Fresh, Locally Sourced, and OMG Delicious. We looked high and low to find a local Farm to
Table caterer for our special week. We wanted to reward our guests who had flown all the way
to Hawaii from the mainland with Fresh, Local and Delicious food, something that they could not
get anywhere else. We were looking for catering for our rehearsal dinner on July 30th our
wedding reception on August 1st. and we wanted an after wedding brunch on August 2nd to tie
it all together. That is no small task, we are what could be referred to as foodies.
We contacted Hawaiian Fresh Farms. Brittany, answered the phone and said that she would
be honored to be a part of our special week. Her confidence really put our minds at ease. She
promptly scheduled a tasting at Sunset Ranch on the North Shore and recommended a chefs
choice tasting. What a great decision, we were greeted with the most helpful informative group
of people that we had ever met, we certainly felt the Aloha. We walked the chefs garden with
the chef to see the source of most of our food. We received a lesson in organics and
sustainability and why choosing a local farm to cater our special week gets live and living foods
from the farm to your fork. The chef explained that by choosing only ripe produce from the
garden he can creates these remarkable sun ripen flavors. We choose a Traditional Luau for
our rehearsal dinner, a Farm to Table dinner for our reception and a Farm to Table brunch for
the day after our wedding.
The food, the food, the food. The food was out of this world. Our rehearsal luau featured a
whole roasted local organic pig cooked in an UMU, ( samoan cooking box ) basted with coconut
water, pineapple and lilikoi juices. Rather than lay out the entire menu from each day, I will just
point out a few of our favorites. Our reception dinner consisted of a Local Grass Fed Kona
Coffee Rubbed Prime Rib Roast and our fish choice was a Local Line caught Hawaiian Opah (
moonfish ) cold smoked then finished in the oven. Two amazing salads, fresh cut garden
greens, heirloom tomatoes, keiki cucumbers, garlic scallions, sweet bread croutons, honey
spiced macadamia nuts, dressed with a house made lilikoi vinaigrette. The other a vine ripen
watermelon chopped and tossed with heirloom tomatoes, torn mint, lightly dressed and topped
with a house made farmers cheese. All the food was awesome, but another side dish that was a
hit is their local goat cheese creamed sweet potato mash. I can't say enough about there fresh
baked sweet breads and pastries with local honey butter. I could go on and on but words could
not express the gratitude that we have for this company, their staff and their professionalism.
There were only a few left overs , they packaged them up for us and gave us a parting thank
you gift with their local honey and some merchandise from their country store. I understand that
we are all looking for something special on our special day. We found it, do yourself and your
guests a favor book Hawaiian Fresh Farms for your wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, after
wedding brunch or any other event where you are considering food as part of your occasion.
They deserve 10 stars but we could only give them 5 !
