We had a beautiful wedding here but there are a few things to point out. The furniture has recently been painted an unattractive green. The grounds are not really kept up and are in need of upgrades. The wedding will take place on a parking lot made of stone which leads to shoes being filled up. We had a lot of ants on tables and legs and even a spider. You will need to rent an additional day if you want to do a ceremony practice.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re delighted that you found your ...
wedding beautiful, and we sincerely appreciate your comments, as they help us improve our venue.
We understand that the new furniture color may not be to everyone’s taste, and we will take your input into consideration for future updates. Our team is also dedicated to maintaining the grounds, and your comments have prompted us to review our maintenance schedule to ensure everything is in top condition for our guests.
We regret the inconvenience caused by the stone parking lot and the presence of ants and a spider. We will make our pest control service aware of this, as no one has ever complained about it before. We will be addressing these issues promptly to enhance the experience for future events.
Regarding the additional day for a ceremony rehearsal, we strive to offer flexible packages to accommodate our clients’ needs and will look into how we can better communicate this option.
Since you contracted to rent the facility almost eight months ago, we have made significant improvements, including new plantings, mulching, the installation of a mosquito spraying system, and the restoration of the summer kitchen building and slave cabin. We are committed to continuously enhancing our venue for our guests.
We also wanted to address the matter of the deposit. The deposit was kept due to a few breaches of our contract terms: a table was moved onto our mosquito system line causing damage, there was an unannounced Wednesday visit for a wedding walk-through without staff clearance, and while they did clean up the next day, our contract specifies cleanup on the night of the event. Additionally, the condition of the grounds the following morning was unacceptable, with food left scattered. To remedy this, staff and a board member had to arrive early with trash bags as the trash cans were used without liners. Your understanding is greatly appreciated, and we are committed to improving communication with our clients to prevent such issues in the future.
Additionally, we want to remind you that this is a historic site, and our considerations by staff also pertain to the overall preservation of this important location. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us balance guest satisfaction with the preservation of our venue’s historical significance. We value your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

We had our wedding reception here in the spring and it was great. The staff suggested the caterer ( Hieronymus provisions) and Chef Danny came up with a knock out menu that fit our budget. Our guests enjoyed the low country ambiance- old oak trees with lots of Spanish Moss! we are seriously thinking of returning in the fall for Dad's retirement party.

The Heyward House was the perfect venue for our intimate Lowcountry wedding. Its location in the very heart of Old Town Bluffton is wonderful for photos and is a gorgeous setting. The Heyward House staff is outstanding, and they are also familiar with working with all the local vendors, so catering, band, and table placement was a breeze. I highly recommend having your wedding here! We had about 50 people and guests absolutely loved the setup and location. If you're thinking about it...do it!
