We just had our wedding reception at Green Gables on October 29th, 2022. The venue was absolutely gorgeous and they had everything set up (linens, tables, decorations included) and looking perfect after going over ever detail with Theresa before hand. All of our guests from out of town could not believe how gorgeous and historic the venue truly was. The cocktail hour was a shared indoor outdoor area which was perfect for a late fall wedding. The dining room was scenic and cozy yet elegant with the huge tree trunks surrounding the dance floor and dinner was served in a very timely manor. They were very accommodating to us from being out of town to make everything flow seamlessly. If you are looking for a venue in the western PA area I recommend checking out Green Gables.
We live in Pittsburgh and had the most beautiful fall wedding at Green Gables on 10/8! The building and grounds are gorgeous, the prices are reasonable, and we loved that we really didn’t need to add much decor to the space. Teresa was very helpful throughout the process — planning sessions, phone calls, running the rehearsal, and taking care of everything the day of the wedding. The next morning, all of our decor was packed up and waiting for us. We also rented Green Gables cabins to stay in and get ready, which was very convenient for the whole family. Our guests LOVED the venue, and many asked how we found such a beautiful place. We loved our wedding at Green Gables, and we highly recommend it to anyone!
We hosted our son’s rehearsal party last weekend. What a gorgeous venue! Everything was perfect from the food to the atmosphere to the view! Attention to detail was important to us from the beginning of the planning stages until the event itself….we can honestly say that they met or exceeded all of our expectations!
The wedding was unbelievable. Fantastic in just about every way you could imagine. The Green Gables staff was very attentive and went above and beyond to help from every angle. Reasonable pricing and great record of important contacts to help with the transportation, beer, walk-able lodging etc. Most of our guests (over 200) came from Pittsburgh and the drive seemed very doable for them in case you are a fellow yinzer and were considering the distance. Plenty of hotels in nearby Somerset as well. We can not thank the owner Teresa enough who did so much work planning everything for us and was an amazing day of coordinator. I highly suggest you schedule a meeting with her if you find yourself preparing for an upcoming wedding.
The venue was a perfect setting! Beautiful scenery. Teresa acts as the venue coordinator and has it all covered from the rehearsal, wedding day logistics, to the clean up(everything was boxed and neatly packed for pick up the next day. She helps keep the reception moving along nicely. I gave it 4 stars because the chicken cordon blue was cold and tuff.,However the flank steak was great. Wisdom- don’t choose chicken, take any special wine glasses off the bridal table after meal before dollar dance, choose a pizza bar before the night is over, have extra Captain Morgan spiced rum handles as we went through 4 of them before our meal , any cookies left over need transported home that night ( don’t dump them) ,along with gifts and cards.
We had our wedding at Green Gables as a last minute venue and it was better than what my first choice would have been. They were extremely accommodating with my decorations and helped incorporate them into my wedding. They created amazing floral centerpieces using the vessels I provided. Green Gables staff ensured the day ran smoothly by decorating, conducting the rehearsal, and day of. They quickly responded to all my questions. We were able to stay, have our wedding guests stay, have our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception all on site. All the guests were asking how I found this hidden gem! It is such a beautiful venue with excellent staff.
Our wedding was perfection--and totally stress free with the help of Teresa and Green Gables. Firstly, the venue and grounds are gorgeous. Your vision of a beautiful indoor or outdoor wedding can be met by Green Gables. Many family and friends commented on the beauty and unique qualities of the venue. They let your decorate anyway you wanted--although place didn't really need it. They supply the centerpieces with fresh garden flowers!
Teresa serves as your wedding coordinator that day. She is very organized and knows what she is doing. She made sure everyone was where they needed to be day of. Also, we had many meetings and conversations to make sure the day was perfect. She had many suggestions for vendors in the area.
The food was AMAZING. Served hot and delicious. They accommodated our MASSIVE cookie table that became a cookie room.
My husband and I stayed at a cabin near the venue owned by Green Gables. It was a nice break from the norm of staying in a hotel.
The whole day was romantic, beautiful, and stress free!! Budget wise---much more cost friendly than other venues that supply all that this venue does!!
My husband and I had our wedding reception at Green Gables last month. Everything about the venue from the delicious food to the decorations was absolutely perfect! The beautiful scenery and the elegantly rustic feel of Green Gables can't be beat by any other venue! This perfect wedding venue would not be possible without Teresa, Anna and the other staff at the restaurant. I cannot thank them enough for making our special day amazing.
Teresa and Anna did a wonderful job. They were very detail oriented. No matter what question I had, they had the answer. They returned my calls and emails promptly.
Had several people say this was the most romantic and beautiful place they have ever been too. I could not say enough about the beauty of this venue, food was perfect, and it was just what we wanted. Thank you making it such a wonderful stress free day.
My husband and I had our own wedding reception at Green Gables over 40 years ago and loved it then. When our son decided to have a family wedding in PA in order to accomodate family from the PA area (although we all live in other states), we immediately thought of Green Gables. We were so happy that they were able to schedule our event. Overall, we had a absolutely wonderful experience! The help and advice we were given in planning a "long distance" wedding reception was very important to the success of our event. We feel that all the staff who interacted with us were extremely skilled and professional with their responsibilities and all was organized well and went so smoothly due to their expertise. All the wait staff were so helpful and accomodating that night. The atmosphere was wonderful and both the bride and groom were so happy and pleased with the decor and attention to detail. Our cookie table was fabulously done by the staff and looked so elegant! Our food was also delicious and all the options we had were given rave reviews by the guests. Overall, our wedding was just wonderful and can best be described as very classy but comfortable, not stilted at all and just full of personality. We are very grateful to all the Green Gables staff from the wedding planner to the bookkeeper to the banquet staff and chef for a truly memorable and wonderful experience. Thank you all so much!!!
From the minute we started planning our June 2017 wedding at Green Gables, we felt so at ease. Teresa helped us with every step along the way, giving recommendations and suggestions from her many years of experience. The planning meetings we had with her were efficient and productive. No detail of the day was left unaddressed. As my husband and I are not the most detail oriented people, it was a huge relief to have someone help us with all of the fine details at no extra cost. Teresa was very accessible via text message when I had any questions or concerns. The day prior to the wedding, we brought all of our decorations and cookies, explained our vision for the day to the head of the grounds crew, Cindy, as well as the banquet captain, Tammy, who would be orchestrating the reception. We did not have to worry about a single thing and did not need to have family members or friends come in the day of the wedding to set things up. The centerpiece flowers are included at no extra cost, and there was not fee to rent the banquet hall (The Tuscany Room) for the day. The grounds are breathtaking and enchanting - we hardly had to bring any decorations, as the hall and the patio are already beautiful as they are. The food was delicious, and our guests are still raving about the corn chowder soup almost a month later. The service was wonderful - quick, efficient, and professional. Tammy and her crew did a great job of getting all 160 of our guests fed within about an hour. We could not be more happy with our choice to have our wedding at Green Gables.
We had our August 2016 wedding here. This venue was perfect from start to finish. The staff and surrounds made it as though we were floating through a dream all day and all night, I would recommend in the highest to all!
Such a beautiful venue and the wedding coordinator made sure everything went perfectly!
This venue is an absolutely beautiful place to have a wedding. My wife and I were just married there 3 weeks ago and we couldn't be happier with both the venue and the staff.
The owner was also great as she agreed to help us serve our guests breakfast for dinner while not charging us for a dinner rate, rather she kept the brunch rate per person. This made the venue and absolute steal for us.
We had 200 people at the wedding, and I didn't hear one complaint. In fact, I heard the exact opposite. There was nothing but high praise, even weeks after the wedding. I know what you're thinking, "Yeah, you just got married and no one wants to tell you they had a bad time etc etc" but I've asked people who I know will tell me the truth and I believe they have.
My only recommendation would be to have the DJ bring his own sound system. This sound system MUST include a power conditioner as they have most things in the main room running off of one or two circuits. They say that they have "an exceptional sound system" but in reality, it is sub par and has no sub-woofers. I knew this going in, and so we had the DJ bring his own, and it sounded amazing.
Overall, I would suggest to anyone to have their wedding at Green Gables. It is an incredible venue with dedicated (yet somehow invisible) staff that goes the extra mile to make sure your day runs smoothly. AWESOME PLACE!
Green gables is a very unique and beautiful place to have a wedding that's for sure! The place to rent is reasonable except you have to use their catering and food which is EXPENSIVE so this place is nice for small weddings. The food is good though! Also the place needs to invest in air conditioning. The place is good for pictures except when it rains then your limited plus it's so dark inside we had problems. Coming from a small town and wanting something different I'm happy green gables was an option and was happy with my choice.
Small wedding. Very close family and four friends. 32 ppl including B&G. The waitresses never served drinks....alcohol for adults or juices for the 7 kids there. Bride ask for twinkle lights..can be dark inside...they never put them up. They told me (the bride) that they would inform me of other weddings in the same day. They never did so I had to get makeup on, do my hair , and put on my dress with 50 , not so easy buttons , on. I was then rushed out of the room with ALL of my belongings, so the next bride could get ready. I went to a couple meetings to go over things...sent many many emails with any changes and at the end of it all... I , the bride, was handing out cupcakes and hunting for a waitress to get my family drinks and...well me too. They gave me one glass of water all day. So infuriating and at the same time I felt bad for those who came and felt pushed out. We were to have the place til 4:30 but the groom and I were the last ones there because the next wedding was already all set up. Meaning bridesmaids were on the back patio where our families once were trying to socialize. Disappointed with all!
I know it was a small wedding but it was important to us and our families.😢
I would never suggest this place to ANYONE. Thank goodness we had our own photographer!
They are too pricey for the service ... But hey maybe they will pay attention to someone with a 300 person wedding. You can chance it!
We didn't want a cookie cutter reception venue for our December 6, 2014 wedding - we wanted someplace memorable with character and we got that and more with Green Gables. We had our ceremony at the Mountain Playhouse Theater next door and our reception in the Tuscany Room and it was GORGEOUS! The room was decorated for Christmas and it looked like a winter wonderland. Our photos are gorgeous, people had an amazing time, the food was delicious and Teresa and her staff were incredibly accommodating and easy to work with and they had tons of fun ideas for making our wedding unique and fun.
I had both my ceremony and reception at Green Gables. We were extremely pleased with their organization, attention to detail, and service. Teresa, the owner and "wedding coordinator" at Green Gables met with us twice to have "detailed meetings" prior to the wedding, and was available any time we needed her. In addition to "normal" services - catering, bar service - Green Gables provided linens, napkins, and centerpieces at no additional cost. Also - they do not charge extra for cake cutting (unfortunately, most places do!). They do however charge a traying fee if you provide your own cookies, but it was rather minimal. Teresa was professional and EXTREMELY organized and prompt. My wedding was planned to start at 4:30 and she made sure it started promptly at 4:30!! (I think its the first wedding I've been to that DID start on time! When it started to rain, Green Gables had numerous umbrellas available and ready for the wedding party and guests to use - it was something that I hadn't even thought of, even though I knew it was supposed to rain. It was a nice touch that I really appreciated. Dinner was excellent, and all of my guests were pleased with the service they received by all of their staff. Only disappointments of the day -- which are very minimal-- we planned on having plum napkins and a fire pit for guests to roast s'mores in, but the napkins (they were renting them) did not come in in time and they forgot to set up the firepit. These were details that I wanted, but nothing that the guests missed or really cared about. And Green Gables credited me for both of these "issues" on my final bill, which I really appreciated. The only real down side to Green Gables is the lack of air conditioning - I was hesitant about this having an August wedding. Even though it was hot outside day-of, inside the main room stays rather cool due to the stone construction - And the staff set up fans around the room after all of the important events and pictures had occurred. Love!
My husband and I couldn't have been more pleased with Green Gables as our reception venue. I don't know of a venue that has as much character and atmosphere. It really was the perfect stage for our romantic fall wedding reception. The staff's attention to detail was much appreciated and saved us from worrying about all the little things. The food and service were superb. I would highly recommend Green Gables for your event.
When we first came across Green Gables it was the middle of winter, and we were welcomed by a warm fire. In the summer, the setting is equally inviting, with a delightful garden, amazing food, and a sincere staff. Green Gables helped to make our day incredible!
Green gables is so beautiful and the food was amazing! One of the biggest downfalls however is the wedding coordinator. I always thought she could be sort of rude but it was never to bad until the rehearsal. She was rude to every person there including my pastor. Totally embarrassing and rude! However, she did make sure everything was perfect and it was a beautiful day if you can look past that!
Our wedding was beautiful and personal. We held both the ceremony and reception on site. Our ceremony was outside on the patio and the reception occurred in the ballroom. The food was fabulous, and the architecture and atmosphere so lovely that we didn't worry about having to add any decorations. The Green Gables staff and our wedding coordinator walked us through every step of the process. They were kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. There was ample parking, and since in a cabin a 3 minute walk from the location (also own by Green Gables) our "getaway" was by lantern across a stone bridge. Lovely all the way around.
I just had my ceromony here. It was beauitful and the staff was very helpful. I just felt a little rushed on the ceremony because we were a smalll wedding party and there was a big one coming in.
Stunning grounds and room. Food was good. NO AC. Dead of summer. I went to 5 weddings last summer and we refer to this one as the hot wedding. You couldn't even be inside, stiffling.
I was amazed how perfect this location was for our wedding venue. My wedding was Vintage Tuscany, and it could not have been a better fit. The ceremony on the patio was beautiful, and the picture opportunities were amazing. I highly recommend this location.
No doubt, the venue is absolutely stunning. I couldn't get higher rave reviews from my guest on the venue. The personality of the space cannot be compared to anything else like it and the food is good too! I had a wedding of 118 guests with a 6 piece band and the room was the perfect size. I would not recommend putting 200 guests in this venue because the character of the space will not be able to shine through.
The ONLY reason I give Green Gables a sub par review is because of Teresa, the venue coordinator and, I believe, owner. I could tell she was a little "off" when I was working with her at the time of placing a deposit for our date but everything went smoothly up until the day before our wedding at our rehearsal.
We had our rehearsal at Green Gables because our ceremony was there. She was offended that I wanted the chairs aligned so I had a center aisle to walk down, but after a bit of tension she decided to realign them so we had an aisle. Then, I was mortified when she raised her voice to yell at my pastor in front of my wedding party and close family about the way we wanted to handle the dismissal of our guest. I was so embarrassed and wondered why this mattered to her in the first place; my pastor has done about 100 weddings. As my husband and I were the last ones out the door to head to our rehearsal dinner she handed me a bill for the entire wedding less the bar bill! As you can imagine, knowing exactly how big of a check you will have to write out the next night to pay for your wedding really took a lot of fun out of the night and next day. I thought it was very unprofessional.
The next day as I was on my way to Green Gables to get married she called and told me that she had to cut my 6 piece band down to a 3 piece because they wouldn't fit. I told her exactly how large of an area they would be needing. We spent a ton of money on our band and they traveled from 5 hours away to play so for her to feel like she could just "cut them down" made me very mad.
When I arrived to Green Gables I wanted to see how beautiful the reception tables turned out and she told me I couldn't go see them! I thought I was the bride...
She wouldn't turn the lights down on the dance floor later that night at my request until my husband had to raise his voice with her. My wedding cake from Oakmont Bakery never got cut and served. All my guest thought it was fake. They also didn't take the top tier off for us to preserve for our first anniversary and they ruined the entire cake by throwing it in a box. All the tiers fell apart and it was an entire mess the next day :(
I would not recommend for brides to not have their wedding there, but if you tend to be a wallflower and don't speak up about what you want it will quickly turn into the "Teresa's Day" and not yours. All the other staff at Green Gables were amazing, very professional, and attentive to our needs!
I went as a guest to a summer wedding at Green Gables back in 2007 and fell in love. The enviroment and backdrop of the venue is just awesome. The rustic and "in nature" feel of Green Gables is so inviting. It was always tucked in my mind what a wonderful time I had.
Fast forward four years, my husband and I just got married on Dec 11, 2011 at Green Gables. The change of season to winter and right before Christmas made the venue even more magical. The fireplaces were going, two floor to ceiling Christmas trees, tons of white lights and candles. I JUST couldn't have asked for a better backdrop.
Teresa was EXTREMELY helpful and catered to all my individual touches. She was strong in her opinions and helped guide me to a smooth wonderful wedding day. She kept everyone in line, which is just what you need as the bride busy with other things. She even helped to calm me before walking down the aisle. Just a terrific person!
The food was great and kept hot. The alcohol was a bit pricey but for all the other things I saved money on, I did not mind.
I heard nothing but compliments from my guests and can't wait for pictures. I highly reccommend this venue! I'd do everything the same way again if I could.
Overall, we loved the location and the beautiful rustic setting. Food was amazing and drinks were very good. Some problems with rude staff members and some organization problems. Teresa was great to work with though! So easy to talk to, she knew what she was doing, organized well and kind.
Green Gables is a beautiful place. The grounds are gorgeous, making it a great place to take photos. The inside is beautiful also: a lot of wood and stone, with pillars that look like tree trunks. The food is absolutely amazing, though on the expensive side. For a small wedding, it isn't bad. They also provide linens and floral centerpieces for free. And the wedding coordinator, Teresa, makes things run very smoothly. If you have a small guest list or a large budget, I'd definitely recommend it.
We had our wedding and reception at Green Gables. It is such a beautiful and unique venue! We pushed our wedding back a whole year just so we could have it here and we're so glad that we did!
Excellent service and wonderful food. I was wanting sort of a rustic primitive setting and this was just the thing. It turned out wonderful!
I loved that I was able to match my indivdual personality with my venue; The only thing that i would warn other brides is that we picked the place because we wanted to have wedding outside however it rained. Everything went well and was very nice but i was disappointed.
