Gowns of Grace: A Bridal Boutique

was defeated was an understatement. It had not been going well. I couldn't find anything I liked, I didn't mesh with some of the consultants, and I was even in tears at one appointment because a consultant told me I was too picky, what I wanted didn't exist, and I just needed to settle for something they had in shop. After taking a couple of days to regroup, I found Gowns of Grace online. I went in for my appointment (still feeling somewhat defeated) and was greeted by Dani. I explained to her what I wanted, what I had tried, and what my struggles were. She picked out some dresses off the rack, and we began trying them on. With each one, I would give my feedback and explain why they did/didn't meet my dream dress. Instead of just randomly pulling dresses, Dani actually listened and got me closer to what I was looking for. Finally, we came across a dress that I really liked, but it was missing one key element - an open back. Instead of just dismissing that dress altogether, Dani let me know that essentially anything is possible in alterations, and she even proceeded to clip the dress so that I could visualize what it would look like with a revamp of the back. I still to this day do not understand why none of the other consultants/shops even presented this as an option for any of the dresses I had tried on previously. This just shows the level of care and service that GoG provides. Additionally, I had been going back and forth between a column bottom and a flowy bottom. I loved the bottom of the dress I had on, but was still unsure if that's truly what I wanted. In a game-changing move, Dani recommended that I try a skirt overlay with the dress. Not only did I love how this changed the look of the dress, but it gave me the option to have BOTH looks that I loved. Instantly I felt SO much better about the dress shopping process, but after being so defeated at all of my previous appointments, I wanted to think about this one before pulling the trigger. I couldn't stop thinking about that dress for the next couple of days, so I went back to purchase it. This time, I worked with Natalie, who was also amazing - super sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful. She also confirmed that the altering of the back of the dress and addition of the skirt overlay was possible. Fast forward to May 2021, when it was time to start the alterations of my gown. Nancy is the QUEEN of alterations. I think I ended up having eight or nine different appointments, due to completely changing the back as well as some other elements of the dress, as well as creating the skirt overlay. Each time, Nancy was so patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. She always understood what I was asking for/wanted. Even small things that I didn't notice needed to be slightly changed (like small bunching or poofing), Nancy always called out and made sure that it was fixed. The alterations team is truly amazing, and can make anything come to life! I highly recommend Gowns of Grace to any bride-to-be in the DFW (and surrounding) area. I am so incredibly happy with how my dress turned out, and I know without a doubt it wouldn't have been possible without the amazing team at Gowns of Grace! icing once we got to paying for alterations. One time Nancy handed me an invoice and stated a price and said that was all I owed. The next time I showed up, she stated I owed hundreds more than that and then proceeded to explain why, but it was never explained to me before then. Also at that point it was a week before my wedding so I had no other choice. From there, I was told there would be alterations made to the bust area and also there would be padding adding to give my bust area a boost and support. That did not happen. I had to keep pulling my dress up and adjusting my bust area because the dress kept falling. Outside of that, the dress was beautiful and felt nice to be in.

styles to choose from and really took the time to help me envision each dress I tried on. I got my alterations and pressing done with them as well and everything turned out perfect! Although postponing my wedding was not ideal, I'm excited I get to wear my dream dress twice!

We had my final fitting just before everything shut down for COVID and I had to push my wedding for 6 months. They graciously kept my dress at the salon for those 6 months so I didn't have to cram it in a closet at home. I'm sorry I can't attach photos because this dress is absolutely stunning! I highly recommend Gowns of Grace.

I bought my dress at another store prior, but went to Gowns of Grace for accessories and alterations. I wanted a specific headpiece and earrings both in gold (they only had it in silver). Without hesitation, Nancy ordered them for me and I received them 3 weeks later! Alterations: Nancy was a pro when it came to alterations. She knew exactly what to do and how to make me feel like the belle of the ball in my dress. I cannot recommend them enough!

checked off literally every box I had for my dream dress and was perfect!! (and under-budget!) When the dress came in I wanted to come back and put it on again to show the rest of bridal party. They were super accommodating and lovely and let me have such a special moment with my family. ! *this was pre-covid, but even still the shop is setup perfectly for safe/distanced shopping* Nancy was also incredible through the alterations process! I bought my dress fairly early and as we got closer I forgot about getting alterations. So even at 4 weeks away I was able to have my dress altered/steamed with more than enough time before the wedding. Overall a wonderful experience!

previous shop. The woman who helped me choose the dress was patient and very helpful but not pushy. I also did my alterations with Gowns of Grace, simply out of convenience. I was aware that the alterations would be expensive, but I was still a bit shocked by the final price. However, I did have them move the skirt up towards my bottom, so that was a big part of the alterations. Total for alterations was ~50% of the price of the dress. They provided a quote for the prices of each part at each fitting. They did a great job through 4 dress fittings! The final product was wonderful! When I picked the dress up it was in perfect condition with everything finalized and packaged nicely. The only exception was that I had them clean and steam my veil (which was borrowed from my matron of honor and a few years old) and they could not remove the dirt on the edge. However, they talked with the man who cleaned it and offered a solution to cut the trim off the end. Overall, I loved my whole experience with Gowns of Grace!

My wedding was postponed because of coronavirus, and Nancy was so helpful with storing the dress until our new date and rescheduling fittings to ensure the dress still fit as perfectly as it did for the original date. Their seamstress was also amazing and my dress fit like a glove. She was even able to repair a small hole in the lace which is now impossible to find! I would highly recommend Gowns of Grace to any bride!

We ended up altering a dress to make is strapless and they did such a beautiful job; you would never know the dress hadn’t always been that way. They worked efficiently as well and I brought my dress home 5 months after purchasing with alterations complete, and that’s with the COVID pandemic slowing things down. I couldn’t have been happier with the way my dress turned out!

nd I found my dress during my visit which still surprises me. I figured I would need to visit several stores. The store has several different designers at an affordable price and some even less than $1,000 (even $500-$600). This is a family owned store ran by a mother and daughter. The owner's daughter was my sales rep and she was great! She had me try several different silhouettes and material so I was sure I knew what I wanted. I knew I wanted sleeves and she showed me dresses that can have sleeves added to which is what I ended up doing. My wedding was in November and I ordered my dress in March of the same year so the designer's team had enough time to attach the sleeves and send it to me that way. So if you want any special modifications, I suggest you order about 8 months ahead (just my opinion, check with the store!). Nancy is the owner and was my main point of contact. She is SO nice and was very flexible with scheduling my dress fittings since I lived so far away. She explained everything she was doing and how much each adjustment costs so I always knew what I was paying and never had any surprises. I would definitely recommend them if you are searching for a dress!

When I went to my appointment to try on gowns for the first time, I had looked at their website and brought print outs of the dresses I was interested in. Nancy, the owner, was such a blessing in finding the dresses, critiquing them and giving the support every bride to be deserves in knowing what can and cannot be done. I had several alteration appointments, each time knowing I could be comfortable with the consultants and confident in the work being done. Instead of going in order to try on the next dress I picked out, she brought me a dress a little closer to what I wanted, then again and again until I found the one I wore on my wedding day! She has an eye and a talent. It was completely different than what I thought I wanted and I am thankful for her assistance during each fitting. I also found my earrings and my veil here. It was affordable, the staff was pleasant and hardworking, and they were accommodating to open early if needed.

After a moment of panic, I reached out to Nancy for a second opinion and she fixed my dress less than 2 weeks before my wedding. I should have done everything through her. She’s seriously an angel.

I came back to buy the dress after my other dress appointment that day, they realized their mistake. I ended up getting the dress off the rack and they included alterations for free to make up for their mistake. The alterations went great until they started to take in the bodice part of the dress. They seemed to resist wanting to make the back part fit better. They ended up folding over the lace part of the bodice, making visible seams. I was very concerned at this point since the wedding was two weeks away. They fixed the seams in the bodice and properly darted the fabric together, so that the seams were not visible. They mostly fixed the shoulder straps, but those seams were still visible if you looked closely. Overall, I was disappointed by my alterations experience. I assumed they would look critically at my dress and see these issues, but I had to point out the flaws and insist they get fixed properly. My dress ended up looking great except for the small issue with the shoulder seams, but my experience at my last few fittings was stressful and concerning.

Natalie was quick to offer that they had alternate seams and fabric which were exactly what I was looking for! (Something the other boutique had no knowledge of) The alternations that Nancy made to my dress took it from great to absolutely amazing, and exactly what I had envisioned myself in on my wedding day!

I only had 60 days to find my dress and get alterations because David's Bridal messed up my original gown (why would I even go there to begin with?!) and they were so accommodating. I loved every single dress that I tried on...also the dressing room is huge!! They really treat you like family, and it makes a huge difference when you are a stressed out bride! Also I have to talk about alterations: oh my god, they are experts here!! It takes several appointments because they make sure it's perfect and exactly how you want it!! Seriously, I cannot say enough good things about them. I want to get married again so I can work with Nancy and Natalie again!!

eposit. I go for my first fitting on Monday, sit down and they tripled the price.. literally would be $600 after taxes. Ended up crying and clearly very upset, the owner Nancy was absolutely rude, so unapologetic, and had a RBF the entire time. Didn’t care about how terrible and drastic their miscommunication was and frankly wasn’t going to do anything about it. I’m 6 weeks away from my bridals and asked that they still do it because my mom said she would pay the difference and that I was out of time. She agreed they would complete alterations and still do it with as much care as any other dress, then I received an email the day after saying they would no longer complete the alterations and then I needed to pick up my dress ASAP. I cannot believe someone whose name is literally gowns of grace would be so mot graceful, so rude, and so unethical. One as a human being and two as a business. Do not waste your time here. I’d say great spot to buy your dress but who know where else they might try and steal your money from, so I wouldn’t even bother. Terrible communication and lied about pricing. My mom was so gracious and said it's fine we just need to get it done at this point,. she would pay the difference. and we left my dress there for first round of hemming and then she emailed saything they cannot complete the alterations, took out the pins and I need to come get my dress ASAP. Didn't even apologize really that day either. Their consultant Natalie is super great and nice, but either she flat out lied to be becasue of her management or it was a honest mistake. If it was an honest mistake you would think, the owner would try and make something right, but clearly shes not that type of person and couldn't even get the words I'm sorry out.

have gotten on this dress are so much more than I could have imagined. The service and attention I received was next to none. Natalie was personable and so helpful. This shop did all my alterations, sold me my headpiece and veil and will now clean and preserve my dress. One stop shop. Oh and everything was perfectly on time as scheduled!

leaving early. The other reason I chose this store was because they claim to have a selection of plus size dresses but it ended up being one short wall. I did my research here, I asked questions before my appointment, I asked about the dresses I wanted to try on before I went and they ended up only having one of the five I picked off of their website. When I got there I was barely greeted and the appointment before mine was “running a little behind” which ended up being a full half hour for which they only barely apologized for and the person who I assume was the owner at the front desk had no interest in our concerns of leaving on time. Once we finally got back to the fitting room, only three of the dresses I had picked from the small wall were brought back and the woman helping me put them on was shocked the ladies at the front hadn’t told me to look at the sizes of the dresses I was picking out as they only have one size of each sample, which was clearly not my size. I tried on the first dress which was the one I really wanted to try on, it was fine. The second dress didn’t fit. The third dress I walked out to the mirror and immediately walked back in. After that the woman went to get a couple of other dresses and the first one also didn’t fit so I said thank you but I’m done. I left the store crying and no one said a word. After we had gotten into our cars the woman who had helped me try on dresses ran out to us and handed me a card for $100 off alterations. As if I would EVER go back there. In summary, if you’re looking for plus size dresses go somewhere else.

om here because the atmosphere (having the whole place to myself rather than being crammed in a fitting area like some of the bigger box stores), and the kindness and helpfulness of Natalie (ABSOLUTE sweetheart!). She never expressed any frustration with my lack of decisiveness and had such a positive demeanor which is why I kept coming back hoping to find it! Alas, I found my dress elsewhere, but I found the designer I ended up using here (Pronovias is a beautiful collection from Spain and carried by Gowns of Grace). Even though I did not say yes to the dress here, I highly recommend making a visit on your wedding dress journey! At the very least, you will enjoy the experience (way more than others) and be inspired! I may even go back there to find a veil.

After the wedding, I called asking if they recommended anyone for cleaning and preservation and they said “you can drop it off here and we have someone that can do it!” Truly a one stop shop that was fantastic from start to finish!

I had many fittings which were easy to schedule and reschedule as my availability changed. The boutique is intimate and I never felt like part of a cattle of brides trying to get my dress. I'm happy I found Gowns of Grace and happily recommend them to anyone.

’m quite short. They were amazing in suggesting I order a petite so there would be fewer alterations. My dress was PERFECT! I only needed a little bit taken up in the straps. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating. I never felt like I was being rushed out to make room for another appointment. I love that they do the alterations in house so I didn’t have to worry about finding someone else to take care of that. All in all, and amazing wedding dress experience.

The seamstresses are also superb at fitting the gowns perfectly. I have to elaborate on one more point. With my sister-in-law's veil, the dry cleaner had a major mishap and the veil was ruined a short time before the wedding, with Thanksgiving holiday right there too. They not only got the replacement veil in from London, but hand delivered it to her on Thanksgiving, and we live an hour away from them! I recommend them to every one I hear is getting married. You will not be disappointed with Gowns of Grace!

The dress came in at the time they promised. The alterations were done at the time they promised. The entire experience has been absolutely wonderful and magical for both my daughter and me. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars was that when we initially decided to do alterations there rather than take the dress somewhere else, we were told it would be one base price for any alterations needed, but that wasn't the case in the end. Ended up being much more than we expected to pay for alterations. But, my dress turned out perfect and I couldn't be happier with the results!

struggled to find the best undergarment solution. Nancy told us about the sew-in option but gave us her honest opinion about my dress. She explained my dress was actually too small for me & the chain store didn't catch that. While the dress fit well in the waist area, the bust portion of the dress was too low or rather too narrow which is why I kept trying to pull it up. Among several options given, Nancy recommended I return that dress & get a larger dress that would better fit my bust and then she could take in the waist and fix the hem issues. I was a little scared to do that because I had about 6-8 weeks until my wedding at that point, but we managed to get the new dress from the other store in time & work out a couple of alteration sessions and Nancy finished the dress about 2 weeks before the wedding. Nancy was great. The deposit for alterations/fitting-fee caught me off guard at first. I thought it would just be a one-time payment for the service I needed, but they have a different policy than I was used to. It turned out fine, though. I was fine once I learned the procedures. I spent $200-210 for what I needed (deposit went toward final payment). Alterations ended up being higher than my original budget--hoped I didn't have to have alterations, but I was desperate and Nancy's expertise was truly priceless. No one else helped me the way she did (not even the custom bra store where I bought my strapless bra). ...and finally, my aunt bought my veil and tiara from Gowns of Grace. They were beautiful. There were a number of beautiful dresses in the store. I had to refrain from looking at them since I already had mine. Cute boutique shop!

ridal salons to find somewhere that could get that dress for me. Gowns of Grace assured me it would come in with plenty of time for quick alterations. It ended up coming several weeks earlier than they originally estimated! The alterations went so smoothly thanks to Nancy and my dress fit absolutely perfectly! The staff was incredibly sweet and even stayed open a little late for me one night so that I could have alterations done. I have told all of my friends about Gowns of Grace and will continue to do so! They are the best!!

She listened to me and her alterations were perfect. I never felt rushed or like I was inconveniencing Natalie or Nancy during a fitting even if I was there for longer than expected trying on different accessories. Nancy and Natalie are amazing. They will take care of you and you will look perfect on your day.
