event manager where the candles and mirror plates were and he told us he had no idea, was never told, and that they were already being used by another event going on. Like I said, I booked this venue a year in advance and was told then that we would get this additional decor and that it was included. I even have emails with Alexis from the Tuesday before my wedding where she assured me that she would tell the event manager for the night about the plates and votives. She never did. Also, the uplights weren’t there either even though we also talked about that multiple times throughout the year it took to plan this wedding. Very disappointing considering we paid $10,000 for this space, and catering and were told all these things would be included.
Catering was good and everyone loved the food. We chose breakfast for dinner. Unfortunately the venue will not let you take ANY of the leftover food home. There was a lot leftover and I feel like we paid for it so we should have been able to take it. But in the contract, it says we cannot.
Probably the most hurtful part of this all was what they did to my leftover flowers. I had ordered 70 succulents for our centerpieces and decor. Came out to about $200. The day of the wedding, I got caught up talking to all of our guests so I didn’t have a lot of time to actually check out the decor and take it all in. So I didn’t get to see the succulents I had dreamed of since day one. All of my guests couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful they were, so I was happy to know they were a hit! I was excited to take them home and regift some as succulents can be re potted and live. They are VERY costly. Well, the day after my wedding they are nowhere to be found. My day of coordinator had told the venue staff we were going to take all the leftover florals. Well, come to found out the venue staff threw ALL of the succulents and greenery away right after the wedding. We had the venue until 11:30 and by 10:45 the tables were all cleared off, including the florals. I was absolutely devastated. Mostly because I didn’t even get a chance to see the decor I worked so hard on, and because that was a lot of money to be wasted. The venue staff did not listen to instructions whatsoever. And when I approached Alexis to find out what happened and why they were thrown away, I didn’t feel like she was very apologetic. I was hoping the venue would at least reimburse us for their mistake. But instead was told they would pass along the information to their team so they would do better next time. It did absolutely no good and it has really bothered me ever since. This is why I am writing this review because while my wedding day was perfect, I feel like there is still disappointment in that we paid $10,000 for this venue, catering, and staff and were promised so many things but they did not deliver.
I wanted to share my experience for any other couples who are considering getting married at Gilleys. It is an absolutely beautiful place and our guests loved it. But the venue staff added unnecessary stress to our planning and our actual day. So be aware if you’re considering to book this place.
This was the perfect place for us. We used to go to concerts when Gilley's was a dancehall while we were dating. When it came across in a search for Dallas wedding venues, it was a no brainer. They are very easy to work with and provide tables, linens and small center piece items that you can easily add more to if you want. They partner with in house catering, G.Texas Catering, which makes it easy with one less vendor to keep in contact with.
A really great urban, cool place to have a reception. It was perfect!
We went to Gilley's on Saturday evenings for dance lessons for the wedding. They split up the guy and girl to learn the dance and then you try it together. The teacher is very good, and he will help you if you ask. Best of all, it's free! And they have $2 beers until 9 if you want to get your guy into it. Beginner's lessons start at 7!
