Helga's Caterers

We had Helga cater our wedding of 65 people. Unfortunately 2 days before our wedding the owner was changing the terms of our contract. We did not receive the different display tables of hors d ‘oeuvres we were promised. Unfortunately the servers and staff were also unprofessional. The temperature of the beef was excellent. I would recommend it.

Helga's catered our wedding in Middleburg last week. Throughout the entire process, they were helpful, communicative, and easy to work with. We had a lot of vegetarians and other dietary restrictions and they came up with an excellent, delicious, and affordable menu that had options for everyone. They helped us with the layout of the venue and even recommended a day of coordinator who was great too. At the event things went smoothly. All staff was polite and friendly - and seemed to be having fun themselves. We highly recommend Helgas and appreciate their help in getting our special day together!

We cannot speak highly enough of you and your incredible Helga's team. The care and attention paid to every detail was so appreciated, especially towards us, the bride and groom. You were so easy to work with and patient with answering all our questions, and made us feel so at ease with the entire process, especially when the weather turned and made everyone pivot. You are the ultimate professional and we are SO THANKFUL for everything you and your team did. We adored Chrissy and her leadership on the day of the wedding, and all the staff members were so friendly and welcoming to all the guests. I would without a doubt recommend Helga’s Caterers. We used them for our 80 person wedding and did not skimp on food. The Asian station with Peking duck and vegetarian spring rolls were brought up weeks after the wedding. We had the pasta station and it was decorated with so much thought and care. The beef tenderloin and horseradish sauce was delicious. The staff including the bartenders were so fabulous and professional. I love this vendor. Michael was so great to work with from the taste testing to adding linens and glassware for the reception. His communication was effortless and I knew I was getting everything I asked for and more. Thank you for making my wedding day so special. This vendor is worth it.

My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience with Helga’s from the start of the planning process to the wedding weekend. The owner, Michael, and his entire staff are incredibly professional & provide wonderful services. Everyone at our wedding commented on how amazing our cocktail hour & reception food was! Not a single item on the menu was anything less than delicious. Michael welcomed my husband & I in for a tasting early in the process which was equally delightful — himself & his staff were again so kind & professional. Every little change that came up during the planning process leading up to wedding day was quickly included & noted by Michael & team. We appreciate how accommodating & flexible this team was on a day where there are so many little details. We cannot stress how highly we recommend Helga’s for your wedding. You will not be disappointed! Oh, and the bartenders were awesome!!!

We had Helga's cater our wedding and everything from the food to the service was beyond our expectations. Everyone came up to us saying how good the food was the entire night! Besides the amazing food, the service was unbelievable. They helped set up the venue before we arrived and everything was set up perfectly. The service throughout the night was also very professional and well executed. I could not recommend them more for anyone looking to have a large event catered!

We've used Helga's in the past for several major family events and recently for our wedding, and they were amazing! Michael was able to make our vision come true and was very accommodating to help with minor by important details to make the event run smoothly. The staff were all extremely professional (like they always have been in the past) and I would definitely recommend using them to all of my friends and family. Thank you Helga's!!!

The food from Helga’s was great. We enjoyed every bite (and the leftovers), and all of our guests raved about it. Some even went back for seconds! However, as hard as this is for me to write because the owner was so great, the service staff the night of our wedding was atrocious. The bartenders did not seem to have the faintest idea how to make any mixed drink / cocktail. Something as simple as a gin and tonic, guests were given vodka instead. They used the wrong mixers, told guests we didn’t have a certain alcohol even though it was right in front of them, and poured incredibly heavily. We stocked our own bar and ended up returning 90% of our mixers and only 4 bottles of liquor. This may sound like the opposite of a problem to some people, but when it comes to the safety of our guests, it was very concerning when I learned about all of this. Again, the food was very tasty, but it is incredibly mortifying to have paid for what was supposed to be a high level of service to learn that my guests had to teach the bartenders how to make simple mixed drinks or to show them where the drinks were. I also provided my own silverware and plates, (which we still have a lot of leftovers) and left everything for the caterers to use while prepping dinner. A guest dropped a fork, asked for a new one, and it took 20 minutes to get it. How could it take 20 minutes to find a fork that you put away yourself? They knew where they were. All around, a terrible experience when it came to the rest of the staff. Michael, the owner, was great, but overall experience from our wedding was not at the level of service we were expecting after all of our emails and in person conversations.

Helga's Caterers were absolutely incredible. We did a very DIY wedding, but the one place we didn't skimp was the caterers. My fiance knew he wanted a Greek buffet, and Helga's "Big Fat Greek Wedding" menu was perfect. But even better than the food was the completeness of the service they provided-- extremely fast set-up and take down, bartending, cake cutting, creating beautiful displays of bread and cheeses, providing glassware, plates, tablecloths, napkins, everything. it was flawless service. They even made a plate of appetizers for my husband and me while we were getting photos taken during the cocktail hour and had a drink waiting for me! At first I was nervous that Michael didn't seem to be asking me a lot of questions about the wedding, but then I realized that he's done this so many times that he doesn't need to ask-- he knows exactly how to make a wedding run smoothly. I felt so comfortable and relaxed the day of my wedding knowing I was in good hands with Michael and with Helga's. It really was a perfect day!

Our guests were shocked at how good the food from Helga's was. We worked with them to design our own menu (based on their International Buffet), and they built in several more vegetarian/gluten free items at our request. They also made allergy friendly meals for two guests with specific needs. They are a family team, and they ran our buffet, made our awesome cake, rented tableware, and ran the bar we stocked. They cleaned up at the end of the night and everything was great. They were also one of the most affordable options in the region! So glad we found them.

We had a great experience with Helgas. The owner Michael is extremely helpful and responsive. He worked with us to create a menu that fit our needs. Michael is detail oriented and worked hard to ensure that everything went smoothly on our wedding day.

Michael and his team did a phenomenal job catering our wedding at Briar Patch. Michael was extremely helpful with coordinating the menu and logistics as he accommodated all the allergens and substitutions for food. We got the dinner menu with the Intermezzo, which worked out great for the kids and provided a bit of laughter around the table for our guests as they thought that they got dessert after salads. The staff who served my wife and I before the wedding helped us get an actual meal before the wedding reception, and we loved being able to try everything that we picked out AND that the food wouldn't be in any group pictures with our guests. My family told me post wedding how great the staff was as well, so I'm thankful that all aspects of our wedding, both what we saw and what we didn't were enjoyed by all our guests.

Helgas was amazing to work with from the first inquiry to post wedding. They were so responsive to all of our millions of questions and most importantly made delicious food for our wedding and rocked the bar! They were so flexible and receptive to our ideas. I would recommend them 100%

Helgas catering was such a highlight of our wedding day. Wedding planning is typically stressful, but Helgas took stress from our lives in every way imaginable. The service we received from Michael and his team is top notch. Any time I’d have a random thought or stressor, Michael would simply smile and provide a list of every way he could make our wedding perfect. He is flexible, patient, and exactly the type of person you want to work with. The value of the food that Helgas provides is unmatched. Our dinner was phenomenal, and guests enthusiastically took every opportunity for seconds. One of the most beautiful surprises was just how gorgeous our cocktail hour was. Michael described to us a spread of fruits, cheeses, vegetables, breads, and crab dip, but oh MY was it beautiful and so much more than expected. They added touches of fresh greenery to the buffet tables, and they arranged the appetizers to where it was almost too pretty to touch. They also took our cookie table tradition with stride, and took our 2,000+ homemade cookies and arranged them in a stunning display. We actually forgot to grab our small tray of leftovers from dinner after we stayed the night at our venue, and we drove over an hour back to our venue to grab them because the food was just that good! Helgas took such care of everyone, with extra attention to my husband and me as we were immediately brought a tray with every drink we could think to choose from and a plentiful spread of appetizers during cocktail hour. Despite having a buffet, Helgas served my husband and me the whole night, making sure that we were treated like royalty. Our guests can’t stop talking about the food, and we are so grateful for Michael and his team for all of their help.

Helga's gave us a wonderful wedding dinner. Not only was the food delicious, but Helga's was able to make it happen in a location without water, electricity, or gas. They handled all the logistics - tent, etc, and everything they were responsible for went completely smoothly. They also attentively acted so that we (the bride and groom) got food, drinks, water, and cake despite how busy and occupied we were. They were even alert to errors made by other vendors and really watched our back to make sure the day went well. Helga's was extremely communicative and worked with us to have the kind of wedding we wanted. They clearly are extremely experienced and professional and I would definitely use them again for future large scale catering needs.

If you are considering Helga's stop looking around and book! From Michael's accommodating and responsive communication beforehand, to the flexibility with dietary restrictions and seating changes, to the beautiful (and tasty!) cake, fantastic service, and special and personal touches like saving the leftovers for us and our out of town family, Helga's is top notch in every way! And that doesn't even begin to cover how competitively priced, delicious, and beautifully presented the food was! I would book them again in a heart beat.

Michael and his team provided our wedding excellent meals and service. We do not have a single complaint about the quality of his services. From the food to the speed in which his staff were able to serve each and every one of our guests, we could not ask for anything more! They were great from the beginning to the end. Michael and his team had great communication with us from the very beginning and was very easy to work with. We could not recommend them more! I cannot recommend Helga’s enough! From our initial inquiry to even after the wedding day, Helga’s was incredible. Not only are they very communicative and easy to work with but the staff is so efficient, kind, and hard working. Truly a great group of people! Also the food was AMAZING! Our guests couldn’t stop talking about the beef tenderloin and the mashed potatoes but everything was so delicious and served hot! Servers and bar tenders kept our guests happy and full the whole evening. They were on time for everything, helped with set up and making our table dreams come true, and made sure that our champagne toast went off without a hitch. I cannot recommend Helga’s enough!

We used Helga’s to cater our wedding reception. It was a small intimate celebration at our house. Chrissy catered our meal and she was amazing. When we returned from the church, she had everything set out and organized for our guests. The cocktail buffet with assorted fruit and cheeses along with Crabmeat Charissa tasted delicious! The dinner buffet with beef tenderloin, poached salmon and vegetable medley were mouth watering. Also very impressive was how Chrissy keep a nice flow to our special event along with cleaning up and storing everything properly. We were extremely pleased with Helga’s catering and definitely would not hesitate to use them again.

Working with Helgas is like working with family. Mike and his team from beginning to end not only helped make my wedding dreams come true, but had just as much enthusiasm as David and I. To top it off the food was out of this world, the only disappointment I had was not having some for left overs the next day!

Helga’s is a fantastic choice to blend value and great taste. The steak was fantastic and our guests raved about It, and they were flexible with us as we had to adapt several times due to covid contingencies. They were very easy to work with and gave us some wonderful personal touches - a beautiful $200 wedding cake, and they figured out how to engineer getting our heavy cake topper on without taking down their creation.

This amazing company saved my wedding after the venue was originally cancelled by the bankrupt venue. They duplicated the menu we had picked from the original company, down to the apps! The bartenders and servers went above and beyond to make sure all our guests were happy and served. Michael the president was even involved with finalizing the details and answering everything we needed. Linda was always at the ready to answer any calls and went out of her way to accommodate us. They made this crazy experience a breeze :)

We had a November wedding at a venue that provided minimal day-of management and with no day-of coordinator or planner and Helga's helped make sure that everything ran smoothly. They went above and beyond and we had such a good experience with them that we asked them to cater brunch the next day as well. Everyone we worked with was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. And the food was GREAT! Helga's is a really great value and they do an incredibly professional job. Would definitely recommend.

If you are looking for sensational food at a reasonable price, Helga's is the way to go! Their food will satisfy all of your wedding guests' taste buds. From their incredibly flavorful stuffed chicken Florentine to their white clam sauce pasta. Everything from their menu is out of this world delicious and will surpass all your catering expectations. Our guests were still raving about the incredible food the next day. Last, but definitely not least, the owner of Helga's, Michael is amazing to work with, he makes you feel like a dear friend, rather than just another wedding client. Bottom line, if delicious food is one of your main wedding priorities, go with Helga's!

Michael and his team worked with us to create a fun and fairly nontraditional wedding menu that got rave reviews from all our guests. He accommodated our requests for kid-friendly fare like mac n' cheese and an ice cream sundae station and his calm demeanor helped everything move along smoothly. And the wait staff were incredibly attentive and helpful to us and our guests. I recommend going buffet style so you can enjoy the leftovers - they were delicious!

Wow - from our tasting we knew this was a great match for our catering needs but their team still blew us out of the water! They were able to accommodate serving cocktail hour out of a converted horse trailer, accommodated our special cocktail, used decorations we provided, and adapted to the newly built venue without hesitation! Their staff was so friendly and always made me feel included and involved in the decisions they we making. We were in great hands and the night was so wonderful! They were prompt, quickly added things we needed month of the wedding, graceful in unloading and packing up, and we’re such team players to make my our special day the best ever. THANK YOU!!!

We are beyond thrilled to have worked with Helga’s Catering for our wedding. First of all, the food was unbelievably delicious, and our guests raved about all of it, from cocktail hour hors d’oeuvres to entrees. I’m allergic to gluten so I was intimidated about the prospect of finding a caterer who could accommodate a completely gluten-free menu, and from the very beginning Michael, the owner, assured me that it would be easy to do, which made me feel safe and relaxed enough to enjoy everything on our menu. We got to customize our menu and Michael was even open to making a Paraguayan family recipe for us; when we opted to have my sister make it instead using my grandmother’s recipe, he was incredibly gracious and the staff even heated and cut our family dish. He made sure we could serve exactly what we wished, and as if that weren’t enough, his staff took incredible care of my husband and me throughout the day. We had a buffet dinner and they offered to make a plate for us, and they checked on us repeatedly to make sure we had plenty of booze and water, too. We ordered cake from a gluten-free bakery, and because we ordered two kitchen cakes, they had those precut and ready to go so our guests could dig in right after we cut the display cake. They plated the display cake quickly, too, and I was able to share a piece of all three flavors with my husband because they made sure mealtime went very smoothly! Cleanup was so quick that I didn’t even notice it happening, and they boxed everything up perfectly, including the top layer of our cake. If you want to serve food that you and your guests love AND you want to make sure everyone is beautifully cared for along the way, we highly recommend Helga’s Catering.

A caterer can make or break your wedding... and Helga's knocked it out of the park! I absolutely loved working with them. We had a very tight budget and Helga's was incredibly accommodating to it, while still providing excellent service. They bring a lot of experience to the table, and Michael and the staff were so attentive to every little detail. I came to the tasting with a list of questions, and they were prepared for everything. The food was delicious, and I received many compliments from wedding guests. The wait staff went above and beyond - they were constantly thinking of little ways to help guests (and my husband and I) enjoy the day (and keep it drama-free!). Besides my wedding photographer, Helga's was my FAVORITE vendor! So responsive and thoughtful. If you're on the fence, just do a tasting with them... you won't be disappointed!

This review is a bit overdue. Helga's catered our wedding reception on October of last year. We spoke to several caterers and they were the most responsive and worked with our budget and requirements. Michael did the walk through of our reception location with us and helped map out a rain plan (which we eventually used since it was a rainy/cold day). Everything else went according to plan on the day of our wedding. We received a lot of complements for the food and the staff was extremely professional. Michael even showed up to our reception to congratulate us and make sure everything was running smoothly. My wife and I would highly recommend Helga's for your catering needs.

I cannot say enough good things about Helga’s catering. As I was doing price quotes on caterers for our wedding, I quickly realize that most caterers will not/cannot accommodate variations in menu and pricing. When I contacted Helga’s, they nearly bent over backwards to make sure that I could customize a menu to what we needed, and they did everything they could to fit within our budget, and that they made us as happy as possible. I got tons of compliments on how good the food was. Helga’s staff was nothing but service oriented, I referred them to my brother for his wedding and it was the exact same treatment. They worked with them on he menu they needed, worked with their budget and preferences, and the food was spectacular. Needless to say, I will always recommend Helga’s anytime anyone asks me for a catering referral!!

We, along with my entire family (& our guests!), were so incredibly lucky to have Helga's team as the caterers at our wedding. They did an AMAZING job. The food was delicious (i.e. - they nailed our request for authentic Moroccan food), the staff was incredibly helpful and kind, and everything was set up to perfection (as I had pictured & more). Mike and Lynda - the leaders behind the scenes - were both an absolute pleasure to work with individually and we felt so safe in their hands throughout this process. Highly recommend this experienced, professional, and creative caterer.

Helga's was wonderful to work with through the whole process and I would recommend them highly. They were very considerate of our budget and made very helpful recommendations and were so easy to work with. They were either available or responded promptly. The food was amazing, and they were able to incorporate our culinary heritage and our favorite dishes in out menu . Our guests loved it, and commented on how great everything tasted. The staff was phenomenal on the day of our event and took great care of us and our guests. I can't say enough about their staff. My wife and I had a positive experience with Helga's catering with our October wedding this year. Michael was very easy to work with and accommodating with the various changes that we wanted. He made us feel comfortable right from the start and was responsive to emails. He even made time to come do a walk-through with us at the wedding venue. Helga's Caterers was wonderful to work with. Michael was a delight - provided honest feedback, suggestions on menu items and substitutions, and was ultimately very responsive to all of the questions that we had. He also provided plenty of assurances on how the catering would work on the day of the ceremony. As a result, we were very relaxed and comfortable knowing that the food would be handled well! Helga's catered both a rehearsal dinner, a cocktail hour and the reception dinner. Food was well received by all of our guests - we heard many compliments about it (plus, we liked what we eventually got to eat!). The staff Helga's uses is also very friendly and always had a smile on their face. Would definitely recommend Helga's for any future brides and grooms.

I would hire Helga's again in a second! Michael and his staff did an incredible job at our wedding last month. Our friends are still talking about how great the food was, the buffet and tables were beautifully arranged, and the service was perfect all night. I didn't have a wedding coordinator and Helga's made sure everything ran beautifully. Throughout, they accommodated all of my questions, requests, and schedule and made great suggestions. We met with some other caterers who had over the top showrooms (and matching prices) but Helga's food spoke for itself. From the tasting to the post wedding clean-up, I couldn't have asked for more.

Where do I even start ?! Please please if you have a chance to work with Helgas DO NOT hesitate !! They were so beyond incredible to work with and our wedding wouldn't have gone so smoothly if not for them ! From the first time speaking to Michael and meeting and hearing his calming nature, I knew Helgas was the right choice ( they were the only ones to actually take a phone call with me vs just emailing !) He even worked with our budget and made changes as we needed. It didn't just stop at the initial proposal and tasting with their outstanding customer service ! One of the admins Lynda answered all my questions on details for the wedding and was a supportive soundboard as I talked things through, making the whole wedding planning process so doable and fun ! And everyone on the wedding day from Francisco to his wife Judy to the bartenders and wait staff worked so hard to make sure everything went exceptionally well!! I can not thank all of Helgas staff for making everything leading up to our wedding to the wedding day for being so beyond amazing!! Genuinely and sincerely everyone at Helgas are there for the clients and that is so hard to find these days ! Oh and the food ?!! BEYOND DELICIOUS !!

We absolutely loved working with Helga's for our wedding! They were recommended to us by our venue staff, and were fantastic from start to finish, meeting with us to sample the menu, communicating and checking in with us at all stages, and were absolutely wonderful the day of the wedding. We had a brunch wedding, and everything was delicious. They were amazing about working in all the small details we wanted to include (homemade banana breads for each table, mini doughnuts for place cards), and made everything easy. They were affordable and professional, and we couldn't recommend them more highly.
