Venue needs major renovations inside and outside. Patio had weeds growing in the cracks throughout the patio, ceiling tiles were not in place and dirty, chairs in the hall and pews in the church stained and torn, chapel floor needs work, paint coming off doors and walls, dressing room counter is warped and falling off and the venue is missing a lot of attention to detail. There is a horrible smell mainly in the chapel area, we brought Glade air freshener and left over night from set up. There was no heat lamp used for the carved item on the dinner buffet and the food for the pre reception was forgotten. They had a table with no skirt in the guest area, which was suppose to be for the pre reception food. Most of that salt and pepper shakers were less than half full and dirty, I took them off the tables myself. Bartender closed the bar 1/2 hours early because she had to be somewhere at 11pm. (Our event was suppose to end at 11) When I tried to speak with Mr. Sullivan about an issue with the service staff (staff was doing what I had asked them to do) he walked right past me as I was trying to talk. I would suggest a visit to this venue before booking.
Itis a beautiful place, went and saw it but it is not inexpensive at all.
Jennifer was awesome! Did a great job with wedding! Highly recommended!
My husband and I used Glen Gables for both our ceremony and reception. The chapel is beautiful and spacious. The reception hall was also spacious and the layout worked out. My only complaint is that I heard a few people did not like the food, in which the catering option is not a choice with Glen Gables. I did not mind the food but some of my family and friends are "foodies". It was in no way an expensive gourmet menu, but a lot of choices and within my budget. Jennifer and Amy were both great. They have the best interest in mind for the couple and is always helpful. I would recommend this venue to others.
We attended a wedding and reception at Glen Gables. The place was beautiful. The food provided by Sullivan's Black Forest was very, very good. I would not hesitate to use this venue.
Glen Gables is under new management now and they are starting to turn the place around. The chapel is beautiful and the reception hall is nice too but could use some new updating. Once we added our decorations to the reception hall, it came together nicely. You have to use their catering company which is Sullivan’s from Frankenmuth but the food was very good and the rates were cheaper compared to other places.
If the place was updated a little more I would have given it a five star rating!
I started planning my wedding 2 years ago and they were under different management at the time... the new management is AWESOME. The old manager had screwed me over and messed up some of my wedding planning and the new manager helped me SO MUCH. I had the wedding of my dreams with the help of the new manager here. She is such a sweetheart, and so were the other staff members I met. The food from Black Forest was INCREDIBLE. I had missed my food tasting and didn't know what it was going to be like until the day of; and it was a VERY pleasant surprise. Very nice place :-D
First off my mom was doing alot of our planning since we were currently living in GA. When I first got to see the place I left in tears. However, they were going through renovations. The lady that we dealt with Mary W. was very unprofessional in the way she dressed. We ended up having to use her husband Jason for our officient when ours got sick at the last minute. During the rehearsal he used the "F" word when talking to my fiancee in the grooms room. Then on the actual wedding day he told my husband that I was a gorgeous woman and that he was an ugly man and needed to do what he could to keep me. Then he proceeded to read the blessing for dinner from his cell phone and he hit on just about every woman at the reception. My wedding coordinator for the day was incredibly rude to me and the rest of the wedding party. However, I will not give them a horrible review on the fact that Sullivans was wonderful. The food was great and their servers were very polite and helpful. The church was pretty nice after they did some work to it. The reception area was very nice as well. However, I do recommend hiring Royal Linen to decorate your tables and chairs, it makes all the difference in the world.
The reception venue was already decorated, so I had minimal work to do. It was simply a very nice venue. It also had a large bar area.;If you are having a big reception (275 or more), this would be a tight squeeze.
