The food tasting was good, and 4 people was allowed to attend. However, Theresa made us stand at a bar of once of the reception halls that she was catering an event at that day while we were tasting and the tasting lasted approximately 2 hours. Theresa's disposition is very offensive. Despite the fact that I was months (about 3 months) ahead of my payment schedule with her, she always treated me like she didn't trust my payments, and I never bounced a check (nor do I have a history of doing this with anyone at all), and many of my payments was made cash! In addition, when I first ran across Golden Apple Caterers, I was also inquiring about the Crystal Ball room and the Elk Lodge in Maryland. I decided that I didn't like the venue of the Elk Lodge so it was now between Golden Apple Caterers and the Crystal Ball room. After reviewing the menu for the Crystal Ball room I decided that I would go with Golden Apple Caterers. When I notified Theresa that I was going with her catering company for my reception, despite the fact that I already made the decision she went on and on about how that was a wise choice because the Crystal ball room is not licensed to have liquor and how that is illegal....I expressed to Theresa that I had already chose her and was not very pleased with her putting another business down. She kept going and I reminded her again that she didn't need to down the other business and finally she stopped. Next, she always tried to make it seems like she was giving me a "deal" because she charged me $46 per head and that included open bar. However, I tried to explain to her that I didn't negotiate this price with her, this was the initial price that she quoted me and it was in my budget so I accepted it. She still insisted that she gave me a deal, but she didn't because I had to assure a minimum of 140 people. So, the more people, the more money. It was almost as if she was trying to head me off because I we were a black couple and she wanted to make sure I wasn't going to try to "negotiate" her price/services, which WE NEVER DID. Lastly, Theresa set up a table for 12 children, I explained to her that I had hired 2 overseers of the children for that day and that the overseer was providing coloring books, crayons, and McDonald's food for the children. However, Theresa kept repeating over and over how I need to make sure that those children DO NOT (and she used an aggressive tone to express this) have those children at the buffet table because she will have to charge me for it. I expressed to her that I understood that which is why I hired people to oversee and feed the children. She kept on going about just don't have them at the buffet because she will charge me. She was very stressful because her tone was often insulting during most of our interactions. The hall (IBEW 313 Local) was nice, but you can contact them directly to rent it from them you don't have to use Golden Apple Caterers, unless you want a headache from Theresa!
