Would truly like to say Thank You to Head over Heels for making our dream wedding come true. We came with Ideas and Valyncia was able to create exactly what we envisioned. She was organized and always ahead when it came time to planning and outlining our special day. Prior to our reception we got to see our first look and upon opening our eyes we cried because everything was perfect! Truly blessed and thankful that we trusted have found Head over Heels to plan our special day. Valyncia is absolutely amazing at everything that she does!! From the initial point of contact all the way up to the wedding day and even after, she has been professional, and is very present and involved every step of the way. I remember crying and having so much anxiety about the overall wedding process and when I called her to share my feelings she was there to help calm me down, she even prayed with me!! Planning events is not just another paycheck for her, SHE ACTUALLY CARES about every person that she crosses paths with!! Her compassion for what she does is beyond anything that I’ve ever seen from any other planner. She also comes with a complete package and that was a HUGE plus for us!! After our wedding we became more than just a client/ business relationship, we became friends!! If you’re a bride looking for someone who gets it, all of the many things that a wedding brings, becoming a wife, being a mom, multi-tasking, and so much more then Head Over Heels Events by Valyncia Patterson is the way to go!!

Our reception was dream – every detail was exactly as we visualized, and that is all thanks to Kelly and the HOH team. The flowers and décor were picture-perfect, and even better than we imagined. All the minor details were perfectly thought-through, and Kelly was happy to jump in to move things along and make sure everything ran smoothly. We had a top-notch vendor at every turn, all suggested by Kelly, and it made for an absolutely incredible wedding day.
My number one piece of advice to anyone planning a wedding is “get a planner – it’s worth it,” and my number one suggestion is to work with Head Over Heels.
I can't even begin to describe our wedding planning/preparations/wedding day with Kelly with Head over Heels. I was one of those people that didn't think we needed a wedding planner. Oh my gosh, how wrong I was. Kelly was beyond amazing. She did everything possible to make this the most special day of my daughter's life. She literally took care of EVERYTHING. She orchestrated the most efficient, smooth running day...when usually the wedding day is a hectic day, she made everything perfect and full of joy. My daughter and I didn't have to worry about a thing. Her creativity, connections, energizer battery personality and her compassion and care made this a day we will all remember. I am hearing raves about the reception, and quite honestly we give Kelly and her fabulous team ALL the credit. We sincerely could NOT have done it without her. She traveled here, there and everywhere for us to make everything perfect, and did it all with her precious smile. Every wedding event NEEDS KELLY!! She thought of things we completely forgot about or didn't know. She is organized and truly puts the bride first. I truly can't say enough about her. My daughter feels she's made a friend for life...me too!
Kelly Martin at Head Over Heels NC was the best thing to ever happen to me. I am still on Cloud 9 thinking about how my wedding was absolutely PERFECT! I'm extremely organized and a bit of a control freak, so I didn't think I needed a planner at first. Well, I can admit when I'm wrong and boy was I wrong. I don't know what I would have done without Kelly. She was worth every penny and then some! You can't put a price on what she did for me. She took so much off my plate, kept me sane, & allowed me to just enjoy being a bride. The weekend of my wedding was the most stress-free & enjoyable time thanks to Kelly & her team. I knew I was in good hands from start to finish and she made my dream wedding into a reality. Most couples are probably so relieved after the wedding is over but ours was so perfect that I would do it all over again next month!
Kelly was INVALUABLE to our wedding planning process. My fiancee and I had a very short timeline to pull everything together - approx. 5 months. Kelly helped us get right to work figuring out all the elements needed for the overall feel of our wedding. I was not a bride who dreamed of her wedding day her entire life, so I felt extremely overwhelmed with all the decisions that needed to be made & who to work with. She knew right away which vendors would fit our needs and our budget. Kelly was ALWAYS available to me - phone, text, email, calls. Kelly is great at reading people, and could easily tell if I was starting to feel overwhelmed during vendor meetings with all the decisions that had to be made. She was quick to jump in and provide her professional opinion so I could narrow down the options & make the best decision for our wedding. On the day of our wedding, Kelly & the HOH team worked tirelessly in 95+ degree heat to get everything set-up for the event & ensure the day flowed smoothly. Both Kelly & her team were extremely attentive to us & our guests - checking-in with us as the evening unfolded & never making us feel rushed to move onto the next thing on our timeline (cake-cutting, toasts, etc.). I've heard from several girlfriends & various family members that they felt the night was "FLAWLESS" - that is a testament to Kelly & her HOH team. Honestly, our wedding day was more than we could have ever hoped for! I TRULY believe I was able to absorb so much of the day & just be IN THE MOMENT with our family & friends because I felt incredibly confident that Kelly would handle anything that came up. In trusting Kelly to take on the planning, timing & flow of the day, I was able to experience all of the intense, joyous emotion that marked the occasion. I cannot thank her enough for all of her time, energy & support. She is an OUTSTANDING planner & an EXCEPTIONAL person.

I just wanted to thank you all so much for all of the hard work that each of you put in to making our wedding so awesome! Especially Kelly! I know I might have not have been the easiest to deal with at times but I am so happy and grateful for each of you for dealing with me. Everything looked absolutely beautiful and just as how I had pictured! :) You made the day effortless and and allowed us to focus on friends, family, and fun. The design was impeccable and execution was flawless. I am so glad we decided to have you for the whole wedding process. All of the vendors were phenomenal, and I felt like it went off without a hitch! Best wedding planners in CLT and I will defintely refer you to any future brides! :)
Wow! Kelly was amazing to work with! She was very organized and had everything prepared and ready to go before our big day even started. I have to admit that there was a struggle to let someone else plan this most important day of my daughter’s life. Yes my daughter and I did not agree on everything either. What I was amazed is that Kelly found a way to make us both happy and to slowly build our trust as we moved ever closer to the wedding day. She contacted and sent schedules to every one of our vendors and made sure everything was in order prior to our wedding day. She was also very quick to respond (text, email, phone) whenever we had questions or if something unexpected came up during planning. Everything was taken care of the day of and we didn't have to worry about any of it.
So by the day of the wedding, Kelly had earned our full trust and we were all able to enjoy the wedding day and knew that she would handle any issues that may arise. It was so nice to give our full focus was on our special day and absorbing the joy from every moment, confident that Kelly would just handle it. We also enjoyed working with her assistants, Natasha and Ali, and also with Lauren. What a beautiful team they make! Hiring Kelly to be our planner was one of the best decisions I made throughout the entire planning process. If you're looking for a planner or are still debating on whether or not you should spend the extra money, please take my advice and go with Kelly. Your wedding is too precious to trust just anyone and it is flies by so quickly, we are so happy we chose Kelly. No one else could have pulled off this miracle with such grace, joy and love.
Since several weeks have passed since we spoke to the owner about our services, and she has offered nothing but excuses, I am moving on to sharing my thoughts First, the wedding party trolley left us at the church. There were 2 and the guests trolley was instructed to make 2 trips to the venue if necessary, so that the wedding party wasn't waiting to be picked up after pictures. That didn't happen. The 3 HOH team members were inside, and no one stayed to make sure that one of the 2 trolleys didn't leave. Next, my bustle broke. While that is not Maria's fault, if she had the video I sent showing the bustling available, maybe it would have been done correctly and not broken in the first place. But she let her phone die, and could not watch the bustle instruction. It was only one bustle point that broke and it should have been pinned at ONLY that point. Not sure what she or her assistants were thinking after looking at what they did. I was better prepared than Maria, she did not have safety pins as outlined in the contract. Once they located safety pins, they did a horrific job pinning the dress. We requested that a family friend, a wedding planner, pin the dress, but the girls would not back off. They pinned it, with pins extremely visible all the way across my dress AND they hiked it SO high that the seam of the hem was halfway up her calf, AND the lining was showing. In our photography contract excessive editing is approximately 150.00 per hour: removing safety pins and the hem halfway up my legs in hundreds of photos is in fact excessive editing. The timeline was another issue. While Maria was helpful via emails, the timeline was sent MULTIPLE times with incorrect information. It was very carelessly done even for a rough draft. It was also not done in a timely manner. We had vendors emailing and asking for it, and it had not been done. I essentially did the timeline myself, with Maria's help via email. The only thing that Maria truly did that was helpful, was packing up after the wedding. We brought everything to the venue on Friday, she was supposed to meet us there, but never showed up. The HOH team set up at the venue on Saturday, but we could have done that ourselves for the grand that we spent on wedding planning, since the wedding wasn't until 7pm. Overall, we are extremely disappointed with the service provided AND the lack of follow up. In HOH case, their follow up has been finger pointing and excuses, blaming everyone around them for the services they were supposed to provide.
I'm an event planner myself so I originally was not going to select a wedding planner- man am I so glad I did. My husband and I chose to hire HOH for day of coordination.This service was well worth the money! Brides- please put a wedding planner in your budget...do not try to DIY. You'll feel so great when you can just sit back and enjoy being a bride.
My planner was Maria and she was wonderful! She was available 24/7 for me leading up to the wedding and responded very quickly to emails and requests. I had already done all of the leg work which is why I only needed day of coordination but she made me feel so much better about everything. I was skeptical of handing over my wedding (only because I plan events for a living) but she was organized, detailed, and made me feel like I could trust her completely.
She was confident and collected and took care of all the details. On my wedding day I was able to just be the bride and it was amazing. Thank you Maria (and your team) for making our day truly exceptional. I didn't have to worry about a thing! You guys rock!
As an out-of-town bride, there was no way I could have researched and selected vendors from scratch, much less coordinated everything on our big day. Laura Massie and Head Over Heels provided a list of excellent vendors to choose from, and without exception, they ALL did a fantastic job and could not have been more focused on providing excellent service!
Laura and Kelly were there and made sure everything went smoothly and all our guests were superbly attended to. In hindsight, I wouldn't even THINK of having a wedding without someone I trusted running things, and I couldn't have found anyone better than Laura and Head Over Heels to handle our event.
Everything was just beautiful, and I was able to exist in the moment without a worry. The vendor list alone was worth the price, but the peace-of-mind was priceless.
