Hale Farm and Village was everything I could have dreamed of for our special day and more. The beautiful site was unique and every guest raved over the location. Even with the rain, it was stunning. Our wedding was on 9/28/24 so the property was open to the public during the day, but not very busy. We used the east side of the property and it was beyond picture perfect. The pavilion set the most perfect vibes for our reception, and the area behind the Herrick House was a dream come true for our ceremony. My husband and I did a first look and private vows in front of the yellow house, and were able to take photos on the entire property. It was MAGICAL to say the least.
But this review is mostly for the AMAZING Miss Dotty.
About two months before my wedding, I was notified that the person I had been in contact with and had been planning with was no longer with HF. Obviously, I was stressed and nervous to say the least. But once Dotty was brought on, and after one meeting with her my fears subsided. This amazing person did EVERYTHING in her power to help me achieve the wedding of my dreams. She came up with solutions to any issues, she offered ideas and thoughts for any question I had. This woman worked her butt off the day of my wedding!! With the change in staffing, and promises made from the prior, Dotty went above and beyond to make things happen. She also had a second wedding on the west side of the property the same day, and Dotty seemed to always be around when I needed something.
When my ceremony was 45 minutes late... no fault of HF or Dotty (family drama)... and I was on the verge of a breakdown, Dotty came over to me and asked "you want to hear a funny story?" and continued to tell me something funny to distract me, and make me laugh. She made sure I wasn't too shiny from the stress sweat, and helped get things back on track. At one point she had the help of a young man named Alex (I hope that's right) who was just as kind and helpful as she was. Both helped with set up, and tear down. Alex helped fluff my dress before I walked at the ceremony as Dotty was closing and opening the entrance doors for me. They both seemed to make sure that everything could go as best as it could. I know for a fact this day would not have happened, and would not have been as amazing as it was, if not for Dotty. She is a superhero.
Hale Farm and Village was truly a dream come true venue for us and our special day. But Dotty was a rock star and I am forever grateful for her, her hard work, and her kindness from the moment I met her. Thank you!!!
Hale Farm & Village offered a beautiful venue for us to get married at. We chose a Friday and we used their “micro” wedding option which was perfect with having a guest list less than 75 people. We opted to use the Gatehouse as it was a July wedding and you never know if it’s going to 100 degrees or raining. We had free rein to use the entire venue to get all the pictures we wanted and were even golf carted around so we could get all those fabulous pictures!!
The disappointments came with the lack of communication with the venue coordinator who also was going to be our officiant. Emails were rarely returned. I emailed several times about finalizing my ceremony with no reply and ended up not finalizing it until the day of rehearsal.
Due to the lack of communication I ended up hiring a planner, it was made very evident by the venue coordinator she did not like the fact I hired a planner. My planner also stated she had the same issues with getting responses from the venue coordinator.
Another issue is that we decided to rent chairs for the reception. They have a preferred vendors list and we used their vendor for chairs. They were nice enough to allow us to pick up our belongings on Saturday and that is when I found that the chairs that I had rented were then being used by the Saturday wedding. When my husband asked the venue coordinator about this she said well “I am storing the chairs for you.” We went through their preferred vendors and what the arrangements they had set up was between them, not us. My problem came as if what if we were short a chair or something had been damaged by the other wedding? That was my name on the contract. And it’s not like I was given nicer chairs for my wedding for free.
UPDATE - within minutes of my review I received a very unprofessional text from the venue coordinator.
We wanted to love this venue far more than we did on our wedding day. We absolutely loved the foliage surrounding the site, however, we were let down as there was several things we were told over a year prior to our wedding that were going to be fixed, including the stairs leading to the church, and bridal getting ready area. Then there was a large area next to the stairs that were torn up, that was just dirt that was "covered" by 4 mum plants, that were just sitting out still in their black nursery containers. There was also a school tour the day of my wedding, which we were notified would happen. But rather than redirect the children to use the bathroom in the barn that is more easily accessible, they were told to use the bathroom in the bridal suite. My friends/family had to intervene and spent excessive amount of time attempting to locate the venue coordinator, Debbie, who we were told would also be our day of coordinator, who were then told "well we have another event" without a solution offered. In addition, we were double booked for our rehearsal time, rather than having one couple at 5 pm and the other at 6, we were scheduled at the same time, and Debbie spent her time with the other couple, so she was unaware of how our day would run. To make matters worse, she put out the incorrect alter, and when my husband addressed this, he was told that they didn't have the one they set out when we were provided options, however, he was adamant we still preferred the one we chose, the response he got was "well this one is easier for us to move." My husband insisted we get the one we requested, as this was in our wedding vision, and they did eventually switch it out. Then comes the time of our ceremony, and I was notified by my privately hired wedding planner/day of coordinator that Debbie left for the day, before our ceremony began. So, we did not receive that service, though it was mentioned in our wedding contract that she would be coordinating the event. In addition, we were told if we ended our event by 11:00 pm, the venue staff would assist us in cleaning up our decor. Rather, they sat in their cart or off to the side and watched as my husband and I, with our family, cleaned/moved/carried everything to the cars in the pouring rain, with me still in my dress. I had amazing vendors, but this by far was the biggest let down. Be advised future brides, that there will be difficulty contacting Debbie throughout the planning process and day of, which will lead to some unfortunate headaches day of.
We LOVED our wedding at Hale Farm and Village. It was a perfect setting for our vintage inspired wedding. Debbie was so easy to work with and really made everything go so smoothly. Highly recommend.
We loved our wedding ceremony and reception at HVF. Everything turned out amazing and the scenery was perfect!!
Hale Farm was a gorgeous venue. It was unique, historical, and very good for wedding day pictures. Debbie Crain was the best ever day of coordinator and really helped with the renting of Hale Farm, and also every little detail that can drive a bride crazy. My first impression of Debbie and the Hale Farm staff is that they are warm, fun, and great at what they do! You will be in good hands at Hale Farm! I cannot reccomend this venue enough. I really enjoyed our wedding day here and hope to be back again!
Hale Farm was absolutely incredible through the entire process. Becca was always quick to answer emails whenever I had questions and made planning trips to the venue so easy. And then the actual wedding couldn't have been more beautiful. Our photographer had a blast with the gorgeous scenery. I'm sure Hale Farm is beautiful all year round, but if you're specifically looking for a fall wedding, you won't be disappointed by how beautiful the grounds are here. It was truly the perfect day.
We rented Hale Farm (east side) for our wedding celebration/re-do. Becca is a great communicator and was very responsive. The venue itself is beautiful. There was a small problem with the GFI outlets in the Pavilion tripping when the DJ turned up the music, but it ended up getting figured out and we had a great party! Becca and her team are professional, courteous and helped us have a great time. Thank you! If you're on the fence, book them!
Had a magical day at Hale Farm and Village and Julie put up with a surprise band, my family, spontaneous rain, I didn't notice a thing. The meeting house was gorgeous and perfect for a ceremony and we added lights and some florals to the visitor's center which made it shine. Everyone loved the space and we got amazing photos! We had hoped for a bonfire/lanterns but they were not lit-so just be very clear what you need done by venue. We enjoyed having our day in November, thanks Julie for letting us come and set up early. She was very helpful and her team helped with set up a lot. The place gives you so many options and 200 guests fit very well in the space. Their caterers are great too.
Wow. I didn't think I would enjoy setting up our ceremony and reception, both of which were at Hale. Julie Spicer, the rental manager, was a pleasure to work with. She even managed to hook us up with an arch like a week before the ceremony because we'd forgotten about that! A wonderful communicator, she was in touch regularly until everything was set just as we needed.
The rest of the staff handling things day of were incredible. We had a personal escort around the grounds to help with photos, who was also kind enough to keep us supplied with water in the 90 degree sunlight. Whenever we were in danger of running over the planned itinerary, someone literally appeared at my elbow to let us know and offered to help move things along.
Guys. Thank you. It was beautiful, everything was amazing. Everyone commented on how beautiful a venue it was. And it really was.
Hale Farm and Village is a beautiful venue!!
Johanna, the rentals coordinator at Hale Farm &Village, was extremely helpful!! She went out of her way to answer questions and meet with me to ensure the best day possible, which would not have happened without her help! She went out of the way to make sure we were taken care of and on time with all of our events!! She is great at what she does and our day would not have went smoothly without her help!!
We had our ceremony on the patio of the Gatehouse, so our ceremony was still outside yet we got to enjoy the natural beauty of the venue. We also got to take our pictures around the property which meant we got to enjoy the beautiful setting and the houses. We had our reception inside the Gatehouse which was also a beautiful setting as well!! There is an overall rustic feel with beautiful views outside. There is room for a good amount of people and a dance floor. We also had a buffet in the room and there was still plenty of room for everyone.
Hale Farm & Village is a wonderful and unique venue that will have a special meaning to us for the rest of our lives!! Our guests were very excited to come see the venue as well as to attend our wedding. I would recommend Hale Farm & Village to anyone!!
I had my wedding at Hale Farm and Village on the pavilion side and it was absolutely amazing! The planner at Hale Farm was amazing and helped me with any questions I had. The planner at Hale Farm is not a wedding planner though, she is just the events coordinator so it is a venue where you have to do some stuff on your own which was fine with me because it was affordable to rent. We did our own flowers so this is part of the reason why we had to coordinate our own flower setup. We were also allowed to bring our own alcohol which saved a tone of money! The weather was perfect for our big day which made the landscape absolutely amazing at Hale! I would totally recommend this venue to anyone who loves nature, is on a budget, is okay with doing some organization on their own and values natural beauty over a ballroom. The relaxed feel of the venue allowed our guests to have an amazing time and not feel that they had to behave uptight like at more formal weddings which is totally what we wanted! There was something for everyone at Hale Farm so even if someone was not a dancer, they could go outside and enjoy the beautiful view.
One of the reasons that we chose Hale Farm to get married, besides being a beautiful property, was because of Johanna and their staff. Johanna was able to answer all of our questions upfront when we first visited. She was quick to respond on any other additional questions throughout the year before the wedding. When we met for our final meeting before the wedding, she offered up great suggestions to us. The day of the wedding was a 90+ degree day and we were able to utilize the entire property for pictures. Johanna stayed with us the entire time of pictures, which was a few hours, and made sure we had everything that we needed and told us about different locations to go to which was so helpful. She even managed to hold our purses for us and watch our stuff as we walked around. She coordinated with all of the vendors to make sure they had what they needed and knew all of the details. She made sure the guests were comfortable and had them stay inside until the beginning of the ceremony since it was so hot outside. She even helped my Mother with the bustle of my dress and brought me a plate of food down to the bridal room. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to work with. I’m so glad we chose Hale Farm as our wedding venue. The property is beautiful and the staff were all so friendly, professional and organized. Thanks to Johanna, I would highly recommend Hale Farm.
I grew up going to Hale Farm with my grandma for summer field trips and it’s been a dream of mine to get married in the beautiful church in the historic village. Such a perfect way to please people who want a traditional church wedding while also getting creative with your setting and being able to hold a reception a stones throw from the ceremony! Just search for “Hale Farm Wedding” and you will see why this is such a perfect venue. Given that Hale Farm is a museum, there are many restrictions on what you can and can’t do, so you may have to be flexible. Also know that if you choose to get married in the chapel, it can get very warm in the summer. Johanna was great to work with in advance of the wedding, she answered all of my questions very quickly, and her staff were so helpful on the day of the wedding.
Hale Farm and Village was the absolutely perfect place for our wedding. In the beginning of the planning process, I was worried about the timeline in regards to being able to get everything set up the day of, but my fears were immediately extinguished by Johanna. She was quick to respond throughout the whole planning process, answered any questions I had (which was A TON), and offered great advice as needed, not to mention she was so sweet and kind. When it came time to day of, every single member of the Hale Staff was AMAZING and accommodating. We used the apple orchard outside for ceremony and the Gatehouse for reception. Everyone helped us when needed and ensured the day was absolutely stunning, they also checked in with me as needed and made sure the day flowed perfectly. 10/10 would always recommend, and we can’t wait to go back throughout the years and visit as guests.
My husband and I had our wedding at Hale Farm and Village on August 19, and we could not have had a more wonderful experience. Johanna was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the entire process and saw to it that we didn't have anything to worry about the day of. Our guests loved having the outdoor space available for both the cocktail hour and throughout the reception, and the bonfire and s'mores were a huge hit! We had so many compliments on what a beautiful and unique venue Hale Farm was, and our pictures were absolutely stunning. Tim and I both highly recommend Hale Farm for anyone looking to host their wedding or special event!
We had our wedding at Hale Farm and Village on 7/22/2017. Johanna was our event planner and she kindly went over every detail of the event, the day whatever we needed leading up to the event. Henry was our wedding day coordinator and he did a fantastic job of making sure everyone was were they needed to be. Hale Farm Staff was kind, friendly and willing to help with whatever we needed. The venue itself is very affordable (we rented The Gatehouse for the reception since it has A/C and the Carriage Manufactory for cocktail hour. Our wedding was beautiful and perfect and we thank Hale Farm staff for making it such a magical day!
We had our wedding reception at Hale Farm & Village. Hale farm did a fabulous job making sure our guests got to the cocktail hour, inside for dinner and outside again for dancing
We had our wedding reception last month at the Connor Palace Theater at playhouse square and could not have been happier with our event. Everything turned out to be amazing. The reception took place in the lobby. Cocktail hour and dancing were downstairs with dinner being served upstairs. It was such a warm and inviting environment. Our guests kept commenting on the romance and intimacy of the night. With planning our event we had some hiccups with the event coordinator who was working at the time. This was helped out tremendously by our caterer who helped the night the run seamlessly. There were many communication issues throughout planning. Be sure to Diligently check over quotes and contracts to be sure everything is correct. We were looking for something different and somewhere we could bring in our own catering company and the palace worked so well for us. We definitely recommend them. Just keep on top of planning!
We received many complements about the space. Bartenders were courteous and fast with service. Great space and great late night pretzel snack!
Loved everything. Staff was awesome, everything was beautiful!
