I found a gown that I absolutely loved online from Eden Bridals. I knew this was my dress from the moment I saw it. So I checked the webpages store locator and only found one store in my area that carried Eden. That store was Here Comes the Bri...de. The shop had tons of bad reviews and a I was very apprehensive. But I was set on having that dress, and no other shop that I called could have it brought in.
So I made an appointment at Here Comes the bride and the woman there ( I assume the owner) was very nice to my whole party. She helped me pick out some dresses that were similar to the one I saw, since she didnt have that particular one in the store that day. After deciding I still wanted to see the gown I found online, she agreed to have a sample pulled in for me. She call Eden right then, told me that they had my size in stock and that they would send it over for me to try on. Now, there was a $50 deposit required to have the dress pulled in. That $50 was not returnable, but could be put towards my gown if I purchased one there. If I did not purchase a gown I could use it towards and veil or any other of the accesories.
Then a funny thing happened while we were waiting to be checked out. A woman and her daughter had come in to pick up some dresses that had abeen altered. They got into an altercation with the owner and even started yelling at her. The owner seemed very passive aggressive and just kind of let them walk out. I was worried then, but gave her the benefit of the doubt.
In a few weeks I recieved a call that the dress was there for me to try on and I made another appointment. I tried it on and loved it, and the same saleswoman reminded me that, "This is only a sample. You cannot buy this dress. We will order one to be made for you." That it exactly what she told me. So I put a deposit down on the dress. I was told I could expect it in about 4 months (February).
So about two weeks into February I called the shop wondering why I hadn't heard anything yet. Not alarmed at all....just curious. The same saleswoman that I had been working with seemed totally baffled when I spoke to her on the phone. She said "What do you mean? Your dress is here. It has been here. You had it on." She then proceeded to say, "Your balance is due, but I didn't want to press you for the money." I have no idea what she meant by that because I was told that my balance would be due when my dress came in. According to her we never ordered a dress. I was infuriated and upset. I called my mother crying. I really at this point though this lady was nuts and I was praying that she had my dress.
I made an appointment to go in and pick up the dress with my mother and cousin. We basically had to remind the lady who I was. She always seemed so confused. My dress was thankfully in the back of the shop, in a bag, with my name on it. It was the same exact dress I had tried on which turned out not to be a sample dress at all. We inspected it for any errors, payed the balance, and high tailed it out of there. I found a seamstress elsewhere. I was too worried about how unstable and confused this lady was.
Bottom line, there are some nice dresses in the shop and this woman is seemingly very nice and friendly. But she's just gonzo. I don't know what is going on upstairs but she is very very confused. It's hard to communicate with her. So I would recommend staying away since buying a wedding gown should be a stress free process.
