First established in 1986, Great Lakes Brewing Co. has been providing independently-crafted beer to the bustling Ohio City for over 30 years. Its location in a restored 19th-century building makes it an ideal destination for couples to celebrate their first day as newlyweds. Their largest event space, the Tasting Room, can seat up to 150 guests for ceremonies or receptions. Inside features the original exposed brick walls, a large antique bar, and vintage beer memorabilia to add plenty of old-school character. Situated on the upper level of the brewery, couples, and their loved ones can enjoy the view of the city through the ballroom's large windows. For more intimate celebrations and pre-nuptial events, you will have many other rooms to choose from. Up to 50 people can be situated in the Rockefeller Room, Beer Cellar, or Beer Symposium, with each adorning their own unique aesthetic. The Rockefeller room boasts a more sophisticated ambiance, with vintage-style lighting, reclaimed wood furniture, and beer barrel wall art. On the lower level of the pub, The Beer Cellar's original stone floors, barrel-aging room, and extensive bar area brings plenty of down-to-earth charm. In the Beer Symposium, eclectic artworks and decorative kegs make for an eye-catching pre-function room for cocktail hours.
The team's onsite event coordinators will help you during your planning process to ensure that everything goes smoothly on your big day. Staff will handle setup and teardown of your venue, giving you plenty of time to focus on the important things. In-house catering and bartending packages are included and can be customized to include your favorite tastes and treats. While you're more than welcome to choose your own vendors, Great Lakes Brewing Co. can easily connect you with their most trusted recommendations. The Great Lakes Brewing Company Tasting Room was our dream venue! We hosted both our ceremony and reception in the space. We received so many compliments on the food, including the late-night pierogies! Shannon was amazing to work with - she was so friendly from the first time we met and was extremely knowledgeable about the space. She was one of the biggest reasons we booked this venue over others! Shannon even made sure we had drinks and apps brought to us during cocktail hour. Great Lakes and Shannon handled so much, from vendors to catering to drinks, to enable us to truly enjoy our wedding without worrying about the logistics!

Incredible Venue! My husband and I are out of town (his family is from Cleveland) but Shannon and Linda did a great job communicating with us and planning everything leading up to the big day - they took care of every single detail. The space itself is beautiful and doesn't need too much additional decoration. We did both the ceremony and reception in the tasting room, the room flip was flawless and staff was very attentive the whole day. The food at GLBC is unbelievable, and we had a great PARTY!!!

Perfect event space! We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner and welcome party in the tasting room at GLBC and had the best experience. The food was delicious, the space was decorated beautifully and the staff went above and beyond. We and our guests all had an amazing time!

We did a microwedding where we live a few months ago and hosted a more informal reception/party at Great Lakes Brewery because we are both from the area. The venue and the staff (especially Shannon!) were a dream to work with. We loved the historic look of the tasting room space (especially with all of the holiday decorations). The food was great- we did a taco bar and some appetizers as late night snacks. Also, where else are you going to get 8 amazing Great Lakes beers on tap at a wedding?? I would highly recommend renting out this space for your wedding and/or reception. You won't be disappointed.

We had our wedding on 10/21/23 and could not have had a more perfect day. Shannon was along for the process and communication, and we had Toca for our day of coordinator. They were so accommodating, and made our vision come to life. The food was so delicious, each guest raved about their dishes, and how can you resist fresh beer? We cherished our day here so much.

I could rave about Great Lakes Brewing Company forever. It was the best decision we could have ever made for our ceremony & reception. The tasting room is absolutely gorgeous, so you cannot go wrong with your decor - even if you do minimal decoration, the room will simply shine. We worked with Shannon and she is the most incredible resource. She was responsive, prepared, helpful, creative, supportive, a million wonderful things! On the day of our wedding, Shannon was fixing issues before anyone even knew they existed, keeping the day on schedule, coming up with brilliant last-minute decoration & scheduling ideas - she is simply amazing. The food was incredible as well. Our guests are still talking about the pretzel chicken with the mustard sauce. We are SO thrilled we picked GLBC & the only thing we are sad about is that our wedding is over!

Our reception at Great Lake's Tasting Room was magical. We only provided a few additional decorations as the room has so much character and beauty on its own. The food was also amazing and we got so many compliments on the meal. Shannon Penix, the event coordinator, made the planning process so easy and enjoyable! We just had both our ceremony and reception in GLBC tasting room. It was nothing short of amazing!!! Our wedding coordinator was Abigail who was extremely helpful through the entire process. It could not have been any smoother. The food was delicious and they even had a cute tasting dinner beforehand which was really nice. I can’t recommend this venue enough… it’s a hidden gem for sure!!

This was a perfect venue for us! We had 75 people which was a good size for this venue. It is such a beautiful space! You could smell the hops! We worked with Abigail who was wonderful, responded to all my questions quickly and helped with set up for us day of.

GLBC is everything we wanted in a wedding venue and surpassed all expectations. We held both our ceremony and reception here (we had everyone seated at their reception tables for the ceremony) and the whole process ran flawlessly.
We planned this wedding from out of state and put a lot of faith in our vendors. Both Shannon and Abigail are excellent communicators and a true dream team. They ensured every detail was thought about and easily accommodated my schedule for visits and meetings when I did happen to be in town.
Our guests raved about the charm and character of the building. We served meatballs and pierogies during cocktail hour and had the slider bar for dinner. GLBC takes care of the food, beverage/alcohol, rentals, and linens. All I had to coordinate was our DJ, florist, officiant, and photographer. Abigail was our day-of coordinator and made sure every vendor who was doing a drop off (including father of the bride with our desserts) knew when to come and where to go. They also included a valet service for us so our guests didn't have to worry about parking.
Our wedding day was a dream and I could say great things about this venue all day long. Once I suggested this venue to my now-husband, no other venue even stood a chance. What groom doesn't want to get married in a brewery with 8 signature beers on tap?
One note to couples: the venue is up 3 flights of stairs with no public elevator. They do provide a chair-lift that can carry one guest per time up the stairs, which we used for 4 of our grandparents. Once you're up in the venue space, restrooms and everything you need are there. We had no issues with accessibility and if you do have a wheel chair guest, let Shannon know and they'll accommodate. Accessibility should not keep you from booking with GLBC.

If you are considering GLB, seriously just say YES. We worked with Shannon the majority of our planning and she made everything super easy, with a very quick turnaround time for emails. The room has a vintage romance vibe but in a brewery! We loved all the food (chicken, salmon, mac n' cheese, pierogies!) and the drinks were great. You get 8 GLB draft beers on tap, and that sold my future husband on the venue. Shannon was great to help set up all our decorations the day of, and the room was beautiful when we arrived. We are able to have our small wedding EXACTLY as how we wanted it, without needing to shell out big for a traditional ballroom. We highly recommend to anyone considering the Great Lakes Brewery Tasting Room.

This is THE PLACE to have your wedding in Cleveland - I couldn't imagine getting married and having our reception anywhere else. The Tasting Room is beautiful and has so many photo- worthy elements plus it feels much more cozy and intimate than a traditional reception hall. Throughout all the uncertainty with the pandemic, Abigail was so patient with me and our day went off without a hitch and exactly how I planned it. The food was so delicious and no on can be sad when they have GLBC beer! With all the safety precautions in place, we were able to enjoy what felt like the most normal day of this entire year!
I cannot even begin to explain how amazing my wedding at the Great Lakes Brewing Company Tasting Room was. Shannon was the event coordinator for my wedding and she was phenomenal. Great Lakes went ABOVE and BEYOND for our big day. It was beautiful, we got to take some photos in the actual brewing areas, they accepted my crazy requests, and I didn't have to worry about a THING. Shannon even stayed and helped to setup and break down. I cannot thank them enough. Our day was awesome and all of our guests RAVED about the awesome location.
I truly don't think Great Lakes knows their worth yet. I discovered the Tasting Room space because a friend of mine used to work for Great Lakes. It is priced very low for the elegance and "trendy" vibes it gives off. The pictures of the space don't do it justice. When we first walked in the space it had a very special awe factor we were looking for.
I planned my wedding from across the country but the staff made things stress free. From when we booked to our wedding day there were a few new coordinators but this did not affect our day.
The only other comment I will leave is about the brewery tours. I found it odd that they did not cancel tours while we were in the space but it didn't bother me too much. My now husband and bridal party had a stronger opinion about it. While we waited for the ceremony to begin, large groups walked through the storage room we were in. They never went into the Tasting Room but were constantly walking through the hallways. I think they need to rethink this as weddings become more popular.
My now husband and I became an "official" couple at the Great Lakes Christmas Ale Tapping in 2014. 3 years later at the tapping he proposed. When we were looking for venues we hadn't realized at first that GLBC would be an option because we didn't know about the fantastic tasting room. Once we found out and toured it we knew it would be perfect! We only had 100 guests so it was roomy enough to walk around, dance and have a photobooth, but it does seat up to 150. All of our guests told us it was the best wedding food they ever had and really enjoyed the space! An obviously great beer and wine selection as well! The only negative (from guests, not us) was that there were a lot of stairs to go up and down (we had older guests that had a harder time). They do have a chair lift available, though it ran kinda slow for some people. The only negative I could say (and hopefully they'll change this in the future) for us is that they ran beer tours during the wedding and reception so strangers were coming through the back room where the bridal party could hide out and the hallway where guests are coming and going. That one thing aside, the team at GLBC were incredible to work with. Thank you Emily and Shannon for your help through our journey! We highly recommend the venue and plan on hosting future events-including our milestone anniversaries!-in the Tasting Room. Cheers!
We had a great experience here! We worked exclusively with Emily, the event planner, and she was fantastic - prompt communication, answered all of my million questions, and was very personable. The space is rustic and not too fancy (which is what we were going for). We had the taco bar and it was awesome, everybody loved the food! We didn't have to order tables, chairs, or linens, either - it's all included when you book the room. I was able to drop off all of my decor the day before and Emily and her crew had everything set up beautifully when we got there for pre-ceremony photos! Would definitely recommend them. One thing - the venue doesn't have parking, so either be prepared to walk a bit or Uber. They do have connections with some local valet services, as well. The entrance can be a little tough to see, so we just found a cute sign with twinkle lights and stuck it outside so guests would have an easier time!
We had our reception in the Tasting Room, and it could not have been better. Emily was easy to work with, the menu choices were varied unique, and the space is beautiful. The staff that night was so nice, and they set up and tore down all the decorations I had brought. It looked exactly how I pictured. Everyone had a great time, and we’ve received so many comments about how fun and relaxed it was. Highly recommended!

We were searching for a venue that was non-traditional as neither of us wanted a hotel or banquet hall. We also wanted something that would allow us to 'dress it up' or go for a more casual look, depending on what we decided to do. GLBC was amazing to work with through the entire process. Emily was our contact throughout the process and made it very easy for us. The venue included everything (china, choice of table linens, etc), which made the process a one-stop shop.
Going into it, our ONE hesitation about the venue was the food - but it couldn't have been better! We received countless compliments on the food - pretzel crusted chicken, beef tenderloin and the overall menu was a huge hit!
We also upgraded the bar and went with the top shelf option, which guests appreciated. The bar also had a full selection of GLBC beers on tap and about 8 wines. Honestly, i was expecting to be told that we needed to select one red, and one white, but they offered all of the wines to our guest.
Throughout the night the staff was amazing. At one point, a guest broke a glass on the dance floor. Rather than stopping the dancing, the staff merely made a human circle around the area while they cleaned up and dried the floor - but what i appreciated the most is that pulled out their own dance moves while they cleaned it up. Small touch, but it made the broken glass a 'non-issue' and everyone continued to have fun.
I really couldn't be more grateful for the overall experience and would recommend it to anyone looking to have a fun "Cleveland" wedding.
