I had a mixed experience working with Graceful Beauty, which makes it difficult to leave a glowing review. My hair and makeup turned out beautifully on my wedding day, as did my bridal party's hair and makeup, which is ultimately what matters. However, getting to that point was a much more stressful process than I anticipated. The majority of the issues I had regarded the initial hair and makeup trial and difficulty resolving those issues with the owner, Sophia. The first trial I had did not go well. It was in some kind of Reiki/Alternative Medicine studio in a tiny, dark room that was mostly occupied by a massage table and lots of eyeball decorations. This created a very strange atmosphere for a hair and makeup trial. The only mirror was at an angle to where my chair was, so I could not see how I looked until the end of the trial. My mom and I did not like how our hair and makeup turned out at the trial, but it was hard to give feedback throughout the process because we couldn’t see how we looked in the mirror. After the trial, I told Sophia I had some issues with how it turned out and that my mom was no longer interested in getting her hair and makeup done for the wedding. Sophia insisted that my mom had to get her hair and makeup done because her name was listed on the contract. My mom had not signed the contract, so I found this to be a strange argument. Ultimately, I decided it would be easier and less stressful to switch to a different stylist, so I asked to do so. Sophia tried to pressure me to stick with the first stylist, and I felt like my concerns were not being listened to. The lesson I learned from this was that I should not have signed the contract or paid the deposit before the trial. I highly recommend having a trial before signing a contract to brides looking for hair and makeup services. Eventually, I was moved to new hair and makeup artists and I was able to swap a different family member for my mom. Thankfully, I was allowed to have another trial for free, and this trial went so much better. The hair and makeup artists were so talented and kind, and they made up for a lot of the negatives throughout the process. My makeup artist went out of her way to make sure my bridesmaids and I got the exact look we wanted, and my hair stylist did a phenomenal job with everyone’s hair. I loved how I looked on my wedding day, despite all the obstacles, but I wish there had not been so much stress leading up to it.

I booked Graceful Beauty KC for my wedding. We had 11 ladies get their hair done and 8 ladies get their makeup done. Everyone was so happy with their results! Makayla and Sabina were fast and were ahead of schedule all day. Sophia is prompt at communication. Prices felt worth the service!! Thank you all so much!
