Grey Rock Golf Club

Grey Rock is such a beautiful setting...under the lush Live Oak trees with a backdrop of green and a shimmering pond. It was beautiful with a lovely tented area with fans, an indoor area, and a nice big stage and dance area. There were a few problems, but mainly with the event coordinator. When the initial plans were made, the club had a different event coordinator who wound up leaving for other employment. My mother had been working with the new person. A couple days before the wedding we all sat down and went over the details together. When it came time for the big day, just prior to the event, the centerpieces had not been arranged on the tables. The favors were not set at the tables. The cake toppers and flowers were not given to the cake lady to put on the cake, so my cousin and my aunt had to do it. Some of the outside areas were very dark and had uneven ground (one of my bridesmaids caught her shoe and fell, causing her to get 5 stitches). The event coordinator was not properly dressed for the occasion (daisy duke shorts and a t shirt) nor did she stay the entire length of the event. Also, after cutting the cake, nobody finished cutting it and plated it for us as specified in the contract. My husband cut and plated all of it. However, we had a very sweet bartender/server named Bonnie who was AWESOME and came to the rescue, quickly and quietly resolving all of our qualms. She should have been the event coordinator. All in all, things turned out well as most of the things that were issues were only noticeable issues to us (bride, groom and family who planned it all). Thankfully, Bonnie got all our favors put on the tables while people were watching the dances and prior to any of the older folks having to leave. This is a beautiful venue and my brother and sister's wedding here was beautiful as well. I think our issues were because of a new and not very prepared event coordinator. However, the food is good, the venue is beautiful, the flow works and the price includes all your tables, chairs, linens, dishes and silverware. They also served a small signature drink for people to cool off with on their way from the reception area to the cocktail hour. And total price with all of this is less than half of what you would pay just for other venues, not to mention getting nickeled and dimed to death.
