After High Hampton changed our wedding date three times, and after us taking off multiple days from work to drive to Cashiers on different occasions while still trying to be flexible to all of their changes, High Hampton cancelled our wedding and all weddings for 2019 due to renovations. I completely understand the uncertainty that comes with new ownership, but they assured us throughout months of communications that it wouldn't affect things. We believed them, even though they had been dishonest to us in some of the original changes of dates. We shouldn't have. As disappointed as I am, I feel worse for other brides whose wedding dates are earlier in 2019 and frantically trying to find a venue.
I never write bad reviews, but we were not told the whole truth on multiple occasions and I don't want anyone to go through the stress of what we've gone through.
We just had our wedding at this resort last weekend. The view here is exceptional and the staff makes you feel like you are family. The breakfast is to die for and there is so much outdoorsy stuff for your guest to do in the area. Kelsey who is the event cordinator is absolutely amazing at her job. She makes you feel like she cares about every detail and is kind, warm, and funny. I can not imagine getting married anywhere else.
The events team are amazing! They treat you like royalty and do everything possible to make sure your wedding weekend goes as you dreamed! The views are breathtaking. The food and service is outstanding. There are so many things that make this place a great rustic mountain retreat. We wanted somewhere that our guests could unplug from technology, enjoy God's beauty, and family. Plus, there are so many activities to do at the resort if you are active and outdoorsy. I did hear 2017 is the last year for weddings at High Hampton. Not sure if this is accurate. But it is definitely a shame, however, I feel blessed to have been able to share my wedding day with family and friends at this gorgeous historical place!
Caroline and her team are phenomenal. If they weren't so helpful, caring, creative and kind, I'd rely on their outstanding amount of experience alone easily. They know everything there is to know about hosting an event at High Hampton, but do everything they can to help you make your wedding your own. And extremely special.
The staff was easy to work with and extremely helpful in making the whole weekend a success! They handled everything with absolute professionalism. I couldn't have asked for more because they did everything they could to make things perfect. My husband and I would not have changed a single thing. We are sure our guests had a weekend they'll never forget!
We just got married at High Hampton Inn in October 2012. The scenery was breath taking (outdoor ceremony with the panoramic mountains and lake behind us), the reception hall "country chic" and the staff was extremely friendly. Caroline (the event planner) took my diy wedding ideas and made them happen for me (without us having to pay for a wedding planner). But really, a wedding couldn't go wrong here- everything is in place and naturally beautiful. They took care of set up, break down (including packaging all my personal stuff back up), food, venue and event execution for 100 people without a hitch. The bartenders at the wedding were awesome, Brian (food and beverage manager) was very helpful and did I mention Caroline was amazing?
Additionally, I highly recommend the weekend get-away destination wedding. There is so much to at High Hampton- hiking, fishing, canoeing, golf, tennis, bocce ball, etc- you might as well enjoy the locale while getting married. Spending time with our guests ahead of time allowed us to actually enjoy our wedding. Yes, we sat and ate (no, I didn't actually taste the food but everyone else said it was fantastic), we danced, and we had fun!
The views were incredible!!!;It can get very busy there (it's an inn after all) especially around July 4.
