We had our wedding in March 2025 at the Hawthorne. We could not have asked for a better venue or group of staff to work with. We worked closely with Christine Madigan - she was so knowledgeable, easy and quick to communicate with, and made the wedding day run absolutely seamlessly. The front desk staff were so kind to each guest, and the serving staff not only made myself and my husband feel well taken care of, but each guest felt the same as well! Especially Deb, Scott, and Mike!! The hotel rooms and ballroom were beautiful. The Hawthorne’s packages made wedding planning easy! We could not have picked a better venue!
An Unforgettable Experience at The Hawthorne Hotel
We had the most wonderful experience hosting our rehearsal dinner, welcome reception, and farewell brunch at The Hawthorne Hotel, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with our choice! From start to finish, every aspect of the service, food, and ambiance was absolutely perfect. The hotel’s vintage charm was exactly what we envisioned for our wedding weekend, and it provided the perfect setting for all of our events.
The food was a highlight of our weekend. At the rehearsal dinner, we had the Chicken Milanese entrée, which was a huge hit with our guests. So many people mentioned how much they loved it, and the entire meal was delicious and beautifully presented. The service throughout all of our events was impeccable, and the wait staff was friendly and attentive, making everyone feel welcome and cared for.
One of the things we loved most about the Hawthorne Hotel was how perfectly it fit our aesthetic for the wedding weekend. The vintage character of the hotel gave everything a timeless, elegant feel, and it was the ideal backdrop for our celebrations, even though our wedding and reception were off-site.
We absolutely adored the hotel’s library space, which hosted our farewell brunch. The cozy, intimate atmosphere made it the perfect spot for a relaxed and meaningful gathering with our closest family and friends. The space was beautifully decorated, and it truly set the tone for a lovely, laid-back morning after the big day.
Our hotel suite was equally impressive. It was spacious, comfortable, and the perfect place to unwind after a busy weekend. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we both enjoyed a restful night’s sleep. It was a great retreat for us during such a busy time and offered everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
A huge thank you to our amazing events coordinator, Beth Pasquarello. Beth was an absolute gem throughout the entire process. She was incredibly responsive, helpful, honest, and caring. We never felt out of the loop, and she was always there to offer advice and solutions. One great example of her attention to detail was when she helped us secure a microphone for the rehearsal dinner, ensuring everything went smoothly. Her professionalism and personal touch made the entire experience so much easier and stress-free.
If you’re looking for a beautiful, historic venue with fantastic service, delicious food, and a truly memorable atmosphere, we highly recommend The Hawthorne Hotel. Thank you again for making our weekend so special!
The Hawthorne was a dream for our ceremony and reception. They were so kind, accommodating, and organized. Everything was easy to follow, the package includes so much that it made planning easy. The food is delicious, rooms are gorgeous, and being in the center of Salem with so much to do made it so great for our guests. I have zero regrets!
The staff at the Hawthorne were amazing and made our reception a night to remember without having to stress about the small stuff
If you want zero worries on your wedding day, amazing people to work with and have everything taken care of the Hawthorne is the right venue for you! From the very start, all the planning and even room bookings, the service at the HH was A+. Karen O'Kane really went above and beyond for me, answering all of my questions and making our vision come to life. Beth Pasquarello was also AMAZING with room block bookings as my family is large and could have taken up the entire hotel! And lastly, Alaina Ferriero was our day of coordinator and was extremely organized and a pleasure to work with! This team is top notch, the food and drink were incredible and my husband and I could not have asked for a better overall experience. We we're truly so happy with the day and did not have to worry about any logistics as it was all taken care of.
We got married at the Hawthorne on 1/14/23, but we are attending a wedding there this weekend and it reminded me to write a review.
The Hawthorne was the perfect wedding venue for us. We had welcome drinks in the Library the night before, and got married in the Ballroom as well as had our reception there. For a winter wedding, it was great to have everything in one location, especially since guests can stay upstairs and not have to leave the hotel at all at night.
The wedding coordinators, Karen and Chirstine, were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and the venue basically comes with your/their own coordinator. Karen went above and beyond to make our day special, from accommodating special requests to making sure each guest got their specific requirements (dietary restrictions, sober options, etc.)
The vendors (flowers and cake) they work with are great as well. The food is amazing, and you get to try so many different options at the tasting. Lastly, the Ballroom is beautiful and required very little additional decorations from us.
The Hawthorne was the perfect venue for us and I cannot recommend it enough.
Our wedding at Hawthorne Hotel on the Common was amazing! The venue is beautiful and the food is to die for. Lots of happy well-fed guests. The only reason this review is not 5 stars is that our Wedding Coordinator, who was extremely helpful and attentive during the planning process, seemingly dropped the ball the day of the wedding. We had lots of communication issues and she left before the cake was even served. That being said, everyone else who works at the Hawthorne is incredible and attentive!
The Hawthorne Hotel is the perfect venue to host your wedding, even for an intimate wedding like ours (65 guests). Our guests raved about the food and how beautifully the Hawthorne was decorated. The day of coordinator, Karen O'Kane, was extremely accommodating, kind, and ensured we stayed on track for the schedule. I highly recommend the Hawthorne Hotel!
Our wedding at the Hawthorne Hotel was absolutely amazing! I cannot recommend this venue enough. The packages they offer are excellent and the team is top notch! Christine was an amazing coordinator, helping us throughout the year leading up to the wedding to answer questions, make suggestions, provide options, and ensure us that the day would go smoothly. The week before the wedding, we dropped off all our items (signs, favors, table decor, etc.) and did a walk through on every part of the day from getting ready to the close of the reception. We walked through all our items and she made sure to understand the setup/vision we wanted. The day of ran so smoothly with Christine and Elena checking in periodically but otherwise seamlessly running the day so my husband and I could enjoy. People could not stop talking about how beautiful the venue was, how amazing the food was, and how much fun they had!
I got married on 9/23/23 and if I could give the Hawthorne 100 stars I would! This gorgeous hotel was the absolute perfect venue for our wedding weekend. I held my rehearsal dinner, Chinese tea ceremony, cocktail/reception, and farewell brunch there and all the events turned out perfect. We received so many compliments from our guests raving about how delicious the food was, to how beautiful and timeless the venue is and how comfortable the beds were.
The entire staff at the Hawthorne were professional, helpful, and extremely friendly. Karen who was with me through the entire planning process was spectacular to work with! She answered all my questions and concerns (and trust me I had a lot of questions), constantly stayed in communication with me, and overall made me feel at ease. Beth made sure my room block was all set and even got us to check-in early! Alaina and Ari were true rockstars as they were boots on the ground making sure everything was set up and running smoothly. Cece and Tyler at the front desk were able to assist with many misc. requests and questions we had during the weekend (thank you for all the water bottles!).
We had the best wedding team at the Hawthorne, and I cannot thank them enough for making my wedding a dream come true!
As soon as we had our first visit to the Hawthorne, we knew that it was where we wanted to host our wedding. We worked with Karen O'Kane who guided our planning process and was always extremely prepared, often anticipating the questions that we had and answering the other ones we threw at her. She was fantastic the day before and the day of the wedding, working with us and our vendors and ensuring that the night went to plan and smoothly. She and all of the service workers who helped us and our guests during the rehearsal dinner and the wedding were fantastic. We had a smaller wedding of about 40 guests, and the Sophia room was absolutely perfect for both the ceremony and the reception--it never felt cramped and it never felt empty, so we highly recommend for folks with similar sized weddings. We love the hotel and area and plan to come back every year. Highly recommended!
After getting married last month, we cannot recommend the Hawthorne enough. Not only is it a gorgeous wedding venue in the heart of Salem, but the entire planning process and event itself was so wonderful. All of the staff at the Hawthorne are remarkable and so accommodating, but Karen O'Kane in particular was phenomenal and always went above and beyond. From the very beginning of planning to the day of, she was on top of everything, kept us in the loop, responded to all of our questions and concerns, and made the big day go off perfectly...even reminding us to sit down and eat dinner at some point! In addition to the amazing venue and staff, the food was also fantastic! We are still hearing from friends and family about how remarkable the whole event was, and we couldn't agree more. We had a perfect wedding at the Hawthorne, and we will absolutely be back!
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect! We couldn't of asked for a better wedding, and a lot of that is thanks to our wonderful wedding coordinator at the Hawthorne, Beth Pasquarello! From day 1 she went above and beyond to help us plan our big day. Planning a wedding is no easy task, there are a lot of "unknowns" and details one doesn't even think of, Beth was super helpful in providing insight and guidance making the entire process fun and stress free. We are so happy we chose the Hawthorne as our venue as their package offerings really make it easy and less stressful to plan an entire wedding. All our guests were very impressed by the food selections and said everything was delicious.
Beth and the Hawthorne staff go above and beyond and we couldn’t recommend them enough!
Beth Pasquarello is amazing. She made getting married at the Hawthorne Hotel an easy, relaxed, and beautiful. I could count on her leading up to the wedding and then all day on the wedding day. She was attentive, great with my guests, and extremely professional. The food was amazing and the day went smoothly. We loved getting married at the Hawthorne Hotel, and if you choose to get married there too, ask for Beth!!
We are so happy we decided to have our wedding at the Hawthorne. Our coordinator was Karen and she was incredible. She was professional, easy to get in touch with, answered all my questions throughout the year and a half of planning and truly made our day exactly how we imagined it. Everything was perfect and I could not be more thankful for our experience we had with the Hawthorne!!
After having to reschedule our destination wedding, we decided to go somewhat local. The Hawthorne Hotel is beautiful and the vibe fit our winter wedding perfectly. Not only was the ceremony in the beautiful library, but we held our reception in their Sophia’s and Nathaniel’s rooms. Everything was perfection. The biggest kudos, however, are for Karen and the staff. Karen made sure she was with us every step of the way and made sure the wedding ran to perfection. Even our parents were singing praises to Karen’s impeccable vision and coordination. She made me feel calm, confident, and helped me have the wedding of my dreams.
When we chose the Hawthorne Hotel it was a combination of the amazing staff we got to know at one of their open houses and the elegance of the entire venue. However, their flexibility and hospitality came through in full force when we needed to postpone over a year due to the pandemic. Working with our day-of coordinator, June, was incredible, and she was amazing at answering all our questions and helping us plan and organize a day that was perfect for us. The serving staff were all fantastic, from the waiters / waitresses to the bartenders, and I appreciated how communicative everyone was whenever we had questions or needed to coordinate our vendors with the venue. Plus, for the price, the Hawthorne includes so many perks that other venues were trying to charge extra for. If you want a picture-perfect wedding with the best staff in historic Salem, MA, definitely book the Hawthorne today!
i have so many great things to say about this venue that I don't even know where to start. If you want to work with the nicest most professional staff ever, book here. if you want classic and historic Salem charm, book here. If you want your guests to actually enjoy a meal at your wedding, book here. My husband and I booked the Hawthorne because it was simply a special place to us but WOW did they exceed out expectations. Other than covid (which they handled perfectly) absolutely everything went smoothly with planning our wedding because the they make the process so easy. June was the best coordinator I could have asked for as she really makes sure everything is how you envision it and keeps the day on track. I absolutely love this venue and would book any event here again and again!
My husband and I can’t say enough about the wonderful team at The Hawthorne Hotel. Everyone we interacted with was so incredibly genuine and warm, as well as supportive and patient with us and our families as we planned our wedding day.
Like so many other couples, in early March of 2020, we quickly realized that the day we originally had planned wasn’t going to work, and that we’d need to change our wedding due to COVID-19. The team at The Hawthorne was unbelievable in supporting us in making this decision. They helped us navigate through the process, and worked to fully refund our deposit - despite the event being only a few months away.
We look forward to working with the team in the future, and are so grateful for their support to date. Thank you so much, to the team at The Hawthorne Hotel!
The entire team and staff of the Hawthorne Hotel were beyond exceptional for the process of planning of our wedding and for the day itself. Our main contact was Karen O'Kane and she was an absolute dream to work with. We choose the Hawthorne for its location (downtown Salem and proximity to Boston) due to us having a huge amount of out of town guests, the fact that they can (comfortably!) fit 190 guests in one room with room for two bars and a dance floor, and for its historic elegance. The pictures of the ballroom simply do not do it justice. Although we ended up having beautiful weather for our wedding day we also loved having the security of having a venue that was completely indoors with tons of beautiful photo locations inside as well. The food and drinks were amazing and I could not have been more thrilled with our wedding venue. Our guests have continued to tell us this was the best location and wedding they have ever been too.
The Hawthorne Hotel was the perfect wedding venue for us in every way! From the moment we walked into the Hawthorne for the first time to view the venue all the way through the planning process to the big day (11.2.19), the Hawthorne staff were professional, accommodating, flexible, thoughtful, and extremely helpful. When we asked for guidance as we planned our wedding, they helped every step of the way providing expert advice. We also appreciated the inclusive wedding packages, which included wedding cake and floral center pieces. The Hawthorne really knows how to do weddings, and I was grateful that we didn't worry about a thing on our wedding day. This is mostly because of June Jennings, our day of coordinator from the Hawthorne, who was amazing. From the historic venue to the great food and experienced staff, we are so glad we got married at the Hawthorne. June and the hotel took great care to make sure everything was perfect, and it truly was!
Brett and I got married at The Hawthorne Hotel October 5, 2019 and it was absolutely fabulous. The food was fantastic, all the guests are still raving about it. The wedding coordinators are amazing. They helped with every detail and made sure the day went smoothly. A lot of people stayed at the hotel which was great, especially if you have a lot of out of town guests like we did. We even did a post wedding brunch the following morning. Everything was more than I could have asked for.
From the ease of planning through the elegance and perfection of our entire wedding day, I honestly think the Hawthorne Hotel was the best experience possible. The entire team was professional, responsive, kind and (importantly for us) fun to work with. They thoughtfully took care of so many details for us from the moment we started planning through the morning after our wedding. Having our ceremony, reception, and hotel rooms in the same place made the whole day and night so stress-free for us and for our guests, which helped everyone just be present and have the best time. Hotel weddings can risk a loss of "character," but as a historic hotel that has been so thoughtfully maintained and restored through the years, it is filled with elegant character and magical charm! The food was SO GOOD, and I appreciated how attentive the staff were to some serious dietary needs of a few of our guests--that's something that was so important to me. Plus, they have new carpet in their ballroom and it's an excellent upgrade :)
The Hawthorne did such an amazing job with our wedding. Everyone loved the food, the ballroom was beautiful, and the staff was amazing. I wouldn’t change a thing about my wedding experience and give them the highest recommendation!
We had our rehearsal dinner, room block, and post-wedding brunch at the Hawthorne. It was all amazing! The service was wonderful - they were so responsive through all of the planning and incredibly helpful with everything we needed to host multiple events there. We also really appreciated how flexible they were - for example, our room block started to fill up and they let us add more rooms. I stayed in room 418 I believe, which was HUGE and perfect for having the hair and makeup artists come and get the girls ready on the day of the wedding! The food was delicious, the service was great, and the ambiance of the hotel is so charming. Highly recommend!
I absolutely LOVED our reception at the Hawthorne! All of the wedding staff was super responsive any time I called or emailed, answering all my questions and taking care of things before I even knew they needed doing.
The day-of ran smoothly all thanks to the incredible coordinator who was present from the first look in the elevators to when we finally made it up to our room at the end of the night.
And the food! Seriously the best wedding food I have ever eaten. The chef even customized our veggie side dish.
The Hawthorne is the best place we could have booked, from the staff, to the value, to the delicious food, and beauty of the ballroom.
What a perfect venue for a small wedding! Excellent service and food.
From planning in the beginning to the actual wedding day everything was perfectly planned and coordinated by the Hawthorne Hotel. Our coordinators Karen, Alaina, and Paola were professional, friendly, and ensured that the night would be perfect. The food & beverages were excellent and the waitstaff that served were also professional and attentive. Many of our guests had food allergies or restrictions which were handled with the utmost care from the waitstaff to the kitchen to the front desk. Having not been from the area it was very helpful that they provided a preferred vendor list which is where we acquired our DJ and Florist both of which were phenomenal. We highly recommend the Hawthorne and look forward to going back on our anniversary. Thank you to everyone for making the 21st night of September just as memorable as the Earth, Wind & Fire song!
The Hawthorne was the first and only venue my husband an I looked at for our wedding. The minute we walked in we knew this was the place for us. We wanted a place where we could have the ceremony, reception, hotel and some character all in one and the Hawthorne had it all.
It was so easy to get ready there the morning of as well. We booked the Skylark Room, which is right next to the bridal suite, so we were back and forth super easy when we needed to get things and the groomsmen got ready on the third floor in one of their rooms.
The ballroom of the Hawthorne is beautiful. In my opinion, there is no need for any uplighting and I think that would take away the character and class of the room.
The food at the reception was incredible. Everything is made with precision and all of our guests commented on how good the food was.
The entire staff was such a pleasure to work with. June was our coordinator and she is so incredibly organized and professional and made our day a breeze. Ryan coordinated the room block and my annoying once a week "how are we doing on the room block" emails. He was awesome to work with. We worked with Christine as well, who was super pleasant and professional to us.
Overall, our decision to have our ceremony, reception and room block all at the Hawthorne was probably one of the best decisions we made for our big day. I would highly recommend this venue. The only thing is though, if you get to that maximum of 190 guests, the bar will have to be outside of the room, so I was happy when our guest list was able to get down so we could have the bar in the room.
The Hawthorne is worth every penny and they will do everything in their power to make sure you truly have the best day of your life.
We were immediately impressed with how accommodating Karen and the Hawthorne seemed. My goal was that it would feel like the holidays with my family, and I could tell right away that the Hawthorne would feel like home for my wedding weekend. We also loved that all (or almost all) of our out of town guests could stay at the venue, that it was a historic and beautiful setting, and that there was a catholic church right next door! The Hawthorne was practically a no brainer. It lived up to all of our expectations and then some. The venue was beautiful, and I'm not sure what my guests rave about more-- how accommodating the hotel was for not only the wedding but our whole stay, or the Seafood Chowder!
Wow! Our wedding was just magical. When we got engaged, my husband thought of the Hawthorne immediately because he has always been drawn to it and I was happy because I wanted everything in 1 place: the ceremony, the reception and the hotel. A lot of my guests commented on the fact that it was so nice that we did not have to travel at all! I think it made guests happy that no time was wasted with travelling and they could spend more time enjoying!
All of the staff here are unreal. What I love about the staff is that you get the feeling of family. It is not a transient staff and you can really tell that they love their jobs and they have fun! What I also kept in mind throughout the process was the fact that they have about 100 weddings a year. This was a comfort to me because it told me that they know what works and does not work! They know their venue space and the ins and outs of all the details that go into the wedding.
Ryan is such an amazing person when it comes to the room blocks! He was there to answer my every question promptly and fully! We were so pleased that they could accomodate so many of our guests! And June Jennings is also the best! She made the entire process fun and beautiful. When I looked around the room I just kept thinking of how "magical" the whole night was!
We got married 12/1/18 & the hotel just looked gorgeous! We did not need any decor, as the hotel was freshly decorated for the holidays! The guests commented on how beautiful the entire hotel was and how they loved the ballroom!
This entire process from the moment I sat down with Julia to the Monday after our wedding when we left was seriously perfect and magaical. One of my friends commented and said she has never been to a wedding that nothing went wrong! This year was a bit crazy for us because we bought and renovated a house in 7 months but the Hawthorne never made me feel stressed planning for our wedding. In fact, it was a blast! The Hawthorne makes every step of planning so easy! I could not have been more happy with our wedding and when we talk about anything we would change we both agree when we say "nothing."
The Hawthorne Hotel had the most delicious food we could have asked for at our wedding day. We decided to use them since they were the preferred caterer at the PEM, and are so happy we did. From the amazing tasting experience, to the spectacular food the night of the wedding, we could not have been more pleased. In addition to the food being phenomenal, Julia was extremely responsive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We were so happy with their communication and professionalism that we decided to hold our “farewell brunch” the morning after the wedding and have a room block there, and it was absolutely perfect. Ryan helped us accommodate our large number of guests and was extremely professional. We received countless compliments the night of the wedding and brunch in regards to how friendly the waitstaff was and how delicious the food was. My husband and I would highly recommend the Hawthorne Hotel for any event!!
My mom selected the Hawthorne Hotel for a pre-wedding dinner for 20 people. It was such a great choice. We had a private dining room with a buffet. The staff was so great to work with and the food was excellent.
We had our wedding at the Hawthorne Hotel in April and we couldn't have better things to say! June Jennings was an amazing coordinator. She was great to work with, answered all questions with an urgency, and helped us choose our decorations and food that made the day perfect! All of our guests said the food was the best they have ever had at a wedding and we couldn't agree more. The entire day went off without a hitch and we couldn't have asked for a better venue!
Hawthorne Hotel was the perfect wedding venue. My Husband and I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding day. From day one the entire staff went above and beyond their duties. Christine and Julia were so incredibly thoughtful and made sure everything went off without a hitch. The food was to die for! All of our guests loved everything! Honestly the best decision we made for starting our new life together!
The staff at The Hawthorne Hotel were helpful, kind, and accommodating. They were honest about the process, and seemed genuinely excited about our event. The execution on the day of our wedding was flawless. We are so glad we chose this historic and convenient venue
Our wedding day was everything we wanted it to be. The Hawthorne was professional and organized the day of the wedding and guided us through everything seamlessly. The food was great, they worked well with our vendors and families, and it was a solid option for their price range. Make sure you double check all appointments and details leading up to the wedding as there were some missed opportunities here. I wouldn't say any personal emotional connections were made with any of the staff, but you will walk away with the day you were always hoping for, family and friends raving about how nice it all was, and all at an affordable price range versus other wedding venue options.
My husband and I recently had our wedding reception at the Hawthorne Hotel. Our first meeting with Karen to figure out what we wanted to do and how to go about it put us at ease immediately. We knew at that moment that we had made the right choice. All the staff, including Karen and Christine, were very key in helping us prepare for our wedding party. The day of the event, all staff, including the wait staff. were just incredible. They were very attentive to all our needs, very pleasant, helpful and frankly superb. The food was incredibly delicious! Everything was just to die for.
Susan, who worked with us the day of, was incredible! She made sure we were at ease and she was in control of everything. We couldn't have asked for a better party, a better day, a better spot. People are still talking about the event, particularly the food and the service provided. Everything was all that we wished for and more. Absolutely beautiful!!!
Thank you so much to you and your staff for the hospitality and making our event a memorable one.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again.
If asked to boil down our experience of getting married at the Hawthorne Hotel into one word, it would be spectacular- from start to finish. We decided to stop in for an appointment at the Hawthorne, really because it was on the way to see a venue up in Maine, near where my husband grew up. We didn’t have any ties to Salem, but my mom had suggested we check it out. The hotel looked beautiful on the website and we hadn’t been to Salem in years, so we thought, ‘Why not!?’
When we left our appointment at the Hawthorne, I was ready to sign the dotted line. It all started with our planner, June. She is so warm, welcoming and sharp to boot. She never made us feel like we had to rush to make a decision and took the time during our appointment getting to know us, teaching us about the hotel and showing us the entire space. We instantly connected with her and after having the opportunity to compare our first impression there with a few others, we loved feeling like we weren’t “just another couple” – June made us feel like she and the staff genuinely wanted us to celebrate our special day there. And the thought of starting new memories in such a charming, distinct New England town excited us.
Within the two days following our appointment, June’s responsiveness and patience answering all our questions definitely helped us finalize our decision to book there. The phenomenal service, care and attention to detail continued through the entire year of our planning process. Ryan was extremely helpful and patient when it came to all the room bookings and crazy last-minute changes and Christine was always super responsive and detailed when it came to all the transactions and setting up the menu.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t speak to the menu! My husband has a gluten allergy and there were another 10 or so guests with allergies so the chef cooked our entire menu gluten free! It was comforting to know we wouldn’t have to worry about our guests feeling sick due to any cross-contamination. And the food is fabulous. We had a blast doing the tasting and the chef’s cooking is restaurant quality, not “just” wedding food, if that makes sense!
My husband and I are so thrilled we chose the Hawthorne Hotel for our wedding. The staff made the planning process easy and joyful, and the gorgeous details and character within the hotel speaks for itself. Plus, Salem is an awesome town for guests to spend the weekend exploring and feeling like they are having their own mini-getaway. You will not go wrong getting married at the Hawthorne, and I can’t thank June and the staff enough for helping to make our wedding as beautiful, seamless and special as we always hoped it would be.
I've done theatre in the Hawthorne for years and my husband and I knew we wanted to get married there thanks to the beautiful location and incredible staff. June and Liz made the day flow perfectly and we were able to enjoy our wedding and just let things unfold around us.
My husband and I were married in the Hawthorne Hotel ballroom in January of 2017. The Hawthorne made our planning process so easy, we were engaged for just 6 months and had the simplest time planning. We had our ceremony and reception on site. June made all the time leading up to our wedding stress free. She answered all of our questions quickly and throrougly, I felt comfortable trusting her with the most important day of our lives. The suite was beautiful for getting ready in the day of and downtown Salem and the commons are beautiful for photographs on the day of. The food is delicious and the ballroom is so classy. I would recommend the Hawthorne Hotel to any couples looking for a gorgeous venue that includes everything in one place.
I had my wedding at the Hawthorne Hotel this past October 2016 and I don't think we could have found a more perfect venue! The Grand Ballroom embodied the perfect setting for our classic, vintage style themed wedding while also providing all of our guests with the Salem experience during Halloween. Nothing can beat the pictures of our wedding party in the beautiful fall foliage on the common (even though it was raining!) that is just steps outside of the hotel. To add, the fact that every event during our wedding weekend was within walking distance of each other could not be more convenient for us and our guests (rehearsal dinner @ Finz, ceremony at Immaculate Conception Parish, reception at Hawthorne Hotel, and Salem downtown attractions).
The very first decision I made when I got engaged and began the planning process was that I was going to wear my 108 year old family heirloom wedding dress and I knew I wanted the venue to portray the elegance of this dress with a classic, vintage, and elegant setting. I had toured a few other locations in Boston, but knew I had found the perfect place the minute I walked into the Hawthorne Hotel and met with Karen O'Kane. The quaint historic building makes you feel like you stepped back in time with original furnishings and architecture that truly can't be replicated anywhere else combined with the extraordinary service the staff provided. Karen was super friendly and made the entire planning process more fun than stressful like I was anticipating.
Overall, I along with all of our guests had an incredible wedding weekend at the Hawthorne Hotel and I could not have asked for a more memorable experience that I will cherish forever! I can't wait to visit again for our 1 year anniversary celebration at the hotel this Fall!
Thank you Hawthorne Hotel for a wonderful wedding experience!
THE ENTIRE STAFF UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF LAURA AND LIZ WERE ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I wouldn't have trusted anyone else with my wedding day! I am so thankful for this hotel. NOT ONE THING WENT WRONG during my blizzard wedding! We love you!
It was a wonderful experience working with the Hawthorne Hotel and I couldn’t be happier with how our wedding turned out. From the initial call to schedule an appointment until the final day before the wedding, they answered every single question and kept me informed of what I should be doing and what still needed to be done. We meet 3 times before the big day and we are from out of town so they worked around our crazy schedule. They gave us suggestions when needed and a list of referred vendors which we used the limo and bakery which were amazing as well. On the day, everything ran completely smoothly and stress-free. The staff was friendly, flexible and able to accommodate any needs that arose. We couldn’t be happier with the decision to hold our wedding reception at the Hawthorne Hotel.
During the wedding I loved the fact you could throw the bouquet from the second story window into the ballroom and it made it very memorable. The large park next door added a beautiful view out ballroom windows and provided the perfect place for group photos. In addition, the coordinator was always there guiding us if needed and keeping the evening flowing perfectly.
The Hawthorne is a great place for a wedding because of how beautiful and historic the hotel is but also because the city of Salem sparks with personality. Relatives from out of town loved it because they had stuff to do during the day and were not too far from Boston. Friends and family were able to walk nearby for lunches and dinners while staying in Salem for the weekend. Salem has a diverse bar scene, ample museums and other points of interest that made the whole weekend a joy for friends and family even in the middle of February.
We based our August 2016 wedding weekend out of Salem, blocking guest rooms at Hawthorne and hosting our rehearsal dinner there too. Our guests enjoyed the rooms and the blocking arrangements worked out seamlessly. Ryan and Melissa were great on the lodging side. The rehearsal dinner in Sophia’s room was top notch, and Laura was completely organized and professional throughout the experience. We were very happy with the experience.
may 20th,2016 my husband and i got married here it was amazing. we had more people attend our wedding than we thought so we had to move the location a week before the wedding thank god they had our date available and they made it seem like we planed this wedding months in advance when we walked in everything was so beautiful and set up so perfectly i couldn't ask for a better day. they were very attentive, very nice and accommodating! i was so glad we had our wedding here! it turned out amazing. i would recommend this place to any bride this is the best hotel.
We had our wedding at the Hawthorne this past fall, 10/15/16. We booked it almost a year and a half in advance, so if you plan on having you wedding here we suggest you do the same! There is a reason this place books so quickly and that is because of the quality of service you recieve. The staff at the Hawthorne were so accomadating and quickly answered any questions we had along the way. Laura Abraham-Long was especially helpful along the entire process, she was well organized, prepared for any questions we had, and reassuring with any concerns or decisions we had to make. Saying Laura was the best is simply an understatement! Jennifer Kelly was very helpful with our room block, and worked very hard to make sure we were able to accomadate our closest guests at the Hawthorne during its busiest time. Our Function Coordinator Liz Dube was an angel the day of our Wedding. She made us feel so comfortable and STRESS FREE THE DAY OF and made sure everything went exactly how we wished. The entire staff made the whole wedding planning process stress free and they also allowed us to feel comfortable monatarily as well. Planning a wedding obviously can be very expensive and the people at the Hawtorne worked hard for us to meet our goals while not going too crazy in our budget, which is a very nice touch to a market that makes you feel like they only care about your cash! All in all we highly recomend you book your wedding at The Hawthorne Hotel. I know everyone says their wedding was perfect and the place they had it was perfect, but the hawthorne goes so much beyond just the wedding day. They make you feel like a celebrity the entire process and truley make your special day amazing. Every one of our guests were blown away at how well they coordinated the wedding and the services they provide. Thank you so much to everyone at the Hawthorne, again especially Laura, Jennifer & Liz. You guys were amazing and we couldn't have pictured a better experience. Thank you!
We utilized Hawthorne Hotel’s catering services for our December 2016 wedding at the PEM. Overall, we couldn’t have been more thrilled with the entire experience. We began working with Laura halfway through the planning process, and were immediately impressed with her professionalism and expertise. She was always quick to respond to emails and always willing to answer the multitude of questions I would throw her way throughout the planning process. She was just the best. They are a bit pricey, but truthfully worth every penny. The food was absolutely incredible (when can you ever say that about wedding food??)...our guests were raving about every hors d'oeuvre , appetizer, and dish. The serving staff and bartenders were incredibly friendly and hospitable. We had Liz overseeing our reception, and I couldn’t have been more grateful for the calming effect she had on me throughout the evening. I knew right off the bat that we were in good hands with her there. She was consistently checking on us to make sure everything was going well throughout the evening, which made such a difference in our abilities to enjoy every moment and not worry about a thing. She even helped bustle my dress, talk about going above and beyond! Overall, top notch. We are so grateful for everything they did for us on our special day.
My husband and I had an amazing time at our wedding ceremony, reception and breakfast at Hawthorne Hotel. We worked with Karen O'Kane and Christine Madigan and our day of coordinator, June Jennings. From the moment we expressed interest in Hawthorne through to our breakfast brunch, all of our questions were answered immediately and with such kindness and understanding for our budgetary limitations. Karen executed our vision perfectly - she answered all questions and spent a lot of time making sure we were happy with our decisions. She was so organized and made the process much easier than it would've been elsewhere. Their list of recommended vendors was also incredibly helpful. We were blown away by the atmosphere Hawthorne provided and the impeccable service. The night before our wedding we had a rehearsal and we still had a lot of decisions to make regarding the ceremony and reception. June helped us work through these important decisions with such patience, we were really grateful for that. The day of our wedding, June was very easy to communicate with and coordinated everything beautifully. We and our guests were so thrilled with our accommodations at the hotel as well. The food was incredible and everything went seamlessly. Thank you Hawthorne for such a wonderful experience!
Our wedding at the Hawthorne this past weekend was so perfect, and we owe it all to Laura, Liz and the team at the hotel for putting together such a flawless event. The ballroom is so beautiful, our guests loved the food and all gave us compliments on what a great wedding it was. Laura and Liz are so great to work with, I didn't have to worry or think of any logistics all day which allowed me to relax and enjoy the wedding. I can't recommend a wedding at the Hawthorne enough!
What an amazing venue! It was the historic charm and reputation that brought my husband and me to consider the Hawthorne Hotel for our wedding, and it was the thoughtful care, hospitality, and professionalism of the staff that made it easy to say ‘yes!’ to it. Laura (our Wedding Coordinator) was an absolute dream to work with. Her insights and suggestions were invaluable to getting the best value for our wedding, and her careful guidance kept us focused on what we needed to do (which wasn’t much – the Hawthorne takes care of a lot!). When it came to the wedding day, Liz kept everyone moving, focused, and on task. The wait and beverage staff took exceptional care of us and all our guests; hors d’oevres and drinks were constantly being rotated out amongst the guests during cocktail hour. Dinner service was exceptionally delicious, and our food was expertly prepared and delicious. Our wedding day was truly perfect from start to finish and it absolutely would not have been as wonderful and memorable if we did not have it at the Hawthorne.
I recently planned an event at the Hawthorne Hotel and all the team members were very helpful, especially Karen. She took the time to understand the situation and worked with what we had to make things work. I really appreciated the interest she took in planning the event.
After getting the right people to work with, The Hawthorne Hotel was a beautiful venue to have our wedding at. Laura, Liz, and Jennifer went above and beyond to make sure things were perfect. Thanks so much for giving us such a beautiful wedding.
Our daughter's wedding at the Hawthorne was just lovely. The staff was friendly and professional. A special thank you to Laura who was our "go-to" lady. She really came through every time. Also, Elizabeth, who was on in charge on our special day attended to every detail. I would highly recommend the Hawthorne if you want an elegant experience.
The Hawthorne Hotel was amazing from start to finish with coordinating our wedding. Laura couldn't have been more detail oriented and was always sure to put every bit of extra effort into all of our very specific requests, and we know dealing with two brides is double the challenge!! Our emails and calls were always returned immediately and any concerns we had work quickly put to rest. On the morning of the wedding we had planned to have our ceremony outdoors away from the hotel. We woke up and it was raining out. Laura called my bridal suite on her day off from work first thing in the morning to ask me if we wanted to move our ceremony inside. We didn't even think this was an option such last minute. She truly saved the day. Laura and our coordinator for the day, Liz, worked tirelessly and within less than a two hour timeframe were able to magically pull off moving our entire ceremony inside. Including all of the personal extra touches that we had planned for our outdoor ceremony and made sure that everything went seamlessly. Our guests were amazed. Our room was exquisite and all of our decor was pulled together perfectly by Liz. She ran around for us all day attending to any need that we could possibly have. We truly had no worries on the day of our wedding and everything was taken care of for us before we even could think about it. Our wedding was truly vintage glam and whimsical. It looked like a photo from the inside of a magazine. We were flooded with compliments throughout the entire day from friends and family. This day could not have been more perfect. Thank you Laura and Liz and the Hawthorne Hotel. Love the newly weds, Karen & Elisa
My mom hosted my bridal shower here. Everything about it was perfect. The food was delicious, the room was adorable, the staff were attentive but unobtrusive. I left a gift behind and the staff retrieved it and kept it at the desk for me. Definitely would recommend!
We got married at the Peabody Essex Museum in July of 2016 and the Hawthorne Hotel was our caterer, as well as hosted a farewell breakfast for us and our guests. We blocked rooms at the Hawthorne and many of our guests stayed there. There are so many wonderful people that work at the hotel. Laura Abraham Long was our catering manager and overall superwoman! I can not say enough wonderful things about Laura. She is extremely knowledgeable about what she does. She has great ideas and suggestions. I took all of her suggestions and could not have been happier. She even helped pick out our table linens and colors. She went above and beyond what I was expecting to get from a catering manager, I trusted her completely and she helped make our wedding and the months leading up to it a smooth ride. Liz Dube was our day of coordinator and she is just as fabulous as Laura! She was always right there asking if we needed anything. Liz even went to find a pair of pliers during our wedding to fix the bustle on my dress- without me even asking! Everything went exactly as wewanted because of the wonderful staff at the Hawthorne. The food was delicious, and coming from a family of chefs we can be a little hard to please. The food at the farewell breakfast was awesome too! The staff was always attentive and we had a great time. Everyone that stayed at the hotel loved it! We have zero regrets in using the Hawthorne Hotel and I highly recommend them to everyone! You will not be disappointed.
The staff is wonderful and made our wedding the best day of my life. The ballroom is so beautiful and my guests loved the food. I didn't have to worry about a single thing the day of and we were able to just enjoy ourselves.
My daughter got married in June at the Hawthorne Hotel. From the minute we walked in we knew this was the venue for us. The atmosphere and the staff were as close to perfection as you could get. The food was beyond delicious. Working with the the staff and their suggestions for flowers and music is the way to go. However, none of this would have come to fruition with the amazing Laura Abraham Long Senior catering manager. Laura was my constant go to for ten months. Laura walked me through every step with grace and professionalism. She answered every question and email promptly and without judgement. (I had some pretty crazy mother of the bride questions) never once did Laura make me feel as though I was a bother. If you are fortunate enough to choose The Hawthorne and work with Laura, I guarantee you will have your dream wedding. I have a friend for life.
I cannot express how wonderful the Hawthorne Hotel was for my wedding day! Every single request was met without a hesitation. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and I was able to have my wedding ceremony as well as my reception there. They flipped the ballroom without a hitch! My guests LOVED the convenience, and the delicious food of course! The staff was phenomenal as a whole, but I have to specifically mention how amazing it was to work with Laura Abraham Long. Laura made myself and my family feel as though we were her only clients. She was available to answer all the crazy questions we had, and never once made us feel like we couldn't go to her for guidance. She is just fabulous, and if you can work with her and the other amazing staff members at the Hawthorne, consider yourself blessed. She truly made my wedding extra special.
