Chris Cenci is absolutely amazing to work with, such a sweetheart. He is very thorough, patient, helpful, and calming- he is a very large part of me wanting to leave this review. He readily answered all of our MANY questions lol, and he is a pleasure to work with! Everything down to the decor/theme I had in mind was able to freely be done, no issues. I bought all of my decorations to style the room ourselves and we were able to decorate in peace the night before, as well as getting help when needed. I got so many compliments on how beautiful the room looked. One side of my family are a bunch of hard to please Italians regarding food (LOL) and everyone RAVED over how amazing the food was, compared to other catering halls! My friend is a chef in NYC for government events & parties, and at the end of the night he actually wanted to meet the chef and compliment his work. Augie was everything a Maitre'd should be; calm, attentive and a leader making sure everything went smoothly for me and my fiance, as well as the guests. I already am recommending the Grand Plaza to anyone I know who needs to find a catering hall for their event. I had an absolutely beautiful, perfect engagement party and it could not have went as smoothly if it were not for the staff. Thank you so much once again to everyone at the Grand Plaza for helping me create such a memorable happy night!

t with the manager, Chris, and he gave us a tour of the facility and a brief introduction to the staff. The venue isn't overly big and never have been married we always assumed the bigger the venue the better, right? Not quite. As Chris told us, look at this venue as your own little mansion for an intimate style wedding. My husband still wasn't completely convinced but because Chris was so nice and helpful we decided to come back and visit the venue when it actually had an event going on. We came back on a Saturday and the venue was being set up for a sweet 16. Omg we immediately fell COMPLETELY in love. The venue was transformed from a warm mini mansion to this elegant and radiating venue. The servers were well dressed and clean working swiftly to get things done. We were sold. We sat down with Chris and discussed prices and menus and time and instead of feeling frustrated or having to haggle with Chris we worked together and he made sure we would have everything we wanted. He was even more than willing to replace things we didn't like with things we did. When it came time to taste the food well.... It was OUTSTANDING! it was sooo good that we actually asked Chris if it would be ok to schedule another food tasting to allow my father to try the food since he was helping pay a bit of the wedding costs. He agreed with a smile. We got to try the food twice!!!! I never seen my father eat so much. Chris even say at the table with us and answered any questions my father had. Here comes the big day and as promised it went off without a hitch! We didn't hire a decorator. I actually went to michaels and bought everything I needed, with coupons of course, to create the wedding I wanted. And the day of every hand was on board to help me decorate the venue. All I did was give the orders. We had staff putting up my decorations in the receiption hall and staff helping decorate the ceremony hall. My matira d was nice and the bridal attendant crystals Marshal was sooooo sweet. Chris was there the whole step of the way! Our guest have been raving about the outcome of our wedding from the decorations to the staff to the food for over a year now. Every other wedding we go to people compare it to our wedding. Which I know is horrible but just goes to show the impression grand plaza had on a guest. We are from Brooklyn and got looooots of complaints of having our wedding in Staten Island. Well guess what now all we get are big grins and reminiscint looks about how great everything was. We heard the cocktail hour was excellent, which is typically the case, so everyone filled up thinking the dinner wouldn't be as great and guess what everyone was highly shocked at how consistent the food was and of course overly stuffed! Lol. The drinks were awesome the ambience was superb and I don't think you will find a manager and staff as great as Chris and his staff! t service wasn't so great when it came to actually getting things done. The event planner didn't know who I was and I never had her full attention. She would say yes but then completely disregard and ignore me. I had to say something to the manager before they got their act together. Thankfully they came through on my wedding day. They brought my vision to life and executed all the details beautifully. The staff was professional, friendly, and quick with their service. I thought the salmon was good but people who had the steak or chicken said it was dry. My now-husband's favorite dish is chicken marsala and he was completely let down. But the venue was great for our wedding type and size so we were happy with how everything turned out.

ul and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They are very easy to work with and they are truly dedicated to making your day special. My husband and I recommend this place 1 million %. Our wedding was perfect!

husband asked for a Red Bull and Vodka, but there was no Red Bull, the Maitre'D went to the store to get him some. We were waited on hand and foot as were our guests. The room was the perfect size for our 150 guests with ample room on the dance floor for everyone. No one was was rushed to leave at the end and they even arranged for cars for my parents to get back to Brooklyn. I can't wait to have another event at Grand Plaza!
