ng! The staff was extremely professional and well-organized. Coordination and communication were top notch. Katie was great to work with. She always got back to us quickly and answered all of our questions. There was some confusion over it being a wedding reception and that is a different price than a private party dinner just FYI. Katie met us at the venue and made sure that the room was set up just how we wanted it. We were allowed to bring in flowers and high top rented tables and our cake lady was allowed in early to set up. Kenroy was our one and only server and everyone was BEYOND impressed with him!!!! He didn’t miss a beat-served all drinks, delicious bread and scones and salads, the main meals and did the cake service flawlessly and quickly. He was cheerful and outgoing with everyone and answered everyone’s questions with ease-I’m not kidding, you would think there were 5 people working our room-so many compliments on Kenroy!!!!!! Also so many compliments on the amazing food quality, we chose prime rib, chicken Marsala and whitefish-everyone, no matter what they chose, enjoyed their meal thoroughly. Highly recommend!!! We will be back soon!

big day. Doing a taste test to choose the menu was a fun experience and they are so open with any ideas you have and flexible with any dietary needs for your guests! Grey Gables is very experienced which makes the process so simple with well-organized information packets and great recommendations. The food was definitely a win as we got many compliments on it and the staff day of was incredibly sweet! They even made my husband and I an extra plate after they put the buffet away since we got busy hosting and didn’t each much of our meal. The bartenders also did an amazing job keeping up with everyone and even learning certain people’s orders so it was a breeze when they went up for another. They also take care of cutting your cake and boxing up any leftovers for you at the end of the night which was so appreciated! I would highly recommend Grey Gables' catering and bartending services for your event.

We played it a bit risky serving soup in the Fall, and understood that it could come out cold - it didn't! We heard great things from our guests with dietary restrictions. Katie provided cost saving suggestions during the planning that we implemented. As the wedding got closer it became a bit hectic working with Katie. At the end of the day she accommodated what we needed and the quality of the food was what we asked for. We would recommend Grey Gables if your considering getting married in the area. We also recommend eating at their restaurant if you're in the area. Great atmosphere, food is excellent, and their portions are satisfying for all.

We really appreciated how familiar GG was with our venue as they answered all of our questions, even if they weren’t directly about the catering. GG was great to work with on our tight budget and they were willing to honor the first quote we got that was before their fees increased. Our guests enjoyed the food and the level of professionalism of the catering! My husband and I were surprised by all the extra fees on top of the actual food package, as they really added up, making GG the most expensive caterer we considered. I was slightly disappointed with a few things at our reception: GG was generous enough to individually serve me (the bride) salmon, but I was disappointed in it. It wasn’t nearly as good as the salmon we sampled at our trial—it seemed to be unseasoned and just steamed. The vegetarian option that was served seemed to be little more than quinoa with a sparse number of veggies thrown in, and didn’t live up to its yummy description. Additionally, we chose the seasonal vegetable side but the veggies were again, just plain and steamed. GG didn’t allow us to sample sides so we had to trust that the sides would be good, and I was slightly disappointed. I don’t know that I’d choose GG over again because of the prices and my small issues, but I am a bit of perfectionist. Katie was very responsive to our emails which we appreciated! We were so thankful to have GG donate their time and food and service to us, and we’re so grateful to them.

We did a tasting before the wedding and everything we tried was very yummy, plus it was cool to be the only ones in the restaurant before it opened. The food day-of was also very good, and they were incredible with making sure everyone with dietary restrictions got the food they could eat (including me, making me a plate with no dairy!). We also got a s’mores bar for dessert, which was a huge hit. Pricing was reasonable and very straightforward. Everything was well managed and well communicated in the weeks before the wedding and the day-of. We ordered 2 kegs of beer through them, supplied our own hard liquor and ordered wine through the Castle. We sent recipes for our signature cocktails beforehand and they were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend working with Katie and the rest of the staff at Grey Gables for your wedding!

While we were decorating the reception space, I had the chance to say hello to our caterer. I thanked her and said to feel free to let me know if she or her team needed anything. And she said, "We won't" and continued on with her business. What a perfect day-of response! She was basically saying that 'We are 100% prepared and won't need anything' and 'We certainly won't tell you, the bride, if we do.' I couldn't be happier with Grey Gables services!

We also hosted our rehearsal dinner at Grey Gables in their private dining room. It was a great way to kick off the wedding festivities, complete with a special dessert!

The food was warm as they used warmed plates, the service was impeccable and their bartending service was surely some of the best of Northern Michigan wedding caterers. We had a "His" and "Hers" cocktail both with specific ingredients as well as recipes. Grey Gables was able to make these with ease along with an extensive cocktail menu that we provided beforehand that we wanted guests to be able to order. They showed up on time and were setup early, ready to go with restaurant level service and bartending. If you want the best wedding food and bartending you can get, this is it. They are able to execute on specific requests and for their service, the price gives you great value. I expected a lot from them, and they exceeded my expectations. It's difficult to serve 170 people in a timely manner with delicious food and drinks, but Grey Gables is definitely a team you can trust to get it done!

ad! Grey Gables also made accommodations for our vegan/gluten-free guests, which was appreciated. The reason for the low rating is that I struggled with how they communicated with us. Communication was not terribly prompt, and seemed brisk. When we were negotiating the menu, I felt like my requests were treated as something outrageous. When I ended up decreasing my guest list a few months away from the date, they barely adjusted the price. Staff on-site at the reception was friendly, but the coordinator supervising them wasn't exactly warm. Overall, the food tasted good, but they weren't exactly pleasant to work with.

Once I booked the venue I booked grey gables. We don't live close by so once we we're able to take time and make it to Charlevoix to try the food, I was amazed even more. The food was delicious, we ate every bite of it wishing it wasn't gone. We went with the plated chicken and beef and the presentation of the food was great. Along with having them as our caterer we also used them as our bartenders for the wedding and they were all very friendly and always had a smile on their faces. After the wedding many of our guests complimented the food. Everyone loved it!

taken away without anyone asking, I barely ate anything because we were constantly being interrupted at our sweetheart table! I was hoping to sneak bites in when the band started but my food was gone. Also they had packed some food up of no shows but did not label anything and it got shoved under boxes and not found till days later which was disappointing. But otherwise very good and highly recommend!
