date, I added on some additional services for bridesmaids and family who decided they wanted their hair done. At this point, I was “booked” and invoiced for 3 make up artist, 9 hair services and 1 make up service.
The invoice included the correct number of services and artists, however there was a note in the message portion of my invoice that listed 2 less hair services. The venue address was also listed incorrectly. When I saw this, I wrote to confirm that I was booked for the correct number of services and that they had the correct address. Over the course 2 months leading up to my wedding date, I did not get a response or confirmation on the number of services I was booked for and that they had the correct address. I understood this was a busy season for them, so I tried spacing out my communications. To give you an idea, these are the dates I contacted this company, never receiving a response. A couple weeks before my wedding, after many failed attempts at getting them to confirm, I decided to reach out to their “emergency line” (the owner of the salon)—another failed attempt. I seriously felt like I was being ghosted by this vender (and like I was crazy). I started wondering if they were even going to show up.

Finally, 3 days before my wedding, the only option I had left was to contact the artist that I was booked with (I had her number from our trial). This seemed to work—as the owner finally gave me a call. During our call (3 days before my wedding), I found out that I was NOT in fact booked for the correct services or the correct amount of artist (despite paying for these!)—I was 2 hair services and 1 make up artist short. They were able to book us for the correct services, but we still only had 2 artists show up. The artists that showed up were not friendly, at all.
After the wedding, I contacted them to get a refund for the third artist that I paid for but didn’t show up. After two months of back and forth (them trying to tell me I was appropriately charged), I finally got a refund for these.
I understand how busy Hello Lovely must be, but to treat a client like this is so so unacceptable. There are so many anxieties and stresses that come with wedding planning, but hair and make up should not have been one of them. That’s supposed to be the fun part. All my other vendors were so wonderful to work with. I would never recommend Hello Lovely. I have been putting off this review for some time because I didn’t want to be upset all over again, but I think other brides should be aware of my experience despite their good reviews.

nd attention to detail. When getting my hair and makeup done that morning, they both referenced multiple times how they had looked back and reflected on my trial to make tweeks. That extra time and attention was appreciated and did not go unnoticed! A testament to their skills was being able to do services on people ranging from 6 to 91 years old for our wedding. Everyone looked and felt amazing not only at the time of our service or all that day, but at our reception the next day (or in my mom's case for days to come! Madilyn worked her magic and got my mom's super straight hair to hold a curl for over 4 days!). With doing 13 services that morning, they had great time management while each service getting the special attention they deserved. We also had Liz come with us to the venue for a few on call hours. had a hard luck - my first artist Liz had broken her wrist, so I worked on my trial with Angie. Angie was amazing and everything went all.
However, due to some unforeseen events, my hair and makeup artists had to be reassigned just a couple weeks before my wedding. While I do appreciate Hello Lovely trying to assign artists at a short notice, my new artists were definitely much less experienced than Liz or Angie and I had to go through a lot of trouble and stress to be able to work with them. I’m not sure it’s even possible but as a client I could tell the difference between the experiences the artists have and the experiences I had. It’d be nice to get someone on equal level of expertise as Angie or Liz - but I understand that may not be possible always given the short notice.
On my wedding day, my makeup worked out really well with Vanessa. She made sure to apply all the notes I mentioned and I liked how I looked. However, my hair was not good - the artist definitely tried her best but I was running out of time and I had to settle with what I got. She was also starting to get frustrated which was hard for me because I already was frustrated and stressed with my hair not looking what I wanted on my wedding day. This was even after having a trial with her. I had booked another vendor for rest of my bridesmaid’s hair since Hello Lovely couldn’t accommodate the entire party onsite in that timeframe. The hair stylist from the other vendor actually re-did my hair after the hair stylist from Hello Lovely left and this other vendor’s hair stylist was very experienced and could fix my hair in 10 minutes and my hair ended up looking great. But this is the credit that goes to the other vendor and not the hair stylist I booked from Hello Lovely. The other vendor was not even responsible or paid to do my hair, neither did I do a trial with them. But they were very experienced. sweet and helpful.
Hello Lovely gave me a partial refund of $100 for all the trouble which I appreciate but that didn’t help me on my wedding day since all the hair fiasco took up so much extra time that I missed my pre-ceremony bridal portrait timeframe.
Overall, I’d say I liked their proactiveness and professionalism , however Hello Lovely needs to work with the newer artists more to make sure they’re skilled, have good expertise and well suited enough for wedding events even when assigned as backup. I felt like I was getting experimented on. I’d give a 4 star but I’m giving 3 due to my experience on wedding day Hair with the hair stylist.

Liz also was super receptive to some last minute changes to my makeup plan that I requested after we had already done the trial. It came out looking just perfect. No issues with hair either. Both of us have curly hair with many layers, but that did not seem to pose a problem at all and they were able to create looks that very closely matched some of the inspiration photos we had provided.

She worked with us to add the second stylist (Jenn) late notice to make sure that we could squeeze my mom in and not jeopardize our timeline, which ended up working out perfectly. They assured me that all of their artists were qualified to do makeup for women of all skin tones, and sent me pictures of black women they had done glam for before. They amount of care they took in understanding that and accommodating me was incredible. And they were absolutely right. Angie C was a rockstar and sweetheart who made me feel the most beautiful I ever have before.
