The entire server staff was highly attentive, and a special thank you goes to our captain, Sally. She was exceptionally organized, superb under pressure, and kept the evening running like clockwork.If you want top-notch service and food you can trust, we highly recommend Harvest Moon Catering!

ur guests had a wonderful time. My husband is a foodie, and having amazing food was one of our top priorities. Harvest Moon absolutely delivered. The food was restaurant-quality, and several guests commented that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. One thing we especially appreciated was that our event lead made sure we actually got to enjoy the food ourselves. They brought us appetizers during cocktail hour and then kindly but firmly pulled us away from socializing long enough to sit down and eat dinner. This was a small detail that meant a lot on such a busy day. The Not-So-Good -- Communication and Organization. Unfortunately, communication was a challenge throughout the planning process with emails often going unanswered. We learned during our final planning meeting that our primary point of contact was leaving the company. While the transition itself wasn’t surprising, we would have appreciated proactive communication rather than finding out during the meeting. Our new contact was a company leader who does not normally coordinate weddings. In the month before the wedding, response times were slow. One email finalizing details and asking several clarifying questions took 10 days to receive a response. My husband also scheduled a phone call through their booking system, but the call was missed and his follow-up email went unanswered for two days. There were also some execution issues. Our rental order initially listed the wrong silverware and napkin color. We provided the correct information and even included a photo of the selected place setting, but the wrong napkin color was delivered for our wedding. Finally, the night before the wedding, the team expressed concerns about driving their delivery truck up a hill on wet grass. The venue owner, who was copied on the email, provided instructions for an alternate route and asked them to check in upon arrival. Those instructions were not followed, and the truck caused significant damage to the lawn. Overall -- The food was outstanding, the service staff were excellent, and the wedding itself went off without a hitch. However, the planning process involved more stress than it should have due to communication and organizational issues. The fact that our original coordinator is no longer with the company and that our replacement does not typically manage weddings gives me some hope that our experience may not be representative.

the vendor my husband and I were most excited to book. We read the reviews, they were on our venue's recommendation list, and they seemed to propose a price that sat right in the middle. We scheduled a tasting and were impressed by the quality of food. Unfortunately it all went downhill afterwards. We worked with Becky and quickly noticed how slow she was to respond to our questions after we'd booked them - it was a total 180 from when we initially communicated with her prior to booking. We also noticed how drastically different her communication style was compared to another person on their team (Sammi) who was working with my best friend. Due to this, we asked who I presume to be the owner (Mark) to switch our day of POC. He let us know it wasn't possible but assured us everything would go well on our wedding day and that he'd even try and stop by (which of course didn't happen). ` Everything did not go well on our wedding day and here's the list of reasons why: 1. We communicated to Becky how important it was culturally to have "rakia" served to our guest (a traditional drink for my country to match up with the wedding traditions we were doing in front of our guests). Becky assured us it was no problem and I let her know that the bottles will be in the bridal suite. I later found out that none of the bottles had been brought out and therefore not served which felt very disrespectful and negligent on her part. 2. During cocktail hour, after coming in 20 mins after everyone because we were taking portraits, I came in and asked several guests how our lobster rolls were to which 3 different groups proceeded to say "what lobster rolls?" One of my good friends then went up to our planner (and thank god for our wonderful planner) and magically the lobster rolls were out and being served. Speaking of these lobster rolls, the ones we tried at our tasting were served in a crispy, buttery roll (picture half a regular lobster roll) and the lobster meat was phenomenal. Becky told us at the time of tasting that they would actually be a little bigger during cocktail hour. What came out was an atrocity - miniature hot dog buns (picture bite size as opposed to what Becky had told us) that were cold with a lobster mixture inside that was overspiced with one particular spice and I had to spit it out because it tasted horrible. 3. Apparently our guests were served bread baskets during the dinner but the groom and I wouldn't know because we weren't :) 4. We specifically told Becky our salad needs to be chopped - when we got served the salad first as bride and groom it was of course not chopped. I let the server know this to which she said "what's supposed to be chopped?" and I said all of the salads you all are serving. She said no problem, we'll fix it. Mine was returned chopped - the guests' salads didn't.. 5. One of our main courses (the salmon) was supposed to be served with lemon butter on it. What came out was a cold and soggy risotto with absolutely no lemon butter on it. None of the guests who had ordered it had it either. Again, this was described in fine detail on our proposal. 6. Becky had promised the bite size desserts would be passed out around the dance floor - no one on the dance floor had any idea that dessert had even come out because it never came to us. 7. When I went to the bridal suite to change into a reception dress, one of the HM people was just lounging around and asking my planner to revise our late night snack timeline "because she wanted to let people go home early". For a 20K price tag for 100 guests that was SO disrespectful. My planner even pointed out that that was not ok and that "the bride is right there". On top of it all, she saw I was trying to change and didn't make a move to get up off one of the lounging chairs. My maid of honor had to respectfully ask her to leave the room. 8. The salad fork I was given had old food stuck in it (not sure how no one noticed this). 9. None of the mixed drinks had alcohol in them. People were having 6-7 of different kinds of drinks and didn't feel an ounce of alcohol. 10. By far, the worst and most embarrassing part, was that three different tables came up to me and noticed that the catering staff was fighting with each other and that whole side of the room could see it. Allegedly half of them were putting in the work and the other half was just lounging around. Their argument was so loud that my parents who were sitting a whole tent floor away heard their conversation. Overall - terrible experience. I don't know if HM used to be great and then something changed (and it appears that that was the case). If you do decide to give them a shot, book with ANYONE but Becky. She kept bragging about how she's "picking up a couple of weddings" but UVA catering is her main gig (not sure why serving sandwiches to university staff is considered impressive). Also if you go with them make sure you have a planner that is on top of their stuff that you can trust in case you experience something similar. I am SO disappointed by this vendor and the quality of service they provided - truly the one black spot on our wedding day.
