Do not get married here. They are extremely rude and make excuses for everything. My fiance and I only had a 6 month timeline from the beginning, we booked Hidden Lake right away. We had our contract signing scheduled for the following week after we toured, which we were also supposed to go over the timeline, the coordinator, Lily, cancelled the day of and rescheduled for a day that worked for her so we made it work for us. She was late to the meeting and then basically told us she did not have time for us that day but gladly had us sign the contract and pay the deposit. We never heard anything back to reschedule the timeline meeting. Both my mom and I reached out several times to both Lily and the owner and got ignored. We were finally able to get our timeline meeting scheduled and the invoice was promised to us by two days later. We never got it, I emailed Lily later in the week and it was again promised to me the next day, I had still never received it. Two weeks went by so I reached out to the owner again who was very rude in her response. I had talked to multiple other people who chose this venue and were also extremely unhappy so we decided to change venues. After telling them we were cancelling, that is when the owner finally decided to step in and offer her services opposed to Lily's. She also told my mom "I have never seen a mother of the bride be so upset over their daughter's wedding." and refused to give the deposit back even though they never upheld their responsibilities expressed in the contract. Please do not waste your time, money or memories of your most special day on this place.
One of my very close friends had her ceremony here and I was with her the entire day. While the ceremony site itself was beautiful, we had many upsetting encounters with the coordinator. She was extremely rude to not only the wedding party, but also the bride herself…to the point where the bride was in tears on multiple occasions throughout the day, due to the way she was speaking to everyone. At one point, she even put her hands on a guest, cussed at her, and shoved her out the door. I would definitely not recommend this venue to anyone hoping to have a kind and considerate coordinator or venue owner.
Absolutely beautiful venue. Cabins near by for convenience.
Beautiful venue. We had our reception in the estate and it was amazing. However, the staff who worked our wedding did not bring a full course meat choice that we had paid and ordered. Then the staff got into it and was completely rude to my mother about the situation. The rest of the food was subpar and dry. Everything else went wonderfully with the other vendors we had. All in all the venue was wonderful but the food and staff I would need to rate a 2 star.
Absolutely beautiful. We had our ceremony in front of the waterfall and our reception in the building at the same location. Food was great and staff was wonderful as well.
Such a great place to get married! The place is beautiful and the staff works with you in every way possible to give you the best day.
Ashley and the rest of the team at Hidden Lake Winery were amazing! Ashley was easy to contact and work with throughout the entire planning process and answered all of my questions thoroughly and quickly. The staff worked tirelessly the day of the make sure we had the perfect day. Beautiful venue, excellent food, and super competitive pricing. I HIGHLY recommend checking out Hidden Lake Winery!
We hosted our wedding on the 22nd of September at the Majestic Falls location and it was absolutely perfect!! Ashley was wonderful to work with and was so friendly and accommodating. The servers and bartenders were so friendly and had a great time enjoying the night with us. I would 100% recommend this winery for any special events. The food was wonderful and they did a great job at cutting our wedding cake for us. I will say they are super quick to breakdowns the end of the night even though people were still sitting at the tables they were breaking down. It was also our fault for not paying a lot of attention to time. Still love this place.
My daughter’s wedding was in May 2018. Ashley was the event planner, and she was hard to get ahold of, but helpful, all the way up to the actual day of the wedding. Not only was she not there, but no other staff was available that could answer our questions about all the other problems we had that day. The Champagne Hall was beautiful, mostly because of the amazing decorator that we hired. We had several breeches of contract including: tables in different formation, no champagne or glasses for the head table, food was terrible and some guests including the father of the bride didn’t even eat, no sauce on chicken, no gravy for mashed potatoes, no tea coffee water for guests, NO SERVERS to bus tables or fill water glasses, the bartenders charged drinks to our tab that were not approved, workers using very foul language in the bathroom, etc. The list goes on!! We tried to contact the owner and he would not call us back on a few occasions. Our total charge for the winery and food was about $10,000, so we asked for our $1000 service charge to be refunded since we received no “service” and he only want to give back $500, so we finally agreed to $750. Think twice before booking here. The Hall was beautiful, but the lack of service made it not worth the hassle.
My husband and I chose this place to host our wedding because our idea was to have an intimate wedding. The setting is beautiful. My wedding was late April 2018. Ashley was amazing to work with. She addressed every single one of my questions and made it easy for me to visit the winery as many times as I wanted since I live 4.5 hours away. I’m prettydetail oriented and it I just can’t stress how at ease I was since I knew Ashley was there to help us. The food was good. The wine is great, and the staff really took care of our guests. I definitely recommend hosting your wedding or events at Hidden Lake Winery.
We got married in front of the waterfall at Hidden Lake Winery. We were the first outdoor wedding of the year so the staff did a great job sprucing up the place to make it look like spring had sprung! Beautiful location and great picture opportunities!
Ashley was the wedding coordinator and was very helpful with all my questions! I would email her anytime I had a question or concern and she was very kind and quick to get back to me. We were allowed to go off menu by giving her a list of menu options we would like, then went out to the winery one evening to try them all. I thought the price of food was very reasonable. The only hang up with dinner is they were a little slower at getting the food out because our buffet line was in a separate room. Some of the guests were worried we had run out of food, but I think Ashley went and told them all personally that more food was out for them to eat. The setting is gorgeous! The lakeside patio was a great spot to get married. We had the reception right next door in the Champagne Hall to follow. I winery views definitely sold us on the venue, even though it was about an hour from home for us.
Wonderful place! My wedding is coming up this May and I can not wait! Best customer service and beautiful ceremony venues.
My husband and I loved Hidden Lake Winery! We had both our ceremony and reception there and it was amazing!!! Thank you Amy for coordinating everything!
Pros: Our ceremony at The Vines was perfect. The bride room in The Estate was super convenient for us. The maintenance staff was very helpful. The champagne at the head table was perfection. Everything was set up and ready to go in the reception hall well before we arrived so it made decorating easy. There was pretty good communication between us and the coordinator and were very accommodating.
Cons: The cabin we stayed in the night before had ants crawling all over the bar. The food was NOT what we ordered (even after we went to the taste testing event!). No one from HLW was present during our rehearsal or the wedding day itself... not one person made sure everything was going smoothly (it did, so it was all good, but still). We had our reception in The Estate, and people were blind for a good hour as the sun set and made it hard to get the party started. They charged for soda. One of the family members that lives in The Estate approached us and said "Thanks for having your wedding here, we love money!".....
The event coordinator, Ashley, is very helpful and knowledgeable. The food and drinks were good. The winery is good about allowing couples to bring in whatever they need to make the event special like photo booths and snack bars.
Had my wedding at Hidden Lake Winery and it was everything i imagined! All of my guests kept saying how beautiful the ceremony was and everyone had such a good time at the reception. It's a little ways out there but totally worth it.
Rented out the Majestic Falls area. Ceremony was supposed to be outside and then reception in the tent. It rained so much that it flooded the tent in the middle of the moved ceremony.
They apparently had a previous wedding that had the same issue and they did not tell us before booking.
We spent A LOT of time on the layout of the tables and table numbers and whatnot and the day before the wedding we showed up it was nothing like what we sent the wedding planner. It was all set up with the wrong tables and layout.
The food was nothing like what we had discussed before the day. We wanted chicken parmesan and they served fried chicken and penne noodles with red sauce served separately.
The food costs were more than we discussed because of "upcharges."
Hidden Lake Winery provides a beautiful atmosphere for a wedding. It made my wedding so pretty! Only bad thing is that we had a few communication problems with the staff but other than that everything went great!!
My husband and I were married on September 1, 2012 at Majestic Falls site located in Hidden Lake Winery. As many of you may remember, Hurricane Issac hit the midwest in a BIG way on Labor Day weekend. It didn't just rain, it MONSOONED. Not only did we have to get married under the tent (where our reception was), but we had to quickly take pictures as there were breaks in the rain. I realize I took the risk by wanting my wedding outside, so I was never upset when we decided to have the wedding under the tent and not in front of the waterfall. The winery offers 4 options of food that you can mix and match. There is buffet style or plated. We chose to only have wine and beer at our wedding which worked out well. Also, they have options where you can either use their resources or bring in your own, the only thing that does not work with this is you have to purchase food and drink from them. Lastly, the only "small" complaints I have are that there were two weddings going on at the winery that day (ours and another couple at the main location), so the wedding coordinator had to split her time between both weddings. Also, the "bridal suite" in the tent is just a small room attached to the women's bathroom which made it extremely hard to "hide" the bride before the guests could see because the only other way out of the suite was into the rain. Even those these two things were not what I expected, all in all it was a great experience. I forgot to mention (probably the most important part), I saw negative reviews from a few websites regarding this winery. Before I even gave them money to reserve the winery, I e-mailed Ashley, the coordinator, and addressed my concerns with the reviews. She responded by addressing the issues, how they have resolved the issues in the past 2 years and how they continue to evolve. She was not offended or upset, which I appreciated. She was very professional throughout and I truly appreciated her help.
I LOVED this location. We had a rough time through some of the process of choosing food and keeping in contact but in the end everything turned out amazingly well. I was really happy with how it turned out and the food was absolutely delicious. The owner worked to make sure everything was great.
My husband and I had our wedding on 09/17/2011 at Hidden Lake Winery. We worked with Ashley during our planning process. She was very organized and great to work with. We were very pleased with everything that the winery had to offer us.
we used the lakeside pavillion for our wedding ceremony and reception site. the surroundings were beautiful.the food and service at the reception were excellent. we also stayed at the silent forest retreat cabins on our wedding night which are located at the winery. the cabin was comfy and cozy and was a great place to get dressed before the wedding. we did have some difficuty with the event planner. she was slow to respond at times.my husbend had to contact the manager at one time in order to get a response from the winery about concerns we had about our event site. even with the problems that we had with the event planner Hidden Lake Winery is a beautiful place to have a wedding.
Hidden Lake Winery had a BEAUTIFUL background for our outdoor wedding ceremony. However, the area around the ceremony location needed a lot of touching up. Upon arrival, the site didn't look very clean. There were a lot of tree branches and sticks on the sidewalks. They set up nice, white padded chairs for the ceremony in front of a pond with a fountain. They have a surround sound speaker system set up out there, but they wouldn't let us use it. My musician had to bring all of his own speakers, amp, and microphone. The one thing I really hated during the ceremony is the fact that they let their winery patrons come outside on the balcony and watch our wedding. During the ceremony, I could hear all of their drunken customers talking and laughing. They also appear in the background of a lot of our pictures. It just looks tacky and it's very rude. I don't think customers of the winery should be allowed out there while a wedding ceremony is taking place.
In our year long planning, we went through three different event coordinators at the winery. Talk about stressful! There’s nothing more aggravating than when I call my venue and ask to speak to my coordinator and they tell me that she’s not working there any more. That happened THREE times! The worst part was that after we found out one quit, we had to set up an appointment to go meet with a new one. Each time we did this, the new person would go over our contract with us and the prices always changed. The week before the wedding we found out that once again there was a new person we’d be working with. We went to the winery to meet her and she was very rude. She acted like she had no time for us at all. She did promise us that she would be there for the rehearsal and the entire day of the wedding to help us with everything. That was a lie. My rehearsal was at 4:00 and was scheduled to last 45 minutes. We ended up getting there early and asked for our coordinator. The bartender told us she went home and wouldn’t be back until after 5 pm. She missed out on the entire rehearsal! On the day of the wedding, I only saw the woman ONE TIME and that was when my dad was walking me down the aisle. Why on Earth is she called a wedding coordinator if she doesn’t help the bride and groom coordinate anything?! I was very disappointed at the lack of service we received.
The food thankfully tasted very good. A lot of our guests came up to us and told us how good everything tasted. We were quite relieved, especially since we didn’t get to taste anything beforehand. They don’t allow their brides to go there for food tastings anymore. That’s so unfortunate because you have no idea how things will taste; you can only hope and pray that it turns out good. Thankfully our lemon-peppered chicken and roast beef was very yummy.
The ballroom was very nice with the exception of a few things. There were some random objects in the room that we had asked them to remove, but they never did. For example, there was a big black easel by the door where we were making our grand entrance. They promised to have it out of there before the reception, but low and behold, they didn’t. All of the pictures for our grand entrance look hideous because the big black easel is blocking my husband’s face.
The bartenders didn't do a very good job either. We had a specific drink menu that didn't get followed. They also ran out of my husband and I's favorite liquor, which we told them to stock up on
We were married outdoors by a lake at the winery and the ceremony backdrop was lovely. The support staff at the winery were incredible on the day of the event- very organized and we worried about little. The food was good although the entree was not exactly what we agreed upon or had tasted. Loved the hardwood floor in the dance area and the fact that we could offer a few select wines and drinks for our event but guests could go to the bar in the public winery area if they wanted something else.;A couple of things: a) The owner's personal taste can lean towards crass. Example: A couple of the wines have ridiculous names considering that they are a very popular wedding location. 'Wise Ass Chardonnay.' (Needless to say we didn't serve this at our reception.) Also in the men's bathroom there is a tastless piece of 'art' which we knew nothing about until after the wedding when a couple friends with good senses of humor mentioned it. b) They had no piano onsite even though they originally claimed to have one. We brought my digital piano for the outdoor reception but they said they had no place to store it between our rehearsal and reception. This meant we had to transport it there then back and then there again- and they would charge $50 to move this large but lightweight piano from outdoors to inside. Not the easiest to work with prior to the wedding but it was worth it in the end.
