Carlos, Kylie, Paloma, Sarah, Jefferson, and the entire Goodstone team made our wedding weekend absolutely phenomenal. They were all kind, professional, experienced, and flexible to our needs and the needs of our guests. The property has so many incredible views and such fantastic food that we decided to host both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding at Goodstone, with all guests staying onsite in the gorgeous cottages. Carlos worked seamlessly with all of our vendors and his creativity and knack for solving problems ensured that we could quickly adjust when hail ruined our ceremony plans - and the new ceremony setup was even better than I imagined! Plus, he coordinated such wonderful touches to the weekend, including a champagne tower, specialty cocktails, late night food, etc. and was very patient and accommodating the whole time. Our guests had a blast - from Jefferson's five-star breakfast each morning to the beautiful trail walks and views to visiting the adorable animals. Paloma and Sarah made us feel so special and so welcome each time we entered the room. I can't say enough positive things about how truly wonderful this place is and these people are. I wholeheartedly recommending this venue to all my friends and family (plus I know my family and I will definitely be back for a weekend stay to relive the magic.) Thank you, Goodstone!
It’s hard to even know where to start when reflecting back on my experience with Goodstone Inn for our wedding on November 15th 2025. I’ve always known I wanted to get married in Middleburg, and the Goodstone Inn was our first tour last September. Jennifer took my fiance and parents and I around the property, and I canceled the rest of my tours on the spot. Goodstone has the most charming and peaceful presence about it that makes you never want to leave. It’s sprawling and stunning, and each location on the property has its own history and unique identity. This is no cookie-cutter, generic venue, it’s timeless and historic, and has an identity of its own.
Our wedding weekend was incredible as we stayed at the Manor House, it’s a beautiful home where we had a lovely rehearsal dinner and took our family pictures. We married by the classic Ivy wall, which made our ceremony look like an intimate secret garden that was lush and alive, even in mid-November. Our dinner was held in the conservatory where it was transformed into an elegant, private dinner for our group of 50, and we were completely thrilled at how incredible the food turned out. It was a high-end dining experience that our guests are still letting us know how much they enjoyed. The upstairs bar and bistro was transformed for our reception, with the beautiful bistro room as our dance center that felt intimate and upscale, a perfect “quiet luxury” vibe that I was searching for.
The entire team, Katie, Grace, Jennifer, and Megan were wonderful to work with, attentive, responsive, and so collected during the weekend itself. All of the day-of servers were wonderful, with a special shoutout to Jax who charmed us all with his kindness and personal attention. If there was a “theme” of my wedding, it would’ve been Goodstone itself, and I wouldn’t change that for a second. I’d get married there ten times over, and just can’t wait for our one-year anniversary for another special, intimate weekend celebrating the anniversary of our incredible wedding.
I really wanted to love The Goodstone Inn — the property is stunning and everyone was warm and welcoming when we toured. But once we moved into the contract phase, things went downhill quickly.
Our sales contact, Jennifer, was kind but extremely slow to respond throughout the entire process. It often took weeks to hear back, and even then, responses were vague or didn’t address the questions we asked. Communication only worsened after booking. The events team underwent turnover, and information was constantly conflicting — what they told me often differed from what they told my mother-in-law, my father, or others involved in planning.
There were also multiple attempts to overcharge us, including one instance of a $2,000–$3,000 overage that we only caught because I double-checked every invoice against our contract. Frankly, the only reason we avoided paying thousands more was because I didn’t trust them after so many earlier miscommunications. Several unexpected fees also appeared toward the end that had never been disclosed.
While the setting is undeniably beautiful, the poor communication, disorganization, and repeated issues made the experience incredibly stressful. If you’re considering The Goodstone Inn, triple-check every charge and get every detail in writing — I wish I had known what to expect.
My partner and I had the pleasure of visiting this venue twice, and I must say, it is absolutely stunning. The location is beautiful, with picturesque surroundings that would make any wedding day feel magical. Jennifer, our venue contact was friendly, and welcoming, making us feel right at home.
Unfortunately for us, things took a disappointing turn after we requested a contract. NOTE: when you ask for contract based on a proposal, you enter a verbal agreement. The venue holds the offer and the date until the due date noted on the contract. Jennifer took two weeks to send us the agreement and, sadly, the room rate doubled from what was quoted to us originally. Jennifer said there was nothing that could be done. When we pushed back, Jennifer informed us that the date is no longer available and wished us a good day. I was shocked.
What was even more frustrating was that there was no apology or remedy offered for the inconvenience. I work in the industry. I get it. You make mistakes, you get better business opportunities… but you never just ignore a client, especially when representing a luxury property. I send a note to the general manager to discuss the situation, but never received a response.
It's such a shame that a venue with so much potential is marred by such poor management and customer service. The lack of communication and follow-through left a bad taste and overshadowed the beauty of the venue. Do not waste your time.
The Goodstone Inn is an incredible place to get married. Their team is so accommodating and provides top-notch service that cannot be matched by other local venues. Our wedding was rescheduled due to Covid and they made every effort to accommodate our party and make sure that everyone felt safe and comfortable. Kylie provided great communication with our vendors and wedding planner, to ensure that the event went smoothly. Stephen provides personal and the highest level of service that our guest are still raving about. After a visit to Goodstone, you will instantly fall in love with the place.
My husband and I, like many 2020 couples, were forced to pretty drastically change our wedding plans. When we decided to go forward with an elopement with just 9 guests on our original date, we were so lucky to be able to have it at Goodstone. There was probably about a month and a half from the time we chose the venue until our actual wedding, but you never would have been able to tell with how smoothly everything went. All of the staff was wonderful - Gordon Leigh made sure everything went off without a hitch, Chef Jan Van Haute made sure the menu was perfect (and completely spoiled us at our tasting a month before the wedding) and our cocktail waiter that was responsible for keeping everyone refreshed and happy all night was very attentive and kind. On top of that, all of the guests stayed on the property and had a marvelous time. We really couldn't have asked for a better wedding day, and are forever grateful to Goodstone for making it happen.
Look no further for the most special venue for your special day! We held our micro wedding here in October of 2020. It is hard to describe how soecial Goodstone is in words. From the location, scenery, amenities, accommodations and staff this place is 5 star service! As a covid bride, having initially planned a bigger wedding - Goodstone could not have been more accommodating when a few months before we changed our plans and decided to do a smaller wedding with just 25 people. The day itself was a dream and something even better than I could have imagined! It was so nice to have all of our family and friends stay on the property which felt like a vacation for everyone. We cannot wait to go back and stay for our anniversaries and special occasions in the future.
The Goodstone Inn is pure magic. From the moment you drive up the winding, tree lined road to the Carriage House, to when you view the stunning wall of ivy, to the moment you overlook the breathtaking, rolling fields filled with golden, tall grass, to the guest homes that transport you to a beautiful, English countryside escape straight out of a movie, you quickly fall in love with the setting of the Goodstone Inn. Yet, it's not the movie-like setting that sells you on the Goodstone as the perfect venue, it's the unparalleled Goodstone staff that will convince you there is no other venue worth looking at. Gordon (GM) has done an unbelievable job in leading a team of exceptional staff - from Asheton Rose (Event Coordinator and Marketing Manager, yet more like your personal fairy godmother), to Betsy (Experience Director, bringing wedding visions to life), to Paloma (Events and Guest Services), to Ryan (Service Lead that ensures every ask you have is thought of ahead of time), to Jan (the unbelievable Chef with gifted ability), to Stuart (Service & Bartender Lead), and all of the amazing Goodstone family, it was their attention to detail and their warmth that made our decision so easy.
My husband and I were specifically looking for a venue that had an excellent food & beverage program, a remote, private setting with picturesque accommodations, and somewhere that reminded us of our travels abroad (in particular of Scotland). Goodstone exceeded all of those desires and took it a step further with their superior level of service - whether this was keeping in mind my 91yr old grandmother's mobility needs, adding an extra loaf of bread to breakfast given how much everyone was enjoying Jean Baptiste's creations, or being flexible due to COVID concerns, we felt as though they had known us for years.
Whether you are looking to have an intimate 10 person wedding or a larger, more lively celebration, the Goodstone could not be a more perfect spot.
Most importantly, our wedding turned out perfectly in all ways that mattered and Goodstone is an absolutely stunning venue. The staff is incredibly friendly and we appreciated their flexibility during COVID. Gordon the GM, in particular, is wonderful but unfortunately kind of a one-man show. We understand a lot of the communication breakdowns and disorganization we experienced may have been pandemic-related, but we disregarded bad reviews even before COVID because we just really loved the venue. We signed our contract with Goodstone a year before our wedding, and in the months between signing and the pandemic, Goodstone had already been through two venue coordinators. Day of, we were on our fourth coordinator (who was absentee until noon). Needless to say, a lot of details got lost in the shuffle, which is a stress you just don't need day-of. And we were only a 13-person wedding. If Goodstone is ever able to retain a long-term, full-time, high-quality venue coordinator, it will easily be a 5-star wedding venue.
Venue selection was the most important thing to me when I began planning our wedding. After all, if you pick a beautiful place that already has a lot of character then you barely need to spend any time worrying about flowers or decorations! I was specifically looking for a venue that felt very natural and elegant (NOT rustic as has been the trend the past few years). I also didn't want to go to a wedding venue that was designed for the sole purpose of holding events, because often those feel fake rather than genuine. I found Goodstone early on in my search, but after seeing the price, it was way outside my budget so I kept looking. However, after searching between multiple states for over a month, I couldn't find anything that matched Goodstone. Luckily, I decided to reach out to them to learn more about their wedding options and found out that they have many different options including a "Petite Wedding" for 50 people or less! Since we knew we wanted to have an intimate ceremony with family and close friends, this was the perfect choice for us. And the petite wedding option is WAY more affordable! This was the point where we finally decided to visit the venue in person and it was everything I ever hoped it would be: charming, beautiful, fairytale-like, surrounded by nature, and distant views of the blue ridge mountains. It was perfect.
Since Goodstone is considered a "luxury inn" I was a little worried I would feel out of place or that the staff would seem snooty. However, I felt completely comfortable and everyone we met at Goodstone was very friendly and went out of their way to be as helpful as possible. Our original coordinator was Mackenzie and her position was later taken over by Sarah. Both of them were incredibly helpful and never made me feel like I was asking too many questions.
Their chef is amazing. Just take a look at some of the photos of the food on their Facebook page! Do you want to have a foodie wedding? If so, Goodstone is the place for you. They grow many of the vegetables on their property and use delicious seasonal ingredients. The food tasting was definitely one of the highlights of the planning process! Also, despite have only 50 guests at our wedding, a fairly large percentage had some type of food allergy and Goodstone was able to easily accommodate all of them without missing a beat.
We decided to rent out the Dutch Cottage for our wedding night and it was adorable. It is a cute stone cottage that belongs in the English countryside. The staff also left us thoughtful touches like mini chocolate chip cookies by the bedside and makeup remover wipes and bath bombs next to the claw foot tub. Because we chose to stay on site, we got to eat a complimentary breakfast the next day, which was (obviously) delicious.
We didn't have to rent anything for the wedding because Goodstone provides chairs for the ceremony, tablecloths and settings, a podium, outdoor heaters (which we used for our outdoor cocktail hour and dancing after dinner), a speaker for music, essentially everything we needed! Their pianist also happened to be visiting the weekend of our wedding, so we had live music during dinner! If you aren't as much of a penny-pincher as I am, they also have information for a bunch of local options for everything from renting furniture to flowers, to hair and makeup.
I cannot say enough good things about Goodstone. Thank you so much for making our wedding day so perfect, easy, and memorable!
Beautiful location but can’t have music play over 80 decibels which is very prohibitive if you want a live band or dancing. I was disappointed considering you rent out the entire property.
Goodstone Inn seemed like an amazing venue choice when my now husband and I decided to book in early 2018. Unfortunately, there was a change in both general management of the venue as well as management of weddings and events in the summer of 2018, and the quality of service, professionalism, and value completely went down hill. Often my emails weren't acknowledged for weeks, or without my having to conduct several calls, voicemails, etc. We were lied to consistently about what was working or possible on the property (lighting, use of spaces, etc), and had to revamp plans throughout the last two months of wedding planning. The most disappointing part, though, was the lack of care from Laura Petrosino and the General Manager. I have never experienced so much push back and such a lack of accommodation from a venue that hosts large and upscale events. Truly, truly disappointing. To end my experience at Goodstone, I was more than double charged for my final bill after receiving no response or notice for over 3 weeks. It took me having to reach out to the venue once again, by se real different methods, to receive a response and a credit for the oversight.
Goodstone is beautiful, unfortunately the service no longer matches that of other beautiful, luxury, and accommodating venues in the area. Spare yourself the stress.
We looked around at several venues both in Middleburg and in surrounding areas. In the end, we decided to have our wedding at the Goodstone Inn because of the personal feel and attentiveness of the staff. We had a small intimate wedding at the Manor House and it was absolutely perfect. The entire Goodstone staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Austin Ankers is very responsive and flexible to working with your needs and budget. Our wedding day was absolutely amazing and the Goodstone staff made it special. The views are unmatched and the food is incredible. We are already planning our anniversary visits!
When I started my search for wedding venues, Goodstone was my very first stop. Needless to say, it blew the competition out of the water. Although it was a little higher priced than some of the other venues I visited, it had a special quality to it that felt so romantic and beautiful. We selected the Manor House package for our small wedding, and it was perfect. As part of the package, you rent the four rooms in the Manor House on Friday and Saturday night. I found this very relaxing (no need to worry about getting to the venue on time) and it almost made it feel like you were getting married at home (a very nice home with the most beautiful views you have ever seen of rolling hills). Also, when you book a wedding at the Goodstone, you are the only wedding they have planned for that weekend. This is not something you encounter at a lot of luxury inns and resorts. They make you feel like a true VIP.
The best feature of the Goodstone is the amazing landscape. You will not believe how incredible the pictures turn out. The backdrop is unreal. The area around the pool with the hanging vines is a dream location for couple shots. If you go to visit in person, I doubt you will be able to find anywhere as beautiful.
The staff at the Goodstone is top notch. The chef is absolutely phenomenal. We selected a brunch menu for our afternoon reception, and it got rave reviews from even the pickiest eaters. The eggs benedict and gazpacho were so delicious; I could probably eat them everyday and never get sick of it. The canapés were all delicious. The Virginia ham and biscuit and mini crab cakes were favorites. The sommelier was equally skilled. The wine and champagne he selected for the meal were perfect. My husband, who was firmly anti-Prosecco prior to the tasting, absolutely loved the Prosecco selected for our toast. My husband liked the Sauvignon Blanc so much he is ordering a case for our home.
Working with Dana and Linda was truly wonderful. They made themselves available throughout the wedding process to answer questions and to show us around the property. They worked hard to make the day how we envisioned it, and brought in their own expertise and experience when plans shifted. I was so nervous when it rained on our wedding day (its so hard to give up the idea of an outdoor ceremony after a year of planning), but Dana and Linda helped put together a truly beautiful indoor set up that far exceeded any expectations I had for the day. It was so beautiful and intimate, and the day was truly perfect.
I could not recommend the Goodstone more. I will be so happy to return to the Goodstone to celebrate our anniversary!
