ors. Before meeting with Governors Club I had a dozen appointments booked, after meeting Hannah and Lisa- I cancelled all the rest. From day one all the way through the big day, these two ladies took care of everything. It wasn't a stressful process at all, it was so enjoyable! I got to have fun while Lisa and her team made every idea I have come to life. The wedding day was perfect. Everything went off without a hitch, even with last minute changes to the guest list and weather not cooperating. After searching for what seemed like forever, I'm so beyond happy that I ended up at Governors Club. Thank you a million times to everyone who helped on my special day!

can’t imagine getting married anywhere else. First, if you book Governors Club, you are the only wedding they schedule for your date. Which means you have the entire venue to yourself to customize your wedding however you see fit. And the venue itself is breathtakingly gorgeous. You can have your ceremony on the golf course, terrace, in the clubhouse lobby next to a grand staircase - they will do whatever you want. And the reception hall has a giant patio overlooking the golf course and lake. Honestly, it is a beautiful spot. The wedding coordinators at the Club, Hannah and Lisa, are exceptional. While I know they were also coordinating other weddings on other weekends, It always felt as though our wedding was their top priority. They were responsive, had an acute attention to detail, and treated us warmly and welcoming the entire time leading up to our wedding. They handled last minute requests beautifully and the day-of coordination was seamless. They coordinated with all of our vendors so we did not have to worry about a thing. And we had so many compliments from our guests remarking about how kind the entire staff was. The food is also phenomenal. We had a really fun menu tasting and it was hard to narrow down the choices for our menu. It was fine cuisine versus what you are typically served at a wedding; they take the food and menu very seriously. I can’t say enough great things about this venue. We had the best wedding ever and I wish I could do it all over again. Most of that is attributed to how wonderful Governors Club is. It will always hold a special place in our hearts. Please consider this venue and take a tour to see for yourself!

The entire staff was so delightful and helpful throughout the entire process I honestly do not have a single complaint. I came into the planning not really knowing my vision or what I wanted to accomplish. Lisa was able to guide me and help me come up with ideas that made our day completely amazing. I heard nothing but rave reviews from my guests about how beautiful the venue was and how delicious our food was. My husband had a special request for a Chicken Wing bar and the chef came through with an amazing spread! :) Overall, I would give it a 10/10 and wouldn't do it anywhere else if I had to do it all over again!

to every idea that I had or any personal requests, I really felt like they understood my vision and helped me create the most perfect day! They were always so responsive to my questions, even when I wasn't able to come into the club we would find ways to connect throughout the process. The location was stunning with the golf course and the lake right outside of the club. The food was AMAZING, such a huge success! Every detail was perfect on the day of. I'm so happy we had our wedding at Governors Club! And I highly recommend it to anyone who asks. You can find a cool space anywhere- but Hannah and Lisa really made my whole experience.

club. The exclusive use of the entire club makes it ideal for all types of weather situations. We ended up doing the ceremony indoors due to rain and it didn't feel like a "Back-up Option" at all! The staff here really made it easy for the bride and groom and wedding party along with being just all around pleasant for all our guests. The bride and groom had a few unique requests and the staff was so excited about accommodating them. We also used two villas nearby that were ideal for wedding party and friends to be close by. I HIGHLY recommend The Governors Club for a wedding reception (and ceremony!).

so we needed all the help we could get with planning the wedding. Thankfully, Lisa and Hannah made everything easy for us, from the first time we met until the sparkler exit. They always answered every request we had with a "yes, of course"! Their list of preferred vendors was excellent and we used many of their recommendations. The outdoor patio where the ceremony was held is breathtaking, the ballroom is beautiful and the food was delicious! The groom and several others were able to golf the day before the wedding and said the course was spectacular. On the day of the wedding we were allowed to get ready at the club which made everything much easier for the bridal party. We were given private rooms for both the women and men, each with food and drinks. Hannah was there before we got there until the end of the night and spent the entire time making sure everything was perfect for all of us. She even got us an Uber when our bus left without us at the end of the night! Everyone working at Governors Club was so friendly and polite to us and all of our guests. I would highly recommend Governors Club for a wedding, they are so professional and know exactly what they are doing every step of the way!

and chairs/tables/etc. are taken care of by the venue, so there is no need to worry about finding a caterer or rentals. They are also extremely flexible and were able to accommodate any request we had, so I felt like we could really plan our wedding the way we wanted to. The location is absolutely perfect because there is a beautiful outdoor area for the ceremony and a very nice ballroom upstairs for the reception, with a side bar and outdoor area for the cocktail hour. The food was also amazing and all of our guests raved about it! We chose to go with stations around the room, which was perfect because guests could try a variety of food without there being one long buffet line. They have so many different options to choose from for the stations, and it all tasted great! Our experience was made even better because we were able to work with Hannah as our coordinator. I honestly can't say enough about how great she was throughout the entire planning process and the day of the wedding. Since we were planning the wedding from out of state, most of our communication was through email and Hannah was very responsive to all of my questions. She also made time to meet again in person two days before the wedding to go over all the last minute details, and she led our rehearsal the day before the wedding. Then the day of the wedding, Hannah and all of the staff made sure that I didn't have to worry about anything. Every detail was taken care of and it all looked even more beautiful than I had hoped. With the amazing location, food, flexibility, and staff, Governors Club really has everything you could want in a venue. I am so happy we had our wedding there and I would highly recommend it for anyone else!

bsolutely amazing job coordinating everything the day of as well as decorating and organizing things. Everything was taken care of by the Governor's club so we didn't have to spend a lot of time choosing a caterer. They provide all of the food, chairs, drinks, tables, settings and anything you would need. Let me tell you, the food was insanely good. The space is also great for an outdoor or indoor ceremony. You can have your ceremony out on their terrace overlooking the golf course and then your reception in their modern ballroom. They also only do one wedding per day so you have the space to yourself and all the attention on you. The Governor's Club definitely helped make our dream wedding day come true!

Chef Ben's presence for most of the event was also quite impressive and many have noted that the sushi was the "best ever" from anywhere they have ever dined. As you can imagine, being able to provide an event like this that our daughter will remember fondly as "perfect" (her words) for the rest of her life is a dream come true for us. We are deeply grateful for all that EVERYONE at the club did to make this experience a positive one for our family. Lisa and Hannah were the consummate professionals and are directly responsible for the manner in which this event was carried out. They are a tremendous asset to the club and extremely talented at what they do. We could not have had a better experience and we will forever be appreciative for this experience with the Governors Club.

The venue is beautiful, we did our first look on the bridge over the lake and it was such a great back drop. I am so glad that we chose to have our reception and The Governors Club and I would highly recommended it!

meals came out hot and delicous. The chef is outstanding. The timing of the evening went perfectly. Lisa and Hannah are the event coordinators and were wonderful. They moved furniture and accomodated every request along the way. On the day of the wedding both ladies were very hands on and made sure all details went off without a hitch. The club and the grounds are beautiful. We had guests and the bridal party staying at the on site cottages. The weekend could not of been more perfect.

I then drove 40min out to meet her for 11min. I dont think thats fair at all. I felt rushed and unwelcome and almost like a burden. Place was overbudget anyways which I later came to find out but they could have made a sale if they just gave me the time of day.

We were pleased beyond expectations. The venue is perfect and the grounds gave them some terrific backdrops for the photographer to use for their wedding photo album. You can not go wrong having your reception at this venue with this team.!

The Governor’s Club proved all of us wrong providing a flawless wedding filled with endless magical moments and memories. From the early initial stages of planning to the thoughtful and meticulously planned tasting menus, every detail was considered and planned for. A vendor list of some of the best vendors in the industry were provided and it was clear when that the vendors we selected were not only the best but had a well established working relationship with the Governor’s Club making for a seamless event from start to finish. The food at the Governor’s Club was perfectly designed for the bride and groom with Chef Ben taking into consideration their likes and dislikes. Each element of cocktail hour was beautifully created. The sushi bar was elegant and each sushi roll created was elegantly plated. The salads, main course options and dessert compliments to the cake were delicious and many guests commented on how delicious the food was comparing it to some of the best meals they have had rather then to other weddings they had attended. Lisa, Hannah, Chris, and Jay saw to it Katie and Grant had everything that they needed to make their day unforgettable. They were attentive, available and aimed to please. I can say with confidence that if the Governor’s Club is on the list of possible places to have your wedding, then do not waste your time visiting other locations. They will not be able to compete with the impeccable service, quality of food, and the unique and impossible to find location that can make a wedding day perfect.

As a bride, it was wonderful not to have to worry about all the little things on my wedding day. Hannah took care of everything. I literally just had to walk down the aisle! The menu was amazing, our guests are STILL talking about the mini-blt appetizers, and the main course was fantastic (we had rib-eye and chicken). If I could give them 10 stars, I would. We chose the GC because not only is it a beautiful venue, but Lisa and Hannah promised to make the wedding planning process as stress-free as possible. I am SO THANKFUL we chose the Governors Club. Lisa and Hannah were AMAZING and such a joy to work with. They made everything so easy. They were quick to respond to all my questions along the way, and provided helpful insight. They also worked with us to make sure the arbor my grandpa made was put in place the day of the wedding, which meant Hannah had to get the power drill out to secure it! The day of the wedding, they ran the show and everything was beyond perfect. They even handled a few unannounced guest very professionally and offered rooms for guests with infants. Our wedding was everything we ever imagined and so much more thanks to Lisa, Hannah, and the entire GC staff. They went above and beyond on everything and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us. They even made sure to bring us food throughout the evening. We had over 180 guests, and everyone we have talked to has told us how classic, beautiful, and wonderfully organized our wedding was- all thanks to Lisa and Hannah. Out of every single wedding decision we made throughout the process, we are 200% sure we made the right choice on our venue!

EVERY guest raved about the food saying it was the BEST they have ever had at a wedding. We were allowed to personalize our reception in ANY way that we envisioned and they were all so accommodating! What's exceptionally amazing, is our daughter's wedding was literally during Hurricane Matthew. Everyone kept calm and we moved the ceremony inside seamlessly, it was just beautiful! Governors Club not only provides first class service, but a friendly, warm professional atmosphere! My family can't say enough wonderful things about their beautiful venue! I'm convinced our day would not have gone so well had we been at any other venue!!

g day perfect. Governors Club was only the second venue we visited when we started our wedding venue search. We knew almost immediately we wanted to use it - the setting is beautiful, the staff was helpful, and we could have our ceremony & reception there. Lisa was so helpful to us throughout the planning process. She met with us at least three separate times and went over everything for our wedding, never missing any of even the smallest details. Every request we had was met with "YES, we can make that happen." Additionally, it was great to not need to rent tables/chair/napkins/tablecloths, etc. separately. Governors Club supplies all of that and it's beautiful. The day of, both Hannah and Lisa were there to help coordinate timing. They were unbelievably helpful to make sure the night ran smoothly. The staff as well was amazing - plates disappeared and drinks stayed filled seemingly on their own! Near the end of the night, I had a panicked moment when I realized the sparklers for our sparkler exit were still in my mom's car. I let Hannah know this and voila - we magically had those sparklers for our exit. Both she and Lisa handled our evening with smiles, patience and grace. It was clear to us they are seasoned professionals and we could not have been happier with our Governors Club experience. Furthermore, the food was incredible. Many, MANY guests told me it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. The atmosphere was joyful and our guests were dancing all night. We honestly could not have asked for a better experience with Governors Club. From the day we met with Lisa to the day we said "I do," everything was wonderful. If you are looking at venues and trying to decide if you want to use Governors Club or not, do yourself a huge favor and book your wedding here - you will not be disappointed. Cheers!

sweet from the very start. She showed us around the expansive, gorgeous venue. Before we left that day it was settled. We cancelled all our other venue appointments. From that day on I was in constant contact with Lisa about details regarding the wedding and she was so great and responsive. Any ideas that I had she was very responsive, and she also offered ideas and guidance. We had countless meetings with her and her colleagues at GC as the time of the wedding grew closer. On the big day the venue was set up exactly as I had envisioned, but looked more beautiful than I could have imagined. We had our outdoor ceremony on the gorgeous terrace overlooking the golf course and lake. The cocktail hour was indoor/outdoor. Lisa really was on top of things in terms of keeping the schedule running smoothly. Everything was perfect. I highly recommend this venue!!!

Chapel Hill area. Initially, we were very skeptical because we are not “country club” people, but the overall feel of the place, the beauty of the venue & banquet room, the high quality of the food, and the competence of the staff were all strong selling points. When visiting venues in the area, we felt a special connection with their events coordinator Lisa Johnson from the get-go. Lisa and her staff also personalized our wedding day in ways that made it feel very special and unique to us. We had specialty cocktails made by her bar staff in our names, we were given the option to use our own sparkling wine for toasts with a corkage fee (we did not opt to do this, but it was offered), and Governors was able to order a bottled beer from Michigan (home of the Groom) to serve along-side a Carolina beer throughout the evening. They also offered us the option to serve an appetizer and shooter for our guests at 10pm to keep energy levels high at our reception (it was a great idea and executed perfectly). We customized a fried green tomato appetizer and Sazerac shooter that was a huge hit at our reception. Oh yeah, we also had a piñata for the kids… The Governors club was also very accommodating to our food/dietary restrictions and needs. We cannot say enough about Executive Chef Benjamin Guaman, who customized and tailored our menu down to the cucumber. We as a couple were pescetarians, while some of our guests were vegans, and the rest were primarily Jewish or Muslim, so there was absolutely no pork at our wedding - and this was not an issue to Benjamin – he welcomed the challenge. Like the rest of the staff at Governors, he is personable and easy to work with, and his sushi is top-notch. The tasting conducted a few months prior to the wedding went very well, and we were able to personalize the menu by asking Chef for dishes to be spicier, or to add/subtract items from certain dishes based on our desires. Unlike a lot of venue tastings prior to weddings, Chef had direct communication with us and confidently expressed to us that he would be overseeing the entire operation for our 150 guests from start to finish. As “foodies” we had high expectations, and the most important aspect of the reception was great food; and the Governors Club delivered! Overall, I’d emphasize that Lisa Johnson is amazing, and her staff lead by Jay, Kristy and Chris are very competent and enthusiastic. They were very responsive to our emails throughout the process, and every single detail was addressed on the day of the event just as we wanted it. Having an open line of communication with the Chef is also a plus. They have a way of easing any day-off-wedding panic/stress you have about your event with their attention to detail and control of all situations. They also coordinated very well with our vendors, of which our DJ, photographer, our shuttle buses, and photo booth operator had never been to the venue. The overall biggest asset is that you get a team of pseudo-coordinators to help and assist you with recommendations, guidance and advice throughout the process. Again, we were very happy about the organization of the venue, and our guests raved about the quality of the appetizers, salads, food and especially the drinks/cocktails. Rave reviews!

like driving around to find a special German beer that meant something to my family for cocktail hour. On the day of, they made sure that everything went smoothly and stayed on track. I was calm thanks to them. And the food!! Chef Ben is wonderful. I would 100% recommend the GC as a wedding venue!

The other venues were all lacking in one way or another (lacking space, didn't look nice, no on site caterer and/or bar, parking problems, disinterested staff, etc) -- until we found the Governors Club. The clubhouse is nestled in among beautiful homes and the green expanse of the golf course. The inside is beautiful, and had been recently redone with new carpeting and other touches. Lisa Johnson showed us around and was knowledgable and helpful from the start. Once we decided to go with GC, Ms. Johnson stayed in contact with me throughout the whole planning process and answered any questions that arose. The GC staff is so FLEXIBLE. What we wanted, they made happen! They even let us set up tee times for people who wanted to play before the rehearsal. Their cooks are incredible and are willing to personalize any recipe to suit your needs. I was bummed that as the Bride, I didn't get to enjoy cocktail hour with all the fantastic appetizers (we were having photos done at that time) but all the guests raved about the food. I can't applaud the Governors Club enough! Beautiful grounds, incredibly helpful and friendly staff, wonderful food, alcohol on site, and plenty of space (we ended up having about 130 people). Also, it didn't feel like I was getting married on a golf course. Thank you Lisa and Staff for exceeding all expectations and making my wedding better than I ever could have imagined!

We live 600 miles from the venue and thought this might be an obstacle in planning. However, because of the professionalism of Lisa and her staff, this was not an issue. We couldn't have been more pleased with how helpful and accommodating the club staff was! We had several guests tell us that it was the most elegant event that they have attended in years! It is a beautiful venue. Several of the guests took advantage of playing golf at the club before the wedding. This is a nice amenity for people coming in from out of town. We stayed at one of the cottages onsite that is available for rent. It could not have worked out any better for our family. We would whole heartedly recommend the Governor's Club for anyone looking to have a lifetime of terrific memories.
