We also had several allergy related issues and the Hawthorne could not have been better about making sure everyone was safe and comfortable. We’ve never seen a wedding venue be so thorough about this and it did not go unnoticed. We will always recommend the Hawthorne.

ed the actual wedding day (although I couldn’t love my husband anymore) and it makes me sad to even think about the wedding. We almost cancelled twice before our first big payment because of issues and I wish we had found an alternative venue. It was a disservice to my husband and me. They treated it casually and not with the care and attention a wedding requires. I am filing a claim with my wedding insurance for reimbursement on some issues. We had problems from the start communicating with the venue and they have avoided all accountability nor have apologized for anything we have raised with them. The venue itself is practically four vendors, split between sales, the block, the hotel as a total entity, and the day of coordinator. The different departments of the hotel frequently presented conflicting information and seemingly never spoke to each other. For example, the sales team would tell us we had open rooms in our block and within the same 10 minutes the front desk would tell our family that called to book that the block was full. The front desk misplaced the room of my best friend and bridesmaid who had booked a full year prior, forcing her to book a VRBO and lose hundreds of dollars. The sales team refused to comp her room despite this being their error, and this is one of the only issues I have really asked for compensation for. They have neglected to accept any accountability or apologize. All the “preferred vendors” were rude and unprofessional but one. We mostly hired outside their list. The only vendor we did hire, the florist, botched our order. At our rehearsal, our coordinator presented our ceremony plan wrong to our immediate family and parties. She forgot our wedding colors five days before the wedding. On the day, the Hawthorne staff both could not set up our venue properly per our agreed upon plan but also would not let my friends set up the venue. So many things went wrong or were set up incorrectly that the staff agreed to manage. including our personal guest book that wasn’t set out, our welcome sign was damaged by staff, and my meal (yes the bride’s meal) was brought to me with the wrong sides and taken away before I could eat it. My DJ and photographer shared that the Hawthorne staff were preventing them from doing their jobs. The DJ and photographer had to ask my husband and I several times throughout the wedding day what we wanted because our coordinator was trying to change the agreed upon plan we had shared with her. This all culminated with me crying at the reception several times because I was forced to pick between working my wedding and having things how I wanted them or enjoying the wedding and letting things fall apart. The Saturday bride (we were a Friday wedding) had very similar issues with the venue, we know because we saw her on Sunday after since we stayed the weekend. She expressed that the few things she needed the coordinator for did not get addressed. I have to believe that the positive reviews were from much older weddings. My advice to this venue is to either hire additional coordinators so each only has one wedding a week, or to reduce weddings because the staff were clearly not able to manage their volume.
